Thinking of the best plot

Everyone gasped at the shocking revelation. Brandon was trying to get close to me but the security blocked the both of us, his eyes, it looked ready to kill.

“I would like to say, both Brandon and I are no longer together and this marks the end of our relationship.” I concluded , he got to free himself and attacked me, trapping me by my neck.

“The fuck do you think you are doing huh?” He screamed pressing his hands more on my neck, the guards separated the both of us and he was pushed to the ground.

“You should at least feel a bit of shame about what you did. But instead you attacked me in front of the press, you are only causing more damage to yourself and your company.”

Calm your head down and it’ll be fine. I went out after saying that, he should have probably been trying to call Kath by now.

Reporters crowded me when I got outside.

“What will be your next step?”

“Do you think you can forgive your best friend?”

“When did you first find out he was cheating on you?”

“Is that why you decided not to promote her yet?”

That question made me stop, “The question you just asked is irrelevant to anything here, as far as I am concerned, there are lots of employees who are competent enough, I believe everyone deserves to work to get a promotion, everyone deserves to be treated equally.”

I left afterwards. I felt relieved now knowing I’ve broken up with the one person I’ve always loved. They can now start their affairs fully.

My tears came out after I got into the car, I was only trying to be strong but it hurts. Just as my car passed by the fountain, I saw a familiar figure, “Daniel?” I called out, that wasn’t possible though.

We didn’t have any encounters in the past until Kath introduced him to me, or maybe I’m hallucinating. I dialed a number after cleaning my tears, she picked up after the third ring.

“Hey Mary.” I could hear talks from the other end, she must have heard of what happened.

“Hey girl, it’s been a while.” She said, we both exchanged pleasantries and talked about a few things before I decided to go straight to why I called.

“I need your help with something, Mary.” Mary and I have known each other since childhood. She always protects me like a shadow. She's from a middle class family and we met when my foster dad wanted to punish me for fighting with Kath.

Yes I had a foster dad and he was the owner of the company I hold. He loved me so much and he loved Kath because she was like my best friend too.

I was taken to a not so rich school to spend a whole year with them and even though it was hard keeping my identity, Mary was the realest one I had.

She’s now working as the secretary of Daniel Rodrigo and knows all his schedule, I believe she’ll be able to help if I put her to it.

“What could that be, a pumpkin.” I just need to ask for Daniel's schedule, I’ll sort out the rest myself of course.

“Daniel Rodrigo, your boss's schedule.” She gasped at this request, I know what will follow.

“Girl, that’s like leaking info of the company I work for, I don’t know whatever you are planning but if it fails then I might lose my job too.” I know, she was rather worried, she doesn’t want to work under me because she doesn’t want anyone saying she gets favored because I’m her friend.

“Can we meet up now, I have some things to explain to you.” I can trust her with everything happening, if I tell her my plan too maybe she’ll suggest some words.

“Okay sure, I’m currently helping my boss with the new construction project we received.” I remember this project, it was the construction of the new building for the clothing store I signed last week.

I had no idea Daniel company was the one involved with the construction. I wasn’t able to fully participate after I signed it because I was feeling some kind of unusual feeling in my body which made Kath bring up the suggestion of taking over so I’ll be able to rest.

“Great! This sounds perfect, this was my construction plan, we sent the order, didn’t you notice the company name.” I said, she gasped. This is a perfect way of meeting him.

Now I remember how Layh got to meet Daniel, it was through this, their wedding plans were on the way in 2024 and he broke the engagement after a few months.

I thought maybe she was still healing and that was why I couldn’t suspect any affair between her and Brandon. How could I have forgotten all this?

“I’ll come to your company after visiting dad at the hospital.” Sad truth, after the announcement, dad was found unconscious the next morning and was rushed to the hospital.

If I could remember clearly, he died a year after and the hospital was blamed because they couldn’t diagnose the correct cause of his ailment. Now that I knew what killed him, perhaps I could save him too.

I dropped the call and went out of my office, I met Kath. Her eyes were puffy like she just finished crying, she had this innocent look which can make you think twice on whatever choice you make.

“Why did you do that?” I wouldn’t want her talking where workers can hear so I just shoved her over, she tried touching me to stop me.

“Can you guys just let me be at peace, reflect on your actions and just feel sorry, do you think what you did was right?” I asked, frustrated. I was only trying to hold out, I was hurting deep inside and badly wanted to cry out.

Everything felt new to me, maybe death should have ended everything but I still felt thankful for this second chance, this was like a great chance to turn around my unfortunate fate and show out the face of evil doers.
