Summer’s POV I can’t believe she is still holding a grudge after all of this time. I went to say something, but my throat was so dry that I couldn’t speak. I can still only see out of one eye. She takes great pleasure as she stands there watching her friend push the taser against my skin repeatedly. He takes a phone call, during which he shoves the taser deeper into my skin, making me scream louder than anything. He laughs while doing it as well. I don’t know where Carly found this guy. But he is really enjoying himself. He tells Carly he is going for a break and a smoke. Before he leaves, he tells me “Don’t be going anywhere girly, we're going to be having a lot more fun today.” He then licks my face. Laughing at how salty my tears taste. I put my head down as he leaves. I am tired, my body is sore and drained. There was a sound, like the chopping sound made by scissors. Followed by her voice. “Let’s improve your looks with a haircut, shall we?” Carly suggests
Dawson’s POV I was livid after that phone call, and I mean livid. I wish Hayden had been here. He would have found that asshole and killed him for hurting our mate. Her scream made my guts churn. It will be the sound I hear whenever I close my eyes. I can't do anything. Rayne tells me I need to let the technical team do their thing and get me every bit of information they can from that conversation. If we don’t get her back, I will tear this world apart. At this moment, I need to have hope. I am going to go spend some time with my children, hoping they will calm down. They are suffering far more than I am. I am trying my best to bond with them, but it’s difficult, especially under the circumstances. Max is the big, strong brother who questions everything. Jax is the playful, helpful brother who is quite accepting, and Eden is the baby. She's got a lot of emotions, and the boys are always there for her. Any future suitors of Eden’s had better be wary. She has tw
Nathan’s POV I’m surprised the screaming didn’t shatter the windows. It was that ear piercing. The noise reached the ears of everyone present in the hospital canteen. I ran upstairs after Dawson. Following him into the room, we left the kids in. He went directly to Eden. Evie was with Max, holding a pillow under his head, trying not to let him hit it too hard on the floor. Rayne grabbed a blanket and was holding Jaxon close to him for warmth. I could only watch helplessly as my children suffered. I didn’t even know what they were suffering from. Dawson picked Eden up so he could cradle her. I watched the teddy bear she was holding fell into my mom’s lap. At the same moment, they all came to a stop. The screaming, the shivering, the shaking, there was nothing. All three of them stood up and started frantically looking around the room for something. Whatever just happened had to be connected to that teddy bear. Which is crazy. “Evie, what is it about this teddy bear th
Dawson’s POV The heart monitor stopped beeping. Summer's heart had stopped beating. I had no control over the tears streaming down my face. My mate, the mother of my children, was gone. I held Jaxon’s shoulder as I reached across for my brother’s hand. Closing my eyes, wishing I had got to know her. My body trembled with shock and grief. This was the worst moment of my life. The kids became hysterical, everyone else in the room just cried. I went to let go of Nathan’s hand, but I couldn’t let go. I assumed he just didn’t want to let go of me. I looked at Nathan but he had his head down; he was so upset. I tugged my hand again, jerking him a little. But he still didn’t let go. Then he looked at me. His eye was bright, his eye was glowing. “Is mine?” I asked him. “Yeah”. We must have looked crazy as we started smiling, which slowly turned to laughing. I wasn’t letting go of him at this point. I would hold on to him forever if it meant getting her back. Then the monito
Rayne’s POV When I saw Summer’s lifeless body on the floor in that abandoned mill, I just froze with shock. It was only when Nathan said there was a chance of saving her did I snap out of my daze. But that was short-lived as I phased out again and we were at the hospital. It was only when I was carrying my sister’s barely alive body. Placing it carefully on to the hospital trolley, I finally came to my senses. Her blood was all over me, but I didn’t care. Nathan said there was a chance they could save her. He had to try. I pleaded with the goddess to take my life and spare Summer's. She has a family that needs her. I have nothing. She needs to live far more than I do. When the heart monitor stopped. It felt like someone had reached into my chest and pulled out my heart. I was devastated. Not only for myself, but for the kids, her mates, and my parents. I will have to tell them. They never got to appreciate the wonderful woman and mother she became. See what she achie
Summer’s POV It was daylight when I managed to open my eyes. My neck was so stiff, I just about managed to move my head. I saw three sleeping children. It must have been early. They were sleeping on a travel bed next to the hospital bed I was lying on. Elizabeth was staring down at me, crying “welcome back” she whispered. “We have all missed you.” I couldn’t talk, so she gave me a sip of water cup with a beaker lid. She placed the cup down, walked over to the kids, and shook them gently. “Max, Jax, Eden, Someone’s here to see you.” They started stirring but never woke. “Someone is waiting to say hello to you. But you have to be gentle with her.” “Hi babies,” I was surprised they recognized my voice. It was so croaky. But they did. Max was the first to sit up. He crawled over Jax to get to me. Then he planted many kisses on my face. “Mommy, never leave us again. You’re not allowed.” Jax cried as he hugged my chest. “Mommy”. Eden just cried. “Mommy.” she cried again.
Rayne’s POV “It’s good to see you, sis. I mean, you look like crap. But it is good to see you. Awake and alive.” I told Summer as she woke up. I wanted to walk over and hold her. But she puts her hand to her head. I guess she has a headache. Now wouldn’t be a good time to bring anyone in to see her right now. I got her some water, hoping the headache was caused by dehydration. But the amount of intravenous fluids Elizabeth has been pumping into her. I don’t see how Summer could be dehydrated. I sat on the edge of her bed holding a beaker. Offering it to her, she takes it. I was told she couldn’t move earlier. This is a sign that she has improved since this morning. “Are the kid’s okay?” she asks me with a worried look on her face. “They are with Evie and her mate. They are safe.” I thought I would start off with some small news. Something that would reassure Summer. She smiles, “Mate?” “Yes, mate. He came to town with a friend of his. That is how they foun
Summer’s POV True to his word, Rayne leaves. Not long afterwards, my kids came running in, jumping on the bed. Nathan and Dawson are great with them. They are playing with them when Max asks me if they really have two daddies? All eyes are on me. “I guess you do, sweetie.” “How?” he asks “I will let them tell you about that when you’re older.” I looked at both Nathan and Dawson. “What I have had to do all the explaining for all these years. It’s about time you took on some parental responsibilities.” They both looked so happy. Bet they won’t look like that when the day actually comes. Gale tries to slip into the room quietly, but he is unsuccessful. Especially when he slips on a toy and goes crashing to the ground. That’s my brother, a great fighter but a hopeless spy. “Hey sis,” he says as he picks himself off the floor. “Hi sis nothing, where is my hug?” It’s been eight years since I have had one of these. When he lets me go, he is crying. “I thought I l
