(In Valentino's POV)
"È il bastardo morto?" (“Is the bastard dead?”) I asked already knowing that he would never do that because he knew how much I enjoyed killing people."Nessun capo! Solo catturato." (“No boss! Only captured.”) He answered and I smirked knowing that he will be my new plaything."Adeguato!" (“Adequate!”) I hung up and stepped out of the elevator of the mall. I suddenly stopped in my tracks when I saw a toddler on the edge of the railing and he was giggling like crazy, like he was proud that he could crawl. He didn't even know that he was crawling his way to heaven. I rolled my eyes at him.Stupid kids!I picked the baby up, he started whining the moment I did though making me roll my eyes again. "Hey, little one! Where are your parents?"He looked at me for a second, well I have to admit he was cute, but then he slapped me.The audacity. He pointed a finger at me, "...gunreeera neh neh ma hump." I didn't understand a word he- no it, said but wanted to throw this thing off the railing myself before I could do that though I heard a voice."Aaron? Aaron darling, where are you?"I turned around and found the girl who was shouting and went over to her after rolling my eyes, for the third time, and asked if she was looking for this thing when she turned around and saw it.She quickly took it from my arms, well she tried to but my grip was strong and the toddler was not complaining. I repeated myself."Are you looking for it- I meant him?" Well, I didn't but who cares?I narrowed my eyes at her when she didn't answer."Yes, I am looking for him.""You should take this thing out after he learns some manners." I handed her the baby glaring at the thing before leaving the two alone.I have an important meeting to handle. I was happy, excited and nervous all at the same time for this very meeting. When I got to the place where we planned the meeting will be held, everyone was already there. Caramel opened his useless mouth, "Capo cosa ci hai messo così tanto tempo?" (“Boss what took you so long?”)"Nessuno dei tuoi affari." (“None of your business.”) I answered in a stiff tone and he laughed. I don't even know why this idiot laughed because I certainly didn't tell him a joke.I held myself back from rolling my eyes. Now, I wouldn't want them to get stuck."Ok, sapete tutti perché abbiamo questo incontro." (“Okay, you all know why we are present here?”) When everyone nodded I continued. "Buona! Voglio che tutti voi troviate mio figlio, il mio bambino e la mia ragazza, Voilà." (“Good! I want y’all to find my baby and my girlfriend, Violà.”)I walked over to the table, poured myself some scotch and started swirling it. "I got some tip that she is here, a little before a week ago. You guys have one week! No more no less. I hope you all find them, that's what's best for you." I finally drank the drink in one large gulp."Capo, sai da dove dovremmo iniziare?" (“Boss, you know where we should start from?”) Someone asked."No! Non ho la più pallida idea di dove siano," (“No! I don’t know,”) I said while gritting my teeth, placing the glass back down. "That's what you are here for, idiota.""Capo, puoi mostrarci una loro foto?" (“Boss, can you show us a picture of them?”) This time it was Caramel."Si! Non ho una foto del bambino ma ho una foto di Violà." (“Yes! Not of the baby but of Violà.”) I answered and showed it to him."Capo! l'ho vista." (“Boss! I saw her.”) Someone said."Dove?" (“Where?”)"Quando sono arrivato in questo centro commerciale l'ho vista." (“When I came to this place I saw her.”)I felt my body spark up with hope. Maybe she is still here."A che ora?" (“At what time?”) I am getting impatient now."Non lo so, forse mezz'ora fa, forse è ancora qui." (“I don’t know, maybe half an hour ago, maybe she is still here.”) I was so happy but then I remembered something. She can't stand shopping, for even ten minutes, so I am sure she left but I was happy to know that we don't have to find her all over the world like I thought."No, se n'è andata ma ora abbiamo una pista e possiamo trovarla." (“No, she is gone but now we have a lead we can find her.”) I said dismissing them to make their plan to find my babies. Caramel came to me and started whining that he wanted to eat with me. I was so happy that I didn't even argue. When we got to the food court, the first thing I saw was a huge and never-ending line and was glad that I could get anything and ignore this line.Perks of owning this mall, I guess. The second thing I saw was that annoying baby, it was carried by a woman whose back was facing me, who I was sure wasn't the same as before because of her different hair color, they were in line, when it saw me, I took my tongue out at it and started moving showing him that I don't need to be in the line, when it noticed that, the thing started crying and I grinned, happy that I annoyed it but then a frown came to my face what if my baby was also like it. God! I really wish it wasn't that annoying. If it was though..You can kill your own kid though.. right? I mean if my boy slapped me I have a right to shoot him.I ordered some fries and sat at the table where Caramel was sitting and grossly eating his pizza, all the sauce was on his face and he was talking on the phone while eating. But I wasn't grossed out by this as I have known this idiot for a long time and knew how he loved to eat 'like a baby'- his words not mine. After ending his call, he smirked at me. "Oh sorry! you know I am famous and people love me-"I cut him off. "You know I would have killed you if it were any other day but right now I am happy enough to ignore you."He smiled, a genuine smile. We continued eating in our own little worlds not talking about anything in particular.Occasionally Caramel did try to take my fries making me slap the back his hand. Just occasionally though.I was so happy I was going to see my babies again but then out of nowhere my mind thought about that annoying little thing, Aaron - I guess its name was. It was the most annoying thing I have ever seen. Why am I even thinking about that thing again? Ugh.After eating we handled some business at a warehouse and after that I went home.I took a long shower, blood was difficult to get off at times alright. Then I changed into some comfortable clothes, brushed my teeth and went to lie down on my bed with only one thought running in my mind.I am going to see them again.I woke up with my phone ringing. I tried ignoring the sound. I really did, but the person ringing couldn't get a fricking hint.I sighed fully awake. I looked at the time it was fudging 6 in the morning but the noise wasn't ceaseing, so I got up and looked at Aaron and saw he was sleeping peacefully - that little guy wasn't even fazed by the noise. I smiled and my phone stopped, seriously couldn't you have stopped it before I got up, I mean come on, sometimes people are so annoying. When I was about to lie down again, thinking that I can call whoever the hell was calling me later, the phone rang again. Serious-fudging-ly. And my phone was in the fricking living room. An important fact never ever leave your fricking phone in the living room not if you don't want to exercise at 6 fricking am. And trust me when I say I don't want to get up but I also don't want to wake my baby up, which is kinda impossible because nothing can wake him up until he wants to but still I got up and finall
"Which one should I wear, dad?" I asked, showing him the navy blue, grey and black dresses, from the entrance of the kitchen."Black! Black is your color, darling."I ran back to my room and wore the dress. After doing my makeup to look professional, I went back downstairs, satisfied with myself."Eat up!" He said putting a plate in front of me of, wait what is that? Pancakes?Oh god! He is as bad at cooking as me, if not more.I mustered the courage to eat this, I can't even say pancakes. "Dad! Is this pancakes?" "Oh no darling! It's fried egg with bacon, didn't you notice?" I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. "Oh shit, I am late. Why don't you finish this? I will eat something on the way." I promised."But-" I gave him my best ' I can't eat this ' look. "Fine but promise me you will eat something." "I already did," I got up, gave him a kiss on the cheek."Bye pops!" "Okay, bye baby! Best of luck." I left excited about this interview. I just recently completed my deg
"One.. two... three.."Just then, the door knob turned and the door opened. "Welcome back, Oli!" Aaron started jumping excitedly, not knowing what was happening yet still on a sugar rush because of all the sweets he had eaten not too long ago. Olivia walked in with a grin on her face but instantly jumped back when we all popped party poppers in her direction. "Ahh! Guys, you got all the confetti stuck in my hair." "Aww, you look cute." Sam teased her. I walked up to Olivia and wrapped my arms around her tightly. "M- Mom can't b- breathe.""Oh, oops." I loosened my grip on her. "So how were your vacations? Did you eat properly? Did you have fun? Who dropped you off? I still think I should have picked you up. After all, it was your first trip-""Mom relax! The trip was fine. Some guy, who Granny told me is my uncle, dropped me off. And yes, like I have mentioned the gazillion times you have called me, I did eat properly.""Wait, you have an uncle?" "Apparently."I bent down to he
(In Olivia's POV) "Anna, come on. I am not a child anymore. It feels weird walking beside you, like some child." I crossed my arms over my chest. "Come on, kid. I am not letting you go on your own." A devilish smile spread across my face before I wiped it off by coughing a little. Time to play the trick, after which everyone did what I asked them to do. "You know, that's why Sam's my favorite. She never forces me to do anything, especially something as stupid as walking with her." I picked up the nearest item from the rack, having no clue as to what it was.Anna grabbed it from me before putting it right back. "Sam, let you wander off on your own?""Sure does. Even Mom lets me go.""Oh, now I know you are bluffing. Vivi wouldn't. You are just ten.""Exactly, ten not three. And I am not bluffing, she does." I didn't tell her that it was only a one-time thing or how I emotionally blackmailed her into letting me go or how the moment she did let me wander off I fell flat on my face or
The cafe was filled with people, just my awesome luck. This place was never filled, expect for weekends, but looks like today my awesome luck decided to show me how lucky I was. Oh and the cleaner called in sick. Gracias of my awesome luck!I bitterly smiled while cleaning the restroom for the third time. The manager, Adam, had taken over this place after his grandmother died. Adam was a perfectionist, I liked that about him but it was annoying at times. Like who the hell cleans, all over again, if anyone as much as breaths in the restroom let alone goes inside it just to do touch ups or to just get away from some creep. I washed my hands and walked out of the restroom. I couldn't even catch a break because someone told me to give two coffees at some table. I sighed and went over to that table. After that I went to the counter to ask for the bill for some other table. The two men, sitting on that table, ended up giving me a huge tip along with the bill. "There is really no need f
I carefully untangled myself from Oli, making sure not to wake her up, kissed her forehead and made my way to the restroom after making sure that Aaron was in his crib as well. Yesterday was hectic but the worst part was seeing Oli cry. After telling me how Anna let her wander off on her own, which this kid was obsessed with, she promised her that she would meet her in the clothing session. The kid made it back but with two weirdly shady men. I grew tense as to where this was going but as if Anna could sense it she told me they seemed nice and decent enough and that they stayed with her until Sam came. She told me how suddenly Oli started crying and wouldn't stop it. She hadn't eaten anything nor have she talked to anyone. Her excuse was she would only talk to me. I thanked Anna and Sam with her and they just waved me off, with a warning to pick up my call next time. After the two left I made my way to Oli's room. She was crying- no, not crying, she was sobbing. I quickly went ove
"Look who is here Oli." I grinned as I saw my kid running and hugging Magnolia."Mag, darling, you look so pretty." I told her and she gave me a small smile."Thanks, Viv." She turned her head to Olivia again and snickered. "What are you wearing?""Panda Onesie. Isn't it cute?" She did a little twirl. With a smile, I led Magnolia's mom to the living room where the other adults were sitting."I already left Oli's gift where all the other gifts were, at the entrance, but this is a card. Mag made it for Oli." Mag's mom smiled at me making a smile make its way on my face."Thank you so much. There was really no need for the gift."She just waved me off and walked over to the others."Hey, Vivi?""Yeah?" I asked Anna."Should we just feed them so they can leave?" I gave Anna a look. "What? That's what birthdays are about eating, giving gifts and kids finding some time between all of that to play."Before I could reply to her and give her a piece of my mind Sam came over. "Viv, there is this
I slapped my head inwardly. I didn't mean anything when I said anything, you idiot. "So open the door and take it." Sam commented as the pounding continued. Ugh, why can't you get a hint and leave?I just blurted out whatever came out of my useless mouth. "I.. can't. Yup, I can't. You see I opened the door and my clumsy self dropped that milk. And now he wants me to clean the mess as well as pay him. Now, how can my poor broke self give him money for the milk that I--""I will pay him." Anna offered already taking out money from her pant pocket. Sam glared at her. "So easy to say when you aren't actually the one making the money." I had the urge to ask how she made money again but I controlled it. Not the time, Vivi! Not the time."Anna, you don't really have to. He would just leave when he realizes he isn't getting an-" And in answer to that the pounding got louder. Great! Just spiffing."That person isn't going anywhere." Sam chuckled. My useless mouth opened again but was i
After talking some more with Nolan, Mason and Olan, Nolan's twin, I finally made my way to Val's office. Olan came after a little while and I noticed that Olan and Nolan were nothing similar. Sure, their facial features were similar, but their personalities were so different. Whereas Nolan was pretty straightforward, Olan had this bubbly side and this happy-go-lucky persona. And when Olan got to know that we were talking about Mason's love life, he was really excited and he gave so many suggestions as to what Mason should do to get her attention. I rolled my eyes at the mystery girl. She probably already likes him. I mean who wouldn't like Mason? He was handsome – with his electric blue eyes and brown curly-ish hair, which girl wouldn't fall for him! He was also funny, a chef and smart. Why am I even thinking about it? I don't care about who Mason likes. Infact, as his friend I am happy for him. Yup, I am happy for him. Even if it was me, which Mason made clear that it isn't,
I took the disposable cup from Mason and put it in the bag. I was helping Mason. Mason made it his mission to give everyone tea and later on take the cups from them. I helped him whenever I could. I avoided the ground floor and preferred to be free only when he was on Adrian's floor. Thank god, this was Adrian's floor, my favorite floor. His team is really friendly. I am pretty sure the idiot begged Val to not let any toxic person on his floor. Mason handed me another cup. "Massy?" "Hmm?" He raised an eyebrow at me. "Last I checked, you were the sweeper. When did you become a waiter? Ugh, we just left Adam." I whispered to him, moving closer. "Weren't you the one lecturing me I shouldn't let people walk all over me?" He smirked at me. "I don't let anyone walk over me." He leaned in closer so his mouth was closer to my ear, like he was about to reveal the biggest secret. "These aren't for free. I charge one dollar and if I see someone is either more rich or dumb, I cost them two
Another week has passed since I first started working for Val. The constant glares from the workers and receptionist, on the ground floor, were a reminder that I still wasn't welcome in the office. Adrian and his team, basically all the people on Adrian's floor were nice. I even made some friends. And of course, Mason, that guy was something else. I couldn't help but be glad that he was there. If he saw someone glaring, at me, he would glare right back at them tenfold. My stomach churned with warmth, in a good way, and it only intensified when I thought about Val. About how he wanted to fire everyone who was glaring and badmouthing me and how he was so nice. Why was I such a mess? I can't get involved with a guy especially not now. Not Mason and definitely not Val! And I still needed to figure out what Oli and Val were hiding from me. But I would figure that out later, right now, there was something else I need to worry about. The therapist!Today was my first therapy session a
Realizing a breath, I didn't even know I was holding, I made my way to the office. With a little last pep talk I opened and closed the door. The whispering stopped and I could feel almost every single pair of eyes staring into my soul. I ignored them and made my way to the elevator. What caught my notice though was the new person siting on the receptionist's desk and glaring harshly in my direction. And that wasn't all it was the same girl, who was on some other floor when I first came to this building to give my interview. I stepped inside the elevator when the doors opened. When the door opened, I made my way to Val's room, already tired of just thinking the mess Oli created.I stopped just before it though as I heard some heated conversation going on inside. "Val, you can't be serious right now?" I rolled my eyes as I recognized the voice. "Valentino Ivan Morte, you can't-" "Sarah Aurora Morte, you are wasting my time. And let me tell you a secret I don't like time wasters. Yo
I look at the completely dark room and my first thought is my kids. Where are they? Are they safe? They might be scared. Oli hates dark. "Olivia? Aaron? Guys, where are you? Olivia? Aaron?" I try to make something out of the stupid dark, but am disappointed as I just continue to aimlessly whirl around the room. "Baby? Where are you? Aaron? Oli?" There is a yellowish light coming from the far end of the hallway and with a one last unsuccessful look I follow the light. As soon as I hear screams I take faster more hurried steps towards the light. "Oli? Ary?" I stop shouting and walking as I reach the end of the hallway and can see through the yellowish light. There are two people in the room. One of them is facing the other way, so I can't see their face, and has a gun in their hands, the other one is tied and is currently screaming and sobbing. I can't really make the other person out as well. "Please. Please, just let me go. Help me, someone. I am really sorry." The one pointing
