~Marcie~
I stepped into Kingston Enterprise, my heart beating rapidly, racing with excitement. I know this wasn't my first time, but this is my first day of work.
I know if my dad hears about me working here, he's going to freak out. Freeze my account and force me to come back home, but then I'm confident that that man won't know a shit about me working here, and I'm also doing him a favor.
My supervisor was a lady in a corporate red gown and her hair packed in a neat bun. Her lips a shade of red and her body, adorned with a trinket, earrings, and a necklace, walked majestically in my direction.
She greeted me warmly, “Welcome to Kingston Enterprise, Emily.”
Jade, I figured that her name on the tag, led me to where my table was in the office. My eyes blazed proudly when I saw a brand-new computer on my desk and a stunning view of the city.
My hands felt itchy, ready to start working on this beautiful computer, which looked yummy to the eyes.
“This will be your table for the next few months; you'll be handling level one support calls, troubleshooting, and resolving basic issues. If you have any issues, my table isn't far from yours,” she said, and I nod my head eagerly, taking in every word.
“Alright,” I responded, and she smiled. Jade introduced me to my other colleagues; they all acknowledged me nicely, which was cool for a good start.
Just as I was about to land my butt on the chair and start working on my computer, Jade called me.
“I want you to deliver this to the CEO’s office,” she requested, handing me a document.
My eyes widened, “The CEO?” I asked to be sure.
“Yes, he needs this report for an urgent meeting,” she responded.
I never expected to meet the CEO this soon. Yes, I was curious what kind of guy could get my dad so worked up. I wonder who Darren Morgan was. I've only seen him on screen, but there was little about him on the internet; he made me curious though.
“Okay.”
Jade pointed in the hallway. “His office is on the top floor; you can take the elevator,” she directed. I took a deep breath, clutched the documents closer to my chest, and headed to the elevator.
The CEO’s office wasn't hard to find; I walked quickly and knocked on the closed door twice and then opened it. Before I could even access my environment, I was pinned to the wall.
A huge bulky man with beautiful slick platinum blonde hair pinned me to the wall. His eyes were ethereal; they were a darker shade of brown, but yet it was alluring to me. My heart skipped a beat or two while I was afraid of closing my eyes, thinking I would miss a lot of things if I did.
I could hardly breathe as I took in every single detail of his features; his nose was sharp and pointed like an aristocratic British prince; his lips were designed as masterpieces ready to be kissed; and his jaws were sharp and well-structured. I had the urge to check out his other physique, but there was something about his eyes that sparked something within me.
He gazed at me like I'm the only thing in this world; I gulped down nothing. This man is drop-dead gorgeous—no, that's an understatement.
He is like a league on his own; I could call him the god of beauty.
A species that just came down to show us humans what beauty is. Never in my entire life have I ever seen such a creative piece.
God really calmed down to create him.
He leaned close to me and sniffed my neck; the documents I held fell when he said, “Mate!”
My eyes widened, my lips slightly parted, but no sound came out. Heck, words were far away from my mouth; it was as if I was mute.
His voice.
No goddammit, this guy here is—
He stepped back, giving space between us. His once filled with excitement gaze was replaced with anger and annoyance, and that jolted me back to the present.
“What do you want?” he queried in an authoritative tone, and I sent him a questioning look.
Who was he to talk me down like that?
I came here for the CEO, and this good-looking Godforsaken man here just came out of nowhere to talk rudely at me, and that got me annoyed.
Every single light that sparkled within me was replaced with anger.
I pointed at the documents on the floor, “Pick these up and give them to Mr. Darren. This document is urgent; just arrange it and place it on the table,” I snapped at him, sending him a dirty glare.
Forget about his sultry structure and those broad shoulders calling me in to touch—or the abs hidden underneath the white shirt he wore; he is just one thing—a sole loser who thinks he can bewitch people with his look and intimidating aura.
I hate men that are proud and that makes me feel sick.
“Make sure to learn some manners, Mister; you really need it,” I said and stormed out of the office. Immediately, I got out of the office, raced to the elevator, and clicked on button number three.
I held my chest, which was beating so fast that I felt it would burst out soon. The elevator bell rang—good timing. I rushed to the ladies' room and entered the toilet.
I breathed in and out multiple times before I could get my rhythm back. Once I was done, I came out of the toilet and then went to the basin to wash my hands and sanitize it. I looked at my reflection in the mirror, and damn, it feels as if I just came out of a haunted house.
I arranged my hair and clothes and left the ladies' room. A smile curved on my lips as I maintained my posture, using every single thing to forget about the drop-dead gorgeous man I met in Mr. Darren's office.
~Carsen~I raked my hands down my hair as I watched her retreating figure. My teeth clenched as I remembered how delicate she was when I pinned her to the wall.I was in my office doing some work when I inhaled her scent—that chocolate mint scent laced with a fresh woody smell. It was chaotic, and before I could even pinpoint a thing or two, Rowan took over and pinned her to the wall. His eyes glazed with so much possession that he didn't want to let go.Her eyes were alluring and I knew she was checking me out, but what jerked me out of my reverie was the hidden human scent. When I called her my Mate and the reaction she gave was proof that she had no idea what that meant.Fuck!I jerked back, but Rowan wanted to pull her closer to him.I pushed him to the back of my mind and spoke rudely to her. First thing first, get her out of the office and then look for a way to get her out of this company. She can't work here, not when I know that every time I come her scent would be a distract
Marcie's POV I was about to return to my desk and resume work as Mrs. Jade had sent me on an errand earlier. As I touched my neck region, I noticed that I had bruises, and it hurt me a little bit.I rushed back to the bathroom and took a proper look at the mirror. I was injured a little bit. How could someone act as crazy as the man who pinned me to the wall? I can guess that it was his first time seeing me. Aside from his looks and charming structure, he owes me an apology for harassing me and speaking rudely to me.No matter what happens, I must remain coordinated, as it is my first day at work. I need to get my scarf to cover up the bruise on my neck. I would make him pay for his actions and behavior, but first of all have to secure my job.I started going back to my desk so that I could resume duties as other staff were already settled and working."Hi, Marcie," the voice of Mrs. Jade called from behind.I stopped for a while and then turned back to respond to her."Hope y
Carsen's POV I dismissed Darren's call when I noticed someone coming into my office. I looked and waited for the person to come out.To my greatest surprise, it was my mate whom I had encountered earlier. What could she be doing here after all the rude attitude she displayed earlier? I cannot stop imagining how she spoke to me in a very rude tone. Not only that, she ordered me to pick up the papers on the ground. As she came in, she acted as though she did not come to create issues while she demanded the presence of the CEO.Only if she knew that I was the one she was looking for. I guess when she finds out, she will regret her earlier actions. And from the look of things, she desperately needed the job to survive.I made her know that I was the one she was seeking, but reluctantly, she refused to believe me. I should not waste my precious time proving a point to a mere human. As she tried creating a big deal out of it, Logan, who was my secretary, came in at the rig
Carsen's POV This particular staff acts a bit differently. Her character is weird. Since she found out that I was a person she should not offend, she kept acting normal.I do not know the reason why she forgets that I am her CEO, and I have every single right to decide if she stays or not. There is something very interesting about her nonchalant attitude, and I would be the one to handle her issues. This workplace is going to be a living hell for her. First of all, she is going to pay for what Selene did to me.How could she give me a mere human as a mate? Knowing fully well that those creatures are weak and pathetic. Not only did she punish me with a human, but she also gave me a rude and arrogant one.In the sense that I can do nothing to change it, I cannot even question her; the lady would pay for it.I brought out my system to find out things about her and to know what was giving her the urge to disobey her CEO."Emily Martin! That is a perfect name for a slave," I said to my
Marcie's POV It was already getting late, and I was still outside waiting for the clothes vendor to arrive, even though he had told me he was on his way.I would not blame him for the delays; I would rather blame the person who sent me here to punish me for what he knows he is at fault for.I kept calling the vendor, and he gave me excuses and asked me to be patient. One thing I hated doing was going home late or being seen hanging around at night; besides, the country is not even too safe at night. After waiting for almost two hours, he finally arrived. As he saw the deadly look on my face, he started smiling from afar. All I did at the moment was ask myself who the hell he was smiling with, because I probably knew it was not me.He came up with a lot of excuses and apologies, but that was not my problem. All I needed was the clothes of my wicked boss.Immediately, he handed them over to me; I headed back to the office without saying goodbye to the vendor.I was just thinking of a b
Carsen's POV After she had brought the clothes that I asked her to bring, I noticed that it had taken her so long, and it was already late. As she acted angry, the only thing that came to my mind was how she would go home at that late hour.It was not new to anyone that the country was not safe at night. It was a general thing around the world because at night people who had the motive to commit crimes carried out their mission successfully without any trace. I asked her to come in so that I could figure out a way to send her home safely. As usual, she acted stubborn and refused to come in. The last thing I would do is force someone into my house because they could turn my good deeds into something else. I ignored her asking her to wait for me while I went in to drop off the clothes she had brought from my vendor and also grab my car key. I knew that she would not work out like that because she desperately needed a job for her survival. As I came out with my keys, s
Marcie's POV I stared at him for a while, then I bent down to pack up the files, which he forced me to cross-check. I was already getting really pissed due to his cruel attitude towards me.From the look of things, the files looked like something that had been kept for years. Some looked really old, some looked older, some looked new. My instinct kept telling me that the files were something that was given to him to work on for more than five consecutive years. He has been so lazy that he packed them up through the years. And now, seeing me as an arch enemy, he decides to frustrate me with them.Regardless of his attitude towards me, I would not give up. He felt that he was the CEO, and he had the right to pick on anyone that he chose, but I will be the one to clip his wings. As I packed up the papers, he looked at me, and I could see the joy of frustrating me in his face.He was so mean, pathetic, and an evil soul. I felt like plucking out his bold, cute eyes. The worst p
Carsen's POV It was almost past working hours after I had dismissed Emily Martin. I went ahead and packed up my things so that I could get home early. I felt stressed even though I didn't do much.Talking to Emily can be a bit of a strainShe was so stubborn and would argue about every single thing. But at least I tried stressing the hell out of her, and I knew that she would have me in mind for the rest of the day. While she was with me, I noticed that she had a whole lot of things to say to me, but she just decided to hold them back.At times, it is actually important to free up the mind by spilling out everything hidden there.I succeeded in making her angry throughout the day, and that was just the beginning of the frustration I am going to put her through.I hope she is aware that the worst is still going to come as long as she stays in my organization. I wanted to leave a bit early to take a break from human beings and to take a break from Emily and her suffo
Marcie's POV I was doing my best to explain things to him, but he refused to listen. Instead, he yelled demeaning things to me, prompting me to slap his face. He dared me again to see what I would do, and I lifted my hand to slap him again, but this time he seized my hands in the air. As he did this, he placed my hands behind my back but above my head, causing me to lean against the door. I was still dissatisfied with the first slap I gave him, and I want to give him another so that the next time he learns etiquette.I lifted my free hand to slap him for the second time, and he caught it as well, performing the same thing he had done with the first. I was now pressed to the wall, gazing into his eyes and asking what he wanted to do. "What is going to make you keep quiet for some time?" he asked me as he kissed my lips. I felt excitement run throughout my body, and I wanted more of him and his kisses. He raised his eyes to gaze at me, but I froze, gazing into his so
Stephen's POV In the city as a whole, my company, my business, and my brand were the biggest and one of the most respected brands we have in town.I struggle to maintain the name of my company and have received a lot of awards in the name of my company as well. The only competitor I had was Darren, a CEO of a company who was also big but not as big as mine.He was coming up, but he was not really a threat to me. I always knew that anytime he came up with an idea to step up his game, I would also step up mine immediately. It dawned on him that I was the biggest, and I had no competitor at all. I had struggled for a very long time to keep my company where it is, and I would not let it fall no matter what came around. A board meeting was scheduled for different CEOs across this city and also some outside the city. It was a big game, and it was actually a time for me to prove that my company was the biggest in and out of the city.During the board meeting I was given a lot of re
Carsen's POV After I had called her on the phone and made sure she was inside, I decided to go see the manager of the hotel. I needed that to run some business with him, and he was the perfect partner for that. He had everything I needed and wanted in a partner, so I felt it was best for me to partner with him. That was another reason why I chose his hotel for the meeting, which I told Emily that we would be attending, and to my advantage, there was a meeting scheduled. As I got to his suite, I met him relaxing and reading a magazine. I went ahead to make him know that I was present there, and so he kept doing what he was doing to give me the full attention that I needed. "Hello Mr. Carsen, it is nice seeing you today. How are you doing? I hope you are well. I heard you logged into our hotel, and I'm so happy to have you here," he said to me. "Thank you, Mr. Kelvin. I am also happy to see you, and I want to tell you that your workers are doing a great job, and you have the best
Marcie's POV I was in my room trying to arrange my things and unpack my bag when I heard a knock on my door. I already knew that it was Carsen because it was just the both of us in the apartment. I left what I was doing and went to answer him. As I got there, he began asking me if there was anything I needed. "Emily, I just came to know if you are okay and comfortable with the environment. Do you need anything to eat, or do you want anything at all?" he said to me. It was obvious that he was aware that I was not really happy, and I think he came to make it up to me in his own way. One thing about him was that he never apologized to me even though he was the one at fault. The highest thing he does is to look for a way to cover up his sins. "I am okay, as you can see. I have already eaten before coming here, and I do not think I need anything at the moment," I said to him. "Alright, Emily, I was just asking because I will be going out to attend to something. In case you need an
Treasure's POV I had my men go hunting in search of these pathetic creatures because I needed to prove a point to Mr. Vaughn Alexander Sterling and not only that, also because I was back in full force to make them pay for what they have done to me, to my family, and to all humans at large.I needed their whole traces wiped off if possible, and I needed them far away from human beings. They were all wild animals, and the city is not for wild animals, talk less of the village. Their home remains the jungle, where they can meet with their fellow wild animals and not the city.Another thing that got me thinking was how they could transform into human form and also transform back to their real form. It seemed as if they were making use of African voodoo, but whatever it was, I would find out one way or the other. The only thing I needed was a large number of them in my custody. If possible, all of them as a whole.I had not yet started going out personally, not because I had peop
Carsen's POV As I was driving around, I decided to go see my people because I knew that I would have to spend some time with Emily.I needed to figure out what happened about the dismissal of the old wolf who was missing. As I got to the headquarters, I had them call Bruno for me because he was the only one I was familiar with."Please call him really quickly. I have a lot of things to attend to," I said to them, and waited in front of the headquarters. As I was waiting for him, I watched the little children play around and also watched how everyone lived so peacefully, unlike humans who will always create scenes out of nothing."Good morning, sir," I heard the voice of Bruno greeting me from behind.I turned around, and there I saw him, and we both exchanged pleasantries."Alright, Bruno, I have a lot of things to do right now, but I decided to come here to know exactly the state of everything. Last night, you told me that an old wolf was missing, right?" I said to him,"Yes sir
Marcie's POV I waited for him after I had finished with my morning preparations. I did not hear anything from him after the last time we spoke. I wondered if he had forgotten that we had meetings to attend or if he had changed his mind about me going with him. If it was that he decided to go alone, he should have at least called to inform me rather than keeping me uninformed. All I did was pack up everything I needed and also dress up to go with him. I did not want to call him on the phone because if what he was going to say was so much more important to him, he could have called me. I was already bored, so I decided to check out the things I had packed earlier. I added some new things and removed some as well. I went into my room, and then I heard my phone ringing. I knew it would be no other person than him. I picked up the call, and then he told me to take the day off because he would be coming to pick me up later in the day. Maybe I did not hear him clearly the last ti
Carsen's POV As I was driving, I decided to call Darren to tell him about everything that had happened.I found it really necessary to inform him about our little hunt for our hunters."Hello Carsen, what's up with you?" he said to me as he picked up the call immediately."I am okay, Darren. How are you doing? How is the pack, and how is our beautiful pregnant mate?" I responded to him.I was playing along even though I knew that he probably was expecting me to go straight to the point as usual."Your response seems a bit different, but by the way, everything is okay over here. I got a message that you guys caught some werewolf hunters," he said to me. It was obvious that he could have called to know what was happening, as he had already gotten the information from elsewhere. It was a good thing that I called him because he was fond of calling me at the wrong time."Actually, you got some wrong information about that; we caught one and not some," I responded to him.He was cu
Carsen's POV His hesitation made me talk about a decision that I was sure would make him talk fast. I had no time to hear all he was saying and to receive insults from him.I patiently waited for Bruno to get me these garden shears so that I could make him feel the pain of his life as he and his fellow werewolf hunters had decided to make it hard on us.Yes, we are not the same species, but that does not degrade us in any way, nor does it stop us from living out our lives in happiness.Besides, the city is for no one in particular and if they had decided to mind their business and stop poke nosing into people's personal lives, they would not have discovered anything at all."Tell me what you want to use it for; you cannot tell me that you are demanding a pair of shears and have nothing in mind to do with it," he kept lamenting while I waited for it to arrive."As I told you earlier, when it arrives, then we will bother to get to know what it should be used for. As for now, I thin
