Chapter 4: The Weight of Fate
Lillias’s POV
The night was heavy with the quiet tension of a thousand unsaid things. I stood by the window of my chambers in the MacCrae Keep, watching the moon cast its silver glow across the sprawling forest. The wind carried the scent of pine and damp earth, but it was the faint trace of something else—something new—that tugged at my senses.
I knew he was out there.
My wolf, Scarlett, had sensed him too. The moment he had crossed into our territory, the bond had vibrated deep within me, a sharp tug that I couldn’t ignore. It was as if something within me recognized him, even though I had never seen him before.
“Why now?” I whispered, my voice almost lost in the quiet of the room.
Scarlett growled low in my mind, a rumble of agreement. He’s close, Lillias. We feel it, don’t we?
I nodded, though the question had already been answered. It wasn’t just my wolf that sensed him—it was something deeper. Something that tied us together, across the distance. A connection I couldn’t explain. A bond I wasn’t ready for.
I had heard whispers of an Alpha—one who had left his pack under mysterious circumstances. An outcast, they called him. The stories painted him as a rogue, someone who had betrayed his own, who carried blood on his hands. They said he was dangerous. But there was something in my heart, something raw and unspoken, that told me there was more to this man than what the rumors had claimed.
And now, here he was. My mate.
I turned from the window, walking slowly toward the center of the room, where my reflection stared back at me from the polished surface of the floor. My pale skin, the deep violet of my eyes, the sharp lines of my features—all of it seemed like a mask, a carefully crafted image for the world to see. The princess, the heir to the MacCrae legacy, standing on the precipice of a future that was not her own.
The weight of my duty pressed down on me, as it always did. The burden of being the chosen one, the daughter of the Alpha, the one who would carry the pack’s legacy forward. The expectations were unyielding, suffocating even. I had been raised to rule, to uphold our traditions, to marry for power and alliance.
And yet, here I was, standing at the edge of something that defied everything I had ever known. A mate—someone who could change everything.
But he’s an outcast, I reminded myself, my chest tightening. The rumors say he’s dangerous.
Scarlett whimpered in my mind, a soft but insistent sound that filled my senses. He is ours, Lillias. Don’t deny it. The bond is too strong.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. The bond was real. The pull was undeniable. But how could I reconcile the woman I was supposed to be with the woman my heart was beginning to crave?
I had always believed that my path was laid out before me. I was destined to marry another, someone who would be a strong match for our pack. A mate who would complement my strengths, who would stand by my side in the eyes of the MacCrae elders and the other packs. Someone who would help solidify our place in the world.
But the moment my eyes had caught that flash of dark hair in the distance—when my wolf had first growled in response to his presence—I knew that the path I had envisioned for myself had just shattered.
I paced the room, my thoughts a whirlwind. I didn’t know what to do. How could I choose between my duty to my pack and the call of my own heart?
What if he is the one I’ve been waiting for? Scarlett whispered, her voice filled with both excitement and trepidation. What if we’re meant to be together, Lillias?
I stopped in my tracks, my breath catching in my throat. Could it really be that simple? Could I leave behind everything I had been raised to be, everything my father and the pack expected of me, for a man I barely knew? A man whose past was shrouded in darkness?
I closed my eyes, letting the bond grow stronger, letting it guide me. There was a pull, yes—but it wasn’t just physical. There was something more. A recognition deep within me. A piece of my soul that seemed to know him, even from afar.
But if I follow him, will I lose myself? I asked quietly, the words slipping out before I could stop them.
Scarlett didn’t hesitate. You will never lose yourself, Lillias. We are strong. And together, we can create something new.
My breath steadied, the swirling doubts in my mind momentarily quieted by the certainty in Scarlett’s words. I had always been taught that my worth was tied to my title, to my bloodline. That my destiny was already written in stone. But was it really?
I couldn’t deny that the bond between Silas and me was real. It pulsed with energy, with history, with something that felt older than time itself. The Moon Goddess had chosen us—together.
For the first time in my life, I realized that I might have a choice. I didn’t have to follow the path that had been laid out for me. I didn’t have to be a puppet to the traditions of my pack.
I could choose a new path.
But it wouldn’t be easy.
My father’s voice echoed in my mind, warning me of the consequences. The pack’s future, my duty, the alliances I had spent my life cultivating—they were all at risk.
But I deserve a life of my own, I thought firmly. I deserve to be more than just a title, a bargaining chip.
And with that, the decision began to solidify in my heart.
I didn’t know what the future would hold, or what my bond with Silas would mean. But I knew one thing for sure: I couldn’t ignore the call of fate.
I was already tied to him.
And I would follow wherever it led.
Chapter 5: The MeetingLillias’s POVThe night seemed endless, stretching out like a tapestry of shadows and uncertainty. The moon hung low in the sky, its pale light spilling through the tall windows of my chamber, bathing the room in a soft, ethereal glow. But all I could focus on was the strange pull that had settled deep in my chest. It was a feeling I couldn’t ignore, no matter how much I tried to push it aside. The bond was there—undeniable, insistent, and pulling me toward him.Silas.His name echoed through my thoughts like a whisper on the wind. He was out there—somewhere in the vast expanse of the forest, waiting. The very thought of him stirred something within me, something both exhilarating and terrifying. A part of me longed to go to him, to embrace whatever fate had in store for us. But another part of me, the part shaped by years of duty and expectation, hesitated. What am I doing? I thought, my fingers curling around the fabric of my gown.Scarlett, my wolf, growled so
Chapter 6: The Path ForwardSilas’s POVThe moment her hand touched mine, the bond between us surged like a tidal wave, sweeping away the doubts, the fears, and the regrets I had carried for so long. Lillias. The name echoed in my mind, but it felt different now. Not just a name. Not just a title. She was more. She was mine.I held her gaze, the weight of the moment pressing down on me, yet somehow, I felt lighter. The tension that had knotted in my chest, the walls I had built around myself, all seemed to crumble in an instant. And in their place was a singular, undeniable truth: She is my mate. But as the realization settled in, a cold weight began to creep into my chest. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Not like this. Not with the shadows of my past looming over me. I wasn’t worthy of her.Her violet eyes searched mine, filled with questions, with curiosity, and—if I wasn’t imagining it—a trace of uncertainty. She had felt the pull too. I saw it in the way she held my gaze, in the wa
Chapter 7: The Alpha’s FuryAlpha Callum’s POVThe news reached me just after dawn, carried by a young scout whose face was pale and tight with fear. He knelt before me in the great hall, his words spilling out in a hurried whisper, and I had to force myself to stay still, my hands gripping the arms of my chair to keep from reacting too quickly.Lillias had gone into the forest. Alone. For a moment, the room seemed to tilt, the weight of his words settling over me like a stone in my chest. My daughter—the future of the MacCrae pack—had defied my orders, stepping out into the night without protection, without explanation. And worse still, I already knew why.The bond.I had felt its presence the moment it awakened in her, a subtle ripple in the air that only those attuned to the will of the Moon Goddess could sense. I had tried to ignore it, to push it aside as a fleeting possibility, a distraction she would overcome. But now, there was no denying it. Lillias had found her mate—and the
Chapter 8: A Daughter’s DefianceLillias’s POVThe moment I spoke, the clearing seemed to hold its breath. My father’s face was a mask of barely contained fury, his powerful frame tense as he stood among the warriors he had brought to confront Silas. And Silas—though calm on the surface, I could feel his tension through the bond, his wolf ready to spring into action at the slightest provocation. But this wasn’t about them. This was about me.I stepped forward, placing myself squarely between the two most stubborn men I had ever known. The weight of their expectations, their judgments, and their anger pressed down on me like a storm, but I didn’t falter.“This is my life,” I said, my voice steady, though my heart raced. “And I won’t let either of you make this decision for me.”My father’s eyes narrowed, his expression hardening. “You don’t understand what you’re saying, Lillias,” he said, his tone sharp. “Do you know who this man is? What he’s done?”“I know enough,” I replied, lifting
Chapter 9: A Past That HauntsSilas’s POVAs the warriors faded into the trees, led by Lillias’s father, I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. My wolf, Rafe, still prowled beneath the surface, agitated and tense, his instincts screaming at me to prepare for a fight that had, for now, been avoided.I glanced at Lillias. She was breathtaking, standing in the golden light of the clearing with her arms crossed, her deep violet eyes still blazing with defiance. Her pale skin glowed in the morning sun, and her dark auburn hair fell in soft waves around her shoulders. She looked every bit the princess she was—regal, commanding, and undeniably fierce. But beneath her composed exterior, I could sense the vulnerability she tried so hard to hide. Through the bond, I could feel the rapid beat of her heart, the tremor of unease that lingered despite her bold words.“I’m sorry you had to face that,” I said softly, stepping closer. She turned to me, her expression softening as she met m
Chapter 10: The Beast WithinRafes POV I felt him falter before he did.Silas, my human half, was strong, but his heart was weighed down by chains of regret and fear. I’d carried him through battles, through blood and loss, and still, he doubted himself. Still, he questioned his worth. It infuriated me.The Moon Goddess didn’t bond wolves like us to someone like Lillias by accident. She was strong, fierce, a light in the darkness we had wandered in for so long. But Silas couldn’t see it. He didn’t understand the power of what we’d been given—or the danger in denying it.I prowled beneath the surface, my claws itching to tear into something—or someone. My ears twitched at the sound of her voice, steady and firm as she faced her father in the clearing. Lillias was no ordinary wolf. She was fire wrapped in moonlight, and the mere thought of her set my instincts ablaze.Yet here we stood, caught in a web of uncertainty. Silas hesitated because of his past, his fear that he wasn’t enough f
Chapter 11: The Crimson WatcherScarlett’s POVLillias was fire in her human form, but when I took control, we became something far more primal. I was her wolf, her counterpart, and her protector. I was her instincts, her ferocity, and her will to survive. And right now, every fiber of my being screamed for me to take over. The rogue standing across from us wasn’t just a threat; he was a sickness. The kind of wolf that carried darkness wherever he went. His scent reached me before he even stepped into the clearing, thick and acrid, like burnt wood mixed with spoiled meat. It clung to the air, an omen of decay and violence. When he finally emerged from the shadows, I took him in fully. His wolf was lean, almost gaunt, but it was a mistake to think that made him weak. His muscles were wiry and taut, like a coiled spring waiting to strike. His fur was a muddy brown streaked with black, a patchwork of uneven tones that matched the scars crisscrossing his body. The most prominent scar cut a
Lillias POV continued.. Did I really just do that? They both felt the pain I felt in my abdomen, I wonder what that was about. I look at Silas, who’s sniffing the air, then Rich starts doing the same, they both smirk at each other. “Luna, do you think you might be with pup?” Rich asks me, I sit there and think, nope, not a chance, I’ve known Silas a day, I haven’t even had my heat yet. Silas looks at me with a blank expression on his face, I can feel his shock, hope and excitement as he gets off the couch and comes over to me. sniffing my stomach. Could I be? Could we already be expecting? I feel a cold wave wash over me, I know this feeling. Looking at Silas, he felt the same, where as Rich is oblivious. “Rich mate, I think me and your Luna need to talk”, Rich nods and gets up, smiles at us and leaves the lounge. “You feel them too?” I ask Silas, he nods. The dust particles in the air stop moving, the sounds of outside subside, and in front of us app

Chapter 30: The Weight of LossLillias’s POVThe battlefield was silent now, save for the occasional groan of the injured and the whisper of the wind through the broken trees. The ground was soaked with blood, the once-vibrant greens and browns of the forest now painted in crimson. The air was thick with the metallic tang of death, a scent I would never forget. The rogues were gone—those who hadn’t fallen had fled into the night, but victory brought no relief. My body ached with exhaustion, and my mind felt numb as I surveyed the aftermath. Warriors moved among the dead and wounded, some helping comrades to their feet, others retrieving the fallen. And then there was him.My father. He lay where he had fallen, his strong, proud body now still, lifeless. I knelt beside him, my knees sinking into the blood-soaked ground as my trembling hands reached out to touch his face. It was still warm, though his skin was pale, his features peaceful.“Father,” I whispered, my voice barely audible.
Chapter 29: The Last Stand Alpha Callum’s POV The air was thick with the scent of smoke and blood as I stood on the battlefield, my mind racing, my body burning from the brutal fight. My pack was scattered around me, fighting with every ounce of strength they had left. The rogues were relentless, overwhelming in their numbers, and despite our best efforts, we were losing ground. The chaos of battle swirled around me—shouting warriors, the clash of metal, and the earth beneath me shaking with each strike. My wolves—my pack—had fought valiantly, and I had led them with all my strength. But now, I was failing. My vision blurred, and I staggered, feeling the burn of exhaustion creeping through me. A rogue Alpha’s blade had found its mark, and blood poured from the wound in my side, the world around me spinning. I collapsed to my knees, the ground hard beneath me. My strength was waning, and with it, my grip on reality. I could feel my body growing cold, each breath more labored than th
Chapter 28: The Price of VictoryLillias’ POVThe battlefield had fallen silent, save for the labored breaths of the wounded and the soft whimpers of the survivors. It was a fragile peace, one that had been earned through bloodshed. The scent of blood hung thick in the air, mingling with the burnt earth and the faint traces of smoke still curling up from the remnants of destroyed homes. Victory had come at a great cost. The rogue Alpha, once so powerful and defiant, lay crumpled at my feet, his body broken and lifeless. His pack was scattered, decimated by the ferocity of our fight. The moment the last of them had fallen, the battlefield shifted into a painful quiet. Wolves on both sides were either dead or wounded, and now, we were left to pick up the pieces.I stood over the rogue Alpha, my claws still extended, my breath coming in short, sharp gasps. There was power in me—more than I had ever imagined—but the victory felt empty. My pack, the wolves who had followed me into battle,
Chapter 27: The Tides of Battle Lillias’ POV The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood, the cries of battle ringing in my ears as the night seemed to fracture around us. The ground beneath my feet shook with the pounding of paws, the deafening growls of wolves, and the harsh crack of claws against bone. The rogue pack had descended like a storm, surging into our territory, attacking with an intensity I hadn’t anticipated. The sky above was a faint silvery blue, but the moon, high and full, cast its eerie light over the chaos below, reflecting off the blood that pooled in the dirt. I wasn’t yet Alpha. That responsibility still lay with my father, Alpha Callum. But tonight, the weight of that mantle pressed down on me, the gravity of it palpable in every breath I took. The warriors fought valiantly, but I could see the strain in their eyes. They were tired—exhausted from hours of battle—and the rogues just kept coming, relentless in their pursuit. The women, children, an

Chapter 26: Clash of the Wolves Lillias’ POV The chaos erupted in a heartbeat. The stillness of the forest was shattered by the sound of snapping branches and howls that filled the air like thunder. My heart pounded in my chest as Scarlett surged forward, her powerful instincts pulling me into motion. My muscles screamed as they shifted, but I held steady, the weight of my role as Alpha pressing firmly on my shoulders. We had been waiting for this moment, but nothing could have truly prepared me for the intensity of the battle that had just begun. I could hear the rogues crashing through the woods, their steps quick and frantic, as though they, too, could feel the storm building. The first of them emerged into the clearing, their eyes glowing with predatory hunger. Their disheveled, filthy fur and twisted snarls were a stark contrast to the controlled, deadly presence of our pack. They were a wild, unrelenting force, driven only by the thirst for destruction. Silas was already the
Chapter 25: The Storm Breaks Lillias’ POV The night had grown heavier, the air thick with the scent of rain and impending danger. I stood at the edge of the pack grounds, my eyes scanning the distance. The stillness of the woods seemed unnatural, too quiet, as though the earth itself was waiting for something terrible to unfold. My senses were sharp, heightened by the power of the Alpha aura pulsing inside me. Scarlett, my wolf, paced restlessly within, her growls a low hum of anticipation. She could feel it too—something was coming, something darker than we had ever faced before. “Lillias.” Silas’s voice pulled me from my thoughts. He was standing behind me, his figure a comforting presence in the midst of the growing storm. His hand, warm and firm, rested on the small of my back as he stepped closer. His scent—wood and earth, comforting and familiar—filled my senses, calming the tension that had coiled in my chest. “The rogues are closing in,” he murmured, his voice laced with ur
Chapter 24: The Gathering StormRogue Leader’s POVThe night deepened around us as we gathered in the clearing, the wolves that followed me encircling the fire. The air was sharp with anticipation, the cold biting at my skin. I could feel the electricity in the atmosphere—the world seemed to hold its breath. This night would mark the beginning of something that could change the balance of power forever. The rogues, my loyal followers, were eager. They had tasted blood before, and now they were hungry for more.I could sense the unease among my warriors, though. Something had shifted in the wind, and even the most ruthless among them felt the weight of it. It was as though the earth itself was warning us. I shook the thought away. Warnings were for the weak.I stood at the center of the group, my eyes scanning each face—some were hardened, their eyes filled with the scars of battles long past. Others were younger, eager for their first taste of real conflict. They had all come to me, de
