(07) Mey and Mission Impossible

It was harder than I thought. I kept thinking about my plan from the first period until the last one of the day. I made a list of things about why I had no choice but to abort this plan:

1. I didn't have his phone number. Maybe I should've just given my phone number instead of being difficult and made him read tons of books.

2. I didn't know where he liked to hang out or the school he was in. Believe it or not, our conversation at the party had never touched that subject because he always wanted to talk about me, my interest, and my dream. And the last conversation when he was here a few days ago was far too brief.

3. The only thing I could get his phone number and find out more about him was if I talked to Tyler Vincent and I didn't want to risk exposure. If Tyler really was Villain X, he'd pull more dangerous pranks than the last one and that was the last thing I wanted.

By the time the class has finished, I still haven't figured out ways to get to Hunter Jones. I slung my backpack over one shoulder and walked out of the classroom feeling defeated. I let out a long sigh, knowing that my plan was nothing more than just a plan.

"That's a hell of a sigh," said a familiar voice on my right. I glanced up to meet his dark eyes. It was Hunter. He was leaning against the locker beside mine. It seemed like luck was in my favor. "Hey," he greeted with a smile.

"Hi," I returned his smile. "What are you doing here?"

"Well," he scratched the back of his neck, looking so nervous that I almost didn't believe my eyes. Me, making someone nervous? That was unlikely. "I know the three unforgivable curses and I couldn't wait to tell you."

I bit my cheek to refrain from smiling. "Really? Let's hear it."

"Killing Curse, Cruciatus, and Imperius."

I smiled. "You got it!" I watched his smile grew into a full grin. "Did you read the entire book or did you just skimming through pages to search for it?" I secretly hoped he'd be dedicated enough to read the entire book. Honestly, it was hard for me to understand people who skipped some pages of a book.

"I read the book alright," he paused then added, "I even read the first three. I figured I should honor the author by reading it from the start."

I could feel my own smile went wider and my heart beat faster. If I didn't know better I would've thought that I started to like this guy. But it was impossible, right? I knew nothing about him. And my parents would never approve of me hanging out with someone who had tattoos all over his forearm.

As I watched him grinning down like a little kid on Christmas morning, I told myself that I could do this. I could use him to gain information about Villain X and not fall into his charm.

Yet a voice inside my head warned me saying, Are you sure about that? It's hard not to fall in love with a lovestruck bad boy. Some things are simply irresistible, Mey, you should keep that in mind.
