Run!

That's exactly the only word my muddled up mind has been screaming but I couldn't will my legs to obey the command, and even if I do, to where? I remained rooted to my spot while my heart continues to drum crazily in my chest.

It talked! I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the creepy foghorn voice, a voice that could make the strongest of men crumble with fear, until I heard it speak again.

The voice sends shivers of fear down my spine whilst the temperature around me drops and the atmosphere became freezing cold.

"You're growing. Faster than I had imagined," it said, pausing for a second before it continues, "It's almost time and I can't wait to do it all over again." I flinched.

I can feel its burning gaze on me although I don't know what its face looks like and the voice of it I cannot distinguish, all I could do is to stay rooted to where I stand while I shake with fear like a lost puppy in the rain. Nervously, I swallowed a lump in my throat and stiffened a cry. I'm not a fan of fairytales but I found myself wishing for a knight in shining armor to come to my rescue and save the day.

I searched around in the darkness with my eyes for the source of its voice but it seems to be coming from all directions. Its presence can be felt everywhere.

If my heart was beating crazily before, it's going wild now. The whole of me is freezing from the drop in temperature and that its doing too. It's making me suffer for only the gods know why.

"Wh-y?" That was the first word I could force out of my quivering lips. "Who a-re you?." I asked, letting the words escape through my gritting teeth. I have so many unanswered questions but that was the little I could force out, the rest remain stuck on my tongue.

"Who am I?" It mockingly asked before I felt a cold breath of air fan my left ear, followed by its low sinister response, "Oh ye little mortal, you will know who I am, surely when the time comes but For now," It chuckles wickedly, "I enjoy tormenting the weak little thing you've found yourself, so weak that it couldn't protect itself."

Its shrilly laughter filled the air and I was forced to bring my shaky hands to my ears.

Somehow, I felt the last response wasn't meant for me, like it wasn't directed at me, it's more like it was directed to someone, or maybe something invisible like it. Then I felt it.

I felt something stir within me. I was so sure it wasn't there before. I don't know what it was but am thankful it made me feel warm and the cold vanished, but only for a moment.

The warmness didn't last as I wanted. It faded away just as fast as it came and I was subjected back to the cold that surrounds me.

"That's more like it. I always knew you were in there." It remarked in a deadly tone.

Silence.

Everywhere went silent after its last words. The only assurance of its presence was the increasing drop in temperature.

"Plea-se, let m-e leave, you got the wron-g person." I pleaded in a tiny brittle voice, breaking the silence.

"No mortal, I didn't," it said with a hint of anger etched to its tone, "I say these things verily unto thee, I shall kill ye and trap thy soul so it may not rise again." I felt my wrist being grabbed by an invisible strong hand the moment those words were voiced and I was forcefully dragged.

I know too well than to fight it. It will be a wasted effort if I try freeing my hand so I let myself be dragged. It drags me on what felt like rough stony ground but it didn't hurt, I felt no pain.

It suddenly hissed in pain and freed my hand, moving away from me. I knew it moved away because the temperature around me no longer felt as cold as it was before. The warmth returned.

I picked myself up from the ground and I behold something magical.

Floating in front of me is a beautiful ball of light. I poked it with a finger and the ball exploded into tiny floating particles, swirling above me before coming together to form a large circle of light in front of me. Out of curiosity, I stepped into the circle and watch as the light wrapped themselves around me, making my feet to slowly leave the ground.

I will be coming for you very soon! This isn't the last time!

The disembodied voice screamed but I was already too far up in the dark sky to care about its ranting.

I knew I was free.

"Morning mom." I greeted picking up an apple from the fruit bowl on the dining before drawing the wooden chair backward to make space for my feet while I sit. "Morning dear. Do you feel any different?" She questioned. To be honest, she's been suffocating me with questions since I got back home from the hospital. I understand that she's worried about me like a mother should be but, this is unlike her, she doesn't put her emotions on display like she's doing right now, she hides them perfectly. I'm not just used to this side of her. "Where is dad?" I asked ignoring her question. She looked up to stare at me for some seconds before replying. "He's outside trying to get the car ready for you. He volunteered to take you down to school himself so you don't have to wait for the bus." He did? What about work, wouldn't he be late? I wondered o

I stood in awe, marveling at the beauty and architectural design of the hallway. Wow! The word escaped my lip before I could stop it. Beauty is an understatement for a place like this. I wasn't expecting a building so old to have such a unique and amazing interior. The long hallway was lined with different works of art, ranging from sculptures to paintings. My old school wasn't even half as beautiful. "Excuse me," I stopped an average height blonde girl with freckles and dark chocolate hair packed in a tight bun. "Can you point the principal's office to me please?" I asked. She stared at me for what seems to be like an eternity with intense curiosity in her eyes, murmuring incoherent words. I could only pick a few lines from what she was saying. "...for the time has come for the awakening

Amaris's POV How can this much beauty and perfection be awarded to a man, just one, out of billions? It's moments like this that do make me wonder if God takes a special time off to create some people. I feel he's partial when it comes to allocating beauty to his creations. I've countlessly found myself envying the beauty of Ariana Grande and Shakira, the hotness of Zayn and Drake, but the masterpiece in front of me is.. damn! He's super hot. Perfection is at its peak when it comes to him. If truly gods still thread the surface of the earth, I'm sure standing in front of one. His dark chocolate hair was styled into a side fringe while his low chin strap beard leans across his sharp jawlines, making his triangular-shaped face more pronounced. Mine, He stated. "You missed the first class for the day." The principal whom I now know as Mr. Russel said, handing my timetable and locker's key over to me. He walked towards the door and I follow suit and we both stepped outside. I was disappointed when I met with the absence of the strange guy. This feeling of disappointment is meaningless. Why do I have to feel that way for a stranger? I questioned myself. Mr. Russel lead me through the big hallway till we reached a big stained glass door with flower intricate, he stepped into the classroom and all the students chorused their greetings. "Well," he started, "we have a new student on transfer and she will be joining this class. Introduce yourself please." He concluded, stepping aside for me to take the lead.

He quickly turned to his front with a faked serious look on his face but Mr. Railey wasn't fazed by his pretense. "Not so fast Lucian!" I caught you already." He said in a strict tone. "Can you explain to the whole class what you found interesting on Miss Croston's face?" Being a new student means a lot of things to me, it's like am being given another chance to be better and am not ready to lose it. I can't risk having my grade lower than they already are. The hot afternoon wind blows on my face as I stood on the school's front step with my eyes closed, savoring the earthly smell coming from the forest around. I let myself get carried away by the warm heat of the sun as it beats down on me while I wait for what seems like an eternity for dad's car to pop up. I got tired of waiting and decided to sit on the wooden waiting bench at the school bus stop. The bus had left before I came and only a few fancy cars are left parked. I was left with no choice but to wait for dad. I tried calling his and mom's line but the call wouldn't connect and I kept on getting referred to their voicemails. The sky is starting to have some patches of grey cloud, slowly losing its bright blue color as the evening draws nearer. I sat on the bench, nervously chewing on my nails. I was carried away with my thought and didn't notice when Lucian walked up to me, "Hey, w

I surfed through the sea of students clustered here and there in the hallway till I got to the washroom. I closed the creamy white panel door behind me while I walk to the ceramic washbasin which is embedded into the timeless beige painted wall, right below the screwed-in long rectangular wall mirror. I turn on the tap, splashing some water on my face, hoping I could wash off my stupidity. I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. I could have at least give him a reasonable reply and not just stare at him like some dumb girl whenever he tried striking a conversation with me. But that is inevitable. My heartbeat quickens whenever he's around, and I often find myself behaving like an idiot. I jumped at the sound of the door opening because I wasn't expecting anyone to enter the washroom during this hour. 'Everyone is supposed to be in class, listening to lectures,' I thought.

I can't read without seeing his imaginary face in my textbook, and my mind isn't helping, it kept on playing tricks on me.Sometimes in the night, I will think I heard his voice, but most times, it's just a wolf howling in the distance. The last time I opened my window in the night, I saw a small black wolf with green shiny eyes right outside my window, and a few seconds later, it got tackled to the ground and was torn to shred by a grey wolf with red eyes, whose fur reflects the glowing night moon.It
