Chapter 150: Freedom

Ela’s bail was denied three times, but when the result of the test came back, showing she had an excess amount of lead and solvent in her system, as well as melatonin, she was released to us. Jean had convinced the judge that there was more to this than we knew; he referenced Ela’s state of mind in all of this and a few other reasons that, though Ela was the prime suspect, there might be more. She spent a total of three days in jail before being released, and I was the happiest to have her leave with me.

Marcel and her friends were all waiting to welcome her back, and even though there were people outside the station rioting against the bail, they could do so much.

Jean met up with us and told us he would begin a private investigation into the death of Kim and Ela’s state of mind. I told him I would be available to do whatever he wanted from me. He wanted Ela to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine her mental state and a medical examination to see what else we may not be see
