~Ashley~
Willow took my hand and led me out a little farther from the spot I was attacked, then she let go of me.
Now, I laid naked on the sand as I hadn't gotten to where I left my clothes.
"I don't know what you're trying to do, but I want you to stop coming around Marcellus. Marcellus is my mate and I will not condone someone like you going close to him." She said with an evil smile.
It was cold outside, and because I had used up my strength when I let Kiara be in charge, I nodded weakly.
"You answer with your tongue when you talk to me. However, I can tear it out of your mouth and render you mute so you can nod your head whenever you are asked a question." She grinned.
I looked down at the sandy ground and supported my weight with my hands. "I've heard you, Willow. I promise you, it won't happen again."
I could see Willow was not ready to relent. She glanced around and walked up to me, then she squatted and drew closer to my left ear.
"Ashley, I don't care if you're his real mate, but if I see you close to him again, I will make your life worse than it already is."
After saying that, she got up and walked away. I stared at her back for a while before getting up.
I glanced around the woods again to make sure no one was in it, before I got up and limped over to where I had hidden my dress.
"Well, that wasn't fun because all I wished was for you to reach out and rip out her heart." Kiara aired her evil thought.
"I want to do nothing less, but believe me when I say it's a suicide attempt." I huffed as I put on my pants, then my shirt. "Although it's been a long time, I once fought with and she did me dirty. I was downhearted for days."
"You know, I noticed something. You lost control when I came out, letting me do whatever I wanted. Why was that?"
"I just believe freedom is everything. And guess what, I'm thinking of relocating to the city soon. Far from this pack and far from Willow and the mate she stole from me."
Kiara said nothing else. I pretty much appreciated the silence as I had a lot to brood on.
When I got home, I met mother in the living room. I greeted her, but heard no reply from her.
When I tried to walk past her, her harsh voice stopped me. "You caused trouble for Marcellus and Willow. Why, are you jealous you haven't found your mate yet?"
"I was attacked in the woods by some rogues. Marcellus happened to hear it and came to my aid. Willow came after and... Helped me." I said.
"Really? The rumors on the street says otherwise." Mother said again and raised her head to look at me. "They said you tried to steal Marcellus. Because that's what you always do."
I forced down the bitter taste that came from my throat. However, I couldn't stop the tears that filled my eyes.
With blurry eyes, I looked at my mother. The un-consoling look on her face made me doubt if I was really her daughter.
Slipping my hands inside my pocket, I said. "You know, mother, sometimes I do wonder if we're related by blood. Tell me the truth, are you really my mother?"
She had the same look in her eyes when she got up and proceeded towards me. "I carried you for nine months and I gave birth to you. And here you stand, questioning me about your authencity. I see you've grown. You've grown so much that you now talk back at your birth mother."
I smiled. "You say this, but tell me, you're a werewolf, and I am a Hybrid, yet, I have no idea who my father is. Neither do I have any resemblance to you in any way. That is enough to suspect that we're not related!"
The moment the words left my tongue, I felt the a stinging pain on my cheeks.
"After so many years, you still deem it fit to hit me. Why don't you hit me again, mother?"
"I will not stand here and watch you insult me! Go to your room right now and reflect on your behaviour!" She thundered.
For the first time, I saw the raw hatred in her eyes.
"Don't worry, mother. I will leave. I will leave your goddamn house and never return!" I replied and walked to my room.
I pulled up my bed where I was so sure I kept my money to see it empty.
With frown, I pulled it out of the best stand and dropped it on the floor. I searched my entire room for five minutes in search of the money all to no avail.
That was when I realized something was wrong. I turned around to see mother standing at the door post, watching me with a callous smile.
When a realization dawned on me, I laughed nervously before asking. "Mother, don't tell me you really took my money?"
"Ashley, you've been living under my roof your whole life without paying. It just so happens I was in need of money this afternoon, when I didn't find you, I decided to check your room to see if you have any money. Thankfully, you did, so I took it and solved my problem."
"Mother, I've been saving that money since I was ten." I said in a low voice while I pinned my eyes on her. "You once said I was a burden to you. I want to elevate that burden which was why I started saving up so I can leave. However, now you've taken my money I have no choice than to ask you to replace it."
"I am your mother and your money is the same as mine. I've also been feeding you for years and I've never asked a dime from you. This is the first time I'm taking your money and you're making it look like I stole it? Can you be more ungrateful, Ashley?" She replied and stepped forward.
"I just want my money, mother. Only when I get it can I leave your side and stop being under your roof! My whole life I've done everything to please you, but each time you act like my efforts worth nothing!"
Mother looked at me for a full minute before walking away.
I fell to the floor and drew my knees to my stomach. I don't know how long I cried, but I do know when I stopped, everywhere had gone extremely calm.
Judging by the starry night, and the sounds of crickets chirping, I concluded it must be deep into the night.
Grabbing an extra clothes from my drawer, I tucked it into a mini-school bag and quietly left the house.
I got to the the river and took off my clothes, then I submerged myself in it. My blood which seemed to have been boiling inside of me became warm and continued flowing just like normal.
"Kiara, are you alright?" I asked out loud and waited close to a minute to hear a reply, but got none.
When I left the water, I felt a living thing inside of me and instantly felt my stomach churn.
"I forgot to eat the whole day because of unnecessary dramas." I sighed and began dressing up.
The night had a half-moon so I wasn't really bothered about being seen naked. Nonetheless, I got dressed as quickly as possible, then stuffed the other clothes inside my bag.
However, I decided to take a stroll inside the woods despite the chilling wind. When I strolled for a bit, I noticed someone was following me.
I continued walking and acted completely oblivious to it. I guess whoever it was really took my bait and decided to attack.
I swung a foot backward which startled him. Before he regained his stance, I grabbed him by the neck and sank my fangs in it.
I tried to remove my fangs, but when my tongue tasted the warm, sweet blood, I continued sucking it until I felt him go dry then I tossed him to the ground.
The realization of what I just did dawned on me and I was horrified. I frantically turned my hands over hoping what was supposed to happen wouldn't.
I was so wrong because the next second, I felt a sharp pain go from my brain to my entire body. A pain which sent me sprawling on the ground.
I could hear my bones cracking. I thought I could endure it, but when my back cracked, a painful scream escaped my lungs before I fell to the ground and my vision went black.
~Ashley~I woke up because of the chirping of birds. It was a pleasant morning as the golden sun rays suggested, but recalling the last thing that happened before I fell unconscious, I got up immediately. I looked beside me to see the dry bones beside me. His skin had gone thin and clung to his bones so tightly that it was difficult to tell them apart. I felt nauseous remembering I had rendered him in such a condition by draining him of his blood. I staggered to the river bank and instantly drew water up with my hands. I splashed it multiple times on my face before I breathed out in relief. My eyes soon narrowed down to the water which reflected my face. A spotless face. Without any scar on it! Minutes of staring emotionlessly into the water didn't help, my face still remained the same. I was prompted to splash mud on my face when I heard hurried footsteps coming from the forest. I felt a hard hand press down on my shoulder then I was thrown backwards. I landed on my back and w
I guess my nagging took Cassie by surprise. It also caught the attention of the other wolves. Then I heard the girl who had brought the news say, "Omegas might be low in rank, but they are still considered better than those without any rank. Talk more of an ugly, terribly scarred, duckling." "You—" The word slipped out of Cassie's tongue before I could stop her. Surprised at my defiant look, Cassie snorted and lowered her head angrily. I turned to look at the girl and smirked amidst the mud which had stiffened my face. "Omegas like you only know how to look down on the pack members. If we don't give you the fear you want, that makes you like us." I had a lot of things in my head so I didn't bother to listen to whatever she had to say or the surprised gasp that rang out of everyone's lips. I walked into the house and slammed the door shut. When I got to my room, I picked up my mask and headed to the bathroom, taking with me a small, rough mirror. I once again confirmed I was beau
I heard Cage move from where he stood to my front. Then he squatted to my kneeling height. "You were the only one we saw there, are you sure you saw nothing?" Once again, I shook my head. "I really didn't." "That's okay, you can raise your head now." I heard Maverick say and obliged by looking up slowly. I evaded everyone's eyes and stared towards the air. I saw Cage nod his head at Jerry who walked forward with a necklace. He held it thinly and dangled the pendant. "Isn't this yours?" I looked down on my chest to notice the crescent pendant which often hung on my neck was nowhere to be found. "I must've lost it when I was running." I replied. Jerry breathed out and turned to Cage. "I found this right beside the body of Omega George." That was when it hit me! It must've fallen off when I went unconscious. "You better not be lying because—" Jerry was interrupted with the abrupt presence of Marcellus. He entered the room like he owned the place. How could I forget, he really d
~Willow~I waited anxiously in my room for night to cover. If there really was a vampire beside the river, it could be my only chance to make father happy. I was distracted when I heard a knock on my door. So I got up and walked towards it, when I opened it, I came in contact with a servant. "The Alpha's eldest son asks for you to meet him beside the lake." She delivered, bowed slightly and walked away. Marcellus wants to see me? The thought of it made my wolf excited. Without wasting another second, I slipped out of my room and headed towards the lake. When I got there, I found him seated on his usual spot, his drawing book in his hands and his attention solely on whatever he was sketching under the moonlight. However, he closed the book as soon as I got closer to him and got up. We stared at each other in silence before I decided to break it. "You asked for me." He breathed out and walked towards me. I could hear his soft breathing and the urge to be marked by him overwhelmed
~Ashley~I woke up due to the voices in my head. "Blaine, Kiara, can you two lower your voices? I'm trying to sleep here!" Kiara quietened but as the demon that she was, Blaine didn't want to. "Come on, there's no need to be harsh on the little wolf." "Who do you think you're referring to as little!" Kiara rebuffed, getting ready for another squabble. The same one which woke me. Just when I was about to caution them, the door to my room swung open and Cage walked in. "Good morning and sorry for entering in such a rash way. Your presence is needed at the meeting room." He said as he walked towards me. "Ever since I got into this house, I've lost my right as a pack member as most of them now think I killed one of my kind." I said as I got up from the wooden bed. "We didn't really blame you, we just hoped you had seen what happened. But I don't think you're needed again because another killing transpired last night." He smiled and looked towards the door. "Let's move along while
I jerked up as soon as I heard approaching footsteps. When I looked towards the door, I saw mother standing with a bucket of cold water in her right hand. She smirked seeing I was awake. "I was beginning to think you won't wake up." I didn't reply her as I struggled to get up from the bed. When I passed her by, I grabbed the bucket in her hand forcefully, "Permit me to use this in washing my face." I walked out with it and returned back when I was done. She already changed positions, sitting on the wooden chair. "If you have anything to say to me. Say it!" I scoffed, dumping the bucket beside the chair. "There are different news flying about. Some say you tried seducing Marcellus and others say you killed Omega George. As your mother, I'm caught between crossroads at which to believe." Then she turned to look at me and asked seriously, "Don't you think you should tell me what it is you've been doing ever since you turned 18?" "I don't need to tell you what I've been doing. As you
~Ashley~The sound of children playing outside made me open my eyes slowly. I held my banging head and sat up. I looked around and noticed I was in my room. When I looked outside, I noticed it was morning. Jerking up, I rushed to the window dumbstruck at how I got there. Other than that, I had no memory of what happened with me and Rebecca. As I thought hard on what happened, Cassie's face soon appeared in my view. The look in her eyes wasn't something new to me. "I'm sorry I couldn't make it last night." I apologized. Cassie just stared at me, her expression changing from anger to shock. "What is it?" I asked apprehensively. "Y-our sc-ar. It's gone!" Oh no!Whatever happened, I just found myself scaling through the window and jumping over to her room. I held her head and narrowed my eyes down to hers. "I've been taking something which has been clearing it. If you want it, I can lend it to you." She had a blank look on her face before she slowly nodded. I nodded as well and s
~Ashley~"Coming to this lake isn't that bad of a choice after all. At least, I get to maintain my peace of mind." I murmured, drawing whatever came to mind with my eyes closed. Ever since I compelled Cassie and Jenny, Blaine and Kiara have been at war. Their source of bickering didn't make sense to me so I decided to have a quiet time beside the lake. Like Marcellus often does. My ear suddenly twitched as I heard an ongoing conversation and hurried footsteps. "Did you hear?" "Hear what?" "Seven pack members died last night. The witch was asked to divine what happened and she said a banshee wailed close to our pack."A surprise gasp flew out of the listener's mouth. "We haven't had a banshee come near us for decades. Why does this one suddenly have to appear out of nowhere?" "That isn't the problem for me. The Alpha has ordered everyone to go back to training in the pack house. Young pack members, male and female, who have the will and desire to fight are urged to try it." "Bei
"Look at that. A perfect union of a mother and her daughter. And is that rage I see in your eyes? Beautiful!" Bardot exclaimed as he clapped his hands slowly. Ashley narrowed her eyes at Bardot's unfamiliar face. "I take it you're the stubborn sibling because I did see one of the Elshers on the floor with a dagger in his heart." "Don't worry, he'll be coming along with you and your mother. He's useless to me alive anyway." Bardot replied and raised the stake in his hand. But before he took a step forward, he felt the earth shake. He thought it was his imagination but the same thing happened again. He glanced behind him to see the people with him were equally shocked as well. Then he turned his attention to Ashley to see a group of people walking towards them in an organized manner. They wore casual clothes but that didn't hide the viciousness in their eyes as they stopped just behind Ashley and gazed at him. "Oh, I think I forgot to say something." Queenie sighed with a smile. P
Mia's Apartment, in the cellar Ashley watched Mia draw a big circle on the floor with a white chalk. As the woman drew it, Ashley felt a piercing gaze on her and glanced towards its direction only to see Iris. She sighed and folded her arms underneath her breasts. At this point, she had no doubt this girl would kill her if she was given a stake to drive into her heart. "Alright, Ashley." Mia said as soon as she was done. She straightened up and walked towards Ashley. "Just bleed some of your blood over there and go lie in the circle." Ashley walked over to the bowl Mia had pointed at and bit down on her palm. She repeated the process more than three times due to her quick healing. After a considerable amount had dripped into the bowl, she relented. She wiped her palm on her dress and walked into the circle. She laid down in it and closed her eyes. Soon, Mia took hold of Cassie and laid her right beside Ashley. "I need you to hold her hand. I need a connection between you two. A
"I don't know. I should be asking you." Drexa replied with a frown. She has risked her life coming here only to find out Taylor had no idea how to unlock the safe. "Do you have any idea what the safe was like when your parents were still alive?" Drexa asked but Taylor shook her head. "I was just a child. I think I was just 2. What would I remember?" Taylor asked rhetorically and Drexa frowned even harder. "Think Taylor. By coming to you I'm putting my life on the line. Cassidy will kill us both if she finds out this is what we discussed." Drexa paused and glanced towards the vampires she had killed outside the door. She turned back to Taylor to see the girl looking at her with a horrified expression. "I'm glad you get it. My siblings and I have already tried to kill Cassidy before and she surprisingly spares us but that means we'll be her slave for eternity. And other than that, she's going to continue wrecking havoc." "I know, I understand what you're trying to say. Without the
"Aunt Mia, what is she doing in your house?" Iris asked Mia, totally ignoring Ashley. Seeing this, Ashley smiled and relaxed on the chair. Then she looked between Iris and Mia. "This is Ashley Elsher, the daughter of Cassidy Elsher." Mia introduced them with a smile. Obviously, Iris hadn't recounted what Ashley had done to her in EverMore to Mia. "And I want you two to be good friends." Mia added. "No!" The two girls shouted at the same time. Ashley had only been nice to Iris because she was Mia's niece. Who said she cared about being friends with such a horrible person like Iris! "Don't worry, you'll get to love each other." Mia merely said with a light smile and directed his attention back to Cassie who was still unconscious. The name Ashley had mentioned came back and her smile faded. "Did you say Yoel?" She asked and Ashley nodded. When Ashley saw the look on Mia's face, she automatically knew the woman knew Yoel as well. "He's a jerk. He happily recounted to me all he had
Bardot opened his eyes to find himself in an unfamiliar room. The first thing he recalled was the sight of Drexa driving a stake into his heart. He quickly tried to get up but discovered he felt extremely weak in his arms. "I think you've been daggered and kept in a box for close to six months. Or is it more than that?" He heard a familiar voice say and slowly turned to affirm his suspicion. "Disappointed?" Cassidy asked upon seeing the horrified look on his face. Bardot quickly turned his face away from her. "I can't say I'm happy to see you until you've handed over the stake in your possession." He said weakly. "So you guys can finally kill me with it permanently? No, thank you." Seh retorted with a scoff. "It's either you get up in the next ten seconds, or you remain daggered in a box for the rest of your immortal life. If you're lucky, someone can stumble upon you and free you. If you're lucky." "What? Are you back to being the controlling freak that you really are?" He said
Damien watched over his people with a wide grin on his face. He noticed someone watching him and turned towards her direction. "If I didn't know better, I would've mistaken that look for admiration." He said, walking over to her. Claire, who had her hands folded across her chest, unfolded it and slipped them into her pocket. She watched the people as well without a word. "I've been thinking about your offer." She sighed, her shoulders slumping down in defeat. "I was born a beta, being a Luna isn't a future I imagined for myself." Damien smiled and placed both hands on her shoulder. She stiffened as his masculinity drove her crazy, courtesy of the mating effect. "You are sympathetic, you've been part of the crowd for way too long so you know the people best. In my opinion, you know the people more than I do. You'll be the perfect fit for Luna." He said. Claire said nothing but when the effect of the mating bond kept increasing, she pushed him away and stormed out of there. Damie
Texas "And where have you been?" Keller heard as soon as she got into the house. She slipped both hands into her pocket and turned to look at Liam with a frown. "I've been out with Zelena." She retorted and the man's cold eyes only became colder. He got up and grabbed her arms. "I've known Zelena longer than you ever will and I'm telling you that whatever you're feeling for her is just how she wants you to feel. You need to snap out of it." He said, his tone sounding more like an order. Keller wriggled her way out of his arm and glared at him fiercely. "Don't talk about feelings. You don't have one so I don't expect you to know how it feels to have it." She walked away from him but got blocked by Rebecca who appeared out of nowhere. "Keller, I'm sorry if we pushed you into this and it turned a little real. But the truth remains that Zelena has to die to guarantee Ashley's safety." Rebecca said with a small smile. "Are you sure this is about Ashley or you two are making it up to
Cassidy walked out of her room only to come face to face with Ashley who was about to enter hers. Ashley had totally forgotten her room was just opposite Cassidy's. "I haven't seen you in days. Where have you been?" Cassidy asked as she walked out of her room properly and closed the door. Ashley thought of ignoring her but decided against it. Yoel had told her a lot of things at the bar and she thought she could confirm it at most. "Tell me mother, how many fathers do I have?" Ashley asked. Her question took Cassidy by surprise. The woman first drew her lips into a thin line before sighing. "Mind if we go for a walk?" Ashley nodded and the mother and daughter walked out of the house. "How did you know about it?" Cassidy asked on their way. "You tell me what I want to know and I won't waste any time in telling you what you want to know." Ashley replied. The corners of Cassidy's lips curled into a smile. No one was authorized to bargain with her yet, this little one here said so
"Caddel?" Ashley repeated with a small frown. "Is it the Caddel I know or I'm I missing something?" "Yep. It's the Caddel you know. The teenage looking guy who came up to you a few weeks ago claiming he wants to be friends with you." Yoel affirmed. Ashley was in a little bit of a shock as she slowly connected the dots together in her mind. He had been so convincing when he told her he wanted to be her friend. Despite her harsh words to him, he persevered. So that's why. "If Caddel is your brother and he is my father. Then that makes you my uncle. But at the same time, I don't believe you because the theory about having two fathers is something that has never been heard of in the history of supernaturals or even humans." Ashley refuted, part of her clinging onto that. She refused to believe she really had two fathers. "Look at you looking so sullen and in self-denial. I bet it must be a very bad feeling." Yoel laughed coldly and leaned towards her, "Also, Cassidy is just a few witc
