~Emma~ I was waiting for Bella, she asked me to meet her in town at the coffee shop on the corner of JazzJewels. I was sitting at the table with my coffee in hand, stirring the ice with a straw. The bell rang as the door opened up and a woman in sunglasses, a scarf around her head and gloves on came walking in like she was incognito. ”Bella?” I asked and leaned back when she neared the table. She removed the sunglasses and I gulped. Her eyes were bloodshot, she had a burn mark next to her right eye and bruises around both of them. Her lip was ripped and I could only imagine what the rest of her body looked like. ”I’ll order for you,” I said and got up. ”Mocha,” I nodded my head and walked up to the counter. I ordered her coffee and when I looked back I saw her removing her gloves, her hands were red and it looked like the flesh was missing on some parts. ”Thank you,” I said to the barista when I grabbed Bella's coffee and went back to her. ”Here you go,” I placed it in fro
My vision was getting weird, I was seeing everything clearly somehow. The colors were more prominent, the light was brighter and the smells were seeping up my nose and unmasking every single scent there was around us. Scents I hadn't ever smelled before were suddenly as obvious as the smell from the water and the damp grass. Sam couldn't mind-link me so we wouldn't be able to communicate until we were both in our human form. I hadn’t shifted yet and I was dreading the moment when all my bones would break and readjust. But I was also excited, I had a wolf and I was about to meet her. A loud howl echoed inside my mind and if fell closer to the ground. Sam was watching me with razor-sharp focus. ’I told you not to drink’ someone growled in my head. My eyes flew open and I looked into the eyes of Sam’s wolf. Who the hell had just spoken in my head? ’I told you not to drink’ The voice repeated in a snarl that freaked me out. ”Sam,” I said in a breath and looked up at him. Hi
~Emma~ Bella had given up her leverage. I was on my way to find Dave and tell him everything I'd heard but I couldn't shake this feeling that something more was going on that we didn't know about. Why would they switch like this? And what if they did it again only they sold us out to Damien? I couldn't see Sam betraying his brother, it didn't make sense. Bella was going back to her room to heal up and then we were meeting up tonight again. I needed to know why they changed their minds. Something told me it was more than just Bella realizing that the man she had given her loyalty to was a monster. ”Hey, everything okay? You look like you’re thinking really hard about something,” Dave said as he came up to me. I nodded my head and gestured for us to walk further down the street. Damiens warriors were all around but they didn't seem to pay us any attention. ”Are you alright?” He asked me again but I didn't answer. ”We need to talk,” ”Yeah, I got that, let’s go in here,” He grabb
~Selene~ There was no doubt that Sam was stronger than most werewolves I had met. He was a timber wolf, they were larger, stronger, and much more prone to kill than most others. His brother was even worse. Damien's strength was immense but what was even worse was his mentality. He wouldn't ever back down for anyone and by the looks of it, he would kill whomever he needed to kill in order to complete his agenda. I couldn't tell whether Sam was afraid of him or respected him. All of the warriors they had brought seemed to respect their Alpha but was it because of who he was or because they knew they’d be killed if they did anything else than bow their heads and keep their mouths shut? ”Stop daydreaming,” Sam said and massaged his bloodied hand. ”I’m just thinking,” I said and squinted my eyes. ”About what?” ”Your brother and you, what’s that relationship like?” I asked and took a seat on a rock. Sam's brows shot up. ”You’re sitting down? I didn't say we were finished training,”
~Emma~ Selene was on her way. She had been with Sam all day working on her wolf and I was anxious to hear about how it went. Dave seemed a little on edge as we sat in the bookstore and waited for her. He had gone out to get us all coffee and I could tell that he had questions. His eyes were on me one second and jerked away the next. ’He’s susposicous’ Of what? ’Of you' I gulped and took a sip of my coffee. The bell rang over the door as it opened. Selene stepped in and looked around. She seemed different, her shoulders were rolled back, her hair was shining, and her skin was perfect with a hint of a darker complexion than before. She had her wolf and it was visible on her entire appearance. ”Over here,” I said and raised my hand. Selene smiled and walked over to us. She pulled out a chair and took off her jacket before sitting down. I couldn't take my eyes off her. She was different yet still the same and it was confusing and beautiful at the same time. Everyone changes once
~Selene~ Alana. That was the only name written on the book. These were the oldest ones here and they weren't books with tales and folklore, they were history books. My heritage and my ancestors' lives were written in these books and passed on so that every Royal would know where he or she came from. I didn’t know the first queen's name and I didn't understand why it wasn't written on the book as the others. Nevertheless, I brought it down and placed it on the table. Emma, Dave, and I stood around as I flipped the first page. ’To my beloved Alana, my best friend, my wolf' My eyes widened as realization hit. The queen's name wasn't on the book because she was the one who had written it. Page after page spoke of her affection for Alana, her powers, her strength, and everything she had done for the queen. ”I’m not sure whether to think this is cute or creepy,” Dave said and winced. A vicious growl escaped me without my consent and the pages of the book flipped one by one quickl
”Annabeth accepted him. They married each other, he took the throne next to hers and swore his allegiance to the pack. I knew the risks of stepping forth, of connecting with her again. Annabeth would scream out for me, the panic she experienced from not being able to shift or contact me still lives on in my heart. But I couldn't have our bond ruining the pack or the throne. So I stayed away.” Alana looked down at the floor. Her heart clenched harder in her chest and I felt the urge to cry as her emotions entwined with my own. ”Eventually, the queen became pregnant. She had two children, a boy, and a girl. The throne had an heir. The queen realized by now that she and I wouldn't meet again. The choice did not lay in her hands, she was dealt a faith she had to live with. I had retreated so far that I couldn't come back even when I wanted to, the queen no longer had her wolf. But I could never in a million years presume she would do what she did next. As soon as her children were born a
I Walked back up and got to the kitchen. So far so good. I was careful so that none of Damien's people would see me. I stopped and hid where I had to but they weren't that many in the estate right now. The kitchen was almost empty. The only ones in there were two chefs whom I knew worked for the Royals. They turned their backs toward me as I came in and I started rummaging the fridge. There were lots of fresh meats in there and some bags of jerky in the pantry. I grabbed anything with protein and some bread as well. I grabbed as much as I could carry but one of the chefs came up and patted my shoulder. She held out a big plastic bag and I stuffed all the meats inside of it. I thanked the chef who seemed relieved at what was happening. Everyone here wanted things to go back to the way they were. They didn't want Damien and his people here but if they tried doing something themselves, they’d get slaughtered. The hallways were empty so I went behind the stairs and to the back room, cu
