Ava sat curled up on the couch, her eyes on the front door. She had been waiting for hours, hoping Noah or Liam would come back to help her talk to Ethan. Her nerves were starting to wear thin, but she didn’t want to face Ethan alone, not after what happened in the gym.

Just as she was about to give up and go to bed, the door swung open. Ava’s heart leaped, but it sank as soon as she realized it was only Ethan. He walked in, his suit was a little wrinkled, and his tie hung loose around his neck.

Gathering her courage, Ava called out, “Are Noah and Liam sleeping out?”

Ethan stopped, looked at her with no expression, and said, “They have their own houses.” Then, without waiting for a reply, he kept walking down the hall, leaving Ava standing there, feeling a little dumb.

"Just like that?" she muttered to herself, watching him disappear down the hall.

The next morning, Ava woke up early, determined to talk to Ethan. She wasn’t going to let her nerves stop her this time. After quickly get

Ava stood awkwardly in the kitchen, her heart racing as Ethan stepped closer. His face was calm, giving nothing away, which only made her more nervous. Just when she thought she couldn’t feel more uncomfortable, she suddenly got the hiccups. Of all the times to get them, this had to be the worst. Each tiny hiccup made her feel more and more embarrassed. She could feel her cheeks burning as Ethan watched her with his cool gaze. Without a word, he grabbed a glass of water from the counter and handed it to her.“Here,” he said, his voice calm, but his eyes showed a flicker of amusement.Ava took the glass, sipping it in between hiccups. “I’m really sorry for… for barging into your room like that,” she mumbled between breaths. “I’m not usually so… so rude.”Ethan’s eyes softened just a little as he leaned back against the counter. “Easy, princess,” he said with a smirk. The moment he called her “princess,” Ava’s hiccups came back even worse. Standing there, in his usual cool and calm demeanor, was Ethan.Ava’s eyes widened. She rubbed them, not quite sure if she was still dreaming or if Ethan was actually standing in front of her. But there he was, in his workout clothes, looking as serious as ever."Get dressed and meet me in the gym room. Your exercise starts in 20 minutes," Ethan said without waiting for a response."My muscles hurt... Can we leave it for another day?" If he did, I’ll deal with him.” He threw a couple of playful punches in the air, making Ava laugh.“I’m here, Noah,” Ethan’s calm voice interrupted from the stairs. He was descending slowly, his steps measured. “Why are you always so loud?”Noah's face lit up. "Aw, did you miss me?" He tried to give Ethan a big hug, but Ethan quickly stepped away."Back off, man," Ethan grumbled, dodging Noah's arms. Ava couldn't help but smile at their silly behavior."Oh!" Noah suddenly remembered something. He handed Ava a shopping bag. "I got you a little present, cupcake. I hope you like it!"Ava's face broke into a big smile. "I love it already," she said, peeking inside the bag.Ava's eyes widened with surprise as she took the bag. “Thank you, Noah,” she said, her smile growing as she peeked inside. Ethan hadn’t returned since he left the house this morning. Ava didn’t know why, but it bothered her more than it should. She found herself wondering where he could be. As she sat on the couch, flipping through channels without really watching, Noah appeared at the top of the stairs. "You're still awake, cupcake?" Noah asked, coming down. "It's already 11 p.m. Aren't you feeling sleepy?" "I... I just want to finish this TV show," Ava lied, glancing at the screen. Why was she lying to Noah? She couldn’t tell him she was waiting for Ethan to come back. Not like I have any right to care where he is, she thought to herself. "Oh, okay," Noah replied, heading into the kitchen. He came back with a glass of juice. "Is Ethan back yet?" he asked casually. "No!" Ava said a little too quickly. Then, in a softer tone, she added, "Do you know where he went? He left this morning and hasn't been back all day." She tried to sound indifferent, but there was curiosity in her voice that Noah could

Ethan walked in, his face unreadable as always. He was composed, "there was a hint of turmoil in his eyes, like a storm was raging just beneath the surface."Noah, sensing the tension in the air, gently took Ava’s arm and pulled her out of the kitchen. “Come on, let’s give them some space,” Noah whispered to her, though curiosity was eating her alive. As they sat in the living room, Ava couldn’t help but glance back toward the kitchen. Something felt off between Ethan and Victoria. Goosebumps rose on Ava’s arms when she heard Ethan’s cold, sharp voice.“What are you still doing here?” His words sliced through the air, low and sharp.Victoria, unbothered by the chill in his tone, smiled sweetly and moved closer to him. “I missed you, baby. I thought we could catch up. I even made you breakfast, your favorite,” she said, her voice dripping with an unsettling softness. “I don’t need your breakfast. I have a cook.” Ethan’s voice was ice-cold, sending a shiver down Ava’s spine. She had ne

Ava's POV I haven't seen Ethan since the mess with Victoria. It shouldn’t bother me, right? I mean, we don’t have that kind of relationship, but it does. I don’t know why, but it bothers me a lot.It had been over a week since I'd last seen him. I figured he hadn't been home. But then, out of nowhere, Ethan walked out of his room all dressed up and looking fine.I couldn't help but stare. He still had that something special about him. When he smiled at me, my heart did a little flip. Damn those butterflies! He came down the stairs and gave me this warm smile that made me realize how much I'd missed him."Good morning, princess," he said with that smirk of his. I felt my face turn red hot. Then, to make things worse, I started hiccuping. Talk about embarrassing! He handed me a piece of paper. Between hiccups, I took it and looked inside. It was a meal plan. • The Betrayal's kiss    Chapter 19: Ava's body transformation

Ava's POV I made a decision a month ago—not to let Ethan see me on video calls anymore. Every week's call had been fun, crazy even, but I wanted to keep my transformation a secret until I could surprise him in person. Every time he called, I switched to normal calls or made sure to show him only the gym or surroundings, avoiding any chance for my reflection to slip through. I wanted the big reveal to be perfect, not ruined by the pixelated image of a video call. This has been going on for over six months now. Ethan hadn’t seen me once, and in that time, I had transformed beyond recognition. I was down to 150 pounds, muscles forming in all the right places, and my body… Well, it felt like everything had shifted perfectly. My curves were more defined, and for the first time, I actually loved what I saw in the mirror. I’d never been slim before—always the chubby girl who adored junk food—but now, seeing this version of myself? It felt like I’d stepped into someone else’s life.Noah was

Ethan's POVI couldn’t take my eyes off her. Every movement she made had me captivated. I felt a small smile tug at my lips, unable to hide the effect she had on me. As I looked up, I caught her gaze before she quickly looked away. "I made something for you. I... I was thinking you should come and have some," she murmured, her eyes avoiding mine as she fidgeted with her fingers. "You made something?" I asked, my surprise evident. It was the first time I’d ever heard her mention cooking , and now I was more than eager to taste whatever she had prepared. I quickly arranged the files on my desk and followed her downstairs. The way her shorts hugged her figure didn’t escape me. She had no idea how irresistible she looked. As we entered the kitchen, a warm, sweet aroma filled the air. It smelled incredible. She moved to the oven and pulled out a tray of freshly baked cinnamon rolls. The golden-brown swirls were perfectly glazed, and the smell alone had my mouth watering. She ca

Ethan's POV “What are you doing?” Noah asked, his eyes narrowing as he watched me. His voice cut through the quiet of my office. “Checking my phone, obviously,” I said without looking up, my focus fixed on the screen. “You’ve been staring at that phone for a while now. Are you expecting a call?” he pressed, leaning back in his chair. I didn’t answer. My thoughts were elsewhere. Work hours were long over, and it was already 9 p.m., but Ava hadn’t called or texted. My mind ran through scenarios, each one more irritating than the last. Unable to resist, I dialed her number. When she answered, I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. “Are you still at work?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended. “I was just about to call you,” she replied, her voice soft and calm. “I just finished working.” “Before I could respond, a voice in the background caught my attention. “Should I drive you home?” I froze. I knew that voice all too well—Gabe. “No!” I shouted, my voi

Ava's POV We walked into the office, and I let out a breath of relief, thinking Ethan would finally behave himself. But before he let go of me, his hand gave my butt a light spank. I gasped, spinning to face him. “What was that for?” I tried to sound angry, but the heat creeping up my face betrayed me. “I don’t know,” he said, staring at his hand as though it had a mind of its own. “I guess it likes it there. Besides, your butt is so soft,” he added, taking a step closer, that mischievous grin back on his face made it impossible to stay mad.I wanted to glare at him, but instead, I flushed, feeling my cheeks heat up. "You’re impossible," I muttered, walking over to my desk in an attempt to escape his teasing.Ethan chuckled, shaking his head. “Do you think sitting at your desk will stop me?” His voice held an unmistakable teasing tone. “You know, you look really cute when you’re flustered,” he continued, standing directly in front of me now. “I—” I stammered, “we have a lot

Ava’s POV This morning, I felt much better and was determined to head to work. As I stepped outside, ready to call for the driver, Ethan was already waiting by his car. “I’m driving you to work,” he said, standing by the car with his usual calm look, his tone leaving no room for argument “You... I...,” I stammered, trying to find the right words. “The…the driver will be here soon,” I finally managed to say. “I told him not to come today,” Ethan said, his eyes fixed on me as he gestured toward the passenger door. “You did what?” I asked, staring at him in disbelief. “You heard me, Ava. Now get in, Unless…” He paused, his eyes locked on mine, unless you want me to carry you inside the car myself,” he said, his voice calm but firm, his piercing gaze making it clear he wasn’t joking. I blinked at him, that tone—stern, yet teasing—caught me off guard. When was the last time he offered to drive me to work? What has gotten into him today, I thought to myself. “We’re not going

  • The Betrayal's kiss    Chapter 66: Teasing her

Ethan’s POV After a frustrating day at work, I stopped by the store on my way home. Ava hadn’t been feeling well, and I wanted to do something thoughtful for her. Standing in the aisle, I felt completely out of my depth. There were so many options, and I had no idea what she would prefer. So, I grabbed a mix of everything—different products, brands, and even a few essential oils I’d heard were good for cramps. Once I got home, I dropped the shopping bags on the living room couch and headed to the kitchen for some water. That’s when I saw her. Ava was standing in front of the fridge, her head buried inside as she searched for something. She was wearing a simple black pair of shorts and a casual top, nothing fancy. But somehow, even in something so plain, she looked irresistible. I swallowed hard, feeling my heart pick up its pace. Unable to help myself, I walked over and slid my arms around her waist. She didn’t flinch or act surprised. Instead, she let out a soft sigh and lea

Ethan’s POV . It wasn’t easy convincing Ava to stay home today. She kept insisting she was fine, even though I could see how tired she looked this morning. I knew she needed rest. I had to tell her there were important things I needed to handle at the hotel. That was the only way she finally agreed to stay back and rest. When I arrived at the hotel, I headed straight to her office. As soon as I walked in, the sweet scent of her perfume hit me. It was such a comforting scent—one that reminded me of her warmth and presence. I couldn’t help but inhale deeply, letting that scent relax me. I found myself smiling as I walked to her desk. I sat down, leaned back in her chair, and closed my eyes, taking in the peaceful moment. But just as I was about to let my mind drift, the door flew open. Startled, I opened my eyes, annoyed at whoever dared to ruin my moment. I guess as usual, peace doesn’t last long. “Emily, I—” Gabe’s voice stopped mid-sentence when he saw me.I looked at G

  • The Betrayal's kiss    Chapter 64: period

Ethan’s POV I walked into the kitchen and saw her there. She was pouring a smoothie into a glass. It was 4 a.m., way too early for anyone to be awake, but there she was, still wearing her silky nightwear. I couldn’t resist walking closer to her. “Good morning, princess,” I whispered, leaning down by her ear as I wrapped my arms around her waist. I pressed my body gently against her back. She didn’t flinch or look surprised. Instead, she just kept her head down. Usually, she’d smile or be shy, but today something felt different. To cheer her up, I trailed soft kisses along her neck. She reacted slightly but sighed deeply, her shoulders slumping. Now I was worried. Did I upset her? Ava always melted under my touch, but this time her reaction was small, and she looked exhausted. “What’s wrong?” I asked, turning her around to face me. “Nothing. It’s… it’s just…” She paused and placed her hand on her stomach. “You don’t want me touching you?” I asked cautiously. “No!” s

  • The Betrayal's kiss    Chapter 63: Did you miss me?

Ethan's POV It’s been two days since I stayed at the hospital. I didn’t plan to stay this long, but I got caught up reading files. Ava must be worried by now, probably thinking I’m upset with her. The truth is, I trust her. My mind just won’t let me forget what Gabe did. He kissed her. My Ava. That thought alone makes my blood boil. My Ava. The thought made me laugh softly. She wasn’t mine yet, but she would be. Soon. And when she is, no one will dare touch her again. Those soft lips are mine to claim, and when I get back to the office, Gabe will regret ever trying. “What are you doing?” Mr. Robert’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. “Nothing,” I said, grinning. “You’re obviously thinking about a woman. You always have that look on your face when you are,” he said knowingly. “It’s not about a woman,” I said quickly, trying to defend myself. “Are you seeing someone?” he pressed, clearly not believing me. “No! I mean… not yet,” I stammered, standing up. “Is she marr

Ethan’s POV After leaving Ava, I needed to clear my head, so I ended up at the hospital. It was late, and the halls were quiet except for the occasional echo of footsteps. I made my way to Mr. Robert’s office. He wasn’t there, so I let myself in, collapsing onto his couch. I closed my eyes, trying to push away the thoughts of Ava. My mind felt like a tangled mess, and for a moment, I just lay there, letting the silence calm me. “What’s wrong with you?” His voice made me sit up straight, my eyes snapping open. Mr. Robert stood in the doorway, his white coat draped over his arm, looking at me with that familiar mixture of concern and curiosity. “Nothing,” I said quickly, getting to my feet. “It’s late,” he replied, hanging his coat. “Your father wouldn’t be happy about you being here.” I couldn’t help but laugh. “This is my hospital, not his. Besides, I work here too.” I dropped back onto the couch. He stepped closer, his brow furrowed. Without a word, he reached down an
