ELIZA’S POV

The next morning had come by much quicker than I had expected, more so because I couldn’t sleep the night before.

The act of betrayal and the blatant disrespect I got from not just Derek and his whore but also Diana was too much to bare that it ran through my mind constantly, depriving me of any rest.

I huffed and stuffed the last clothes I had into my suitcase and zipped it up, ready to leave the building that Derek and I were meant to call home.

I pulled up the handles and rolled the suitcase out of the room, on my way to the lobby below.

Just as I got there, my heart set on leaving this place for good, the grating voice of a familiar face called out to me.

“Finally, you’re leaving this mansion. It’s good that you know where you aren’t wanted.” Maya spat at me with a smirk on her face, causing me to come to a stop and frown.

I wasn’t in the mood for her snarky remarks.

I was leaving the pack and never looking back, I didn’t need to reply to her comments. She was nothing to me.

Just as I turned to leave, Maya spoke out again, venom seeping from her tone, like she was just trying to get a rise out of me.

“It’s nice the Lycan King could see that you were useless. I mean a Luna who can’t defend her pack on the battlefield is as good as the dirt beneath my heels. Completely worthless.”

I paused and faced her, feeling my blood boil.

In that moment, one of the house staff passed by and I signaled her to take my things to my car outside while I put this bitch in her place.

The woman did as she was told and once Maya and I were left alone, I unleashed my full fury on her.

“That’s rich coming from a woman who deemed it fair to meddle in someone else’s marriage. What’s wrong? Did no other man fancy you that you thought it a good idea to seduce an already married man? Is that how low you’d stoop?”

Maya opened her mouth to retort but I cut her off with a raise of my hand.

I was still the Luna. She couldn’t speak to me that way.

“What? Did you really think that you were being a good role model by traipsing around the battlefield with the men? Did you think that anyone here is convinced that you of all people actually fought tooth and nail for our pack to survive?” I shouted at her, my lips pulling up into a small smile when I saw her face pale and her mouth drop at my words.

Harsh but true nonetheless.

She needed to know that even if she had gotten Derek into her claws, I was not one to be put down.

“Do not speak to the future Luna of the Crescent Moon Pack in such a manner.” A deep and firm voice scolded me.

I rolled my eyes. If it wasn’t my backstabbing husband, Derek.

Derek walked into the lobby, a sneer on his face as he watched me. He walked over to Maya and held her close, his eyes shooting daggers at me.

“Face it Eliza. The mate bond that I and Maya have is strong and cannot be ignored. You have no idea of the connection we share.” He said to me. I scoffed and folded my arms.

“You both share a connection. A connection that was built on the betrayal of your wife, you cheating bastard!”

“You do not speak to me that way! You are a good for nothing and worthless woman. Do you honestly believe that you could measure up to what Maya accomplished for our pack on the battlefield? You can’t measure up to her. So, shut up and regard her as your new Luna.” Derek screamed back, his nostrils flaring as his new woman smirked at me, holding him tight.

I could feel a storm brewing inside me but I managed to calm myself down, coming to the conclusion that these people weren’t worth it.

“Fine then. Since you want Maya to be your Luna so badly, I’ll have this divorce but I expect that you repay every single dime you owe me.”

As soon as the words left my mouth, Derek’s eyes widened in shock.

“Pay you back what I owe you?” He asked incredulously. “Your lifestyle in the pack was thanks to my efforts in the battlefield and you dare ask me for settlement. You ungrateful bitch.”

Bitch. That was not a word I liked to be called.

In three swift steps, I shortened the distance between Derek and I and slapped him across the face, the sound echoing off the walls of the house, feeling a bit better.

“Finally, give the man what he deserves for betraying you." My wolf cheered me on, whispering to me that I had done the right thing by putting him in his place.

Derek whipped his head to me, his hands balled up into fists, no doubt ready to scream his head off but I didn’t give him the chance.

I spun around and walked off, letting the last sound they heard from me be the clicking of my heels against the tiles.

“How dare you lay a hand on him?” I could hear Maya scream at me but I didn’t give her a moment of my time any longer.

I left the building, got into my car and drove off, leaving the Crescent Moon Pack behind and making my way home.

In about an hour, my car began to pull into the familiar terrain of my former pack. The Silver Moon Pack.

The tall trees moved with the wind and the smell of the freshly wet soil sent shivers up my spine.

Without warning my heart began to race, memories of what happened here the last six months flooding back.

The time when spies from the Western Plain slaughtered my family when I was occupied by stupid affairs with another pack.

When I had found only the blood soaked ruins of my home and the lifeless bodies of my grandmother and mother strewn across the fallen banners like they were nothing more than toys to be discarded off when they weren’t wanted anymore.

My car came to a halt at the site of where it all happened and I came down, walking tentatively towards the broken house and beside it, my family’s graves, my eyes watering up.

The bad thoughts were replaced with good memories as I remembered the joyful days when I trained with my family for hours on end.

I remembered when my mum would cook dinner for us and we would eat under the moonlight. Her hand stroking my hair when she told us stories of the moon goddess.

The times when my father would take us out to the forest to run with the wind.

The way he would badger my brothers to get it right over and over again with a smile on his face. The love that both my parents and my brothers had for me and yet I wasn't there to help them. To save them.

I could see it all as if a movie was replaying in my head. I sniffled knowing that I couldn’t go back there even if I tried.

The tears that I had been holding back streamed down my face, each one with loss and regret.

I fell to my knees, the burden of their death weighing down on me.

“It will be fine Eliza. You will get through this. We will have our revenge on the people who did this and we will avenge our family." My wolf whispered words of solace, reminding me that the past could not be undone but vengeance was still within my grasp.

Her voice not only calmed me but gave me a sense of purpose.

With my wolf’s words and my mind made up, I muttered a silent plea to the souls of my family, begging them to be with me on this path I had chosen.

After my time at the graveyard, I had to do the only thing left before I started on my quest for revenge.

I headed back to my car amidst the rubble and took out my phone from my purse, calling the one person I knew would still be on my side after everything that had happened.

My former assistant and the pack’s financial officer, Lily.

The call rang twice before she finally answered.

“Lily." I called her name.

“Luna Eliza. Where are you? I've been meaning to see you especially after the news the employees just received from Alpha Derek." Lily informed me but I sighed and shrugged it off.

She most likely knew who Maya was to Derek now and she still insisted on calling me her Luna. Lily was quite the character but I had more pressing matters at hand.

“Forget about that for now Lily. I need you to book a flight to the city for me.”

"Where to?” She asked me without any hesitation.

"The Lycan Kingdom. I need a flight first thing tomorrow.” I repeated, “Can you do that?”

"Of course Luna." She acknowledged before I ended the call and settled into the driver's seat.

I was going to petition the Lycan King for Justice.

I was going to make Derek return all that he owed me.

I would get back my rightful compensation and assets from him and then I would set out to avenge my family.

DEREK’s POVI had always pursued Eliza for two fundamental reasons: her substantial wealth and her undeniable beauty. Not that her beauty meant much to me. It was nothing more than a superficial attribute. She was merely a trophy, a means to an end. A means that I had no choice but to use.The truth was, I despised everything about her role as a housewife. What contribution did such women make to the Lycan Kingdom? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.Luna’s like her were decorative at best and a burden at worst.Eliza was the epitome of everything I found frustrating about traditional pack dynamics—women who existed in the shadows of their husbands, contributing nothing to the pack's strength or survival but yet reaping the rewards of where they did not sow.The only thing they were held on a pedestal for was siring heirs to the throne or just as the children of the Alpha of the pack. That mentality had made Eliza unbearable. We didn’t spend a day together since we got married but I couldn’t

ELIZA’S POVI hadn't expected to run into Derek and Maya at all.The mall had always been somewhat my sanctuary—a place where I could analyze business operations, browse quietly, and momentarily escape. It was a place of peace especially since I knew that Derek wouldn’t ever set foot in the place. However, it turned out today I was wrong. When they appeared, I chose to ignore them first. My mother had always taught me that dignity was a weapon more powerful than any harsh words. But Maya, it seemed, didn’t learn such a lesson while growing up because her shrill voice called out to me."Look who's here," she sneered, her voice dripping with malice. “I didn’t think that you had enough money to shop in a place like this Eliza especially with the divorce so close at hand.” Maya jeered, thinking that she had landed a hit to my ego.I still ignored her, dropping the purse in my hand and reaching for another item to check the quality. It was Mom's voice. This time, I didn't need any confirmation to know it was her.But what was Mom doing at the battlefield?I quickly turned to the direction of her voice and saw her standing in the middle of fallen warriors, her dress soaked in blood; blood so thick I could taste the coppery thang in my throat.'Mom, run!' We should be enjoying our freedom, not running away from an attractive male.""I'm not running," I muttered, though my hasty retreat said otherwise."Oh? So what do you call that graceful sprint just now?" She laughed. "Face it, his Alpha aura affects us. Affects you. There's nothing wrong with that.""It doesn't affect me. ELIZA’S POVMy heart constricted as I stood before what remains of my childhood home. The pack house, once proud and magnificent, now stood in haunting ruins.Crumbling walls told stories of neglect, while weeds thrust through cracks in the courtyard stones like nature's slow-moving revenge. The sight brought tears to my eyes, but I forced them back. I couldn’t show weakness, not now. I walk through the ruins until the pack members and I reach a suitable place in the middle of it all, my back turning to the home I left behind to address my new pack. The gathered wolves watched me with expectant eyes as I began to speak. A subtle nod passed between us – it was time.My heart pounded as I stood, knowing what came next would change everything."I request all pack members to gather immediately," I announced, my voice carrying the authority I'd earned.I watched as Derek's face contorted in confusion, clearly not expecting this turn of events."You don't have the right to request such a thing. You are no longer the Luna of the pack and therefore the pack no longer answers to you.""I never addressed the pack when our marriage was annulled. It was my right and since I never did that, I request to do it now." I shot back, but Derek scoffed."You lost that right when you...""You mean when you had an affair and brought back another woman to the pack?" Alexander butted in. DEREK’S POVI paced in my quarters, my hands shaking with barely contained rage. This wasn't how today was supposed to go.When I had walked into that settlement meeting, I had expected Eliza to grovel at my feet for mercy, to show some kind of desperation.Instead, that bastard Alexander had swept in like an avenging angel and turned everything on its head.I was the one who left empty-handed and with shame hanging over my head.Three million dollars. The number echoed in my mind like a death knell. I sucked at my teeth, wondering how this had happened.I was an Alpha of the pack for God's sake.A celebrated general, personally praised by the king for my efforts in the war, and yet I found myself in debt to the woman I had cast aside. It wasn't fair.If Alexander hadn't shown up when he did, then I might have been able to convince the auditor. The memory of Alexander's arrival made my blood boil. The way he had strode into that room, emanating power and authority, had immediately shi

ELIZA’S POV"What is going on here?!" The commanding voice filled up the room, making us freeze in our tracks but still turn to see who stood there. It was Alexander. He stood in the doorway, his broad shoulders filling the frame. His grey eyes, sharp as steel, took in the scene before him – Derek's aggressive stance, my defensive position, Lily's reddened wrist, and the scattered documents between us.His gaze held authority, the kind that made even the most dominant wolves yield.A gaze that made even me stop in my tracks."I asked a question," Alexander's voice dropped lower, more dangerous as he looked between us."Would someone care to explain why a simple property settlement meeting has devolved into this?"The air had thickened with authority the moment Alexander entered the room.My wolf stirred, releasing a pleased rumble deep in my chest at his arrival.I hadn't expected him here at Crescent Moon Pack, but I couldn't deny the sudden feeling of security his presence brought.
