I woke up before sunrise. I swung my legs over the side of the bed, feeling the cool floor beneath my feet as I stood up.

Every muscle in my body ached, but I pushed through the pain. I couldn’t let it stop me. Not today.

I needed answers.

Today, I was going to get some clarity. I couldn’t let this gnawing feeling eat away at me any longer.

I grabbed a pair of shorts from my drawer, putting them on quickly.

The oversized shirt I slipped into next hung loosely on my body, but I didn’t care how I looked.

I wasn’t dressing up for anyone. I just needed to get out of the house.

Reaching for the bottle of perfume on my dresser, I gave myself a quick spray, the familiar vanilla scent calming my nerves.
