Sky's POV

The warmth of the early morning sun kissed my bare back, seeping into my muscles and easing the stiffness that had settled overnight. My body felt heavy, my mind still tangled in sleep, but the comfort was fleeting. I cracked one eye open, blinking against the golden light that flooded my room.

And then I saw it.

The tray. The fucking tray.

I groaned, rolling onto my stomach, my forehead pressing into the pillow as frustration curled in my chest.

I ate it.

All of it.

I had barely eaten at dinner, just stolen bites here and there, but my wolf had been starving. Tired, restless, pissed off. And when I had come back from my run, the smell of food had been too much to ignore.

I hated myself for it.

Hated that Zeke knew.

Hated that he had been right—that I did need it.

"It's not a weakness to accept food from your mate, you know." Evie stirred in my head, stretching lazily.

"He's not my mate." I scowled, but deep down, something inside me twisted.

Because even as I denied it, eve

The cocky smirk tugging at his lips sent irritation crawling up my spine. Of course, he was enjoying this.Kade was a bully. He always had been.He was the type of fighter who liked to push others past their limits just to watch them break. He enjoyed winding men up, digging at their weaknesses until they snapped. He made warriors stronger, sure—but not without casualties.I had hoped, just for a second, that he'd be a little more respectful of Sky.She was Neo's sister, after all.But now? Neo's POVThe moment I stepped onto the training field, everything stopped. The air shifted, thickening with unease. Warriors who had been mid-spar turned rigid, their movements faltering. The stench of panic, anxiety, and, more importantly, fear filled the space, seeping into the dirt like the scent of a fresh kill.Good.They knew better than to relax in my presence. And Zeke?He had the audacity to try and rule me today—to pull me aside, to question my authority. He would learn.I let my gaze drift past him, locking onto Sky. She was panting, her body slick with sweat and dirt, her fists clenched as she glared at me like she wanted to rip my throat out. A calculating smirk curled at my lips."You're looking weak, sister," I taunted, watching as her expression twisted in fury. She barely had time to snarl before Kade struck. A swift, brutal blow to her ribs sent her sprawling onto the dirt."Let's fix that." I laughed, slow and taunting.I let them fight, determined to break her bit

Sky's POVEvery step Zeke took sent a fresh wave of pain tearing through my body, but I didn't tell him to stop.I should have.I should have fought him, should have demanded he put me down and let me suffer through this on my own. But I didn't. Because as much as my body ached, as much as my pride had been shattered into pieces out on that training field, being in his arms soothed something inside me that I didn't want to admit needed soothing. His scent surrounded me—woodsmoke and cedar, fresh rain and something uniquely Zeke. I hated how much comfort it brought me.Pack members watched as we passed through the halls, their gazes trailing over me, over the bruises forming on my skin, the blood drying at the corner of my lips. They said nothing. No one moved to help.No one so much as asked if I was okay. This was what Neo had built—a pack too afraid to intervene, too conditioned to question their Alpha's cruelty."Everyone's looking." I uttered before I swallowed the lump in my thro

Zeke POVI sat beside the bathtub; my fists clenched so tightly that my knuckles had turned white. My jaw ached from grinding my teeth, but the rage boiling inside me was impossible to contain. The only thing keeping me from storming straight to Neo's office and ripping his throat out was her.Sky.Her body—once untouchable, once something I thought could never be broken—was wrecked.Bruises covered her pale skin, dark purple splotches spreading across her arms, ribs, and thighs. The sight of them made my stomach churn. She should never look like this. A few cuts still bled into the bathwater, staining the once-clear surface with streaks of red.I swallowed hard."I should have stopped him." The words left me in a whisper, barely audible, but they carried the weight of my failure."Killing him now would feel good, but it would leave her unprotected." A low, lethal growl rumbled from Payne."Then what? We'd be dead, and she'd be alone." That was the only reason I hadn't torn Neo apart.

Sky POVThe heat of the bath danced across my skin; it should have relaxed me, but it didn't. Instead, I held my breath. Zeke's fingers ghosted over my back, the warm sponge trailing along my skin with an unbearable slowness that sent shivers rippling through my body. His touch was maddening—firm yet careful, reverent but teasing, igniting something dangerous under my skin.I clenched my jaw, willing myself not to make a sound. Not to moan. Not to give him the satisfaction.Because if I did, if I let even the smallest sound slip past my lips, I knew he'd never let me forget it.The bathwater lapped gently around me, the soft sound mingling with my ragged breathing. I swallowed hard, my chest rising and falling in a slow, uneven rhythm as Zeke dragged the sponge over my shoulder, the heat of his palm pressing against my skin as he flicked my hair over one side, exposing my neck.I shuddered. His fingers lingered, his thumb brushing over the sensitive skin just below my ear, his breath

Zeke's POV"You're a fool," Payne growled. "You should have taken her when she begged for it.""This isn't the time." I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to focus anywhere but on the woman stretched out in the bath, steam curling around her damp skin like a fucking invitation."There will never be a time if you keep waiting." Payne snarled, pacing in my mind like a caged beast. "She's ours. She wants us. Take her.""And what then?" I muttered under my breath. "Neo will make her life hell.""Her life is already hell. And you denying her doesn't make it any better." I exhaled sharply, running a hand through my hair as Sky shifted, her movements drawing my attention like a goddamn magnet."Zeke." She purred, lifting her legs over the edge of the bath, her wince subtle but there. My gaze locked onto the dark bruises along her thighs, my breath catching for a second before my wolf's fury overtook me.A growl tore from my chest before I could stop it. Neo had done this. Zeke POVI lay on my back, staring up at the ceiling of Sky's old room, my arms folded behind my head. Faded posters of bands and actors were taped up in a chaotic array, edges peeling and corners curling inward, like they were clinging on for dear life. There were so many of them—eyes everywhere. Watching me. Judging me. I couldn't help but wonder how she ever slept in here with so many faces staring down at her. Payne stirred in the back of my mind, letting out a soft growl of annoyance."She likes being looked at." he muttered, almost as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Why do you think she put them up in the first place? She likes being the center of attention. Always has." A wry smile tugged at my lips. Payne wasn't wrong. Sky thrived on attention—always did.Even as a teenager, she walked with that confident, carefree swagger that drew eyes without her even trying. Maybe it was part of her charm, or maybe it was her way of masking the pain she kept buried deep do

Neo's POVI sat at my desk, my eyes glued to the TV screen on the far wall, watching the flickering light move under Sky's bedroom door. My fingers gripped the stress ball so tight it threatened to burst. My jaw ached from clenching my teeth, and a low, irritated growl rumbled in my chest. That bastard.Zeke had been in there too long. Way too long. I hadn't seen him come out since he carried Sky to her room earlier.I should have had cameras set up in that room today, but they'd returned too early. My tech guy hadn't even had a chance to fit them. I would have seen everything—who initiated it, how far they went, how fucking weak Zeke was when it came to her.He wasn't in there for some noble reason. He wasn't tending to her out of duty.He wanted her.And I couldn't stand it. I tossed the stress ball from hand to hand, mumbling to myself like a madman."Fucking coward. Thinking he can skip his duties. Thinks she's worth it. Thinks she's more important than his Beta responsibilities."

Zeke POVI didn't say a word when I pulled her into the hallway, her mouth still warm under my palm, her eyes fire and betrayal and all the things I hated seeing aimed at me."Stop shouting at me," I told her, my voice more pain than command. "And fucking listen."But she wasn't done. Not even close."It's NOT what it seems... you have to believe me." I sighed, looking at her with the kind of weariness that comes from years of pretending not to care."Then what is it, Z?" she snapped, stepping back, seething. "Because to me, it looks like you have all thrown the women under the bus to save your hides. That you've allowed this pack to go centuries back in time. You've allowed it to become a fucking prison for women while men thrive."Her eyes burned into me, and all I could see was every bit of fury she had every right to feel. Every ounce of pain I hadn't stopped."I need air," I muttered, running a hand through my hair. "Come with me."I didn't give her time to argue. I just started

Sky POVI didn't remember leaving Neo's office. Not really. All I remembered was the sound of blood pounding in my ears, the phantom sting of his twisted words wrapping around my throat like a noose, and the violent ache behind my ribs that refused to fade.I stormed through the halls, shoulders tense, jaw tight, rage lighting up every inch of me like wildfire.I needed to find Zeke. Now.He would know the truth—had to know the truth. And if he did, if he knew what Neo was doing to the women of this pack and said nothing...I didn't know if I could forgive that."Sky!" someone called out.I didn't stop. Another voice, different this time, whistled through the corridor."Hey, hell of a show out there today!"I froze. Slowly, I turned to face them. Three warriors—mid-rank, Delta-tier—stood clustered near the hallway arch, sweat-stained from their own training but wearing smirks that made my skin crawl."It's been a long time since we saw a female fight like that," one laughed, nodding w

  • The Beta's Salvation   FOURTY TWO

Neo POV Something wasn't right. It amazed me, really, how quickly Zeke had started crumbling. All it took was Sky walking back through the gates, flipping her hair, whispering his name like he still mattered. I'd spent years moulding him into the Beta I needed, and she'd undone it with one fucking look. He had forgotten who made him. Who owned him. And now? Now, he looked at her like she was salvation. Idiot. Then there was Sky. The moment Sky used that Alpha-bred command to dismiss my men from the room, I felt it—like a shift in the air. Something primal stirred beneath her voice. It shouldn't have been there. She shouldn't have that power. And yet, they'd obeyed her. Not me. That command had weight. The kind only a born Alpha had the right to wield. How? I hadn't stopped thinking about it. Hadn't stopped wondering if Father had buried more secrets in her than even he realized. I'd ignored her existence for years, content to let her rot on the outside, thinking she was a broken littl

Neo POV Something shifted in the room—and I didn't like it. I felt it the second the words left her mouth. "Out." The command was not loud, but it landed like a pulse of raw energy, rippling across the space with invisible force. It didn't come from her lungs—it came from somewhere deeper. Deeper than it should have. The enforcer flinched. The advisors froze, eyes darting toward me for confirmation. But it wasn't me they moved for. It was her. They obeyed her. I watched in silence as they dropped everything and left without a word, the door clicking shut behind them like the final note of a song I didn't write. My fingers tightened around the armrest. That tone—the weight behind it—I recognized it. I'd used it. Father had, too. But Sky? She wasn't supposed to have it. The Alpha Command didn't run through just any blood. It was rare. Inherited. Born. Not earned. And definitely not hers. I studied her more closely now, my expression calm, but something cold slithered down my spine. How

The sting in my muscles was sharp and constant, but I welcomed it.Pain meant progress.I moved through the drills like a woman possessed—duck, punch, twist, block—my body moving on instinct now. My bruises had faded to soft yellow and green patches, and though my ribs still ached when I pushed too hard, I didn't slow down. Couldn't.Zeke stood across the field, watching. He didn't come near me. Not once. Not like before. He gave orders to the others, sparred with Kade, checked stances, but when it came to me? He kept his distance. He didn't correct my posture. Didn't spar with me. Didn't even brush past.I wasn't upset by it.Or jealous.I got it.This was him playing it smart—keeping up appearances. Playing good Beta to a tyrant Alpha. Neo was always watching, and Zeke knew the cost if he stepped too close, lingered too long. We both knew.So I trained harder.Every move, every breath, every slam of my body into the dirt was a middle finger to Neo's idea of who I was supposed to be.

Sky POV"You sure you wanna go alone?" Zeke asked as I followed Neo's lapdog. His expression was carved from stone, but his eyes—those mismatched eyes I'd always loved more than I should—betrayed him. They were stormy. Uneasy. His jaw ticked with restraint, his hand flexing like he was stopping himself from reaching out."I'll be fine," I said.He didn't reply; he just stared at me, breathing hard through his nose like he hated every second of this. His chest rose and fell in slow, controlled movements—but I could feel the tension rolling off him like heat. Protective. Frustrated. Scared.Scared of Neo.When the hell did that happen?Zeke used to snarl at thunder and bite down on fear. But now? He looked like every other wolf in this place—cautious. Controlled. Tame."Unlike everyone else, he doesn't scare me." I offered him a wink and a smirk. And that was the truth. Neo might've been Alpha, but he bled red like the rest of us. He was a bully with a title, not a god. I hadn't even se
