Chapter 22: Henry's Harebrained Scheme

“I said stay down!” The voice yells again when I try to get up.

The back of my head is throbbing with pain from the blow and my vision is getting darker and darker. But I recognize the voice.

“Henry,” I squeak, lifting my hand from the ground. “You—”

“You thought you could just get rid of me that easily, huh, Rayne?” He hisses and crouches down to my level. “You thought I'd let you be with that man?”

Henry grips both of my hands and starts binding my wrists with a rough, scratchy rope. “You planned this, didn't you? You fucked that man so I'd throw you out and you could be with him. But it's not going to happen, not while I'm still breathing. You're mine, Rayne. You belong to me.”

He knots and tightens the rope around my wrists. “This should keep you in line,” he says, his voice cold as ice. “You're not going to be seeing that son of a bitch again. Not if I have anything to say about it.”

I whimper as the rope digs into my skin, leaving angry red marks. “Please, Henry.
