The summer air hit him in the face with a warm humid slap. He didn’t know if it was the air or the rush of not knowing what to do but it made breathing so much worse. He didn’t know what to do. He was trying to come up with some plan, anything to get her out of here. His whole body was tense, stomach knotted with the thought of Knox finding out. He had never cared about being doomed to not having a mate. He thought that he was the lucky one. No one to fuss or worry over, but now…now he had one and he wasn’t going to let anyone take her from him.

“What’s my Beta up to?” Knox's voice chimed in Ronan’s head and Ronan winced at the sound of it.

“What do you need?” Ronan sent back, he was always short with Knox so it wasn’t out of the normal.

He knew that Knox would put them in the old dungeon versus the small holding cells they had below the pack house. He needed to be quick. He was going to get the message to Jace and then try to meet Mallory over at the hunters. Mallory. Her name bounced around his head. The way she looked at him with no recognition, like she had never known him. The small glimpse of hope he felt when she remembered a memory but then it quickly faded. She was supposed to be his forever. Even if her wolf never surfaced. Even if his wolf never called her name. It was supposed to be them versus the world. She was supposed to be his. Before he could stop himself his fist went flying into a nearby tree. A loud crack was heard as his k

Chapter Thirty ThreeEnd The night faded quickly into day. Mallory was up looking out the window watching the sunrise. She had been waiting for what seemed hours. As if the sunshine could erase the nightmare she caused the night before. She saw her parents briefly before turning in. Her father grumbled about Ronan following her up to the room but right now Ronan was the only thing that felt stable. The only thing she felt sure of. She still had to face the pack, her parents, and sort through Shadow pack. She let out the breath she was holding as the sunlight scattered across the floor. She was thankful she only killed Knox, Angela, and Mick. Images of her mother tied to a stake while she watched fire creep towards her. She felt all of it now. Before it was hate blinded hate. The image of her father begging her to think about what she was doing and fight. The sword, she could feel the weight of it in her hand. The blade pushing through Ronan’s skin, she felt it all. She shut her eyes and tried to fixate on him and see if she could hear his heart. Her heart pounding in her chest was the only sound she could hear as she fought back tears. It couldn’t end like this. She looked out over the courtyard, her heart sinking even more, her pack members struggling to not fight. Every time one of them moved so much as moved an inch, the guards fired the wolfbane poisoned water onto them. The moon starts to peek out against the sunset. She squeezed her eyes shut and begged the moon goddess for help. A large stake went up in the middle of each one. Knox nodded to the guard standing next to Jace. He bent down, picking him up from under his arms. Knox grinned as he watched as the guard dragged Jace up the platform. Another guard came behind Nora and pulled her to her feet. S

The blade burned and left a small droplet of blood. “Dante.” Nora whispered trying to tell him to stop. Dante backed down worried that Knox may just slit Jace’s throat and carry on about their day. “Good move muscle boy.” Knox snickered. “Angela, make sure Luna doesn't speak again.” He growled, Angela moved up to the front and stood behind Nora.
