Chapter Five

Wyatt

I had sent Jack and Archie back to the pack lands hours ago under ruse that I wanted them to bring me back my motorcycle so it would be easier for me to track down my mate. In truth, I had no idea where to start. I know that it's ridiculous for me to be sitting here astride my Harley in this empty parking lot, hoping that she might return. Especially seeing as I had no idea why she was here in the first place. But nevertheless, here I am.

'Maybe if you hadn't threatened her, she wouldn't have run away.' Jaxs so helpfully pointed out.

'Don't you think I realize that?' I barked back.

I checked my watch again like we had a date and she is late. It's now a quarter pass one in the morning, and my hope is slowly fading. I was pulling up my kickstand up when I saw her car hauling ass down the street in front of me. I could hardly believe it, but it was definitely the same vehicle she left in. Without another thought, I started the engine and pulled onto the highway following her using my own eyesight, I didn't need to turn on my headlight.

I followed her out of town, wondering where she might be going. A low growl formed deep in my chest as the thought crossed my mind she might be on her way to see a boyfriend, but then she pulled into the national forest reserve. I parked far enough away as not to be spotted and let Jaxs pull the shift. He slipped us easily into the tree line. We watched her as she got out of the car, stripped off her clothes, throwing them in through the drivers window, shifted into her wolf, and took off into the woods.

Jaxs followed closely behind her with no problem. Her wolf was beautiful a little large for a female, but he already knew she was an Alpha female, so that would explain it. She was graceful and light on her paws, leaping over fallen trees, swerving in and out of the vines and undergrowth like she was a part of the forest itself. We watched in aww as she navigated the terrain with spped, ease, and precision. Suddenly, the wind shifted slightly, and the wolf lifted her nose to the air. I knew we had been found out. Jaxs whimpered and laid himself down on the ground.

'What is it?' Hope asked Miana, sensing the change in her.

'He's here."

'Who where?'I asked frantically, looking all around us.

'Mate!' she answered.

Then I saw him, a massive charcoal gray wolf with piercing golden eyes laying in a submissive position only a few feet away from us. Before I could stop her, Miana was moving us forward closer to him, much too close. Miana laid down in front of him with her head on her paws in the same position as him. I urged her to get up and move away, but Miana remained in her spot, and I let her. Though I was terrified there was something so beautiful about this moment I could not take it away from my Wolf.

Then the big wolf jumped up and ran off into the brush, and I let out a sigh of relief. It was short lived though as he returned in a few minutes carrying clothes in his moth. He placed a t-shirt in front of us and ducked back out of sight. When he returned, it was Mr. Smells good standing in front of us. Miana got up, picked the shirt up in her mouth, and moved us behind a huge tree. She didn't waste time shifting, and I was soon standing there in the middle of the woods naked. I picked up the shirt and slipped it over my head. It was way too big, coming down to my middle thigh area, and it smelt like him. I sighed heavily and stepped out of the trees and into his sight.
