Kierian-

Pacing the foyer of the house we were staying in, I kept checking the clock on the wall when I would turn to glance at the door. Aryan was currently in a magical coma, where her body was frozen in time. I didn’t know that was possible until the witches said it was the only way to keep the silver from entering her bloodstream.

It has been ten hours since we returned to the house, and everyone has been running around trying to help. The witches were grateful that we rescued the kids, but it annoyed me every time they brought over food. I understood they were trying to help, but we wouldn’t be in this situation if it weren’t for them.

Actually, I take that back. We would still be in the situation. If there was anyone to blame, it was me. If I hadn’t been so pigheaded about everything, we would have found a different way to approach this mess. My sister wouldn’t have been used as a trump card, Aryan wouldn’t have been forced to help the witches, and she wouldn’t be floating in th

Kierian-It took another six hours to get more doctors here. All I have to say is that I am glad that private jets exist. The only ones that hadn’t arrived yet were Aryan’s Godparents. They were due to arrive any minute. I haven’t told them what was happening, other than Aryan was injured, and we needed Dexter to help another doctor.I had to lie and tell them I didn’t know anything about what was happening. Now that we were at the hospital, I was waiting outside for them to arrive. We had to use a human hospital, so it hadn’t been easy to get Aryan moved. With the help of the witches, we managed.I hated that I wasn’t beside Aryan right now, but I had to be the one to great Dexter and Maize. When they learn what is going on, I prefer they hear it from me. Checking my watch, I wondered if they were finding the place okay. They said they would be here five minutes ago.“Kierian?” The familiar voice of Dexter had me turning around to face them.“Thank you for coming. I wouldn’t have cal

Kierian-“You do realize that part of the reason I am hurting is because of you, right?” I took a step forward, clenching my fists at my sides.“I didn’t do anything to you.” My father looked at me with disbelief in his eyes, and I wanted to knock him on his ass.“I must admit, I am disappointed in you. My entire life, I have believed that you were the greatest Alpha King ever to take on the role. I decided to take a different path partially because I didn’t think I could do what you do. I wanted to help others all around the world in person. I was ready to give the role to my sister, who I think would do just as good as you. Now, I think anyone is better than you.” I attempted to regain my calmness by taking two steps back.“Hold it right there.” My father glared at me, but I wasn’t fazed.“No. I have kept my mouth shut over the years because I thought there was nothing I could say to you. From the way I saw it, you were the best. Maybe not the best father since I spent most of my li

Kierian-I know we are supposed to wait, but waiting was killing me. It has been four hours since she came out of the operating room. Four hours since the witches left. Four hours since my father left. Four long hours since she was fully healed. After surgery, her accelerated healing kicked in, and the wounds on her disappeared. Dexter explained that even if her body had healed, that didn’t mean her mind had. There was also no telling what other kind of damage she sustained after having silver in her body for so long. Then, there was also the fact that too much time had passed before they started operating on her.“You need to sleep, eat, do something. You can’t sit here all the time. You need to take care of yourself too.” My sister Callie entered the hospital room, where I sat with Aryan.“I am fine.” I only glanced at her momentarily before returning my gaze to Aryan.I was afraid that if I wasn’t watching, I would either miss the chance to see her eyes open or she would slip away

Aryan-This was like a dream come true. Well, technically, I was dreaming, but I didn’t care. This was the best dream I could have ever asked for. My family was with me. I was sitting across the table from my parents, with my little brother sitting beside me. We were having breakfast, but this time, I was happy to be eating.“Stop playing with your food, Trevor.” My mother said to my brother.Looking at him, Trevor pushed a sausage link through his oatmeal. The rest of us were having biscuits and gravy, but my brother was a picky eater. He was making sounds with his mouth, spitting out chunks of oatmeal.I would have been annoyed in the past, but right now I didn’t care. He always liked turning his food into vehicles. Now, it looked as if he were mimicking a boat. Laughing, I took one of my sausage links and started running it around on the gravy on my plate. That also got Trevor to laugh, while he continued pushing his sausage around.“Don’t encourage him.” My mother groaned.Up unti

Aryan-She was the Moon Goddess. Which explained why I couldn’t describe her appearance. Those that might have been in her presence in the past had said the same thing. That they had met her but couldn’t describe how she looked. They said it was like they could see her, but when they tried to explain it, they couldn’t. Like it was magic.“What are you doing here?” I asked.“That should be the question I am asking you. What are you doing here, Aryan? You need to return to your own world.”“I can’t leave them. I need to figure out a way to save them.” I looked back at my family, where continued to act as if nothing was wrong. An idea occurred to me just then. “Wait, can’t you save them? You can use your powers or something.” I returned my attention to her and saw she was now frowning.“What happened to your parents was a tragedy, but I can’t change what happened. I am also forbidden to get involved. I try to, when possible, but I also suffer severe consequences when I do. Like now, I wi

Kierian-I didn’t have time to let myself feel the regret or the guilt over Connor’s death. We might have had a lot of issues, but I thought we would have time to correct it. For all intents and purposes, I still saw him as my friend. It just goes to show that even when you think you have all the time in the world, you really don’t.One minute, Connor was alive and fighting beside me to protect Aryan; the next, he was dead. That wasn’t the only problem. I was barely hanging on. I felt like any minute, I would shift back into my human form. Maybe Callie was right. I should have taken better care of myself.I couldn’t remember when the last time I ate was. If I had eaten and kept up my strength, I wouldn’t feel like I was fighting a losing battle. The worst part was that Aryan and I had only just begun. At this rate, I would die before she woke up. Worse, she would die for real if I couldn’t keep these mutts at bay.“Sylvie!” Liam yelled. When I glanced over, I saw at least ten hounds w

Aryan-I was on an adrenaline high all the way back to the hospital. It was like my body was humming with exhilaration. That was until we reached the hospital, and I saw the fight’s aftermath. Bodies of humans, supernatural, and dogs littered the parking lot. Some were in large piles.“How long was this going on before I woke up?” I asked when we all stopped to look.“Maybe an hour.” Liam answered with a heavy sigh.Across the parking lot, I saw a few trucks with plows on them, just pushing the bodies into a pile. My heart hurt to see the disregard that was being shown. I knew it would take a long time to go through everything, but I hated to see it.Turning my head away, I held back tears that threatened to spill over. I couldn’t let myself fall apart. As bad as it was, we still won the battle. The war was yet to be won, but we had to believe that we could come out of this without any more losses on our side.“Stop!” Kierian yelled, causing me to jump.He took his arm back and rushed

Aryan-I knew it wasn’t okay, but I wasn’t sure what to say. Before I could find the right words, she stepped away. She said she was going to help get people to settle down. I stood there like an idiot for a long time. Feeling like I wasn’t being much help, I joined in helping get everyone settled. It took a while, but we got everyone settled down enough so the witches could alter their minds. I knew that they could perform magic like that, but it was still surprising to see it firsthand. It was not as surprising as it had been to watch Kierian connect with human after human and calm them down. When we finished the clean-up, the witches called in more witches to perform a more extensive scale spell to return the hospital to the way it had been before the attack. If only they could turn back time completely. Now that the hospital was back in order, the doctors worked overtime to heal anyone and everyone they could. We returned to check on Connor when we were done doing what we could.“

Aryan-Filled with raw and intense power, I could suddenly move again. Without hesitation, I kicked open the locker door. It felt like I was being swarmed with a tornado of wind. My hair blew wildly around me as I rushed toward Charlie.Instead of going straight for him, I moved past him slightly. Charlie’s eyes widened as I grabbed his wrist and twisted. I heard his bone snap as Kierian fell from his grasp. Without pausing, I wrapped my arms around Kierian and moved him to the far end of the hall.It wasn’t until I placed Kierian on the ground that I realized I had shifted into my Lycan form without realizing it. Just like the day at the hospital when I saved everyone, I touched my hand to Kierian’s chest to transfer my energy to him. He gasped as his eyes widened, and he jolted upright.Hearing something crackle behind me, I twisted around to see Charlie transforming into a beast I had never seen before. It was like he was part werewolf and something else entirely. His eyes were red

Aryan-“Are you okay?” Kierian was instantly at my side when I reached the basement.I struggled to remain upright, but I could feel my injuries already starting to heal. “I am fine. We need to figure out a different way to take him out. If you hadn’t seen, I couldn’t match his speed. His movements were too fast for me to get a single hit in.”“It might help if you shift into Lycan form.” Kierian suggested.“I tried, but he was relentless in his attacks.” I sagged onto a chair that Slater pushed toward me.“You haven’t been a Lycan for long, so it is understandable if you can’t shift in an instant whenever you want. We worked on things but never practiced shifting when under attack.” Slater stepped beside Kierian as he spoke.“I could shift down here and go up, but there isn’t a large enough passage. Maybe if I come out of hiding but stay distant from him, I could shift before attacking?” I looked between Kierian and Slater.“It could work, but…” Slater began.“You can’t risk exposing

Aryan- I tried not to think about Maize and Dexter for the rest of the weekend. I quickly realized my mistake the next day when we heard they had taken my warning and packed quickly. They left the house, and there were no signs of them anywhere. I know I shouldn’t have warned them. Slater made me realize I was likely in shock and had not thought things through. The Alpha King assured me they wouldn’t get away, but that didn’t make me feel better. I just hoped I didn’t make any mistakes when meeting Charlie today. The weekend had gone by in a blur, but I now had to focus. Standing outside, where Charlie was supposed to meet his son, I was extremely nervous. Kierian didn’t like the idea of me going alone, but I felt it was the only way to get Charlie to fall into our trap. He still didn’t like it, but I agreed to let him be close by just in case. Staying out of sight, I kept glancing at my phone to check the time. A few minutes before the agreed-upon time, I saw Charlie had arrived.

Aryan-Looking at the open folder, tears formed in my eyes as I saw a letter addressed to me from my father. Blinking away the tears, I picked up the first paper with shaky hands. It took a while for my eyes to focus, but I began to read aloud when they did.“My lovely daughter Aryan, I know this might come as a surprise to you, seeing as I failed to keep everyone safe. I know you thought highly of me and believed I could take on the world, but I am not a superhero. Since you are reading this, it means I failed to stop the evil that has been brewing for years. My most trusted Beta, Charlie, has betrayed me. I thought I could give him the benefit of the doubt when I started noticing things, but as it turned out, I was wrong. I didn’t realize how bad he was until it was too late. Your mother was also aware of this, but now that you are reading this, I know she didn’t survive. I hope that you can take care of your brother for us.”I stopped reading for a moment as I let out a strangled s

Aryan-While we waited for the witches to arrive, I worked on getting everyone set up. The girl, who hadn’t been subjected to being in wolf form, was known as Maddie. She was surprisingly very mature for her age. She helped find things for everyone since she was the one who knew her Pack the most.By the time we found a place for everyone, I was surprised to find out that the majority of her Pack were teachers, doctors, business owners, and so forth. Now, all we had to do was turn them back into humans. It was a good start. With people who could help rebuild the Pack, it made my life a little less complicated. The witches were due to arrive the following morning. We still had a few days before we needed to worry about Charlie. With an entire weekend, I wasn’t sure what to do.For the most part, the school was prepared for the final battle. All the teachers and students had finished reviewing everything, and Slater ran us through everything before we left. Slater said he would come by

  • The Bet and the Lycan Prince   Chapter 67

Aryan-The following day, we skipped school to go to the Pack, where the Lycans disappeared. We weren’t sure how long we would need to deal with the situation. We didn’t know if it would be another situation, like when we were in Louisiana. It wasn’t a long drive, as it only took us an hour and a half to arrive. We didn’t know what to expect when we arrived, but this hadn’t been it. It looked like we pulled into a ghost town. The buildings looked like they were barely standing. Most had been burned, while a few looked like they had partially bulldozed.Only a few buildings remained, but even they looked like they had seen better days. Kierian stopped the car in the middle of the road, but no one got out. This time, we were in a large SUV since there were five of us, and we didn’t see the point in taking two vehicles. If not for the fact that we could sense others, we would have thought we had come to the wrong place. I also sensed the presence of another Lycan, but it was faint. Looki

Aryan- Over the next few days, we went through special training with Slater. Everyone, including the teachers, worked together to learn about the underground bunker until we all knew it by heart. We learned where every entrance was, including the hidden ones. I was surprised when one of the locations was inside my locker. Everyone was given a communication device and a suit to wear, which we were required to always wear just in case there was an attack. We didn’t think Charlie would show up yet since we didn’t know where he was. I still had to figure out a way to get him to come here. After school, me, Kierian, Connor, Liam, and Sylvie tried to learn more about the Pack that Connor and I visited. It took us a few days, but we managed to locate the Alpha that oversaw the Pack. He was a few years older than we were, so at least we thought it would be easy to talk with him. His name was Aaron, and he seemed nice. I wasn’t sure why he turned his Pack into a tourist spot, but that wasn’

Aryan-Once the students and teachers were in the auditorium, Kierian started telling the students what was going on. I was amazed at how flawless he was as he spoke. It was like he spent months practicing. With how his presence filled the room, I knew he was going to be an excellent leader.Unlike me, he didn’t stumble with his words. He got straight to the point. Everyone sitting in the auditorium was giving him their full attention. None of them blinked as he spoke or attempted to interrupt him. They looked eager even as they waited for him to finish.Everything I had told the teachers, he basically said the same, except in fewer words and with more confidence. When every student agreed to go through the testing to be able to help, I didn’t know why I was surprised. No one asked questions or doubted him, but that goes to show he was a well-respected future Alpha. From the front row of seats, Mr. Slater motioned for me to go to the exit door, that was left of the stage. We met by th

Aryan-Monday morning, I was a mess. I was fairly sure I had dark bags under my eyes that developed an hour after school started. I was nervous, and my fingernails have looked better, but I chewed them off as I kept circling the conference room, where the meeting would be held.Yesterday, I had everything planned out about what I would say to the teachers, but now it was like my mind was blank. I was rethinking my plan to get them involved. The only teacher I knew was on my side, was Mr. Slater, but that was a given. He was the only teacher that had arrived. While he sat in one of the many chairs around the oval table, I circled around the room. Kierian, Connor, Liam, and Sylvie sat in chairs along the wall, appearing to be completely confident.“You are going to burn a hole in the rug if you keep doing what you are doing.” Slater chuckled.“Easy for you to say, all of you look like this is just another Monday. You aren’t the ones about to ask innocent people to join you on a possible
