First Day

The next day, Calista arrived at school earlier than yesterday. She can't wait to welcome her students today, Calista is placed in class 1-4 which is a new class for kindergarten students who have just joined the school.

Today, Calista is wearing a white blazer with a maroon shirt, then she wears jeans so that later she can move freely.

"Wow, Miss. It seems that Calista has come, very excited to teach her." replied Ms. Xia was amazed by Calista's enthusiasm to start today's class.

"Yes Miss, I'm excited to start class today." he answered happily.

"I remind you Miss, I don't want to scare you but in a new class it's usually a bit difficult to handle." whispered Ms. Xia, however, was easily replied by Calista that she could do it like Ms. Xia did.

Ms. Xia also said goodbye to her class to make preparations as well, meanwhile Calista was waiting at the door impatiently to see her class students enter the class she was holding from today.

After waiting patiently, finally the escorts for the children came to accompany them to the front of the classroom door. All the teachers at the school also greeted them patiently in front of the class.

But suddenly a commotion broke out in front of Calista's class, many of her students cried when they saw her parents only escort her to the door.

Calista was confused, she saw that the other three classes were not noisy and only the students in her class were crying together. There were even those who joined in crying because she thought it was one part of accepting new students at kindergarten.

Calista tries to get the attention of every crying child to be able to let their parents go. Every parent at the school is a busy person so they can't stay until class ends, Calista is forced to find a way to make them separate from their parents.

"Okey kids listen, Miss. Calista has a good toy, you know.” Calista exclaimed while showing the toys in the class to attract their attention, but what happened was they were still crying non-stop.

"Ouch, how is this? I didn't expect it to be this difficult to attract their attention.?” Calista's mind began to be confused.

Calista did not want to give up, she approached the children one by one and persuaded them by promising to provide an exciting experience in class. Luckily out of 10 students now five of them made it in and separated from their parents.

All students in other classes have now entered their respective classes, while Calista still has to attract the attention of five other students who cannot be separated from their parents.

Of all the students she persuaded, now there are only two students left who haven't entered yet and they are twins who keep crying in their father's arms.

"Sorry Miss, they are quite difficult to handle. They just turned five this month, so they're still young enough to go to kindergarten." Obviously the father.

"They're just not used to it sir,"

"Come on baby, let's go to class." Invite

Calista very friendly.

" We don't want."

"We just want to be with daddy."

The two of them returned compactly hugging their father's legs, meanwhile his father had resigned that if they didn't want to go to school, they would both be taken home.

Calista took out candy to them, before that Calista glanced at their father if they could eat candy and their father's answer made Calista attract their attention with the candy.

" Miss. Have delicious candy, if you want to enter the class, Miss will give you the candy." Invite Calista.

Calista didn't expect that her method was able to make the twins let go of their father, now they agree to enter and their father can go to work in peace.

The challenges didn't stop there, when Calista entered the classroom, she was shocked by the chaos that had occurred. All learning media was scattered everywhere, they were running while laughing and making the class noisy again.

In Calista's mind, she can only scream as loud as she can, she must not show her emotional side that explodes in front of them because it will make them afraid later.

"Alright students, let's start today's lesson." Unfinished Calista spoke suddenly something shot next to her and managed to hit the blackboard.

Calista's heart was beating so hard for her, it almost hit her face. The chaos was even worse, some children were crying because they were accidentally thrown by a boy who was very naughty and always annoyed other children.

Calista gave up, she didn't know what to do. Maybe it wasn't too late for her to resign from the job, she just couldn't take it anymore. Until finally madam Sara came with balloons which made all the children excited.

Madam Sara comes to help Calista on her first day of teaching, she knows handling a new class is a difficult job especially with Calista who doesn't have any experience in teaching.

It was thanks to madam Sara's presence that they could all calm down, each balloon was given to them so that they were quiet and Calista could continue to start learning on the first day.

The lunch break started, once again Calista had to look after her children because of a boy named Giovani who had been bothering his friends from the start.

This time Giovani took food from Caroline without asking for it, Caroline, who did not accept it, hit Giovani so that a small fight broke out between them.

Calista separated the two of them, Caroline cried beside Calista while Giovani ignored her with an annoyed expression.

"Listen, Giovani, you can't steal other people's food without their permission." Calista said in a soft voice.

"I've asked but he did not give it." Giovani replied curtly.

"You didn't ask for it, but you took it on purpose." Caroline replied annoyed.

"Enough..enough, don't fight okay. Giovani let's apologize to Caroline now."

" I don't want to." Giovani walked to his seat quickly and returned to enjoying his lunch.

"I'm sorry Giovani, Mrs. Calista, promise she won't take your food again." Lontar Calista returned a slow nod from Caroline.

After lunch time was over, then the second lesson continued where this time all the students in Calista's class were a little calmer because today's lesson was painting and they were happy with this lesson.

"Finally I can feel this serenity." Calista's mind was very satisfied.

When it was time to go home, Calista was happy because today she had worked extra hard to deal with ten children with different personalities. Now each of their parents came to pick them up accompanied by Calista who received thanks from the parents for her work today.

Calista was so happy to hear compliments from them even though her way of teaching was not 100% good. After each of their parents came to pick them up, it turned out that there was still one child who had not received a pick-up and he was Giovani.

"Your parents will be coming soon." Calista said after approaching Giovani.

Giovani remained silent by staring straight at the school gate, his gaze was very sharp and did not look like the expression on the face of an adorable 5 year old.

"If I may miss, who will pick you up later who?" Ask Calista again.

"I don't want to go home." Giovani then ran away from Calista who surprised her and immediately chased after the child.

Luckily Giovani only ran around the school so she could catch him quickly, Giovani went berserk when he was held by Calista and made the child claw at Calista's hand until it bled.

Giovani was shocked to see what he did, he didn't do it on purpose. Calista deliberately didn't wince even though it hurt so much, she just didn't want Giovani to feel even more guilty.

"I didn't do it on purpose." Giovani said it was clear on his face that he was very sorry.

"It's okay, it'll get better soon. Don't run anymore okay?" Calista's request succeeded in making Giovani nod slowly.

"Gio, come here." The sound immediately surprised Giovani and approached Calista with fear.

"What's wrong, Giovanni? Isn't that your daddy?" Calista looked at him confused.

"I'm sorry Miss if my son's behavior makes you in trouble." The man managed to carry Giovani even though previously he had refused to be taken home.

"It's okay sir, Giovani is a good boy." Calista had to lie so his parents wouldn't worry that while in class Giovani made a lot of messes.

"Then we'll excuse you."

Calista felt something strange when Giovani looked at him before he was taken away, but she ignored all of that because now she is free and can go home.

The woman had just come home from work, she opened the door and smelled a very strong alcohol drink. Surprised, she ran into the living room, with an expression of surprise Becky saw Calista who was having an alcohol party and was now completely drunk.

" What's wrong with you? this is your first day teaching right? Why drink alcohol?” Becky asked while shaking Calista's body.

"I ..., going crazy to face all those bad boys."

" What do you mean? Wake up Calista, stop drinking again.” Becky pushed aside the last can that was on the table so that Calista wouldn't drink any more.

"You know Becky, I almost went crazy over them. Some cried, messed up, vomited carelessly, and even hit other children on purpose. I can't stand them." Now it's Calista's turn to complain about all of this to Becky.

"That's the job of a teacher, you can't take it out on alcohol. Stop with this behavior of yours, and one more thing this is my house and I don't want to be filled with the smell of alcohol." Becky said emphatically.

"You're so talkative, I just want to sleep." Calista immediately dropped her head on the sofa and made Becky dizzy with her behavior.

The effects of yesterday's alcohol are still being felt today, but Calista is trying to give her best for today. Unlike yesterday where the children cried not wanting to be separated from their parents, today only one person was crying but it didn't take long for her to agree to enter the classroom.

Today Calista teaches them to sing where she has provided an LCD screen for the children to see the videos she plays. At first everything was going well, but suddenly Giovani returned to his behavior by biting his seatmate, Leon on the back, which made him cry so hard.

Calista stopped the day's study and approached Leon, who was currently bleeding from Giovani's bite. Calista was so panicked that something happened to Leon so she left the class with Ms. Xia to take Leon to the hospital.

Arriving at the hospital, Calista accompanied Leon to the emergency room, but she had to wait outside until the examination was finished.

Calista paced back and forth with a feeling of fear, she didn't know what to say in front of Leon's parents later. She could only hope that Leon's parents would understand that all of this was just an accident.

After a few moments the doctor had finished treating Leon, the doctor said that the bite wound was not that bad but it would leave a scar that would long disappear.

"Thank you very much doctor." Says Calista can now breathe easily.

Calista was then invited to meet Leon, the child had stopped crying and he wanted to meet his parents now.

"Where is my son? I'm the mother of a patient named Leonard."

Calista turned to Leon's parents who had just entered, they immediately panicked knowing their son was in the hospital. Apparently the school had contacted them so they left work to check on their child's condition.

"What about my child? Who did this to him?" Asked Leon's father who was most emotional after seeing his wound.

Calista also calmly told them what happened in class, instead of understanding the behavior of the children who could not be predicted when they would do something, Leon's father immediately slapped Calista hard.

"I don't want to know, you have to take responsibility for your negligence. It's pointless for me to pay dearly for that school if my child becomes a victim of violence.” Leon's father protested while pointing at Calista.

Calista's position at that time could not fight back even though she really wanted to defend herself, she could only surrender to Leon's parents piercing words.

Until madam Sara came and wanted to straighten out the problem that was happening. But Leon's family still doesn't accept it even though the school will pay the hospital bill.

"I will not take my child to that school again if the child who injured him is still in that class." Leon's father said before leaving to take Leon from the hospital.

"I'm really sorry madam, I didn't know this would happen in my class." Calista said while looking down guiltily.

"You're not wrong, you've been good at bringing Leon to the hospital. Kids are like that, sometimes they do things out of their control.” Answered Madam Sara who turned out to be on Calista's side.
