Kylian's POV
I saw the desire ignite in her eyes and for a brief second, I thought she was going to take me up on the offer.“I’m starving. Another time,” she said with a wink, before digging into her breakfast.I was hungry too. She wasn’t the only one who had expended a lot of calories. In fact, I was pretty sure I was the one who did the majority of the work. I kept that to myself as we shoveled food into our mouths.“I know we were kind of joking about the wedding stuff last night, but it actually is a serious matter. Can I call some hotels today?” I asked her.“I can’t stop you,” she retorted.I leaned over and nudged her with my shoulder. “You know what I mean.”“Fine, but don’t you dare steal another couple’s time slot. Bump some stupid conference or something like that—not another wedding.”I smiled. “Your wish is my command.”“I think you said that last night,” she said softly.I laughed. “And I think I fulfilled mYvonne's POVI walked into the restaurant, wearing my guilt like a cloak. Kieran waved when he saw me, and I tightened the cloak a little more. I walked toward him, hating myself for meeting with the guy and hating myself even more for not telling Kylian. I had intended to. I truly did, but things had been going so well, I didn’t want to sour the evening.Everything had felt so right. I had such a good time laughing and joking with him. He was fun to be around when he wasn’t acting like my boss at work. I didn’t mind him acting like my boss in the bedroom. That was an insane turn-on, one I still couldn’t believe made me so damn hot.“Thank you for meeting me,” Kieran said with a friendly smile, greeting me with a kiss on the cheek.I smiled in return. “Sure.”I took my seat and drank from the water glass, needing something for my suddenly very dry mouth. I was convinced all the moisture from my mouth was now resting in the palm of my hands. Kieran had promised I would want to hear what
Yvonne's POVHe looked furious and hurt. My heart immediately went out to him.“What’s going on here? Did I interrupt your lunch date? Were you headed back to his place to talk about your plans some more?” He sneered.“No! What are you talking about?” I defended. He shook his head. “You lied to me. You said you were having lunch with a friend.”Kieran looked at his brother, not saying a word. “You don’t know what you’re talking about, Kylian. Don’t say anything you might regret.”“Oh, really. You think I might say something I regret?” His hands were fisted at his sides.“Kylian, Kieran is a friend. I told you that when we met the other night. I knew him in college. We were just catching up over lunch. It was nothing more than that,” I explained. He was looking at me with such rage. I could feel how betrayed he felt and wanted to throw my arms around him, telling him it wasn’t true. I was loyal to him.“I thought we talked about this,” he said in a low growl, looking directly at me.“W
Kylian's POVIt was early, but I didn’t really notice. I had barely slept at all, thinking about what I had to do. Everything had blown up in my face. The shitty thing was I knew better. I knew not to trust anyone, especially a woman. She was only fucking me to get close. She’d probably been fucking Kieran the days she wasn’t with me. Both of them laughing at me as they did. They had been so close to pulling it over on me. I had let myself believe she was the real deal. That was my own fault. I had let my guard down and let her get close. Now, I felt like hell and I had no one to blame but myself. I had spent the night thinking about our conversations and wondering how much of it had been true and what had been a lie. She made a fool out of me and I would never forgive her.One tiny little lapse of control and look what happened. People wondered why I was such a hard-ass all the time. This was why. Because people were dicks and they were always trying to screw you over. Kieran had bee
Kylian's POV“You can’t do that! It’s my company.”I smiled and shook my head. “No, it’s my company and I can do that. I own it.”“Kylian, you can’t take my company away from me. You know how much it means to me.”I shook my head. I could see the sadness in her eyes. I couldn’t let myself fall for her trap. Not again. “I’m sorry, we had an arrangement. You failed to uphold your part. Therefore, you’re fired, and I would really prefer never to see you again.”“You don’t understand. Something changed between us. It wasn’t just a marriage on paper for me. I was falling for you. I realized it when I was meeting with Kieran. When he asked me if our engagement was the real thing, I told him it was. I knew in that moment I was loyal to you and always would be,” she said in a soft voice.“I think you realized that a little too late. You should have thought about where your loyalties were before you lied to my face and sneaked off behind my back with my brother. I don’t think you would have ev
Kylian's POVI’d been in the same bad mood for a week. Ever since I fired Yvonne. It was weird to fire your fiancée and end an engagement at the same time. Now, if only there were some way for me to divorce my asshole brother who was still working for the company. I still couldn’t believe how stupid I had been. I had thought I was being the clever one by convincing Yvonne to marry me and have my child. That’s what I got for being so cocky I supposed.Kieran was a sneaky bastard, pretending he had no interest in becoming the new head of Litt Groups. What a load of garbage. He wanted it just as badly as I did. The only difference was I told him I wanted it, as I was the oldest of six brothers and deserved it. I was the CEO. I was the one making money hand over fist for the stupid company—not him.Whoever had the first heir won. That clause put into my father’s will was a slap to the face. He had to know how competitive his sons were. I couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t have just given
Kylian's POVI shrugged a shoulder. “What does that have to do with it?”He smiled. “Because, you’re acting differently. You aren’t your normal aloof self. You’re actually pissed at the idea she was going to throw you over for your brother. We all know that has happened before. All of you have burned through more women than I can count. You’ve swapped women and usually either laughed about it or punched the brother and moved on. You’ve never cared before.”“I don’t care.”“Bullshit. You do care. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t be sitting right where you are, all torn up about it. You followed her to a restaurant, to spy on her, because you suspected she was up to something and now, you’re jealous. You’re jealous because you think she’s sleeping with Kieran,” he pointed out.“Jealous. I’m not jealous,” I argued. He raised one eyebrow. “You sure about that?” “I’m mad that Kieran is going behind my back.”“You don’t know that. I know Kieran and that doesn’t sound like him,” Desmond said, pis
Yvonne's POVI was pouting, sulking, and feeling horrible in general after what had happened with Kylian. He said he didn’t care about me, but I couldn’t believe that entirely. I had seen the look of anger on his face when we walked out of that restaurant. I kept replaying the many different ways that could have gone if only I had told him about Kieran’s invitation to meet. I should have told him Friday and I definitely should have told him on Saturday. Oh, and of course, I could have mentioned the little detail on Sunday morning when I left his house to meet Kieran. But I didn’t, and now I was sitting in my apartment feeling completely miserable. I had no job, no future, and no man. I could have survived without the man part, but somewhere from that first meeting with him until Sunday morning, I had found myself falling for him. It shouldn’t have happened so fast, especially given the circumstances of our very strange relationship. It shouldn’t have, but it did. My heart wasn’t liste
Yvonne's POVI groaned. “I wish I could. I’ve been trying. I keep telling myself it is for the best, but it doesn’t feel like it. I can find nothing good about what happened.”She shrugged a shoulder. “I don’t know. There’s the fact you aren’t under his thumb anymore. I mean that wasn’t cool.”I smiled. “I didn’t mind it at all. Is that weird? I mean, I liked the way he dominated me. He didn’t push it too far. It was exciting to have a man be so, so—”“Alpha oldie?” she offered.I laughed. “I guess in a way he was very oldie. It was hot. I could see him bare-chested, pounding his fists and hollering. I was more than happy to let him drag me to his bedroom,” I said, my face heating as I thought about the way he dominated me in the bedroom. She rolled her eyes. “I don’t want to know. You’ve had him. We’ve talked about him, now it’s done. We’re moving on and not looking back. Let’s focus on the future without Kylian Litt in it.”I wanted to protest and tell her no, but I knew she was rig
