AARON’s POV

I stood there, hesitating, my heart heavy with a sense of foreboding as the doctor discussed the paternity test. I wanted to know the truth, but at the same time, I dreaded what it might reveal. Finally, with a heavy sigh, I nodded my agreement. I wanted to know the actual father and secretly hoped the baby belonged to me.

The doctor led us to a separate room where the paternity test would take place. It was a small, sterile space with a plain table at the center. Noah and I took our seats, our gazes locked in an unspoken challenge.

A nurse entered, carrying a small kit containing swabs and other materials for the test. She introduced herself and explained the process. She had collected a swab from the inside of the baby's cheek, then took samples from both Noah and me. The swabs were sealed in individual containers, marked with our names, and then sent off to the lab.
