Karen's P.O.V

I bursted into the throne room, my heart beating hard against my ribs as the scene back at the forest kept on replaying in my head. I took in deep breaths as I felt like my lungs were about to fail me. I tried to breathe in but I did so too fast and ended up choking. I tried to compose myself, but what met my eyes blew away my last remnant of restraint.

A shirt gasp escaped my lips as I froze in place.

Selena and Zane.

Not only had they left me behind in MysticShadow Pack, but they were also entangled with each other, right here in the sacred throne room!

'No. this can't be happening,' I thought to myself as different thoughts raced through my mind.

"Selena!! Zane!!" I roared as my voice echoed off the grand marble walls. "What the hell is going on here?!"

They were wrapped in a passionate embrace, with Selena's fingers dancing around the locks of Zane's hair, while his hands clasped her around the waist as though wanting to never let go. They shared a passionate kiss

Selena's POVI walked around the packhouse, my feet seeming to be taking strides of it's own as I struggled to keep my mind up. Every turn seemed familiar, yet distant.Zane told me earlier that I spent a great part of my years as a seer in this pack, healing packmembers and venturing with the warriors into wars, but all that seemed far away as I found it tough to recall even the most seemingly common butler or room keeper."With time you'd recall them all," Zane had said to me earlier and I believed him, but the more I walked around the more it seemed all too distant. I took a step out of the pack house and into the pack surrounding, the packmembers flooding towards me in different groups."Long live the great seer, bless you Seer, here comes the Seer who saved my life by healing me," I heard from the different groups as they ran towards me.I smiled at them, nodding to their various greetings, bit deep within me it all felt like a dream, where everything was all fuzzy. Selena's POVWe walked on, the female werewolf not saying a word, her eyes fixed on some point ahead.I heard the low murmuring of pack members behind me as we forged on, a cold shiver running down my spine. I could sense their anxiety, their desperation. They felt they were losing the great seer that they once knew and hoped on, and I felt their pain.We eventually reached the front of a small, rustic enclave where she dwelled, and instinctively, the pack members stopped outside as she pushed open the wedge she kept."May the good goddess be with you," a female pack member who helped her remove the wedge whispered to her ear, taking steps backwards. I swallowed at this, trying all the best all I could to reconnect to the healing powers they claimed I possessed which I knew I didn't.But I felt nothing, and it only added to my unease. I would fail them all the put their trust in me.The werewolf took steps inside, and I hesitated, staring into the dimly lit room."You could come in S

Selena's POVAs I walked towards the werewolf, I tried hard to maintain my footsteps, trying hard not to stumble in pressure, but my legs betrayed me, as I almost fell down as I moved, my legs wobbling."Are you alright dear Seer?" the male werewolf asked, making it definitely the second time he was asking the question.I turned back, smiling at him and forging on. It would surely be a mockery to my face if I failed to heal the lad, and this time a larger group of werewolves would turn to ask me if I was okay.I thought steadfastly about the mother's tears and the uncle's great expectations that the young werewolf would come back to us former state. The burdens of their hopes and expectations grew to be a burden on my shoulders. As I reached them young werewolf's side, I swallowed hard. Gazing down at his face, his pale and gaunt face, my heart went out for him. His skim was damp, his eyes sunken. I noticed his chest rise and fall with shallow, laboured breaths, making me to feel a

Selena's POVI followed the packmembers as they carried the werewolf on the stretcher, a sense of desperation feeling me. I just had to remember something, anything about my past as a healer. The lad shouldn't just die."He'll be fine," I heard the male werewolf tell the mother of the sick one in a whisper. "The Seer still has something up her sleeves," he added.A pang of guilt that I just couldn't imagine creeped into my heart, forcing me to stumble as I followed the packmembers to the packhouse. "No, you've got this Selena," I whispered to myself, closing my eyes and breathing deeply at a spot. The packmembers behind me stood still for a while, only to continue trudging forward without interrupting my thought process.I recalled snippets of conversations, fleeting images of warriors and places, and also Rowan. He was just there, standing still with a sort of wand in his hand."Selena," he whispered. "You're not getting your powers back, and you know it."I shook my head violently

Selena's POVStill watching Karen, I noticed as her hands began to move in an intricate pattern. I looked around me, the packmembers also caught in surprise as I was."What's going on here. Karen?" I called. Karen had been so good to me since we returned to this pack, providing my meal morning and evening, and oh, she was a great chef. But not a healer?Without raising her head to acknowledge my presence or voice, she waved her hand. "Don't let her come close," she whispered, her face and body fully concentrated on the lad before her.I watched her in awe, my mouth fully agape. What was truly going on? Or was she a healer, and I just couldn't remember? No, not likely, for she would have mentioned it during the numerous times she had served me.I felt I needed to know more, the lad shouldn't die, and if Karen wasn't truly a healer as she acted, he'd surely die!!I stormed forward, trying to pass through the thick wall formed by the pack members, but I felt a strong weight on my shoulde

Selena's POVI stood there, frozen to the spot in shock and complete amazement. The young werewolf's eyes flickered open, as he raised his hands for assistance."Good gracious," his uncle called as he ran towards him, helping him get steady."No, this can't be," I said under my breath, holding my mouth almost immediately. Surely I wanted the lad to survive, but not this way, not through Karen.Damn!! Something was surely out of place.I watched as his chest began to rise and fall with a slow, steady rhythm, further confirming that he was alive."Let him lay his back, he's still in the healing process," Karen said with a voice laced in complete confidence and authority, hovering her shoulder high and brushing past me.How dare she? I felt a pang of pain rise in my chest as I watched this all. Where was Zane when I needed him the most? But then as I watched on, something unexpected happened. His muscles slowly began to tense, his muscles flexing and rippling beneath his skin. His eyes

Rowan's POVSitting on the high throne of Redmoon pack, I gazed at the nothingness in front of me. An exciting feeling was gradually brewing within me, as I thought about how increasingly possible it was to conquer the leadership of Mysticshadow pack and rule over it. "There's no current Alpha there, my lord," a spy I sent several moons ago reported earlier this morning. "The story that Selena had gone insane and had lost her memory had done pretty well in dwelling among the packmembers, " he added, rubbing his hands mischievously. A witty smile escaped my lips as I thought about this. Karen had made it all too simple for me, and now, I had just the perfect opportunity.Leaning back on the throne, I steepled my fingers as I thought about the plans I proposed to use. "I'd gather my strongest warriors and wedge a battle against them," I thought at first, but then I recalled that I trained a good chunk of the warriors of the pack, and fighting against them would be fatal. As I weighe

Rowan's POVI watched as the elder rose to oppose my life long dreams. He was met with hostility and skepticism, much to my delight. One by one. they began to growl heavily and fiercely against him."I don't know why you hold so much importance to this!!!" one of the warriors roared, rising to his feet. They slowly began to speak up against him, their voices high and topping the roof."We're the ones who can decide our destiny as it is, " onw of the warriors, Thorne, his beard thick and bristling with indignation. "We'd win this one for Alpha Rowan," he paused, turning to me and whispering. "Just say the words Alpha Rowan, just say the words."" Aye, and what says the prophesy if it's wrong? " Another warrior, a thick, black werewolf named Lyra. "We've heard countless times of prophesies that went wrong, and this won't be an exception, surely, would it? " he asked. turning to the other warriors, his eyes furrowed. The elderly's warrior' eyes remained constantly fixed on Rowan. "You'l

"I pulled it from his hands and glanced through it before he finished."Meet me at the Crescent valley of blood or I'll expose you all!! You stole her powers Karen, now your wolf is insane. If you want to get back to your r former state, meet me there by dusk. Perhaps the healing power would return... just perhaps."I read it loud." The powers Karen, think about it!! We'd kill the bloody messenger as soon as we get what we want, and this all would end!!" Rowan exclaimed as soon as I dropped the letter." Then what about the attack? " I asked him. Something just didn't feel right about all this, and I couldn't point it out.Rowan scoffed, a cloud of desperation hovering around his eyes. "What damn attack Karen? Karen's POVHaving been in Redmoon pack for five days, hunting and eating with them, I was beginning to feel sick of it all.I waited, day after day and night after night for news from the party of packs that attacked Moonstone pack, but nothing was coming forth."Battles take days, sometimes weeks," Rowan would always say. " Give them time Karen. Moonstone pack would be in our palms in just a matter of days, Selena dead!!"I always felt relieved whenever he talked about the death of Selena, but on the morning of the fifth day, I couldn't take it anymore."We need to get to them Rowan!! I can't stand this anymore," I said to him as soon as I got to his chamber.Still with his pipe, he turned his attention to me and puffed."Tell me Karen. What chance does Moonstone pack have to win the war waged against them? " he asked, taking in some more from the pipe.I shot a gaze at him, trying all I could to restrict the joyful smile that tried to form on my face."They have no chance Rowan...

Never must you attack anyone here in Redmoon pack, " the voice repeated, louder than the last. I was still trying to open my eyes but I felt a surge of confusion as I did so.The voice was familiar, and as I struggled to make out who it was, I finally looked up.It was Rowan. What was he up to this time, I wondered within me.His face was twisted in a snarl and as he raised his hand, my eyes dilated."You!!!" he started to roar as his hand descended towards me.As if in cue, my wolf stirred almost immediately and before his hand could get to me, I had already grabbed it in a quick reflex.Fully awake, I roared at him. "Don't you dare!!" I got up from what I figured out to be a bed and stared at him, wondering where all that came from.My

Chapter 206The battlefield was filled with chaos. The entire place was filled with the cry of my men as they fell to the ground, bloodied, bruised and some dead. Growls and the sound of flesh being cut tore through the thick air and the scent of blood and churned earth filled the entire atmosphere. My gaze swept over the field, my claws withdrawn from my hands as I watched the rest of Rowan's deserters close in on us, large swords, axes and arrows by their side, the sharp metal gleaming in the weak light of dawn. That was why they seemed endless. They were just dying, but more were diverging from the war with Zane go come here. A low growl escaped my lips, my face squeezing into a deep frown as I jumped down from my horse. One of the warriors rode towards me, a bow and arrow in their hand. The arrow was shot towards me but I quickly grabbed it midair and threw it back at him. Before he could register what was happening, the sharp metal sunk into his head and he dropped down dead.

Selena's POVBefore the sun had even begun to rise, I had already rounded up the warriors who had pledged to fight with me. The morning air held a stale scent that seemed fresh of combat and blood, a harsh reminder of the war that still laid ahead of us. I stood at the center of the packs training fields, and with me were the warriors—men and women who had previously been divided but now were with me. They had a mixture of determination and skepticism in their eyes. I knew there were those who still doubted, but I could not allow skepticism to take root among us."Mount your horses," I commanded, my voice firm. "We ride out now."They took their places, marching to the stables where our horses already waited saddled and prepared. I had ordered the stable lads to ensure that each horse was in prime order for the forthcoming long ride and they had toiled all through the night to do so. Fresh hay mixed with morning due, the sound of waiting hooves, and the sweat of warriors fastening

Selena’s POVAs we approached, the guards stationed at the gates of Mysticshadow Pack immediately tensed, their hands tightening around the weapons they held by their side. The lit torches hung on the wall flickered in the night, casting ominous shadows on their stern faces. I could see the hesitation in their eyes. They seemed like new guards as I didn't recognize them, but from their scent, I knew they were one of us.I knew they recognized me, but there was some underlying tension in their gazes as they stared at me. I knew something had happened since I had last stepped foot here. But they still knew better than make a move. “Halt!” one of them commanded, stepping forward, his claws half drawn. His sharp gaze scanned me from head to toe. “State your business.”“Are you dumb?” I muttered through clenched teeth as I walked towards the guard. “I came to gather alliances. The Moonstone Pack is under siege, and we must unite to stop the war.”The guard hesitated for a moment when he

  • The Betrayed Luna Strikes Back   Chapter 203

Zane's POVIt was a scene from a battlefield, the packhouse transformed into a killing ground. And I, Zane, was powerless to stop it. All I could do was watch in horror as my pack, my friends, and my family were slaughtered before my very eyes. The flaming arrows seemed to come from everywhere, a relentless barrage of fire that seemed to never end. It was as if the very stars themselves were falling from the sky, each one a deadly missile aimed straight at our hearts. And I, Zane, was the only one who could stop it. But how? The question echoed through my mind, a desperate cry for help that seemed to go unanswered.I wished at that point that Selena would just walk in with her warriors. We desperately needed them. I sighted a flaming arrow travelling towards an elderly werewolf who used his back to protect his offsprings. It was travelling towards him with speed."Look out!!" I roared, but he was too old to move, to weak to. Rushing towards him, I stretched my hand and grabbed the ar

Zane's POVI took a step forward, my eyes burning with intensity. "We will not go quietly into the night. We will not roll over and surrender to our enemies. We will fight, with every ounce of strength we possess. We will fight for our pack, for our families, and for our very lives."The crowd erupted into a chorus of cheers and applause, their faces set with determination and their eyes burning with a fierce hunger for battle. I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and purpose wash over me.We would fight, and we would win. We would defend our pack, and our way of life. We would emerge victorious, or we would die trying.I was still filled with such encouragment and purposeful passion that I hadn't felt since I was a young child when a warrior from the borders ran up to one of the elders.I knew that something wasn't right, and as I waited for words to reach me, I looked up to the sky. My mind suddenly drifted to a distant past, very distant."You can tell it all by looking up in the nigh

Zane's POVAs I watched Selena walk away from me, I gasped softly, my heart palpitating. Karen was no longer considered as a sister, and she would dearly pay for all these, but first, I have several battles to win.I walked back to the large hall, and I watched as the healers tried all they could to revive the fallen warriors."We're nothing without the seer," one of the healers said softly as I approached her, her eyes fixed pleadingly on me."What's the situation?" I asked, squatting beside her and paying a dead ear to her earlier complaint."I've found his pulse Alpha," she said in a whisper, placing her hand on the guard's wrist and shutting her eyes slowly. "His wolf is fully alive!!""So?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows as I stared at her. " What stops you then?"She looked down dejectedly, her face long. "We all have tried, but it just doesn't work!! It's a strange art of healing to trigger his wolf to charge a pulse in his heart. "I let out a breath, glancing at the guard and
