I needed information and a way in. If the Alpha wasn’t staying in his own home, odds were he would be at the pack house. My best shot at getting to him was to find a warrior to take me home. I quickly searched through my toolkit for the truth serum we carried when we needed a subtle way to gain information. I tucked it into my handbag before securing a vial of pheromones that would send any unmated male panting after me into my bra. Satisfied the vials were secure, I slipped into my tightest little black dress and heels. A quick glance at myself in the mirror told me I looked like sex on legs.

I made my way downtown, looking for any bar that had the tale-tell signs of being a shifter bar. Most packs that intermingled with humans had bars marked by sigils that kept them from human detection. That would be the best place to find a pack warrior looking to blow off steam. I was thrilled when it didn’t take long to find the place. I found myself seated at the bar, sipping a cocktail, about five minutes after I left my hotel.

I perched on my stool, ensuring I looked available as I glanced around the bar. It wasn’t bad for a shifter bar. Pool tables were situated on the far side, with a dance floor under strobe lights in the middle of the room. Booths were peppered all around, leaving a wide birth for movement to the different spaces. My eyes landed on a muscular wolf leaned up against one of the pool tables. My years of training told me he was a pack warrior, the lack of a prominent mark said he was unmated.

I hopped down from my barstool and made my way toward the warrior.  As I drew closer, I made sure to put on a ditzy act, stumbling over my feet and into the man, breaking the vials tucked into my bra as I did. I giggled as he wrapped his arms around me to pull me to my feet, batting my eyelashes flirtatiously. His nostrils flared and his pupils dilated, and I knew the scent from the vials had hit him.

“Woah there, sweetheart.” He grinned, making sure I was steady on my feet again.

“I’m such a klutz!” I giggled letting my hand run along his thick bicep. “Thank goddess I stumbled into such a big strong man this time.”

Even in the poor lighting of the bar, I could see his eyes darken as I stroked his ego. With the help of the pheromone vial, I had broken in my staged fall, he already wanted me. I groaned inwardly at how easy it was to play men with the damsel in distress ploy. I pressed myself closer to him, running my hands across his muscular chest and arms. It wouldn’t take long to get him to take me home from the bar.

I spent the next hour flirting shamelessly with him, letting him buy me drink after drink. For once I was thankful that my shifter metabolism meant I wasn’t getting drunk off the alcohol he was feeding me. I made sure to press myself against him at every opportunity, giving the pheromones the chance to push him over the edge. A final flash of black in his eyes combined with a low growl in his chest and I knew I had him.

“Wanna get out of here?” He whispered in my ear; his voice thick with lust.

I smiled coyly up at him and nodded my head. He led me by the hand to his room in the pack house. As I had suspected, the warrior wolves kept rooms there. I needed to find a way to get the truth serum into his system so he would tell me what I needed to know. The presence of the ensuite bathroom gave me an idea so I excused myself to freshen up. I opened the vial and carefully poured the liquid into my mouth after stripping off my dress.

As soon as I left the bathroom, I pounced on him, pressing my lips to his. I needed to force the liquid into his mouth quickly while avoiding swallowing any of it. He lifted my legs, wrapping them around his waist as he led me to the bed. I let a low moan build in my chest. The man responded by opening his mouth and I thrust the liquid past his lips with my tongue before pulling my head back. I ground my hips against him, using my legs for leverage. He swallowed hard before letting loose his own moan at the contact.

Dropping me roughly on the bed, he stripped his clothing away. I grinned up at him, unclasping my bra. There were no rules against having a little fun before getting the information I needed. He practically dove onto the bed, positioning himself above me. The pheromone had pushed him too far to care about foreplay. I squealed as he ripped my panties away and slipped a finger inside of me, testing my readiness. I pressed against his hand, letting my body respond to the pleasure it was giving me.

I whimpered when he pulled his hand away and sat back on his heels, lapping my juices from his finger. I bucked my hips toward him, encouraging him to continue and was rewarded with his thick cock being plunged into my depths. I kicked my legs around him, pressing my heels into his firm ass as he rode me. Pressure built in my core as he slammed into me with increasing urgency. My claws extended, digging into the rippling muscles of his back, as I was hurtled over the edge, my orgasm causing me to see stars. He grunted and collapsed on top of me as he reached his own release.

“Tell me about your Alpha.” I purred as we lay together in the afterglow of sex.

“Alpha Lucas is a busy man.” He responded; surprise evident in his words.

“Is he staying in the packhouse?” I continued as I caressed his chest with my fingertips.

“He was. He’s back in his personal home now that he caught up on his work.” The man grunted.

“How many guards does he keep?” I breathed as I trailed my fingers lower on his body.

            “None.” He growled.

The tone of his voice alerted me that he knew I was after information for a reason. I had pushed too far without being subtle even with the truth serum. I swiftly positioned myself above him, my mind frantically looking for a way out that wouldn’t put the pack on high alert. I needed the Alpha to remain confident in his security, killing the warrior would cause him to put the pack on lockdown. The way his eyes raked across my naked body gave me an idea.

“Are you jealous of my interest in the Alpha?” I purred, rolling my hips as I spoke.

He growled in response, making his suspicion known.

“Oh baby, I just thought it would be real hot to have all my holes filled at once. The thought of one of them being filled by the Alpha turns me on.” I moaned breathlessly. “I was hoping you would be up for a little fun with him and his guards.”

I had barely finished speaking when he flipped me over and slammed his cock into me again. As quickly as it had started, we both had reached our climax. He had fallen asleep within moments of finishing, clearly unused to more than one round at a time. I quietly dressed and gathered my things before I slipped from the packhouse, making my way to my hotel. I had the information I needed. The Alpha would be in his own home the following night and I could finish my assignment.

I snuck into the Alpha’s house late afternoon, the day following my encounter with the pack warrior. I wasn’t certain of the hours he kept, but I suspected like other pack Alpha’s, he would work at the packhouse until at least dinner time. As the sun began to set, I realized I hadn’t been keeping track of the lunar cycles. It was the night of the full moon, that meant the haze would hit anytime after the moon rose. ‘No matter.’ Raina murmured in my mind. ‘Just means we can have a little tryst with the big bad Alpha before we complete our task.’ The sun had fully set by the time the Alpha arrived home. I pressed myself in the corner between his dresser and the wall when I heard the front door, knowing my scent would

LucasI woke up feeling as if my entire world had fallen into place. I had found my mate and we had completed the bond during the previous nights haze. I smiled, rolling over to pull her to my, only to find the bed empty where she had lain the night before. I sniffed the air, hoping her scent would lead me to her in another part of my house. Instead, it led me to the front door. She had slipped out before I had awoken. ‘Why would our mate abandon us?’ My wolf, Hades whined in my mind. ‘She’s not just a wolf, Hades, she’s a woman. She probably had shit to take care of’

SeleneI knew it had been stupid to leave my scent uncovered as I ran back across the border. It couldn’t be helped though. I had abandoned my kit in the motel and ran, my only objective was to get home and find answers. I needed to stop the hit on the Alpha until I could break our bond. I wasn’t crazy about the idea of dying because someone else took him out while we were still tied together. I stopped at the first guild safe house inside the border and snagged the keys to an unmarked car. I wasn’t sure where I needed to start looking for answers, but I hoped my father could help as I sped down the highway towards my childhood home. “Daddy!” I squealed, throwing my arms around him as soon as he opened the door.

LucasI physically recoiled as my mate forced our link closed. Hades whimpered at the rejection. We had felt her wolf’s joy at hearing my voice, but we had also felt the anger coming from her human side. This was going to be trickier than I had anticipated. We knew very little about the assassin’s guild. They were rumored to reject their mates and live solitary lives, but a mate could only be rejected before the marking. It had given me hope that my mate would accept our bond and we could work out the nasty business of me having been a target. It didn’t make sense that the moon goddess would pair me with someone so unwilling to accept our bond.I had to fight the urge to check in with Zane to see how far he had gotten on my order to find me a way across the border undetected. I was going after my mate, whether she wanted me or not. I had fu

SeleneI was a little surprised as I made my way down the long gravel drive, arriving at a small cottage. I knew it made sense for the leader of the guild to maintain a non-descript home, being flashy would make him easier to find, but I wasn’t quite prepared for how small his home actually was. I parked in front of the tiny house and quickly made my way to the door. My senses had been in overdrive since the Alpha had contacted me through the bond at my parent’s home and I was ready to find answers so I could complete my assignment. “Selene.” Called a man from the doorway of the home. “I’ve been expecting you. Your father called. My name is Alistair.”

I adjusted my top to show a little cleavage and made quick work of stretching seductively before the two guards. I intended to play with them until the next shift change in the hopes they would take me from the room with them. I may have been an exhibitionist, but I drew the line at being indecent in front of children. Their presence didn’t stop me from acting flirtatiously with the men, allowing them to catch the scent of my arousal. I smiled coyly as their eyes darkened when my scent hit their noses. I could tell by the low growl emanating from one man’s chest that at least one of them would be taking me with them when they left the room. After what I estimated to be two hours, there was a knock on the door. It was time for the shift change.

  • The Assassin's Mate   Chapter 12

LucasArmed with nothing but the description Zane had extracted from our warrior and the directions Maggie had given me, I made my way across the border. It took time to pick up my mate’s scent of apples and cinnamon because of the need to run along the border to find where she had crossed. The scent was faint, only detectable because of my heightened abilities as an Alpha. It felt like I had been meandering along for hours, moving slowly to avoid losing the scent, when I finally came to a small house. I shifted and dressed quickly in the clothing I had carried with me. The house smelled and sounded empty, but if my mate were truly an assassin, then I wouldn’t be surprised if she were skilled in stealth. Cautiously, I moved toward the house, peeking in the wind

SeleneOnce we had escaped Luna Diane’s castle like home, the rest of my mission had gone off without a hitch. I had delivered the child to the priestesses and gotten answers about breaking my mate bond. Unfortunately, the answers weren’t ones I had wanted. The priestesses had informed me the only way to break a mating bond once it was sealed, was for one of us to die. There was a bright side to the information though. The mate bond could be broken by even a momentary death, which meant that if I found a way to be revived I could solve both of my problems. I wouldn’t be impacted by the Alpha’s death if I were the one to die and be revived. I wanted to spend time w

“Damon, Felix, it’s time for dinner!” I called from the dining room. I smiled to myself as the boys stomped into the kitchen like a herd of elephants. Damon was the spitting image of his father. You could hardly tell the difference between pictures of them at seventeen. Felix resembled his grandfather with his mousy brown hair, but he had my striking green eyes. I couldn’t believe he was turning sixteen soon and would be finally connecting with his wolf. “Your father has to work late.” I told them, sitting the steaming lasagna pan on the table. “I expect you both to have your homework and chores done before he gets home. Am I understood?”&n

I felt slightly guilty for leaving Lucas to deal with the execution of the spy Alpha Lauren had brought to us without me. He had agreed that it was too early for me to leave Damon with a sitter though, encouraging me to meet with Rory for lunch instead. Life had been hectic in the months since our wedding. We had only spent the weekend at the cabin, not wanting take too much time away from the pack after everything that had happened with King Jonas. By the time I went into labor, I had a strong group of elite warriors, and Victoria was more than ready to take charge for my maternity leave. With Fenrick by her side, there wouldn’t be any issues. I was glad to see that she was still making time for Rory with the added responsibility as I caught sight of them seated at the café waiting for me.&n

I smoothed my gown, letting my hands settle over my protruding bump as I admired my reflection in the mirror. My mother had done an amazing job pulling everything together for the ceremonies. We had opted to have the Luna ceremony as part of our wedding, inviting the entire pack. Lucas had even set up a streaming option for the pack members that wanted to witness the event and couldn’t attend in person. “You look radiant.” Rory grinned, pinning my veil in my hair. At my mother’s recommendation, I had found a stunning empire waist gown to accommodate my growing belly. The lace overlay added the extra layer of elegance with the added bonus of hiding my white flats. Heels were out of the question. The more my belly grew, the more off balance I became. The downside w

Selene “Thanks for fitting me in, Ror.” I smiled as I took a seat on the exam table. “I could use a little of whatever it was you gave me when we first got here. All this wedding, luna ceremony, and training is wearing me down.” “So, just some generalized fatigue then?” Rory asked. “I’m honestly just exhausted. A few days to sleep would probably have me ship shape, but there’s too much to do for me to do that.” I chuckled. “Have you and Lucas been indulging in a little bedroom rodeo since the haze?” “I mean, we finished the mating process so yeah.” I replied, not sure what my friend was trying to get at.&nb

Lucas Selene glowered at me from the passenger seat. The other four had opted to take the vehicle she had driven to Cerathe in, leaving me alone with my very pissed off mate. I refused to make eye contact with her as I drove. I wasn’t really sure what I could say to ease her anger. Rory had shocked us all, killing the king while the rest of us had been forced to submit. The soldiers had backed off the moment she commanded them too, none of them certain what they were supposed to do without the king to give them orders. Daniel took charge from there, instructing the soldiers to find the King’s mate. King Jonas hadn’t had a mark, leaving us to hope his mate could survive his death. We had been wrong. While his chosen mates were alive and well, his true mate had succumbed to death moments after the King. The

I could tell by the way she twisted her hands together, something worse than just not catching up to her mate had happened. “Selene,” I whispered, handing her clothing to her. “What’s wrong.” “Lucas, they have him. He was being silvered when I got here.” She wailed. “I was too late. Rory, the King, is going to kill him. There’s no way he won’t. Instead of finding my mate, I found Zane. The guilty look on his face made it clear that he knew something about my mate’s whereabouts. “He’s in Cerathe.” “And you didn’t try to stop him? Are you insane?” I screeched. “You just let your Alpha waltz into the arms of the enemy.” “I swear, I didn’t know until it was too late.” Zane retorted,

Lucas My mind worked over what Tyson has said on the training field as I watched my mate sleeping peacefully beside me. I wanted to believe he was lying, just trying to make me lose focus to gain the upper hand, but I couldn’t shake his words. Fenrick had lost all signs of Maggie in a small town called Millstone. He believed she had purchased a car that couldn’t be tracked before leaving the place. I wanted to believe him, but she was carrying my child and I couldn’t risk her being in the King’s clutches. Kissing Selene’s sleeping face, I slipped free of her arms and the bed. I had to know for sure whether Jonas had Maggie or not. The only way to find out was to confront him myself. I would link Zane once I was across the border and well on my way. I couldn’t risk him trying to

Selene Lucas’s hands roamed my body, his erection pressing into my backside as we moved to enter the house. “Bath first.” I ordered, freeing myself from his grasp. I laughed as he pouted in response to my words. Rolling my eyes, I dragged him by the hand to the bathroom. “You smell like sweat, blood, and Tyson.” I said, scrunching my nose. “I’d prefer not to smell another man while fucking my mate. Now strip.” “Yes ma’am.” He chuckled, removing his pants and shoes as I filled the tub. He had left his tattered shirt behind on the training field, returning home in only his pants and shoes.
