Xander
We kissed, I kissed her, I kissed a woman and it felt amazing. I’m hit with another realization, that was my first kiss, my first real kiss. I walk to my car and I get inside, I’m pretty sure this is going to be all over the tabloids tomorrow but I don’t care, because if I died today, I’d be dying a happy man. I am also very sure that she liked it too, she pushes me away and she moaned.
I turn on the ignition and make my way home. Today was, perfect. I went out with her, we connected, interruptions, no Charles, no hiccups, nothing. I felt like l could trust her, I think that’s why I found it easy to be vulnerable with her. She was supportive, she didn’t give me a lecture, like Charles would have. She listened, she really listened.
Is this what love feels like?
I get home and the house is quiet, and I assume that Charles and Damien are still out on their date. Can this night get any better?
My phone beeps and I
It’s 11:30, meaning that it is almost time for me to go pick up Nikki for our day out in the town. I get up from my desk, pack my things and head out to the bathroom, which’s down the hall from my office, to change. I change into some blue jeans, I black t-shirt, a plaid shirt, and some sneakers, I don’t want to draw too much attention to myself, while I’m out, so I’ve got a cap and some sunglasses too. I go back to my office and call for Damien to bring in my car, a nice, small common Ford X, once he tells me that he has arrived, I make my escape before Charles comes back from his coffee run. I thanked Damien and I got into the car, turned on the radio, and heard my name. ‘President Xander Forsythe is said to be in talks with the government on new law changes that could see women getting the equality they deserve. Governor Smith is said to be working on a draft,’ ‘Well, it’s about time,’ another anchor says, ‘I do have a question though, why the sudden change of heart?’ ‘There cou
Next morning Nikki Waking up, I felt like a ton of bricks had been dropped on my head, but my body felt like it had been given a thousand fairy kisses. I groan, opening my eyes and taking in my environment. I panic, I’m not in my hotel room, I slowly sit up not wanting to give myself whiplash, I look down into the blankets, and I’m naked, that’s when it dawned on me. I slept with Xander, my business partner, my investor. I’m screwed. Quickly gathering my thoughts, I realise that he’s nowhere to be seen. He’s gone. Just great. I look around for my clothes, but I don’t see them anywhere. He took my clothes too. The door opens and the smell of bacon and eggs hits my nostrils, and I feel bad for judging him so quickly. “Good morning,” he greets with a wide smile. I haven’t seen him smile like that, ever. “Morning,” I greet nervously, “I thought you had ditched me.” He is taken aback by my words, and he frowns, he walks to my side of the bed and places the tray down on the bedside
Nikki The moment I land in Johannesburg, my phone starts ringing off the hook, so I switch it off and chuck it in my purse. I still have no idea as to what Charles has done but I will assume that that’s the reason people keep calling me. I get off the plane and I immediately notice that there are security guards and cops everywhere. I casually and calmly walk down the staircase and get to the bottom, and armed men surround me. “What is going on?” A man takes off his glasses, “We have been ordered to escort you to your home, Miss Abrahams.” “By whom?” “Mr Forsythe,” he replies and puts his sunglasses back on. I roll my eyes, he could have at least warned me, but it is sweet nonetheless, I didn’t peg him as an overprotective guy. I am escorted to my vehicle, and I am driven home, with a fleet of motorcycles and police cars, all the way. As soon as we arrive at my street, there are paparazzi everywhere. “Charles, what did you do?” I whisper as I look around my street. The police f
Landing in South Africa was one thing that I just couldn’t wait for, to see Nikki and apologise for this entire mess that Charles created. As soon as we are out off the plane, I can see a lot of people inside the building, they were probably tipped off about my arrival and my suspicions were with Charles. He always has to tweet about everything. We get to our hired transportation and Mike isn’t there, just some other guy, and I don’t like him. We leave the airport in one piece, and we get to our house with no incident, we get our things inside the house and the driver is on his way. “Okay, Xander, you need to give Nikki a call and tell her you are home safe, and I will alert the media and organise a press conference, for later today,” Charles says, looking down at his iPad. “Press conference? Why? Why can’t it be for tomorrow?” Charles looks up at me and I can tell he’s tempted to punch me in the face, “Dear god, Xander, this is a matter of urgency, your engagement, Aiden, the US p
Charles and Damien leave to go down to the cafeteria for breakfast, leaving Nikki and me alone. “Are you okay?” She leans against her desk, “I’m stressed about this whole situation, I mean now he has dragged your name into it.” I stand in front of her, “As he should, I was a part of it, Nikki.” “Yes, but you were man enough to tell me the truth,” she replies as she walks to her desk and sits on her chair. I sigh, she’s really upset. I walk to her and kneel before her, “Nikki, I am sorry about all this, for plotting against you and being an absolute dick to you. I am an asshole and now I’ve put your reputation on the line and probably messed up your business and I’m sorry.” She looks at me with her mouth slightly parted, I could tell she was surprised, I mean I am too, I kneeled before a woman and apologised, that’s something I didn’t think I expect of myself, let alone anyone else. “You probably hate and you’re only helping me because Charles asked you to,” She slides off her
Xander There was the moment of truth, this is where I had to make the decision. I was live on television and I’m pretty sure the whole of America is watching right now. I couldn’t abandon my father’s legacy, but I also couldn’t let down the one person that’s ever shown me, love, even when I didn’t deserve it. “I have a lot riding on this decision, if I resign or rather step down, I risk losing my father’s legacy. If I don’t, I stand to lose way more than that, more than I’d like to admit. I always thought keeping people happy was the only way to avoid conflict, but I had no idea what made them happy. A lot has changed since my father passed and I promised to keep his legacy going, but at this point, I’m starting to realise that his legacy was built on the wrong foundations. To cut my speech short, I, Xander James Forsythe, hereby publicly step down as the President of the United States of America, effective and immediately,” And the room erupts with the sound of applause, I look ove
Xander “Mom please, you need to leave,” Nikki says with pleading eyes. Nikki’s mom looks at her daughter, but her face quickly softens when she sees the pout on her daughters’ face. “Alright, fine. I’ll go but the both of you better come to my house for lunch this Sunday.” Nikki nods, “Of course, we’ll be there.” Nikki pushes her mother towards the door. “I love you,” her mother says. Nikki opens the door and says I love you back, before closing the door and putting her back against it and letting out a sigh of relief. “I like your mother, I think she’s cool,” I say, with a smile. Nikki rolls her eyes and walks towards me, “I need alcohol.” Charles laughs, “I’m right behind you girl, lead the way.” Xander laughs and follows them with Damien not too far behind, they step into the luxurious kitchen and stand around the kitchen island, while Nikki takes out some glasses, Charles pulls out a bottle of vodka from the wine rack and pops the bottle open. He pours wine into the glas
Next Morning “Oh yes, Andy,” she moans loudly. I watch as the pleasure takes over her body, and her eyes roll at the back of her head. “This is absolute heaven,” she says, “You make the best muffins by far.” I blush, “Thank you.” It was nine o’clock in the morning, and Nikki and I had woke each other up pretty early. We had a great session in the shower, and we came to the kitchen for some breakfast, and I made waffles and bran muffins, while she sat on the chair, like the beautiful queen she is. Bliss is the only thing I can describe as, finally feeling free and happy from within. I had totally forgotten how happiness felt and then she walked into my life, and she just changed everything. Her pure energy of love and positivity was something I’d been lacking my whole life. Guess Charles was right. Finding love is something that one person has to do. I look at her and I smile, “I’ve never been this happy in my life and it’s all thanks to you.” She averts her eyes from me, but I
Epilogue – Xander It’s safe to say that it all worked out in the end for me, and for everyone. If there is anything that I have learnt from this is that no matter how life turns out, always be the bigger person. Never let anybody else determine how you see the world and the people in it. My dad messed up a lot of things, for his selfish reason. He sowed seeds of self-doubt, hatred, and selfishness in my life, and now I’m doing the work of re-growing my emotional garden. Everything he had ever taught me was wrong, especially about women. Found my mom, fell in love, and met some incredible women along the way. They taught me more than my father ever has, and that’s saying something. Women overflow with wisdom and grace, too many of them oppressed by the men they marry or encounter. As men, we should be protecting them and uplifting them. They are the carriers of our children and future generation. I have forgiven my father for everything he has done. He was only human. God says we mu
XanderIt’s been two weeks since Aiden has been back in custody, and all I can say is that it was the best decision we had ever made. Jessica was arrested but we had her released on probation. She knew that Aiden was our half-brother and only wanted to protect him. She apologized and all was forgiven.Aiden was going to be sentenced again for his escape and they were looking at adding another two years since he returned with no incident. It was a relief for everyone because his sentence was only going to be fifteen years, according to what our lawyer had told us.I was sitting in the visitor's area of the Sun City Prison, waiting for Aiden. Today was going to be the first time I had spoken to him ever since he was arrested earlier in the year.I hear chains clanking and I look towards the door and see Aiden's handcuffed from his knees to his arms. I stand up and wait for
XanderEverybody had gathered at our house. Everybody, I mean, Damien, Charles, Chantel, and X. We were waiting for X’s team to tell us that they had captured Aiden and he was in the set location. Emotions were running high, but we were all keeping our cool.Nikki and Chantel were currently occupied by their gossip, and the guys and I were gathered in the kitchen with the burner phone set in the middle of the table.“You are seriously considering murder?”X nods, “Yeah. If we let him live, who knows what he’ll do to us? To anyone.”I felt guilty. I wanted to know more about him and why my father kept him a secret. There had to have been a reason.“X is right,”“Guys come on. What about hearing his side of the story? He is your brother; do
Charles“You can’t do that Dae. I will not allow it, you understand me,”Damien sighs, “Fuck Charles, I’m trying to keep the both of you safe. Who knows what that manic is capable of.”“Don’t you dare raise your voice at me,” I yell, “I will not let that man terrorize me or my family? We will remain here, and we will see this through together.”There was no arguing with me, I was going to have the last say and that was it. That sorry excuse of a man will not ruin our lives again.“Call Xander, we are all going to his house, and we are going to talk about this,” I say and walk out of the kitchen.I go to the spare bedroom and find Chantel sitting on the floor, with her phone in her hand.“Honey, you okay?”Chantel looked at me and she looked shaken.“Aiden is Xander’s brother?”“What? No, who told you that lie?”She gets up from the floor and sits on the bed.“Nikki just called me and told me that they found Aiden, and Aiden is Xander’s older half-brother,”“Damien!”Chantel sighs, “Th
XanderI hate it when someone says that. It usually means something very messed up is about to happen and there is nothing we can do to stop it.“Just say it,”“Aiden is your biological brother,” X says.Damien and I look at each other. We both couldn’t believe it and it couldn’t be true. Could it?“How? I am the only son of both of my parents,”X looks at his screen, “Well, it looks like your father was a hoe.”I push X to the side and read what is written on the screen. His records were somehow sealed from the world, probably my dad’s doing. He was born the same year that I was just a few months before my birth, fuck that makes him my older brother.“His mother is unknown,”X looks at the screen, “I’ll have someone look into that.”“You’re taking this well,” Damien says nervously.I look at him and I shrug, “I’ve genuinely run out of fucks to give when it comes to Aiden and anything involving him but what’s bothering me is that my father. My father. I hope he’s in hell,”“Do you thi
“Do you still have men in the house?”X looks at his PC and nods, “Yeah, everything is good. They are still in the living room.”I was out with X and Damien, trying to figure out if the rumour of Aiden’s escape was true. We were waiting for Damien to return from prison with some information. We were at X’s house, in his basement. His family was out for the day, so we could work without his family disrupting us too much.“Do you think he could be out there?”I sigh, “Yeah, I do. He’s a sneaky bastard, that man.”X shakes his head, “We’ll find him, and deal with him accordingly. The rest of the squad doesn’t have to know.”“You’ve done stuff like this before?”“You mean assassinate, murder, make people disappear? It’s part of the job description, man. I’m hired by all sorts of people,” X replies but it’s a side of my business most people don’t know about.I nod, “Of course.”“People like Aiden have gotten away with so much in their lives that they have run out of their extra lives but s
NikkiI groaned as I sat on my bed, the baby was growing at an exponential rate and my back was hurting like hell. I look over and see Xander fast asleep. I smile as I brush his curls out of his face. Finally married. I couldn’t believe it. God finally granted me one of my heart's desires and another one is on the way.I get out of bed and put my slippers on and make my way downstairs to the kitchen. I proceed to make breakfast and Xander comes down the stairs. He sees me and smiles at me.“Good morning my gorgeous wife, and baby,”He kisses my cheek and bends over to kiss my stomach.“Good morning baby,”He takes the spatula from my hand and tells me to sit down. I don’t argue and I sit down on one of the bar stools.“Why didn’t you wake me up babe? You’re in your second trimester and I don’t want you to strain yourself.”I sigh, “I’m pregnant, not disabled Xander. We’ve had this discussion.”He frowns, “I’m sorry babe, I don’t mean to be overbearing. I just want you and the baby to
Xander Lobola Day“Shit,” I mumble to myself.I was standing outside the gate to Nikki’s family home, and I was nervous. Shaking even. I didn’t know what to expect. Xlanti had told me everything that I needed to know but still, I was nervous. I wanted to make a first impression, a good one.“Don’t worry Xander, we are here for you. just let me do the talking and everything will be fine,” X says.I nod. Damien places his hand on my shoulder, and I let out a shaky breath.A few moments pass and two men and a woman step out of the house and stand by the gate. Xlanti puts an R200 through the gate.“Siyanibulisa badala bam,” Xlanti says.“Molo nyana wam,” one of the men greet.“Silapha ukuze sithethe nabadala malunga nelobola kaNikiwe,” Xlanti says. The three elders look at each other.“You can speak in English, for the sake of understanding each other.”“Thank you,” X says and places another R200 through the gate. One of the uncles comes to the gate and opens it, we walk through the gate
Nikki I didn’t want him dead. Even though he deserved it but still. None deserves to die. I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that he was dead, I didn’t want to believe it. It’s been a few days since Aiden died and were sitting in the backyard, on the lawn. Xander had his eyes closed, I think he was asleep, and I had my head on his lap. I was looking up at the cloudy sky. Praying to god that he had at least in his final moments asked for forgiveness and that he was in heaven. Our lobola was in three days and I was excited, but I was also anxious. My dad’s side of the family was a tough bunch. Being half Xhosa and Zulu was not a good mix. My dad’s side of the family was Xhosa. I loved them to bits, unlike my maternal side, who decided to cut ties with my mother after she decided to marry my dad. Tribalistic idiots. “You okay down there?” I nod, “Yeah I’m okay. I’m just really nervous about Saturday,” Xander sits up and he looks down at me with his mesmerizing blue eyes. I was
