Chapter 3

She never knew that this man could be so despicable. First, he threatened her using her father and forced her to marry him. Now, he wanted to introduce her to his buddies but he was not ready to reveal her real identity.

Could her poor life get any more miserable?

But it looks like she had no choice or say in the matter. Looks like she had to continue being Lynn’s shadow even if she loathed it.

Seeing that she was not happy, Vince slightly raised his eyebrows and looked at her.

He opened his mouth and questioned, “What is the matter? don’t you want to go?”

Emmy looked at him and rolled her eyes that they almost entered her skull. In a dull voice, she spoke, “Do I even have a choice of whether I should or should not go?”

Vince nodded his head, indicating that he was proud at least his wife was a bit intelligent, “It is good you know that you don’t have a choice.’’

After saying that, Vince looked at her with an evaluating gaze. It seemed like he was trying to find something on Emmy’s face.

Emmy did not react. She stood there with a poker face and let the man scrutinize her. Her good mood had already been spoiled she did not even want to know what the man was after, by looking at her like that.

After what seemed like forever, Vince finally withdrew his gaze. He wrapped his arms around Emmy’s shoulders and spoke in a low voice, “I hope that you will not disappoint me.”

Vince home coming party was held in one of the most luxurious five-star hotels in the city. The name of the hotel said it all, Grandeur Luxury Hotel.

The party was already on when Vince and Emmy arrived. When they entered the VVIP room, all eyes fell on them. They quickly attracted the attention of everyone in the room.

“Haha Vince, it has been three years. What a wait! But thank God you are finally back.”

The people in the room quickly surrounded Emmy and Vince. Although they were greeting Vince, most of them were checking Emmy out from time to time.

As they smiled at her, Emmy also smiled at them demurely. There were no signs of nervousness on her face as if she was used to attending such events.

After chatting and laughing with them for a while, Vince finally introduced Emmy, who had almost been turned into a backdrop.

He cleared his throat to get everyone’s attention and looked at Emmy before he spoke in a clear voice, “This is my wife.”

“Haha…”

Ben was the first one to laugh out loud before he spoke, “Vince, everyone knows that this is your wife. Isn’t she the famous pianist, Lynn? How could we not recognize her?”

Others laughed as they also spoke, “Yeah, Vince. She is so famous; how could we not recognize her?”

“But why do I have a feeling that she looks more beautiful in person than she does on camera?”

“That is for sure. Some people are naturally beautiful that even cameras can’t do them justice.”

“Yes, you are definitely right.”

Every mention of how Lynn was a top pianist was like a stab in Emmy’s heart. She had no choice but to bear it since at the moment, she was Lynn Sharma.

And for tonight, she had specifically instructed the makeup artist to make her look like Lynn. They already looked so much alike and unless someone was very familiar with them, they would not know they her and Lynn were two completely different people.

Emmy endured the discomfort and the stabs that seemed to pierce through her heart and smiled as she greeted each and every one of them.

The people in the room had a very bad impression of people who were famous, especially celebrities. They always carried themselves with arrogance and they thought that everyone was below them.

Seeing how friendly and approachable Emmy was, she immediately won the hearts of many.

“We have always admired Mrs. Young piano skills. You are young, but very talented. And you are friendly too, I wonder if we will get a chance to see you perform tonight.”

When others heard that, they followed suit and started begging Vince to let Emmy do a live performance.

“I have always wanted to go to her live performance but my schedule is always so fully packed. If I get to experience it tonight, then I will be happy.”

“Right, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we cannot waste it.”

“So, please Mr. Young, kindly allow your wife to mesmerize us with her goddess like performance.”

When Emmy heard their words, her heart tightened and she was actually starting to feel nervous. Although Vince had said that she was going to perform tonight, she knew that he was just joking with her after all, she was not Lynn, the pianist.

She sent him a pleading gaze but Vince seemed to have other plans up his sleeves. With a long chuckle, and completely ignoring Emmy’s pleading gaze, he looked at her and spoke, “Lynn, everyone is so excited to see you perform, what can I do? I think you have no choice but to go up there and play a piece.”

Emmy was shocked when she heard that. She looked at the man as if she was seeing him for the first time.

First of all, she was not Lynn, wasn’t the man afraid that his little secret would be exposed the moment she went on stage.

But looking at his confident yet stern look, Emmy could not bring herself to refuse. Everyone was looking at her with expectant eyes, and she did not know how disappointed they would be when she refused to perform.

Well, since this man did not mind being embarrassed in front of his friends, then she was not going to mind either. She would not be held accountable for the mess that was about to happen.
