Rowan's POV"Alpha Darius is dead!!" I heard a voice call out. Turning around, I saw his warriors shiver, their claws still on the mystic shadow pack warriors' necks. My eyes scanned the battlefield, noting how the warriors around me seemed to freeze, their face pale."What do we do now?" one asked the other, his grip on the enemy's neck softening. The enemy warrior took advantage of the situation. His muscles tensed and his body coiling with anticipation, he struck."Arrgh.... we should re..." the warrior paused, screaming and wincing in pain. I saw as the blood from the warrior gleamed in the setting sun from the other warrior's claws. With another sudden and vicious wipe, the enemy warrior lashed again, more like taking total vengeance on the single warrior. His claws struck his target with sudden precision, ranking across his flesh and tearing it off.It was a terrible sight to behold.I had to act fast and I knew it. I knew for certain that I had to break in, to shatter the sil
Rowan's POV"Enough!!" Cain roared, his face twisting in a snarl. "Enough of all these nonsense I say!!"We all turned and looked at him. I knew for sure that he would be a pain in the ass, and I was expecting this."Rowan deserves to be nothing but killed, not to lead us!! He's a traitor. For sure he led us here to be killed by his former warriors. He knows their weakness and strength, but he failed to reveal them to us. He must be killed, " he bellowed, his voice cutting across the battlefield. I stood tall, my eyes locking on Cain as he went on and on."He has shown prowess and strength in combat, taking down three able bodied warriors, the very three that killed Alpha Darius," Kael said, countering Cain and echoing loudly."I'm not a traitor, I've been fighting alongside you all, working hard for the success of the battle, cutting and tearing the enemy warriors with my claws, all for this fight," I paused, looking at the faces of the warriors one after the other. "I was chosen
Rowan's POVBut Cain had nothing to say; his eyes slitted, watched in silence as warriors rallied behind me. He drew his claws back in, but the glare was relentless-a silent promise that this battle between us was far from over."We attack my sunrise!!" I repeated, hoping to cemetery my voice of authority once more. This would be my only means of surviving and getting eventual revenge on Selena and her allies."No. They'd be expecting us by then," a female voice rang out in opposition. We all turned around to look at the direction of the voice. She looked just like the other warriors with exceptions only at her glowing yellow eyes, emitting an intense, piercing gaze."We'd only lead ourselves to eventual death and loss if we attack again tomorrow, " she added, walking towards me in confidence." This isn't the right place to have this discussion," Kael interjected. " Let's head to our base. ""No," Cain opposed, walking steadily behind Ketura the female warrior. "If we're to have any
Rowan's POVThe hailing went on and on, and I laid there on the cold ground catching my breath and preparing for another round. The thought of giving up and running into the forest came to my mind at that point. But the urge to fight on persisted, and I found myself attacking Cain with a renewed effort. The fight grew intense as moments passed, our claws ringing out as we exchanged blows after blows. The warriors watched with excitement as our blood gushed out from our skin. And then, at its height of intensity, I saw my chance.Cain left himself open, his guards down. He seemed to believe that I was too weak to take further serious thoughts on."You're no match for me!!" he had said, blood gushing from my ribs and from his claws."The match has been decided!!" Ketura eagerly said.I took advantage of the opportunity, my claws flashing out, forming a deadly arc. The warriors grew excited at the sudden surge of energy I displayed.Cain tried to dodge, but it was too late. My claws sa
Rowan's POV"What's coming to us is greater than we can imagine!!" I roared to no one in particular." But we must fight!!"As the words were coming out of my mouth, another set of arrows came flying towards our direction. This time, they weren't only just flames, but thick blue flames."Selena," I whispered to myself. I knew she was coming with them, and I wasn't prepared for my final battle with her. Not defenceless at least. My warriors scrambled to find shelter in whatever they saw, but there wasn't shade available and it was clear that we would be out numbered. I stood still and watched in horror as some of my warriors were struck by the arrows, their bodies falling on the ground like logs."Commander I suggest we run for our lives.... " Kael started to say, but he too was struck down by the arrow."Kael!!!" I screamed, running towards him. He was shot on the back."My commander! The chosen one," he said, blood choking his words as he fell on my hand."No!" I screamed again, for
Rowan's POVI charged forward, my sword clashing through the air as I charged at the enemy warriors. All around me they fought in a familiar fighting pattern and I always came out victorious. But as I looked around and scanned the battlefield, I discovered that for sure we were outnumbered and my warriors were falling in their numbers."Keep on, we run, we die!!" I roared, encouraging my warriors." Aim at their chest region, that the pinnacle of their power!! "Mystic shadow pack warriors paused in their fight as I said this. They knew I had revealed a topmost secret and they were soon to be in trouble."Defend yourselves!!" their captain ordered."Rowan, look out!!!" a voice said, compelling me to take a quick turn. A warrior was charging towards me, his claws shot out as he rode his horse with proper expertise and determination. He wore a metal mask, his face properly covered."What the...." I started to say but was cut short by the speed of the horse. As the horse got closer, I
Rowan's POVJust as I thought all was lost, I heard a faint voice, a voice that seemed to come from far away. "Selena, we have to get you out of here!" It was Zane's voice, and I felt a surge of anger. I heard the sound of fighting, the clash of claws and the snarls of the warriors. Zane and his warriors had arrived, and they were fighting to protect Selena.I was beyond caring. My world had narrowed down to a single point, a point of intense pain and darkness. I was vaguely aware of the battle raging on, but it was distant, unimportant. As the darkness closed in around me, I heard the sound of Zane's voice, faint but clear."He dared to take your powers?" he roared, then everything went blank again.Selena's POVI slowly opened my eyes, taking in my surroundings groggily. I noticed first the warm stream of sun rays streaming in through the window. In an attempt to clear the haze from my eyes, I blinked severally. Where was I?I shut my eyes again, trying hard to recall what happene
Rowan’s povAs she worked, I could feel a sort of subtle energy emanating from her hands, one that had an effect on my whole being."You'll be strong again in no time my lady, strong to take after where you've stopped, " the healer chipped in rather cheerfully."Thank you Elara," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "You've been most kind.""I learned from the very best, my lady, now lay back and enjoy the rest of the morning. You'd be back on your fit, ready to heal the pack of it's bruises with your healing power and the help of the moon goddess," she said, grinning from ear to ear.Her last words struck me like a hot metal in my heart.I've lost my powers, and they didn't know that yet. Rowan's POVI felt satisfied at last. With Selena's powers I was sure to conquer not only her pack, but other packs in the continent and possibly the whole werewolf world. Slowly, I opened my eyes, wincing in pain as I did so. The bright light of the sun pierced through my brain, sending a ba
Karen's POV"Well spill it you!!" Rowan roared, already getting desperate. The guard stammered. "Getting to the gates I saw another letter the same paper making with the last... "I pulled it from his hands and glanced through it before he finished."Meet me at the Crescent valley of blood or I'll expose you all!! You stole her powers Karen, now your wolf is insane. If you want to get back to your r former state, meet me there by dusk. Perhaps the healing power would return... just perhaps."I read it loud." The powers Karen, think about it!! We'd kill the bloody messenger as soon as we get what we want, and this all would end!!" Rowan exclaimed as soon as I dropped the letter." Then what about the attack? " I asked him. Something just didn't feel right about all this, and I couldn't point it out.Rowan scoffed, a cloud of desperation hovering around his eyes. "What damn attack Karen? With the healing powers back we would rule the werewolf world and beyond!!" he roared, his claws sh
Karen's POVHaving been in Redmoon pack for five days, hunting and eating with them, I was beginning to feel sick of it all.I waited, day after day and night after night for news from the party of packs that attacked Moonstone pack, but nothing was coming forth."Battles take days, sometimes weeks," Rowan would always say. " Give them time Karen. Moonstone pack would be in our palms in just a matter of days, Selena dead!!"I always felt relieved whenever he talked about the death of Selena, but on the morning of the fifth day, I couldn't take it anymore."We need to get to them Rowan!! I can't stand this anymore," I said to him as soon as I got to his chamber.Still with his pipe, he turned his attention to me and puffed."Tell me Karen. What chance does Moonstone pack have to win the war waged against them? " he asked, taking in some more from the pipe.I shot a gaze at him, trying all I could to restrict the joyful smile that tried to form on my face."They have no chance Rowan...
Karen's POV"You have no goddamn right to attack any one here!!"That was the first sound I heard, my head spinning like a canon ball had hit me hard.I slowly opened my eye, me head throbbing with a a dull headache."You heard me right you bitch!! Never must you attack anyone here in Redmoon pack, " the voice repeated, louder than the last. I was still trying to open my eyes but I felt a surge of confusion as I did so.The voice was familiar, and as I struggled to make out who it was, I finally looked up.It was Rowan. What was he up to this time, I wondered within me.His face was twisted in a snarl and as he raised his hand, my eyes dilated."You!!!" he started to roar as his hand descended towards me.As if in cue, my wolf stirred almost immediately and before his hand could get to me, I had already grabbed it in a quick reflex.Fully awake, I roared at him. "Don't you dare!!" I got up from what I figured out to be a bed and stared at him, wondering where all that came from.My
Chapter 206The battlefield was filled with chaos. The entire place was filled with the cry of my men as they fell to the ground, bloodied, bruised and some dead. Growls and the sound of flesh being cut tore through the thick air and the scent of blood and churned earth filled the entire atmosphere. My gaze swept over the field, my claws withdrawn from my hands as I watched the rest of Rowan's deserters close in on us, large swords, axes and arrows by their side, the sharp metal gleaming in the weak light of dawn. That was why they seemed endless. They were just dying, but more were diverging from the war with Zane go come here. A low growl escaped my lips, my face squeezing into a deep frown as I jumped down from my horse. One of the warriors rode towards me, a bow and arrow in their hand. The arrow was shot towards me but I quickly grabbed it midair and threw it back at him. Before he could register what was happening, the sharp metal sunk into his head and he dropped down dead.
Selena's POVBefore the sun had even begun to rise, I had already rounded up the warriors who had pledged to fight with me. The morning air held a stale scent that seemed fresh of combat and blood, a harsh reminder of the war that still laid ahead of us. I stood at the center of the packs training fields, and with me were the warriors—men and women who had previously been divided but now were with me. They had a mixture of determination and skepticism in their eyes. I knew there were those who still doubted, but I could not allow skepticism to take root among us."Mount your horses," I commanded, my voice firm. "We ride out now."They took their places, marching to the stables where our horses already waited saddled and prepared. I had ordered the stable lads to ensure that each horse was in prime order for the forthcoming long ride and they had toiled all through the night to do so. Fresh hay mixed with morning due, the sound of waiting hooves, and the sweat of warriors fastening
Selena’s POVAs we approached, the guards stationed at the gates of Mysticshadow Pack immediately tensed, their hands tightening around the weapons they held by their side. The lit torches hung on the wall flickered in the night, casting ominous shadows on their stern faces. I could see the hesitation in their eyes. They seemed like new guards as I didn't recognize them, but from their scent, I knew they were one of us.I knew they recognized me, but there was some underlying tension in their gazes as they stared at me. I knew something had happened since I had last stepped foot here. But they still knew better than make a move. “Halt!” one of them commanded, stepping forward, his claws half drawn. His sharp gaze scanned me from head to toe. “State your business.”“Are you dumb?” I muttered through clenched teeth as I walked towards the guard. “I came to gather alliances. The Moonstone Pack is under siege, and we must unite to stop the war.”The guard hesitated for a moment when he
Zane's POVIt was a scene from a battlefield, the packhouse transformed into a killing ground. And I, Zane, was powerless to stop it. All I could do was watch in horror as my pack, my friends, and my family were slaughtered before my very eyes. The flaming arrows seemed to come from everywhere, a relentless barrage of fire that seemed to never end. It was as if the very stars themselves were falling from the sky, each one a deadly missile aimed straight at our hearts. And I, Zane, was the only one who could stop it. But how? The question echoed through my mind, a desperate cry for help that seemed to go unanswered.I wished at that point that Selena would just walk in with her warriors. We desperately needed them. I sighted a flaming arrow travelling towards an elderly werewolf who used his back to protect his offsprings. It was travelling towards him with speed."Look out!!" I roared, but he was too old to move, to weak to. Rushing towards him, I stretched my hand and grabbed the ar
Zane's POVI took a step forward, my eyes burning with intensity. "We will not go quietly into the night. We will not roll over and surrender to our enemies. We will fight, with every ounce of strength we possess. We will fight for our pack, for our families, and for our very lives."The crowd erupted into a chorus of cheers and applause, their faces set with determination and their eyes burning with a fierce hunger for battle. I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and purpose wash over me.We would fight, and we would win. We would defend our pack, and our way of life. We would emerge victorious, or we would die trying.I was still filled with such encouragment and purposeful passion that I hadn't felt since I was a young child when a warrior from the borders ran up to one of the elders.I knew that something wasn't right, and as I waited for words to reach me, I looked up to the sky. My mind suddenly drifted to a distant past, very distant."You can tell it all by looking up in the nigh
Zane's POVAs I watched Selena walk away from me, I gasped softly, my heart palpitating. Karen was no longer considered as a sister, and she would dearly pay for all these, but first, I have several battles to win.I walked back to the large hall, and I watched as the healers tried all they could to revive the fallen warriors."We're nothing without the seer," one of the healers said softly as I approached her, her eyes fixed pleadingly on me."What's the situation?" I asked, squatting beside her and paying a dead ear to her earlier complaint."I've found his pulse Alpha," she said in a whisper, placing her hand on the guard's wrist and shutting her eyes slowly. "His wolf is fully alive!!""So?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows as I stared at her. " What stops you then?"She looked down dejectedly, her face long. "We all have tried, but it just doesn't work!! It's a strange art of healing to trigger his wolf to charge a pulse in his heart. "I let out a breath, glancing at the guard and
