Author's POV
‘Why Today?’ Aubrey pondered to herself.
Shell-shocked and confused, Aubrey stood at the door with Shannon and Rory standing underneath her skirts while peering at the strange men.
She wondered who was Aiden among the two and what the fuck was going on?
Why now?, She reflected again in anger.
They looked surprised and relatively happy to see her.
Their eyes kept her at a standstill as she recognized them… Their scents were practically the same, and the bond they shared made her wolf want to seize the reins of control after all these years.
The green-eyed man Aiden was definitely the one that had held her while she had rushed out of her room to the marriage hall; he had also stopped from leaving the wedding before playing the tape.
In dread, she wondered if he had been the one to touch her because she had remembered that his hands were so familiar when he held her in the hallway.
Now standing in front of them, those feelings past forgotten filled her up, and she felt a tear slipping out.
Aiden's with blue eyes trailed down her face down to her chest and just then she noticed his gaze heavy on her naked body, tingling.
Curse the bond for making her act the opposite of how she had imagined this whole scenario.
They were twins…identical ones.
Worse still was Aiden had gotten his wolf before she left, which meant that he knew…he knew she was mated to him, but still thought it wise to treat her like trash.
And to think that she had almost died because of them.
“Mummy, are we going to stand all day?” She heard Shannon ask and just as one of the Aiden moved closer to talk, pulling her out of his hold and not giving him the chance, she slammed the door in their faces.
“Mummy…” Rory drawled, staring at her uncertainty, while Jay's eyes glowed with guilt.
He thought that somehow he had messed it all wrong by opening the door for the bad men.
Not minding that she was in front of the youngsters, she slid down against the door…ignoring the soft knocks of the men who had broken her.
As memories of the past hit her, she burst into tears, frightening her kids, who were clueless about what to do.
She cried at the betrayal they had made her go through and the casting away by the pack she had once called home.
“Mummy…” Jay called out softly as Shannon urged him towards him their crying mom.
“Not now Jay!” she sobbed, hoping they would give her some, but they all ran into her arms as though they were reminding her she had them.
Aiden and Damon, who were once knowing at the door, could hear her sobs and reassuring words from her kids.
Damon glared at the door but was held back by Aiden.
They had to remind themselves that this wasn't a world where they ruled with power.
If they broke down the door like their wolves longed to do and carried her away alongside the children Damon was sure were his, then all hell was going to break loose…and they would further, more endanger their community.
Damon strolled back to the car and stared at the house with so many mixed feelings.
Memories of the night he had spent with her filled his mind and when she had walked towards the door to meet them clad in just a shirt and boxers underneath, his wolf had raged.
He had suggested that they carry her off, rather than trying to win her over.
The amount of hurt she had passed through because of him would not make this a simple task.
Damn doubted if she would ever forgive him, for he especially was the one that had caused it all.
He was responsible for being the second person to walk into the room and lay with her, making her confuse him as Aiden.
Also, the one that had then taped her, although back then he had believed it was all for the better good…even if it meant losing her.
What she didn't know was that her tape wasn't the one that was released but her face was added to another alongside his. It was all part of the plan until she felt out of the radar.
Aiden, on the other hand, couldn't believe how much she had changed. He felt his heart stop when she glared at them with different emotions swirling through her eyes.
The most prominent ones were rage and hate!
Who would criticize her, though?
If only his brother hadn't…
His thoughts trailed off as he looked at Damon who was wallowing up in guilt. He couldn't condemn him too…all these were mistakes of their father which had rubbed off on everyone in bad ways.
Damon wasn't the only one in the wrong too. He had played a part which was also unforgivable…if only she knew the reason.
While Aiden drove back to the place they had lodged in for the time being, Damon laid down with his face covered as the past slipped in.
He recalled that just as Aiden had left the room, he counted five minutes before slipping in…her scent had enveloped his nose, provoking his wolf to protest against his plans.
There was no going back…not now. He was doing it all for them.
After shutting the door behind him, she gasped as she turned to face him, causing her hands to loosen around the towel.
In delight, his eyes twinkled as her towel slipped off her body before dropping to the ground.
He perceived that giving her a chance to speak would cause his plans to go array, so he dropped the camera and without granting her a chance to talk, he had pulled her back to his lips.
After watching her for days, he had longed to know how she tasted and as her lips touched his…he knew there was no going back.
He recalled the feel of her breasts against his palms, how she had shivered in delight when his lips found her wanting neck.
The uncertainty in her eyes made him want to stop, but he had to do it…so he thought.
“Open up baby and let me fill you up for this may be the last time…” he relived saying as his heart ached in pain.
That night, Damon LOST HIS VIRGINITY while betraying her.
The next he had heard was that her scent had gotten absorbed in the river closest to the pack, and it broke him.
Until the seer has announced she was alive and well, while holding the key to their survival.
Tracking her, he alongside Aiden, had seen her at the movies with that man who reeked of danger.
His wolf spiraled out of control and today seeing her shut the door and cry behind that door.
All he just wanted was to pin her to the wall and do things to her that would make her forget it all.
He was pulled back to the present by Aiden, who had today parked the car in front of their temporary residence. “Are we going to talk about the children?”.
“Don't think about it, it ain't his…those kids are mine!”
Aubrey woke up hours later to see herself on the bed, the last she had remembered was falling asleep on the floor with her kids around her.
“Hi” she croaked, causing Hayden to smile at her before giving her water.
“How long?” she asked him as she stirred to see the triplets laying down beside her.
“A crying Jay had called me pleading that I come home, and they told me about the bad men who made you cry to unconsciousness. "
Aubrey gulped as guilt suddenly filled her up. The shame of having lied to him about her past filled her up.
He deserved to know the truth. Maybe not about her identity, but about what had happened.
“Is there something you'd like to share?”
Unable to hold herself, she broke down in tears and told him about her past, starting from her relationship with Aiden and how he must have planned with his brother that she had just found out about to chase her out of town.
Nothing could justify why I had pretended to forget, but she told him that he made her feel safe, so she stayed.
When she was done, Hayden was left with a motionless face which drove her to wonder if he knew she was lying all these while.
“Aubrey, you seem to underestimate how much I feel for you” He held her before sharing with her he would not let her go through any of that again.
Till date she was still confused as to how she came back to life but a few months after Hayden took her in, she had walked up to her.
As she remembered the predatory look they had sported, a fresh stream of tears flowed down.
Just as Alicia had picked, she sobbed, “They found me”.
Author's POV “Are you okay?” Alicia asked, my already sobbing figure. “No! I'm not, how could I possibly be when their re entrance is a threat to my everyday life, to my kids too”? Alicia let her voice out her feelings before saying, “I know how you feel and the number of thoughts going through your mind, but I just returned because I haven't been feeling strong” “Could we possibly talk tomorrow?” “If you don't want them seeing me, then you could possibly come over so we could talk about how we'd move forward”, She added. Guilt flooded Aubrey's heart as she realized that it's been long since she had checked up on her, Alicia was there alongside Layla and Hayden but only in the shadows. They had both felt that if Alicia had approached her then Hayden would have asked to know about her, to which Aubrey wouldn't have any explanation for…after all, he believed that she had lost her memory. “You could come around tomorrow, Alicia” Aubrey said quietly. “Isn’t Hayden around?” She a
Aubrey's POV I laid in Hayden's arms as we watched alongside the kids a movie which was our normal Sunday afternoon routine. Most at time, it was just I and the kids as Hayden was mostly out of town…whenever his absence afcceye my daily routine I can’t help but feel like we have already taken over his life. It's been three years since our first meeting and two years and a few months since I had broken whatever had but still he never left my side. My excuse back then was that he was too good for me and I was scared of the I tenacity of what we had shared…stupid but he agreed to the breakup but refused letting me go. My wolf stirred angrily at my thoughts, I didn't blame her though…I was yet to have coknectd with her when Aiden ans his look a like thought it wise to use me as a pawn. Hayden squeezed my shoulders softly before pulling me into his warmth causing me to smile. He was really too good for me…too good to be true. There were times where I couldn't help but note how scary
Author's POV Everything was moving too fast and he knew he had to act fast. He had known for the longest of times that she hadn't lost her memory and was okay with it. Aubrey didn't know, but he had been long aware of the exact moment the two men had started looking for her…he had swayed them off trail for the longest of times. What he didn't expect was for the appearance of these men to affect Aubrey the way it did, he had listened to her tears that night and held back from being the comfort that she needed. Last time she had broken up with him from being too much but this time he would rather not be just her boyfriend…he wanted to marry her, and he had waited long enough to propose…he just needed the right time, and it never came. Until now… Patience was the key like it was said, but the reappearance of these men was going to ruin his place in Aubrey's life. He knew way more than Aubrey thought he did. His nonchalance has been the cost of his fiancé's death, and he wasn't g
Aubrey's POVI felt deep down it was going to lead to this one day, but for the first time in a long while, I was speechless. My decision here was going to change a lot. I realized, and that was probably what Layla was talking about.“I know you are contemplating…” he began, pulling me out of my misery. My wolf hated this, and I didn't blame her. We weren't programmed to be with others apart from our mates.Even though they had hurt us…we still felt the bond tug against my decision.“I would be a liar if I claimed it's okay if you say no, I would rather not guilt-trip you into deciding but from the first time I had met my eyes on you, I realized what I wanted”. I wish I knew what I wanted too, I thought to myself, with my eyes still glued to him.“Watching you unconscious that day with a zeal to live changed my life in ways you didn't know how,” he continued.“I never told you this, but I had gone that far in the woods to end my life. I had it all: fame, power, money, connection, but I
Aiden’s POV “Damon, wait, I want to talk to you,” I said walking swiftly to Damon who had a very cold countenance on his face. His countenance seemed unwelcoming but I ignored it. “What?” He snapped impatiently. “I just want to discuss something with you, it’s not that serious but I just felt I should let you know about the decision I want to make,” I said and made a slight pause. There was nothing cheerful about the countenance he had plastered on his face. I wondered what caused it because I didn’t remember doing anything to offend him. I just didn’t want it to seem like I left without saying anything, I just felt he deserved to know about my plans even if they were already decided. But he didn’t seem to be interested in what I had to say. His attitude and aura and retorting and I found it annoying. “Do you have something to say or not?” He snapped, snapping me back to reality. “What’s the attitude for?” I just said I want to talk to you so why’re you acting like we have an

Author’s POVHayden glared at them in disgust at the position they were in and his mind taunted him that indeed Aubrey didn’t feel anything for him but was rather using him to make them jealous.Standing behind the hall, caring less for how weird it was to be caught in that position, he tried listening on their conversation but gritted his teeth in anger as he couldn’t hear what they were saying hut he wasn’t a fool not to see the emotions swirling in the man’s eyes.Whoever this guy from the past was, it was obvious that he still felt something for his oblivious fiancée. The fire in his eyes was too obvious that he cowered in fear as he wondered who this guy was. There was power seeping out through them. Aubrey’s POV It took me a lot to get Hayden to be in the same room as me. I wanted to know how he would feel about coming to the Werewolf world with me. I wouldn’t see him until later because he didn’t want to go to the werewolf world. He helped convince the triplets to come because they listened to him, and it wasn’t hard for him to convince them that it was the right thing to do. However, I didn’t know if I could persuade him to accompany them. It would be different for him to live in such a place, but I was here for him. I wouldn’t let any harm fall upon him; our lives would be perfect with him here. I could see the clear picture, but I didn’t know if he wanted to come. I didn’t want to bring it up as a critical discussion because I didn’t want to force it. I didn’t want him to do what he didn’t want just because of me. He already did me a lot by convincing the triplets to return to the Werewolf world, which was a big deal. “Why’s wrong? Why aren’t you saying anything?” He inqu
Mark’s POV“Utter woke nonsense! I will not support this foolishness and I want to warn all of you here to desist from raising this issue with our Alpha!” I slammed my fist on the table, making the men sitting around it flinch. They were making no sense with this idea of theirs and I wasn’t going to let it stand. I’d been quite silent on pack matters because I’d been busy with several things but after clearing my schedule to be present here today, everything felt foreign, much to my disgust.“You’re overreacting, Mark. There’s nothing foolish about this decision and you know it.” Elder John said, wagging his finger in my face. “Humor me, John. Tell me why you think this decision that you’ve all decided to go with isn’t a stupid one. I’ll wait for you to give me one credible reason.” I said, leaning into my chair and waiting for him to speak. “The only reason you’re against this idea is because of the rift your daughter has with the person in question. If it were to be anyone else, y
Aiden’s POVI may not like Hayden but at that point, we needed every available wolf or man, in his case. I shared a nod with Damon and he backed down from being aggressive with Hayden. “You’ll listen to me at all times. Do not do anything without my permission, do you understand me, Hayden?” I asked. “Yes,” Hayden nodded. That was all I needed as we all hurried out of the room and rushed downstairs. “Is everyone ready to leave?” I asked Damon as I made my way into the car, held open by one of the guards. “Yes, our best fighters are ready and waiting for your command, Aiden,” Damon answered as he joined me in the car. Hayden decided to join a couple of my wolves at the back of the truck and I urged them to keep an eye on him. I hit the roof of the car twice and the engine roared to life, the driver stepped on the accelerator and the car raced out of the parking lot. My fears hadn’t toned down yet but for the first time, I was optimistic about finding Aubrey and bringing her ho
Aiden’s POV I got into my car and stepped on the accelerator as hard as I could. Aiden’s POVIt had been confirmed. Aubrey was officially declared missing and the news threw the pack into disarray as everyone wondered who could be behind this kidnapping.I’d been asking questions on how this could’ve happened and I finally had a lead. I sat behind the screen, waiting for the suspect as he walked across the street without any care in the world. I wondered how he had gotten past the security at the front door. Sam's Kitchen was one of the best food restaurants in the pack and it was exclusively for the rich and successful. A meal here cost more than what some people earned in a month and I had dinner here anytime I needed to put in a night shift at the office. From my observation, men like him weren't welcomed here, it was bad for business. And knowing how strict the employees were, there was no way he would have gotten past the security guards. Except, if he had gotten in through the back door.Someone had tipped him off about where I would be. There was no need t
Hayden’s POVI wasn’t on the best terms with Aubrey right now but I still cared about her because we’d been through a lot together and I knew that once we left this hellish place, we were going to come back to what we once were. It’s been 24 hours since I saw her last and I knew that she was fond of locking herself in the laboratory for days to remain focused on her desire to find a cure but I’d managed to hear Aiden and Damon discussing Aubrey’s success in creating a vaccine that can mutate the virus. It wasn’t the cure they hoped she’d create but the vaccine would go a long way in ensuring that people in the pack don’t fall sick and lose their lives in the process altogether. I’d just come out of her son’s room. They were extremely worried and albeit very upset with her, she’d promised to spend the whole day with them and she was nowhere to be found. Aubrey was a lot of things but one thing I could swear on my life that she wouldn’t do was break her promise to her sons, she loved
Aubrey’s POVMy mind was racing with different possibilities about who could be behind my kidnap. I’d crossed Ellie off my list so there had to be someone else behind this. My head was pounding, I could feel the migraine threatening to split my skull open.Suddenly, it hit me. There was only reason why I would be kept here and if there was anyone who could’ve engineered this whole thing, it was Aiden and his twin, Damon. I felt betrayed and hurt. They’d said they wanted me to leave of my own volition and they went behind my back to do this to me. I looked around the room. It was made of metal and it had a horrible smell. The man had been nice enough to remove the blindfold and the gag before leaving me here. The door opened and I turned around to see the man that left me here walking towards me with a menacing look on his face. “Did he put you up to this?” I asked fearfully as I scurried away. The man remained silent as he walked towards me. I took a close look at him as he app
Mark’s POVI drummed my fingers on the table as I waited for the call to come in. This was going to be the call that would change everything and tilt the balance in my favor. Aiden had openly disrespected me and he had forgotten how much I helped him when he wanted to assume control of the pack. I spared no expenses and no wolf under my employ during the internal war that lasted for months before we were victorious. I willingly let him get married to my daughter after he promised to treat me in the same manner as I’ve done since she was born and as soon as Aubrey came back into the pack, Ellie was treated as trash. She was now being gossiped and ridiculed by everyone in the pack—and by extension, I was also being dragged in the mud as well. My phone rang and glanced at the caller ID before picking up the call. “She’s been spotted.” A voice said. I nodded. “Is everyone in position? We have only one chance to make this work and I don’t want it to be botched or else, I’m going to l
Aubrey’s POVI decided to make my way back to the laboratory to produce more vaccines that would be sufficient for the entire pack before leaving the pack. I was still sad about the whole episode and I didn’t see the car tailing us at first. “We’re being followed, ma’am.” My driver, Mr. Gerald said, forcing me to break out of my train of thought. “What did you say?” I asked.“Look behind, ma’am.” I did as he instructed and that was when I saw it. The black car, a sleek and powerful machine accelerated towards us, darting past the unsuspecting drivers, leaving a number of them startled as the car drove past them. “Hold on, ma’am.” Mr. Gerald said, gripping the steering with his white knuckles, as his face squeezed with determination focused on the road ahead. He stepped down hard on the accelerator, the engine roaring to life as he weaved through the cars ahead, eager to outrun the predator chasing them. The chase entered a whole new dimension as they raced into the Ss, both d
