I’ll keep my mouth shut for now, I don’t have an exact reason for doing so it was just a gut feeling that ran through my body.

I knew. I was less then capable, always the outcast. Incapable of performing any spells that was over an easy difficulty. No matter how much I had trained, or worked tirelessly to change that my magic power wouldn’t grow.

We remained in silence for the rest of the ride. From the witches village to the Palace of the Wolves was only half a day.

When we arrived I was in awe. The werewolves had made a name for themselves, and a beautiful dwelling. Their city was large, hidden behind walls that towered over the tallest being, the shape of their capital was a circle mimicking the full moon when they are at their peak. In the center of the city, a large palace, bigger than anything I had ever seen before, its build seemed to be made out of moonstone. Its color was white, and yet in some places it seemed to be giving off a shining blue light almost as if it was mimicking the moon.

As we passed through the city, people were staring, sniffing the air and frowning. Some were even pointing, an action that made me feel uneasy. The oaf beside me didn’t seem to mind, just kept his eyes peeled for his surroundings.

We arrived at the castles gates with in two hours, the city was beyond large, but it also didn’t help that people were crowding the streets. The gates were the same as the city’s entrance, large thick iron gates, there were multiple guards standing post, each of them wearing different variations of the same metal bulky armor and holding weapons. My eyes looked over them once again, the guards were unfazed their expressionless faces putting me on the edge even more.

I gripped the seat of the wagon as it halted. The oaf turned to me. “We are here, and we will walk from this point.” He pointed forward, my eyes unwillingly followed.

The entrance to the palace was extravagant, the door way was covered with an arrange of flowers and small moonstones placed throughout them. The doors were taller than the gate, and they looked heavy yet were pushed open letting me peer into the castle itself. It was a bare room, columns held up the ceiling, and across the floor leading to a door across from the entrance was a silver rug.

The oaf made his way out of the wagon. “Leave your luggage the servants will get them.”

I bit my lip and climbed out of the wagon. I couldn’t help but to wonder what was in store for me. With no other choice I followed the oaf through the corridor. The guards didn’t even give a hint of reaction at me, I was surprised with their control over their emotions.

As we made it to the door, he turned to me with a serious expression. “You are about to meet the King, best behavior or I will make you regret it witch.” He growled. His face was contorted into a serious expression. I nodded. He pushed open the doors, and as the light from the ceiling blinded me I couldn’t help hear gasps.

The oaf led the way, and as my eyes adjusted to the light I could see a court of people in the throne room, all of them staring at me in blatant shock. I felt ashamed, maybe they knew that I was weak, was that why they were so shocked? Most of the people were dressed in fancy clothes, not daring to disgrace themselves in front of the Alpha King.

That’s when I saw him. Across the room, sitting on the throne with one of his legs crossed over the other, his elbow resting on the marble arm, his chin resting on his closed fist. He was intimidating, even if I wasn’t a werewolf I felt like I had to listen to anything he said. He was muscled, and tall, I could tell that his body took up most of the tall marble throne. His hair was grey, a mark signifying he was chosen by the moon goddess, it over shadowed his eyes keeping them hidden from view. His lips were thin, and closed as if he was waiting for me to walk closer. He was handsome, beautiful even, it sent a shiver down my spine just looking at him. He was wearing a button down white shirt that seemed strained against his muscles, and tight black pants, with a long floor length grey coat over his shoulders.

I kept moving forward until the oaf in front of me stopped and kneeled bowing his head. “My King, I present you with the witch you asked for.”

He was dignified, and not all what I had imagined. He wasn’t equipped with ears and a tail, no he was a man, a strong buff man that existed to put people in their place.

I saw a small smirk tug at the corner of the Alpha Kings lips, he slightly opened his mouth and the words that came out were as if they were calling for respect and obedience. “Interesting.” Just a single word that went through my entire body, I quickly bowed my head, not wanting to look up at him anymore for fear I would turn to stone. “Do you know what you brought me Fin?” His words seemed to shake the entire castle, I felt like the aura he was radiating was messing with my perception of power. No one dared to speak without permission. “You may tell me.”

“My King this is simply the witch you asked for to break the curse.” Fin declared, his voice trembled as if he was afraid, which in his shoes I would be.

“All of you.” The King called out, his voice echoing through the chamber. “She is to be treated with respect.” Gasps of shock went throughout the room, while I stared at him in shock. “I have a feeling this witch is going to break my family’s curse.”

Curse? What were they talking about? Did I have the power to do that? I looked down at my hands, I wasn’t capable of such great feats. I was about to protest but the Alpha King spoke once more.

I didn’t want all the disappointment and rage to be pointed at me when I couldn’t deliver.

“Tell me, what’s your name?” He waited for my answer, unmoving from his spot.

“Ares.” I tried to state my name clear and loudly not wanting to show him any for fear, it might have me executed. I bowed my head once more, not daring to stare.

Kael. That was a nice name, and obviously respected. Finding a little confidence, I used my hands to grip at the fabric of my robes. “Before I accept, may I know the curse?” My head was still looking down, but I could hear the silence in the room following after my voice. It was unsettling and bone chilling. King Kael spoke again. “I suppose the witches wouldn’t know since after my family took one, no of them has returned.” He sounded almost amused for a second before continuing. “I will do you the honor of telling you the entire story, if you will follow me?” I nodded my head, not daring to look up from the floor. I tilted my head to the side. “No magic energy? Why have a witch then? What’s the curse?” “I will show you.” He pressed his hands against the table and pushed himself up and walked over to a glass case I didn’t notice. Inside there was a book, spread open to a certain page with blood smeared across of it. He opened the latch and slide the glass open, he carefully lifted the generational old book and brought it over to me. Sitting it down with such care. “This is her spell book, my ancestor stole it from her.” My eyes widened. Stealing a witch’s spell book was the same as stealing her power, her family’s power, they would be worthless. Something felt oddly familiar about that idea. The pages were ancient, old and yellowed with tears. Something about it was strange, like it was radiating magical energy, but it wasn’t normal energy more like a magnified radiation of it. “Only a witch can read a spell book, but I’m afraid that none of the witches my family enlisted have been able

“That’s not what I meant.” The vampire chuckled. “Think about it though, I will be back in one month with some friends, if you haven’t lifted the curse by then.” He’s giving us a time limit? Only one month to do something that witches couldn’t do over the course of years? Even if Kael said the curse didn’t necessarily need magic it didn’t mean that I was going to be able to break it. I was doomed. But I didn’t want the vampires to win, no their kind had taken too much from my own and from the werewolves.I turned to Kael. Should I tell him about the vision? Especially if the vampires are trying to hunt Nyx down? But what did that vision mean? Was I somehow tied to Nyx and didn’t know it? The curse she created would have drained her bloodlines magic considerably. The vampire said that they had already found the reincarnation. Was it me? Was I the way she would come back?
