Selena's POV

"Your attention, seer, is needed in the house of Gregory. His wolf needs healing. It's on the verge of death, " the guard informed me in his deep voice as he walked before me.

" I see, we would get there before dusk, but I have an urgent need to attend to," I replied, trying to maintain a neutral voice as he jolted me out of my thoughts.

"Alright, my lady."

The fading light of the day cast long shadows across the landscape as we emerged out of the cave, more like skeletal fingers reaching out to snatch at my ankles. My stomach churn at the smell of damp air and decaying leaves, a morbid perfume filled my nostrils, making me feel like a little teen werewolf again.

But I still couldn't shake off the from that something was terribly wrong, something that would shake the authority defining moonstone pack.

The Aeges stone itself, the grand and ancient artifact of protection in the pack seemed artificial, which means it's been stolen or something.

Selena's POVAs soon as I took the last bite of the meat, Rowan stood up in his usual majestic form."Seer, I think it's time we attend the grand dinner. We mustn't keep your Alpha waiting, " he said, his lead warrior getting up too."Certainly we mustn't," I replied, taking a step backward and bumping on the guard that followed me."Are you alright, my lady?" he asked, jolting as he realized what he called me."My lady? Ha! the guard calls the seer a lady," one of the warrior standing close by mocked, the whole camping bursting into laughter."Enough! I won't have anyone of you make fun of the seer. Not now, not ever!" Raven roared, trying hard to top the laughter with her voice. She was successful as the laughter died almost immediately.Rowan just stared at me, almost expressionless as he watched what was going on. "You'd sit beside me in my chariot, if you wish. There's no much time left," he finally said, walking away from the fire."I think it's best to go with him," the guard w

Selena's POV"Remember what we discussed, don't you?" I asked Kato, as he looked at me in bewilderment."Of course, my lady," he whispered, turning sideways. "Hey you, I'll call when I need you, and you too," he said, pointing at two chefs. They both looked at him in surprise as they put down their gloves, leaving the kitchen. He also ordered some more workers out of the kitchen, citing some excuse about needing to fetch more ingredients from the storage room. I nodded, looking around and noting that the kitchen was narrowly emptied, left for Kato and two other staffs."Just as you wished, Seer," Kato said, bowing slightly, his hands humbly behind his back. He looked so innocent in his attire, his thoughts seemingly far away from any bad intentions.I nodded again. "You've done well. I won't be long. I just need to verify a certain cooking process, " I said, tracing the outer parts of the container of poison round my cloak.I turned and made my way over to the counter where the speci

Selena's POVWith a newfound sense of purpose, I turned and walked back out into the dining hall, ready to face whatever lay ahead. The music was still playing, the laughter and chatter of the pack members still filling the air. But I knew that I had changed, that I had grown. I had faced my demons, and I had come out on top.As I walked back to my seat, I caught sight of Raven, sitting across from me with a smug look on her face. But I didn't feel any anger or hatred towards her. Instead, I felt a sense of pity, a sense of sadness. She was so consumed by her own hatred and anger, so blinded by her own desires that prompted her to act against me back then.I shook my head, feeling a sense of disappointment wash over me. As I sat back down in my seat, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The night was still young, and I knew that there were still many challenges ahead. But I was ready, I was prepared. I was a seer, a healer. And I would always stand by my principles, no matter

Selena's POVAs the pack's members watched in silence, Rowan's eyes bored into Zane's daring him to disagree."This can't be, Rowan. There's no such thing as poison in any food here," Zane said, his expression turning sour as he thought of the possibilities of such."Then the chefs should check the food, nothing more, nothing less," Rowan said."Rowan stop all these," Raven said, seemingly getting irritated at her brother's incessant demands."If we're going to check the food," Rowan started, his voice firm as he ignored his sister, "then we need to do it properly. I suggest one of the chefs try the food, that's pretty much not a big deal, is it?"I just sat there, watching as the drama unfolded. Did he eavesdrop on any of my conversations with Kato? What gave him the 'hunch' of poisoning, on Raven's meal to be specific?Zane who was already standing took two steps backwards, his eyes widening in surprise and disgust."What?" Zane exclaimed. "You can't be serious! We can't just ask on

Selena's POVAs I looked around the table, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Rowan's eyes seemed to bore into mine as he murmured some strange words. Raven's eyes, on the other hand was sparkling with a mixture of curousity and concern. And then there was Zane, his expression serious, but I could still sense unease beneath it all. He was a good leader, but he was also a cautious one. He didn't seem ready to take any chances on the safety of any pack member.Just how the meal that was meant to be one of unity and peace quickly turned sour, thanks to Rowan and his inquisitiveness."Very well then," Rowan started, his voice firm." Let's get on with it. Who's going to test the food? "We all paused, sharing glances with each other. Some of the chefs present turned down their faces. Then Kato walked in, as Innocent as ever."You there, Kato. We need your expertise over here," Zane called, stretching his hands towards Kato.At that moment my wolf grumbled inside me. I

She seemed to put in a mask of emotions all through."You!" she screamed, her finger pointing accusingly at me. "You did this, Selena. You decided to put our pack to shame! You poisoned Kato."The room fell silent, with all eyes turning towards my direction, expecting more or less a form of defence from me.I stood there, frozen in stunned silence as I tried to lean on Zane for support."What's the meaning of this accusation?" Zane asked his sister. "Selena had nothing to do with Kato's death."But Karen seemed to be beyond reason, as her eyes blazed in anger, her voice rising in a hysterical pitch. Chapter 206The battlefield was filled with chaos. The entire place was filled with the cry of my men as they fell to the ground, bloodied, bruised and some dead. Growls and the sound of flesh being cut tore through the thick air and the scent of blood and churned earth filled the entire atmosphere. My gaze swept over the field, my claws withdrawn from my hands as I watched the rest of Rowan's deserters close in on us, large swords, axes and arrows by their side, the sharp metal gleaming in the weak light of dawn. That was why they seemed endless. They were just dying, but more were diverging from the war with Zane go come here. A low growl escaped my lips, my face squeezing into a deep frown as I jumped down from my horse. One of the warriors rode towards me, a bow and arrow in their hand. The arrow was shot towards me but I quickly grabbed it midair and threw it back at him. Before he could register what was happening, the sharp metal sunk into his head and he dropped down dead.

Selena's POVBefore the sun had even begun to rise, I had already rounded up the warriors who had pledged to fight with me. The morning air held a stale scent that seemed fresh of combat and blood, a harsh reminder of the war that still laid ahead of us. I stood at the center of the packs training fields, and with me were the warriors—men and women who had previously been divided but now were with me. They had a mixture of determination and skepticism in their eyes. I knew there were those who still doubted, but I could not allow skepticism to take root among us."Mount your horses," I commanded, my voice firm. "We ride out now."They took their places, marching to the stables where our horses already waited saddled and prepared. I had ordered the stable lads to ensure that each horse was in prime order for the forthcoming long ride and they had toiled all through the night to do so. Fresh hay mixed with morning due, the sound of waiting hooves, and the sweat of warriors fastening

  • The Betrayed Luna Strikes Back   Chapter 204

Selena’s POVAs we approached, the guards stationed at the gates of Mysticshadow Pack immediately tensed, their hands tightening around the weapons they held by their side. The lit torches hung on the wall flickered in the night, casting ominous shadows on their stern faces. I could see the hesitation in their eyes. They seemed like new guards as I didn't recognize them, but from their scent, I knew they were one of us.I knew they recognized me, but there was some underlying tension in their gazes as they stared at me. I knew something had happened since I had last stepped foot here. But they still knew better than make a move. “Halt!” one of them commanded, stepping forward, his claws half drawn. His sharp gaze scanned me from head to toe. “State your business.”“Are you dumb?” I muttered through clenched teeth as I walked towards the guard. “I came to gather alliances. The Moonstone Pack is under siege, and we must unite to stop the war.”The guard hesitated for a moment when he

Zane's POVIt was a scene from a battlefield, the packhouse transformed into a killing ground. And I, Zane, was powerless to stop it. All I could do was watch in horror as my pack, my friends, and my family were slaughtered before my very eyes. The flaming arrows seemed to come from everywhere, a relentless barrage of fire that seemed to never end. It was as if the very stars themselves were falling from the sky, each one a deadly missile aimed straight at our hearts. And I, Zane, was the only one who could stop it. But how? The question echoed through my mind, a desperate cry for help that seemed to go unanswered.I wished at that point that Selena would just walk in with her warriors. We desperately needed them. I sighted a flaming arrow travelling towards an elderly werewolf who used his back to protect his offsprings. It was travelling towards him with speed."Look out!!" I roared, but he was too old to move, to weak to. Rushing towards him, I stretched my hand and grabbed the ar

Zane's POVI took a step forward, my eyes burning with intensity. "We will not go quietly into the night. We will not roll over and surrender to our enemies. We will fight, with every ounce of strength we possess. We will fight for our pack, for our families, and for our very lives."The crowd erupted into a chorus of cheers and applause, their faces set with determination and their eyes burning with a fierce hunger for battle. I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and purpose wash over me.We would fight, and we would win. We would defend our pack, and our way of life. We would emerge victorious, or we would die trying.I was still filled with such encouragment and purposeful passion that I hadn't felt since I was a young child when a warrior from the borders ran up to one of the elders.I knew that something wasn't right, and as I waited for words to reach me, I looked up to the sky. Karen was no longer considered as a sister, and she would dearly pay for all these, but first, I have several battles to win.I walked back to the large hall, and I watched as the healers tried all they could to revive the fallen warriors."We're nothing without the seer," one of the healers said softly as I approached her, her eyes fixed pleadingly on me."What's the situation?" I asked, squatting beside her and paying a dead ear to her earlier complaint."I've found his pulse Alpha," she said in a whisper, placing her hand on the guard's wrist and shutting her eyes slowly. "His wolf is fully alive!!""So?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows as I stared at her. " What stops you then?"She looked down dejectedly, her face long. "We all have tried, but it just doesn't work!! It's a strange art of healing to trigger his wolf to charge a pulse in his heart. "I let out a breath, glancing at the guard and
