Chapter 3: Is blood thicker than water?
Priest
I was eighteen when I decided to join the Navy and twenty when I choose to join the elite Navy Seals. My family was not very happy about it, but I was adamant, and there was Nothing they could do or say to stop me. My father argued that I was the heir to his vast fortune and that I let my family down by not following in his and his father’s footsteps. But being a wealthy mogul was never in my plans. I wanted to save the world. Therefore, it fell onto my younger brother, Casper, to take over the family business’s reins. Unfortunately, to my father’s dismay, Casper fell short on the mark. He was immature and liked living the party life without responsibility. My cousin Tariq, however, was the epitome of a businessman. Tariq thrived in the business world as if he was born in it. Believe it or not, Tariq, Casper, and I was inseparable as boys. It wasn’t until we were adults that things changed—because of me.
As I make my way to my prized Tesla, I’m in disbelief that Sage and Tariq are together. There’s no doubt about it. I can tell by the way he wrapped his arm possessively around her waist that they are more than friends. And it maddens me that he has the woman of my dreams. Tariq is perfect for her— no doubt. He is the better man. But the warrior inside me is angry at the thought of giving her up, even though I have no one to blame but myself. Several months ago, I had the opportunity when I was protecting her, and it was my choice to walk away. I’m not going to pretend that it was easy to resist her because it wasn’t. Every moment that I spent in her company only succeeded in raising my desire for her to a fever pitch. However, I resisted because my concern for her overpowered any feelings that I had for her. I was narrowly able to keep my libido in check to protect her─ even when she made it difficult.
Thinking back, I realize that I should have stayed and given us a chance. I knew how I felt about her, and I resisted. I guess a part of me thought that if I created some distance, all of the desire would fade into a wistful memory. Especially considering that I was with her for only two weeks. But the distance did not work. Since then, every morning, I’ve woken up thinking about her and how her body felt resting against mine. After that psycho, Smiley Alvarado, had recorded her sleeping, Sage came home with me.
~I’m in bed doing some research on my laptop when there is a knock on my bedroom door. Instinctually, I reach for my weapon, making sure it’s within arm’s reach in case I need it. Rising from my bed, I adjust my sweatpants’ waistband and run my fingers through my hair before I answer the door. I have to admit I’m surprised to see Sage standing there, which makes no sense considering that we’re the only people here. My eyes roam over her tall, lithe figure, noticing the outline of her stiff nipples covered by a thin layer of her white tank top and pink short shorts, which provide little cover to her bare thighs. Her bare toes curl against the cold floor as she shuffles her feet. Meeting her gaze, I move closer and give her a concerned frown.
“Sage. What’s wrong?” She bites her luscious lower lip and gazes at me from beneath the fringe of her long lashes. “I... I’m sorry. I...” She stops talking, focusing on a spot on my chest. After a second, she seems to snap out of whatever trance she’s in and mumbles. “You know what...never mind. Sorry for bothering you.”
I reach for her elbow as she makes it turn. “Wait. What’s wrong? Tell me.” She shakes her head as moisture gathers in her eyes. “I just...I can’t stop thinking about the video. He was in my room while I slept. He could have done anything, and I would have been too late to defend myself. How did he get in?” She shudders, wrapping her arms around her chest as if to ward off her own terrifying thoughts.
Without another word, I pull her into my chest and wrap my arms around her. “Shh, it’s okay, Sage,” I whisper reassuringly. “No one is going to hurt you here. I have men looking into how he got into your apartment undetected. Anyone who tries to hurt you will have to get through me. And I’m a tough man to kill.”
Her breathing evens out as she takes a step back and swallows deeply. “I know. I guess I’m just jumpy.” She wipes a stray tear, looking beyond my shoulders with a hint of dread. “I should go.” She whispers.
I know that I should let her walk away at this point. Especially considering that she’s my biggest temptation. But I can’t stand to see her so frightened. Reaching for her hand, I pull her closer and lead her to my bed. “How about you sleep here tonight?” She nods her head, giving me a grateful smile as she slides beneath my silken sheet and rests her head on my plush pillow. The sheet rests over her slim waist, and her hair halos her shoulders, spreading over the pillow like a golden waterfall. “Will you lie next to me?” She whispers hesitantly.
My heart skips a beat at the thought of lying so close. However, I don’t hesitate. Sliding in the bed beside her, I try to leave some room and lean back on my pillow. Sage turns to face me. “Thank you, Priest. I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t been there to help me.”
I shrug my shoulders. “You don’t need to thank me. It’s my job.” Sage glances down at my chest, then raises a hand and caresses her fingers across the tattoo on my left shoulder. “Your tattoos are beautiful.”
I look at the tattoo of a skull surrounded by black flames. My whole right arm is decorated with tattoos from shoulder to wrist. My skin prickles with every caress of her fingers, but I don’t stop her from touching me. The tattoo sleeve has several tribal symbols, and there are a seal trident and a frogman tattoo on my shoulder. Each tattoo represents something in my life. The skull represents my status as an Assassin, and the cross is a play on my name. Her finger moves down the line of my intricate cross, then to the inside of my rib cage, where I have an inscription. Qui velit, ut vivat in aeternum.
“What does it mean?” She asks curiously. My breath hitches at the feel of her warm fingers, making my voice sound husky when I respond. “It says, “Who wants to live forever?” She chuckles as she considers my morbid message.
Before she can ask me another question, I take a deep breath and place my hand over hers. “Do you have any?” Sage smiles shyly as she sits up on the bed to lift her shirt’s hem, showing me the small tattoo decorating her hip. It’s a heart with rose thorns wrapped around it. My breath hitches at the sight of her firm stomach and concave belly button and the way her skin glows like a shining pearl in the moonlight. Biting back a groan, I run a finger across the heart.
“It’s cute. Why did you choose a heart with thorns?” I ask.
A dimple appears on her right cheek, making her look younger than her twenty-three years as she lays back on the pillow with an impish grin and replies. “Because it’s a reminder that I should protect my heart.”
My stomach tightens with an unfamiliar emotion that I refuse to examine. “Who broke your heart?” I ask evenly. At first, I think that she’s not going to answer, but she says something that I don’t expect to my utter shock.
“Did you know that yesterday would have been my second wedding anniversary?”
My eyes widen, and my jaw clenches with anger. Tilting my head with a scowl, I mutter. “What?”
Sage gives me a sad smile and continues. “Yeah, I was supposed to be married to my high school sweetheart two years ago. That is until I caught him cheating on me.” My face loses some of its rigidity in the face of her pain. “What happened?” I ask softly.
Her lips tremble with sadness. “We met my sophomore year. Jason was a junior. We were the typical all-American teenage couple. He was the high school quarterback, and I was the cheerleader. For years, he was my world, and I thought I was his.” She mutters with self-deprecation.
My eyes dim at her words. “I was so in love with him. We planned to get married after my senior year at NYU. I was the faithful girlfriend up until the end of our relationship. That is until I found him in bed with another girl. Up until that moment, I didn’t see our relationship for what it was. I was some poor, clueless, lovesick girl.” She ends evenly.
My fingers still over her smooth hip as I gaze into her solemn eyes. “You’re a strong woman, you know that?” She snorts in derision. “Oh yeah. That’s why I’m hiding here from some Psycho.”
I shake my head in denial. “That’s not a sign of weakness, Sage. It’s a show of intelligence. You understand that you can’t take him out on your own, so you’re doing everything you can to protect yourself. Even if it means hiding.” Sage tilts her head with a soft smile. “How about you? Have you ever had your heart broken?”
I shake my head with a derisive sneer. “No. I’ve never even been in a relationship. It just doesn’t fit into my lifestyle. I prefer my encounters not to be messy.” However, as I look into her eyes, I don’t know if that’s true anymore. Lying here with her in my arms reminds me of what I’m missing. I’ve never felt peace like I do with her at this moment. I like having her in my arms, looking soft and sweet. But I know that as much as I enjoy it, she will eventually tire of my secrecy and erratic schedule. All of the sweetness in her will turn into bitterness. Thankfully, I’m saved from the conversation when the sound of one of the car lifts malfunctioning shakes the garage. My men and I spend most of the night repairing the damage, and the conversation was quickly forgotten.
A buzzing in my pocket distracts me from my musings. It’s Hunter. Lifting the phone to my ear, I clear my throat and reply gruffly. “What do you need?” Hunter chuckles. “Hey, man, how did the mission go?”
I think about how quickly Treadwell died and scowl. “It went too fast. I’m on my way to the garage now. Is there another reason for your call?”
Hunter sighs. “You mean, other than because I need you to talk to Savage and Reaper. They’ve been calling me for days asking me to hack into the Confradia’s’ system and find Willem Kazik. They’re driving me crazy. They know I can’t do that. The Confradia will put a hit on me if they find out. Who knows...they…they might send you to kill me!” He mutters urgently.
I resist the urge to roll my eyes at his panicked words. “Relax, kid. No one is going to kill anyone. I’ll talk to them and ask them to back off.” Hunter relaxes his tone. “Yeah, man, thanks.”
I release the call, place my phone on the console, and concentrate my eyes back on the road. I can understand why all of the men are on edge. Willem Kazik is a very dangerous man. A former Confradia Assassin who turned on the organization and killed many of our men. The asshole took a lot of intel and has made it to the top of our most-wanted list. Before Savage caught him, he was dealing with firearms, skin trade, and child trafficking. He even tried to kill Savage and Reaper’s women. Both men, including a few of us, hate him with a passion. We pretty much regret not killing him since the day we took him in.
That is why Reaper and Savage have been hounding Hunter to find him. Hunter is one of the top Confradia hackers. And even though he’s the same age I was when I went off to war, he’s still quite naive about how the Confradia works. He’s a nice kid and a good agent, but he will never be an assassin. His girlfriend, Maleah, is Sage’s best friend and the reason Sage and I met.
Her name rushes through my mind like a caress. Looking out the steady lights of the streetlamps, I replay our earlier encounter. My body hardens, remembering the way the dress hugged all of the curves of her soft, silky body. I consider going to a club or bar and find a woman to sate my hunger, but I know it won’t be enough. I haven’t been with a woman since before I first laid eyes on Sage at the club, and the thought of doing so makes me ill. I can still hear the melodic sound of her beautiful voice belting out a song through the microphone all those months ago. The woman has me twisted, and I don’t know what I’m going to do about it. Is it fair for me to try now that she’s with my cousin? I don’t know if I can resist staying away from Sage. Not even to spare another family member’s feelings. Savage and Reaper are waiting for me at the garage’s entrance as soon as I drive my Tesla through the doors. Shutting off the ignition, I slide out of my seat, adjust my suit jacket, and slam the car door behind me. “Please tell me you’re here for a social call and not to annoy me about Willem Kazik’s whereabouts.”
Reaper shrugs, and Savage gives me a deadly glare that would probably scare anyone else. “This shit is serious, Priest.” He calls out with a contemptuous frown. “I knew I should have killed that bastard when I had the chance. Fuck!” He growls out, turning towards the garage’s metal wall, kicking it hard.
Reaper places his hand on Savage’s shoulder with a calming gesture. “It’s cool, man. We’ll get him─ relax.” Savage shrugs his hand off, then turns back to me with a fierce glare. “I can’t fucking relax. Do you know why? Because the company has not done what it has to do. Kazik is still alive, which means Sophia is in danger. All of our loved ones are in danger. But you wouldn’t fucking know because you don’t give a shit about anyone!”
Anger roars through my chest, but I don’t let it overtake me. I know that Savage is scared for the woman he loves. I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to Sage. So, I reign it in. “Listen, Savage, I can see that you’re stressed, but you need to watch your tone. Hunter and I are working hard to find where Kazik is being kept. You have to realize that this is the Confradia we are dealing with. How do you think Stryker Owens and the board would react if he knew we were working behind the Confradia’s back? If we push too hard, Kazik will be the least of our worries. Everyone has something to lose here, including me, but we’re still sticking our necks out to find him. So, when Reaper says relax, I’m sure he means rethink your fucking attitude!” I end with a killing glare.
Savage releases a deep breath and stands down with a contrite frown. “Your right, man.” He says, taking a step back and rubbing his hand against his neck in chagrin. “I’m a dick, and it’s unfair to everyone. I just...”
I nod my head in understanding. “I know Savage. I know. I can see that you’re in love for the first time and that all of your emotions are rioting. I don’t blame you for freaking out.”
Reaper snorts. “Yeah, man. When I met Jade, I didn’t know which way was up or down. I still haven’t found an even keel. We’ll get through it.”
Savage nods giving us a grateful look. “Shit, when the fuck did we become old women? No one told me that being in love would be so goddamn complicated.”
My thoughts turned back to Sage and how I felt when I saw her with Tariq. I’m definitely a candidate for messed-up emotions. And I still don’t know what to do.
Sage It’s a damp, gloomy morning, making it even more depressing due to lack of sleep. I guess I have to be grateful that my sleepless nights for the past week star Priest.Ever since I saw him last week, I’ve been on an emotional high. I recall every moment of our conversation─ down to the secretive nature of his real name. A private part of me likes knowing his true name when only a few people know it. Especially people who know him intimately. I guess I should be grateful that in my dreams, I call out his real name in the throes of passion— instead of crying out in fear. Every other night, for the past couple of months, all I’ve done is have nightmares about Smiley Alvarado and the day he kidnapped me from my apartment. I play it over and over in my mind. Every night I remember how he drugged me and chained me on top of a bare mattress with the sole intent of raping and torturing me. Sometimes I wonder wha
PriestOf all the places I needed to get to today, I never expected to be back here. It has been years since I stepped inside this building. And I would have gone another thirteen years not coming through the Santos Trade Corp’s (STC’S) tower doors. Regrettably, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my cousin, Tariq. Damn that noble son of a bitch for not adhering to the status quo. It all started this morning when a courier showed up on my doorstep with an official letter from STC. The sentimental asshole is abdicating the CEO throne because he feels that I am the rightful heir. Of course, he’s ignoring the fact that I walked away from it all years ago. And the fact that I never looked back because I didn’t want anything to do with my father’s legacy.Adjusting my navy-blue suit jacket, I roll my shoulders and step through the lobby’s doors. I have a meeting with one of the top Confradia directors, Stryker Owens, in the af
SageI sip my wine and lean back on my couch as I scroll through a couple of channels. It’s been a long day, and I’m glad that it’s finally over. In between meeting with clients and running around, I’ve only thought about Priest and Smiley. I feel like I’ve been put through the wringer today. The cherry on top was when I walked into Tariq’s office and found him with Priest. For a moment after we stepped into the garage, I felt like we’ve hit a pivotal moment. But of course, I’m an idiot because it was all in my head. One minute he’s tender, then he has no problem pawning me off to his cousin. And I have no one to blame but myself for hoping.I startle from my thoughts when the sound of my doorbell resounds through the room. Rising from my seat, I straighten my loose t-shirt and flannel drawstring pants. Nerves wrack me as I cautiously make my way to the door. Pushing my ponytail back, I walk to the door and gaze thr
PriestStryker Owens is one of the toughest men I’ve ever met. He and I have known each other for years. As a matter of fact, he became my mentor when I joined the Confradia and was my former CO when I was in the Seals. The bastard is as tough as nails. His real name is Decker Owens. We call him Stryker because he’s a genius strategist. He would strike at our enemies with singularly, deadly intent. The man is bigger than life, and I owe him a great deal, including my eyesight. He was the one that recommended me for the experimental eye surgery. Stryker is taller than I am, measuring six feet six inches and heavily muscled. He’s in his early forties with a short haircut and a five o’clock shadow that shows a sprinkling of gray.We both agreed to meet at his home. I wasn’t lying when I told Sage that I was heading down SoHo when I offered to give her a ride. Stryker owns a large brownstone in lower Manhattan. Being divorced for nearly ten ye
Sage I open the door and smile, pulling my visitor inside. “Tariq, what are you doing here?” I cross my arms in front of my stomach and sigh.Tariq gives me a wry smile and gestures toward my apartment. “Hey, Sweet. Can I come in?” I flush in embarrassment, realizing that I’m keeping him standing in the hallway. “Oh, yeah, sorry. Come in.” I say, waving him in. Tariq steps through the door leaving a whiff of his manly cologne in his wake. He looks gorgeous in blue jeans and a blue and white striped, button-down shirt.I watch as he walks into my modest one-bedroom apartment to stand next to my cream-colored loveseat. Somehow the apartment seems smaller with him in it. The apartment has dark hardwood floors, cream-colored walls, and pink and gold curtains covering the large bay windows. It’s modestly furnished, with a rustic dining tabl
PriestMy body is on automatic as I make my way out of Sage’s building and slide into the front seat of my car. I don’t start the ignition, though. I simply lean my head back on the seat, close my eyes, and let agony course through my body. Why now? Why did Stryker have to call me now? Without a thought, I pull back my arm and slam it down hard against the steering wheel. Everything was perfect until Stryker called. Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Why is my life so fucked? Every time I think everything is going well, something happens to drag me back to a hellish existence. I believed that Sage and I had a chance—then this happens. According to Stryker, Willem Kazik has struck a deal with the Confradia in exchange for a new life. Apparently, he has invaluable information about a foreign organization that the Confradia has been trying to bust for years. The majority of the Confradia’s most wanted are on his list, and the Confradia is frothing at
Sage “I’m so excited, girls! I’m getting married!” Sophia throws her package-laden hands up in the air and waves them around excitement. I smile, ducking her swinging bags to avoid getting knocked unconscious, and Maleah makes a whooping sound jumping up and down excitedly. Thankfully, none of them notice my sad visage because they’re just as excited to be here. Ivy chuckles, and Santana gazes around the dress shop with equal parts fascination and horror. We’re all here to pick our bridesmaid’s dresses.Taking the lead to speed things up a bit, I step in the middle of the carpeted floor and gesture around the room. “Okay, ladies, we decided that the color is going to be any color we want unless Sophia wants emerald to match Micah’s beautiful eyes,” I say, fluttering my lashes with a dramatic sigh.Sophia rolls her eyes and pinches my arm. “Shut it, another blon
Chapter 11: Things are not always what they seemPriest I watch as Sage walks off with Hunter. Her face is pale and haunted. And it’s all my fault. But I can’t think about that right now. Not when these two men seemed to have an agenda. It doesn’t take me long to get to my place. Dragon is already there waiting for me with my prisoner. The man is handcuffed to a single chair in an insulated supply room I use to keep hazardous materials. He’s begging Dragon to let him go. Too bad that he doesn’t know that Dragon is the least sympathetic person that he’ll ever meet. Dragon would be more likely to cut his throat than let him go.Stepping completely into the room, I close the door behind me and stand next to Dragon. The man’s face loses all color when he sees me. His face is still bloody, and his clothes are soiled and torn from our scuffle earl
Epilogue- SageIt’s my birthday today, and I’ve never been so happy. I have the man that I love next to me, my friends and my mom. Maleah made this gorgeous cake decorated with edible pearls and spun sugar diamonds that everyone tore through. Sophia gave me season tickets to several Broadway shows, Santana gave me a gorgeous Pandora bracelet, Jade bought me tickets to the Ballet, and Ivy gave me strippersize lessons. I will never forget the look on Aidan’s face when we explained what it was.Connor gave me a calendar with dates marked for us to sing Karaoke together, and Corbin gave me a pair of rose-gold headphones and an album with pictures of Aidan when he was a boy. Tariq’s mother helped him compile it. He looks so much like what I imagine Aidan looked like as a teenager.Standing in the middle of the dance floor, our arms wrapped around each other, I pull Aidan close and whisper, “Thank you for the surprise party. I love it.&rd
Chapter 23: Where I belongAidan/ Priest“These are the last of the boxes.” Connor groans out as he, Tariq, and Corbin rest Sage’s boxes on the living room floor. After nearly two months of being together, I convinced Sage to move in with me. To my surprise, she and Corbin hit it off. The little shit has a crush on her. I have to say it’s odd to see a teenage version of me hit on my woman. Sage thinks it’s adorable. Tariq, Corbin, and I made it a habit of hanging out and having family time together. The kid soaks it up.Unlike Hunter, Casper and Smiley’s body was not handled by the Confradia. After Stryker had called in their deaths, the police picked their bodies up and took them to a morgue. Their deaths were ruled as homicides, no questions asked.Jaxon gave Connor Hunter’s position as my head tech. It was a bit jarring, but Connor was the best option since I know him so well. Unfortunately, Hunter’s deat
SageIt’s a miserable rainy day. Completely appropriate to the sadness we are all experiencing from our loss. We’re all standing beside Hunter’s grave as his casket is lowered into the ground.Maleah clings to her mother’s arm, tears streaming down her face as silent sobs wrack her chest. I close my eyes as the rain pelts down around my umbrella, then open them and gaze around the rest of the crowd. Aidan stands across from me, his mouth tight as he gazes down at the casket with grim concentration.Stryker, Connor, Gideon, Declan, and Micah are standing beside him, wearing equally stoic expressions.Behind them are Dragon, Heathen, and Phantom. They look like a large wall of masculine perfection. The ladies and I decided to give them their space as they mourned one of their own. Ivy is the only one absent since she had some family problems to take care of. But she did contact us and expressed her deepest sympathies.A
PriestI’ve always loved my brother. I remember how small he was when my parents first brought him home. He’d follow Tariq and me around like a puppy when we were boys. It wasn’t until I came home from the Navy that everything began to change. It was then that I realized that I couldn’t trust those closest to me. The military was my escape, and the Confradia was my new family. Unfortunately, I didn’t trust Sage, and now I’m about to lose her because of my stupidity. The SUV rumbles down the road with a silent intent. Everyone in the vehicle is sitting quietly. We lost one of our men today. Even Phantom, who wasn’t much of a fan of Hunter, seems grim. We received a call from the Confradia with updates earlier. They’re doing an extensive search for Hunter’s remains as we make our way to the bridge. A small part of me hopes that they find him alive and passed out in the grass somewhere. However, from the amount of bloo
Sage“So, you’re the one my brother is in love with?” A soft voice growls out from behind my shoulder. I try to turn and face him, but it’s hard to do when there’s a gun pointed at my head. After the man had taken me from the lot, he and his men drove us to an abandoned utility room located inside the Brooklyn Bridge’s columns. The room is dark and dusty, with a metal desk that looks like it’s from the 1950s and a boarded-up window that only lets in a single sliver of light between its cracks. Once we got here, he dragged me up the column’s metal steps and strapped me into an old rusty chair.Twisting as best as I can, I turn back and come face-to-face with a man who looks a lot like my Aidan. However, unlike Aidan, this man has dark eyes, a boyish face, and a sallow complexion. He’s not as perfect as Aidan, with his alluring masculine beauty.“Are you Aidan’s brother?” I mutter hoarsely.
Priest/ Aidan“What the fuck, Priest? How could you do that to her?” Stryker growls out in bewilderment. Pacing across the floor, I sift my fingers through my hair and take a few deep breaths. “She had me investigated Stryker. She fucking knows about Corbin and Tanya!”Stryker holds up his arms in a calming nature. “Just think about this, Priest. Why would she do that, and how would she be able to do it?” I shrug my shoulders. “I don’t know. Look at the file!” I gesture to the papers strewn haphazardly across the floor.Stryker picks up the papers and gives me an intent look. “It makes no sense, man. Even if she knew your name, she wouldn’t have a reason to investigate you. The woman is in love with you.”I shake my head. “I don’t know, but the proof is there.”Stryker thinks things through then looks back at me. “This is not right. First of all, why wou
Sage“I don’t know how you can be so calm while our men go out and kill someone?” I ask Mal.Right now, we’re all in Aidan’s kitchen drinking wine. I’m sitting in one of the island stools, and Stryker and Mal are sitting in the informal dining room discussing birthday cake designs for his two daughters. Hearing the frustration in my voice, they both turn to me and sigh.“Chill, girl, they’ll be fine,” Mal mutters evenly.Stryker nods. “They’ll be okay, Sage. Remember, this is not the first time they do this. Just relax.” Mal rises from her seat and settles a wine glass in front of me. “Have a drink. You’re wound tighter than a clock.” Sighing in frustration, I grab all of my mail and gesture to the top of the stairs. “You’re right. I’m going upstairs to sort through this mail and file them.”Mal places her hand on her hip
Priest Sage’s hand settles against my chest as each button reveals a sliver of olive skin. My chest tingles with every touch of her fingers, and my stomach contracts when she pulls the collar back to slide the shirt off my shoulders. She gasps in pleasure when she reveals my powerful chest and ridged stomach. To my utter delight, she leans close and kisses her way down my jaw, neck, and chest. Savoring her touch, I slip off my shirt and pull her naked chest against mine. I swallow a groan when the soft buds of her nipples rub enticingly across my coiled stomach. Wanting to feel more of her naked body, I slide my hands down to her rounded bottom and lift her higher to rub her soft folds against my hard cock.Pleasure zings through my body as she grinds her hips against mine and arches her back for a deeper contact. Our mouths meet again, nipping and sucking wildly. We both fall back onto the bed. Her legs wrap around my waist w
Sage“Ask him about Corbin...” A muted voice comes from the earpiece of my phone then hangs up. For the past few days, I’ve gotten the same phone call. It’s freaky, and I don’t know what to do with it. I would tell Aidan, but everything has been so perfect lately that I don’t want anything interfering with our bubble of happiness. I don’t want stupid, cryptic messages to ruin our serenity. But I will admit I’m dying to know who Corbin is.It’s late in the afternoon when I head toward Aidan’s office. Other than the mysterious phone calls, I’ve been busy with work. Most of my friends and Aidan’s have been here throughout the day, except for Sophia and Micah, who are on their honeymoon. I even spoke to my mom. I didn’t tell her about Aidan, though. Not because I don’t want to, but because I want to tell her in person and introduce them.I’m halfway up the stairs when Mal stops
