HAYLEY’S POV

I spent the night at Christian’s mansion, although I had texted Kitty and Darren that was back in New York and we sure had a lot to talk about. I slept more peacefully and comfortably, I could get used to waking up completely engulfed in Christian’s scent and entangled in his sheets.

My eyes fluttered open, and I raised her hands to block the sunlight as she turned on the bed. I finally opened my eyes and they met a pair of charmingly blue ones.

“Morning, little lamb.” Christian kissed my forehead and I chuckled softly,

“Morning, sleep well?” I sat up straight to stretch a bit,

“You were beside me all night, so why not?” He pulled me closer, my bare chest exposed to his face as a result of what went down last night, the reason why I was in his bed naked.

That was the second time I would be sleeping in his bed, and the second time we would have hot sex on it.

“You can be cheesy when you want to be, I’m sure you know.” I blushed shyly, I found myself leaning closer to his

CHRISTIAN’S POV I guess a man can’t get a little vacation, because I was literally only out of New York for a few days and I’m back to doing some damage control bullshit. As I sat at my desk, furiously jotting down notes, Monica was across from me, typing away on her laptop and making phone calls. We had just one week away from launching my new automobile, and I get back to hear that the designs had been leaked to a rival company. Not only did they steal the designs, but they also made a general post about it coming out soon. If I launch my automobile immediately after theirs, I will be canceled by the public. It would look like I stole it and those bastards could even sue me after stealing my designs. “Monica, make sure the legal team is ready to move on this immediately. I’m not letting those thieves get away with this.” I instructed, my voice was laced with frustration and determination. Her phone rang and she picked up the call, I wasn’t expecting things to start going smooth

HAYLEY’S POVAs I approached Liam’s dad’s house, my stomach tied in knots. I kept playing nervously with my fingers, I had texted Liam last night. I said I wanted to check up on him, even though that was not the reason I texted.I knew he wanted me to be a part of his dad’s wedding preparations, so he wouldn’t feel alone. It was hard enough for him to have to face the father that never supported his dreams, but it would even be harder to watch him walk down the aisle with another woman, that wasn’t his mom.It was like they knew I was coming, the automatic gates to the huge mansion just slid open as I approached. I wasn’t new to this rich people stuff, so I walked in. I pressed the door bell and clutched my purse by my side nervously.“Hayley, “ Liam called, as he was the one who answered the door,“Um-Liam, it’s so good to see you again.” What the hell did I mean by that? I literally still saw him few days ago, at least not on the day we left Venice.“I’m glad you could make it, Co

I didn’t picture myself picking up a wedding dress for Liam’s stepmom when I offered to help with wedding preparations. Even though he seemed fine with Trish and me hanging out together, I still couldn’t handle the thought of him alone with his dad.The entire drive was awkward; we didn’t say much. In fact, we hardly said anything to each other; I only watched as she nodded satisfyingly to Whitney Houston’s music playing from the radio in her car.I didn’t quite know her, but I did agree with her taste in music; the cool breeze just seemed to rush in my face as all the windows were down. But I didn’t mind; at least the view was interesting. It felt like, for the first time, I didn’t have much to worry about, or I didn’t even need to worry at all.“We’re here, Hayley,” Trish said that minute later. As she pulled her car over in front of a small shop, I could see some mannequins on display with wedding dresses. We were definitely in the right place. We got out of the car and approached

CHRISTIAN’S POVThe possibility of my company falling into crisis as a result of the new automobile leak was being taken care of. I made sure I made a few calls and filed the necessary lawsuits because only one person gets to win this fight, and of course, it would be me.To deal with more matters at hand, I visited Bernard. Maybe he would have an explanation or two as to why his wife is losing her mind.I stormed into his opulent mansion, which had long been the backdrop of my life. My heart was pounding with a mix of confusion and anger. I headed straight for the only place he had spent most of his time since his retirement, the study.I stood by the door, and there he was, seated and engrossed in some paperwork. He looked up as I entered, and a hint of surprise flickered across his face. He looked like his health had even improved, which was a happy thing for me.“Christian? I understand if your brother is the prodigal son; I didn’t expect you to cast me away either. It’s been a w

HAYLEY’S POVThere was this suspicious feeling that I couldn’t shake off about Trish, even as I sat down by the elegant dining table. All I could do was stare at her and watch her every movement. The way she helped the maids by arranging an array of exquisite dishes on the table, the huge smile on her face when her gaze met Chris, or when she was asking Liam if he was okay. She seemed okay, like a normal woman who was happy that tomorrow was her wedding. I saw all these at first, but after the scenario today at the bridal shop, I couldn’t help but start to change my perspective about her. People aren’t really who they seem to be anyway.“Thank you for being here,” Liam leaned in to whisper to me as I was seated beside him.“It’s nothing; I’m just glad that I could help in the little way I can.”He smiled softly and said, “Hayley, I’m so sorry. Ever since Venice, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much it would mean for you if you had gotten that admission. I took that joy away from yo

CHRISTIAN’S POVThe walls seemed to be closing in on me as I sat down on the couch. The weight of betrayal just pressed down on me like an anchor. I was fooled; for half of my life, I had been carrying lies with me as the truth. The father that I first longed to see but later hated because he never showed up turned out to be right under my nose. And I had loved him like a son should; I had been caring for him and working so hard for the company with pride.I took another swig from the vodka bottle in my hand; the bitter taste matched the bitterness and anger in my heart. My grip on the bottle tightened; how could everything fall apart so suddenly?I was humiliated by Alexander, and I stood there like an idiot. For once, I didn’t have the words to say back to him because the leverage he had was beyond me.“Christian, Christian?” A female voice yelled as I heard the door swing open. I didn’t budge; I couldn’t even move if I wanted to.“Christian, what is happening? What is wrong?” She

HAYLEY’S POVI stood in front of the long mirror in Christian’s room, checking myself out. Today was Chris’s wedding, and a part of me felt like I shouldn’t attend because of the way he humiliated me.But then I gave it a rethink; if I just backed away, then it would only make whatever assumptions he had about me true. So I wasn’t going to; I would attend the wedding.I turned to Christian, who was standing behind me; his tie was hanging around his neck. His mood wasn’t exactly bright, and I could tell it was because of the news he heard yesterday.“I don’t think I can do this." He said that my hands paused their movement around his neck.“Do what?” I continued knotting his tie.“I don’t want to go to the wedding, Hayley.”I exhaled deeply. I finished knotting his tie and dusted his suit before gazing up at him.“Why, Christian? It’s your cousin’s wedding. Liam doesn’t even want to attend his dad’s wedding either, but he’s just doing it out of respect. I think you should go.”“I can’t

ALEXANDER’S POV My eyes fluttered open again. The morning sunlight filtered into the room, casting a warm glow on the tangled sheets. Cassidy lay beside me, fully naked and fast asleep, with her hands on my chest. I rubbed my face. I had woken up earlier and even showered, but Cassidy couldn’t get enough of me. It had already become a routine to have early morning sex with her. I got out of bed, and I heard her roll and groan from her sleep. “Where are you off to?” she asked in a raspy voice. Her eyes traced my movements. “I’m paying Khalid a good visit,” I replied, pulling on my clothes. “That’s Christian’s best friend.” “I know…” I adjusted my collar, “Alex, what do you want to talk about with him? If you want to threaten him, then it won’t work. We have no use for him; he’s useless.” I remained silent as I continued to dress, Cassidy’s gaze intensified. I could see her glaring at me through the mirror I was standing in front of. But I avoided her gaze; each of us had our re

ONE WEEK LATERCHRISTIAN’S POV “Yes, Officer Gavin. I appreciate your efforts. Thank you.” I said, and the call dropped. I turned from the window and faced Hayley, who was lying down on the bed. We were both fully discharged from the hospital, and Khalid was still there. And I always made sure I checked on him every day. Hayley, on the other hand, still had to go to the hospital for her antenatal. Officer Gavin was telling me about Denver, and they caught him. He didn’t even hesitate to cooperate with the police; he sold Alexander out. The police were now looking for him, he and Alexander made the deal about putting the bomb under my car. And other news aside, the person who was trying to poison Bernard was a maid in the house. Her motives weren’t clear yet, but she was with the police now. I also heard that Cassidy fell to her death—not that I was being insensitive, but she deserved it. That would be the last time I would ever see Cassidy in my life, and I was thrilled, to be hon

CHRISTIAN’S POV My eyes fluttered open, and immediately I became conscious. Pain surged through my head. I raised my hand slowly to touch my head, and I realised there was a bandage on it. My body ached all through; it was like all the pain I hadn’t felt for the few moments I was asleep was all coming to me at once. The accident replayed vividly: Khalid, the screeching of metals, the flames licking at the car, and Khalid’s shriek of pain as the car engulfed in flames with his legs still trapped while his body was out of the car. Panic seized me as I scanned the unfamiliar surroundings I was in. I figured I was at the hospital; the curtains and the beeping sound of the heart monitor gave that away instantly. “Where’s Khalid, Khalid?" The words fell from my lips in a desperate plea, and my voice was hoarse from the terror that had gripped me in my sleep. The fear that my friend could be dead was the only true friend I ever had. And it would be my fault; I wouldn’t be able to forgive

HAYLEY’S POVIt’s been three days since Cassidy and Rebecca held me captive. I haven’t had food or water and am hungry and tired. My vision is starting to blur as I am slowly losing strength.I slowly closed my eyes. Maybe if I could get a little rest, it would take my mind off the hunger. But then Cassidy splashed me with another round of cold water. I opened my eyes and raised my head, gasping for breath.I shook my head to get the water out of my eye, and the sound of a stainless steel bucket falling on the floor drew my attention to Cassidy, who was standing right in front of me.“I told Christian, he has to meet me here by 1 p.m. Well, would you look at the time? And still no Christian.” She exhaled, almost disappointed.Christian was coming here? I almost felt a sense of relief, but then coming here was a trap. Cassidy was just going to kill us anyway.“Can you see that we can’t trust men and that they are all the same, but don’t worry, I’ll get revenge for us?” she teased, my

72 HOURS CHRISTIAN’S POV The sunlight penetrated the room as I stood by the crack in the window and sipped wine from a small glass. My phone was in my ear when Officer Gavin called. Different things were going through my mind; everything was my fault. From the start, I had always been the problem. Not once have any of Hayley’s mistakes occurred if she even had any. None of them had come back to either haunt me or get me kidnapped. But here I was, putting her in danger yet again because of my bad choices. I just kept proving her mother’s point that I was no good for her. And now that she was carrying my baby, what good could I possibly be to the innocent creature? “Officer Gavin, it’s been three days, and you still haven’t found her,” I complained as I turned away from the window. “What if something else happens to her? I don’t trust those two girls who have her. i…I already told you that I didn’t know where they were. Fuck! If I did, I would drive straight down and get my woman

HAYLEY’S POVI became conscious of the splash of cold water all over my face and tried to jerk up. But my eyes darted down to the rope tied around my legs to the chair, and my hands were tied to the chair behind my back.I struggled to see if I could loosen the rope on my hands, but all my efforts were useless. I exhaled heavily and raised my head to hear someone’s heels hurting the floor.I was sure that it was the person who abducted me. A petite lady with brown hair and blue eyes walked towards me with a bowl, and she smirked.“Re-Rebecca?” I mouthed as my eyes widened in disbelief. She used to be Christian’s secretary. Of course, she would want my head; Christian wasn’t paying her attention anymore. They weren’t having any of that good sex, and then he fired her.I could tell the minute I saw how he looked at her that day when I went to his office. They had something going on, but then I thought it would be Cassidy, but the turns of events were rather shocking.“I’m happy you rem

CHRISTIAN’S POV“Come on, Hayley. Pick up the phone."I mouthed as I paced around in the living room. I reacted stupidly yesterday; I shouldn’t have talked to her like that. I shouldn’t have told her to abort the baby; what stupid suggestion was that? And now that she had left home, I had no idea where she was. I couldn’t reach her; she was picking up my calls, and she still hadn’t come back home.Maybe she was right, and having a baby would change me. It would make my life in a different light. She wanted me to listen to her so badly. It wasn’t like she was forcing the baby on me; she understood even my own plight. She just wanted to talk, to figure out a solution, and I completely shut her down. It was like I was now making my own life more miserable than it already is.“She won’t pick up your calls, Christian." I turned to the sound of Riele’s voice; she was coming from the kitchen holding a glass of booze.“Thanks a lot for the help,” I replied sarcastically. She rolled her eyes.

His eyes widened, and then a storm of emotions brewed on his face. My hands started shaking nervously, and I could tell that he was pissed—like pissed as fuck.“Pregnant? Are you kidding me, Hayley? Is this some sick joke?”I shook my head. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes. I thought having a baby was a good thing. Whether planned or unplanned, we had the resources to take care of it. But then I understood that Christian wasn’t ready because of what he was going through at the moment.“No, Christian. It’s true. I know we didn’t plan it, and I swear I was scared to tell you." He cut me off“How long have you known?” He dropped the whisky bottle on the bedside drawer and faced me, his back resting comfortably on the bed's headboard. The scenario looked like a teenage girl opening up to her father about her unwanted pregnancy."Yesterday, the doctor said I’m three weeks pregnant. And that I was going through too much stress.”He scoffed, “Too much stress? I guess he’s a stupid doc

HAYLEY’S POVMy heart had been pounding in my chest like crazy since last night; I had blacked out suddenly. When I woke up, I was being treated by a doctor, and Riele was by my side. She had told me that Christian went to trash the wedding; to be honest, I wasn’t exactly expecting him to be calm about things. Ever since my dad almost overdosed and died, he just left again and never came back. So if I heard he was starting a new life after all the pain he had put us through, I would crash the wedding too.But that wasn’t my problem out of the many problems on the ground. Hermione had come to see Christian to clear things up, and coincidentally, she came with Liam.“It’s safe to say that we are both victims, Christian.” Hermione started, and the air in the living room was thick with tension as she and Liam faced Christian.I wasn’t sure what Hermione wanted—maybe reconciliation? But she was also a victim of Bernard’s lies and secrets. Liam, on the other hand, just wanted to be clear
