Zoe

I had the most frightful ride I had ever had in my life as the car drove along the route to the south.

My heart thudded and tugged painfully at the thought of the possibility of James being….

No!! Negative thoughts aside! He’s still alive! The mate bond had not broken.

Whose pack link was that for then? Someone in the pack?

‘Are you just in denial or you don’t really know?’ Chloe asked sharply. She was irritated because wolf sprits get connected to other members in a pack. Especially since she’s an Alpha wolf.

‘The disconnection was painful so it was someone of high rank,' she added weakly and tears streamed down my cheeks.

Jericho….

My wolf Chloe was right. Deep down, I knew who may have passed. It was just hard to accept that a promising young man was no more.

Why was death so unfair…. taking away good people while villains like the rogue king and his minions were left alive, terrorizing innocents.

James At the end of the day, life has to carry on. Two weeks had passed since Jericho passed and things were almost turning back to normal. Almost. There was definitely something wrong with me. My body to be exact. I was having strange episodes. Sometimes I would get overly irritable and snap, growling at everyone apart from my mate. My hearing was enhanced and I would accidentally crash things with my hand if I unknowingly exert pressure. Was I going crazy? I don’t know but the full moon was nearing and I heard stories that crazy people are at their worst at that time. There was only one thing that I loved about these weird changes. My heightened sex drive. It was like I could only survive on sex. I wanted it all the time and if I doubted Zoe when she said she could take me on, I don’t now. She was always flexible and ready to do it anywhere, anytime. We once had a quickie in the basement last week when the IT team had gone for lunch and damn, it was mind blowing. The feelin

Lewis Leaving home wasn’t easy. I was going to miss the way the sun rose from the east and hang high up in the air, the way the leaves on trees rustled as the night breeze moved past. Who am I kidding? I will miss her…. But being out here would enable me to think about her without any restraint. I was allowed to fantasize about her until I finally moved on right? No harm caused there.. just a few tissues would be damaged in the process and a few cold showers here and there. On my first day of work at the Carter’s group, I found that the previous assistant had resigned so a new one would be reporting that same day. I familiarized myself around the huge CEO’s office. It was luxurious with a huge mahogany table, and a sitting area with black leather sofas for visitors or brief meetings. On the left side was a huge book self with a lot of books. The room had floor to ceiling windows giving a lovely view of the world below. Sitting down on the very comfortable chair, I began to go th

Zoe The days were drawing closer to the suggested date to carry out our plan to lure the rogue king out. I was mentally sharpening my claws, I would be the one to end that fucker. We couldn’t even eat, sleep or fuck in peace because of him and his futile threats. The thought of digging my hand into his bad odor radiating chest gave me an adrenaline rush. Oh… he was so dead. “Babe, we’ve already talked about this. I’m not letting you anywhere near him so stop making those silly plans in your head,” James said from behind me and I rolled my eyes. It was just before dawn and I lay cocooned in his embrace. Since he could read my thoughts, I woke up earlier so that I could think quietly about how I would end the rogue king’s life. Alas, I didn’t expect him to be awake. “Baby.. I was just fantasizing about how it would actually feel like if I was the one to end him that’s all,” I lied and secretly vowed to follow him into battle.

James I had been feeling edgy and extremely irritated since I woke up today. Although I had mixed feelings about letting Zoe leave the pack territory, I had to let her go after she suggested being discreet. I did not want to restrict her movements in the name of protecting her to the point of suffocation. But since no one saw her going out, I figured there would be no problem. I suspected the traitor was one of the IT guys so I was keeping a strict eye on their movements. ‘Alpha, we found something,' David said through the mind-link and I immediately became alert. ‘Go on,' I said. ‘I found out about a man named Duncan. The white mist pack’s records say he’s deceased but his face has shown up on sites were rogue attacks have been reported to have occurred,' David reported and my heart beat a little faster. So the Duncan man was alive and there’s a possibility he’s the rogue king… ‘There’s more, Duncan had a cousi

Zoe “Fuck you!” I hissed and spat on his face. Duncan was momentarily stunned as he probably did not anticipate my reaction. Did he think I was still the girl who cowered in fear at the sight of him? “I wasn’t in a rush to do it but since you’ve suggested it yourself, I can’t say no, can I?” He said and stood up, lifting his hand towards his face as he wiped my spit with his finger and put it in his mouth. Closing his eyes, he groaned as he licked my saliva off his finger. “Fuck! You taste divine. I can’t wait to taste you.. the whole lot of you,” he whispered and when he opened his eyes, they had darkened with a lecherous gaze. I wrinkled my nose and almost threw up at the sight of his lewd actions. So he had survived that night.. all this while we were trying to find the rogue king, so it turned out to be Duncan. He was a good tracker and able to hide himself well that’s why it was almost impossible to find him.

James The moment I received the rogue king’s message, I started off after informing everyone about our plan. I would head to the location, which is a forest next to the enchanted forest that Zoe was taken to the last time she was kidnapped, then the warriors would follow and scour the woods. If the rogue king was smart, he wouldn’t place all the hostages in one place. So my father, Lisa and some warriors would search the forest whilst I go to meet the rogue king. Lisa wasn’t a warrior but her mate was captured so naturally, she couldn’t stay back home and worry all day. It was 6:40pm when I reached the forest. Tyler was very agitated, it seemed like the moon was calling out to him. He kept growling and clawing in my mind, fighting for control. But I wasn’t going to let an edgy beast out at this critical moment when our cupcake needed us. I ran through the forest pack and felt some burning sensations on my skin. It wasn’t my pai

Zoe I was terrified. I was very sure that this was it. That Duncan had succeeded despite people saying the good guys always win. But why did Duncan win? Why? All he did is harm people and covet things that didn’t belong to him. Why did things go his way? I took a deep breath and closed my eyes in resignation as I tilted my head to the side, exposing my neck. Duncan buried his head in the crook of my neck, inhaling lecherously and I almost gagged. His hot breath fanned my neck but all I felt was terror and repulsion. The moment his teeth grazed my neck and he was about to mark me, I felt the heaviness on the chains that bound me become lighter and I immediately broke out of them. Duncan was too busy basking in my scent that he didn’t realize I had broken free and I wasn’t going to give him a chance to do so. Elongating my claws, I swiftly cut through his neck and his head was ripped off before he could even know what was

Bang! “Hey my cuties, let’s go downstairs your father is working don’t disturb him,” Lisa’s voice echoed from the hallway. “No!! We want papa!!” My 2 year old son Asher’s voice boomed and I could imagine him stomping his feet with a pout on his mouth. “Yes, we want papa!!” Three other childish voices screamed in unison. Bang! Bang! Bang! “Papa…” Asher’s voice cracked and I knew he was about to cry. ‘Let them in,' I mind-linked Lisa as I sighed. The door creaked open and four little munchkins with a face that looked like mine ran into the office with their short tiny legs. They had worn cute adorable teletubbie’s onesies. Zoe had given birth to two girls and one boy. We named the girls Carinna and Sabrina Carter while our son was named Asher Carter, they would get their middle names after getting their wolves at the age of

  • The Alpha's rejection   89~ Epilogue

THREE YEARS LATER Lewis It was funny how time flies. One minute you’re a child and the next, you’re an adult who’s responsible for yourself and other people. In my case, I was a mate, a beta and a brother and a soon-to-be father. That’s right, Ariana and I had our wedding 4 months ago and now she was carrying our pup. A boy. She was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen and on that day, when she said I do, it was one of the best days of my life that I’ll cherish forever. The last three years have been nothing but blissful. Life was great. We would have problems here and there but nothing that was not solvable. After all, this is real life and not everything can be perfect. Alpha James and Zoe left on a honeymoon tour a month ago and left their pups in our care. They were living with us at our mini-mansion that I built for Ariana and I and boy, they were a handful. We had a nanny for all four of them. Matteo, Alpha James’ baby brother thought he was his brother’s son

  • The Alpha's rejection   88~ Proposal

Ariana I’ve been living in the blackmist pack for three months now and I can attest that it’s much better than the human town. I liked it here. At first, when I learnt that werewolves exist I thought they would be primitive and living like cavemen but they surprised me by being more modern than ordinary humans. The pack was designed like a small town. It had shopping malls, residential homes and a large packhouse where the majority of the wolves stayed. Mostly unmated ones stayed there. Despite the modern setup, the flora and fauna were not tampered with. We were still surrounded by a big forest. On full moon nights, we would go for pack runs which were led by the Alpha and Luna. And then most times, I would go on a love run with Lewis, my mate who had been nothing but lovely ever since I settled here. The only thing I missed from the human town was my aunt Judy. “Can you get me another dress? Where’s the red one I chose earlier? I look good in red.” Zoe asked one of the o

Lewis I ditched the car and ran to the orphanage since it would be faster that way. The Alpha had already begun running back to the pack after I called him to tell him his Luna had gone into labor. Taking off my clothes, I shifted and carried them in my mouth then I began to run as fast as I could. From the way Ariana kept poking into my mind every second, I knew she was freaking out. ‘Dr. Anthony prepare the Luna’s VIP ward she’s in labor.’ I mind-linked the doctor at the pack’s hospital. ‘What? That’s too soon. I’ll work on it right away.’ I continued to rush forward with Wesley in the lead. Being a beta wolf, he wanted to protect his Alpha’s pups. ‘Lewis! Hurry! I can see a head… oh my God! I don’t know what to do!’ Ariana’s shriek echoed in my head. ‘Calm down baby… You will scare Zoe. Take a few deep breaths and guide her… tell her to push as hard as she can. If the baby stays like that it will suffocate.’ ‘But I’ve never done this before.’ She responded, sounding sc

Lewis I felt like I was in paradise. At the break of dawn, I opened my eyes and found Ariana sleeping peacefully in my arms with a smile on her face. We were happy. And I hoped it remained so for the rest of our lives. I stroked her curly hair and leaned down, placing a kiss on her forehead. Ariana stirred, scrunching her eyebrows then inched closer to me, burying her face deeper into my chest. Having her back made me whole once again. I wouldn’t have survived without her and to think she had watched me die and had to experience the agony of the bond breaking filled me with intense guilt. That was not something I wanted her to go through. Ever. She had even gone as far as stabbing her heart to perform a dangerous spell to save me. That was the extent of her love for me. I could see it. I could feel it. A love so pure and true. What more can I ask for? I loved her just as much as she loved me and with each passing day that we are together, our bond grows stronger. All

Ariana I stared into Lewis’ eyes to check if he was telling the truth. Not that I didn’t believe him. It’s just that with our current situation, even I could come up with any reason that could help us be able to be together. He had just told me about how my mother and his father were childhood friends and that day, he was actually going to save her due to her call for help but unfortunately, he arrived late. “I have proof, baby… I can’t lie to you. You know that.” Lewis said with a pained expression. I cupped his face with my palms and pecked his lips. “I believe you. Even if you made something up I would always believe you.” I said and I meant it. “But I didn’t make it up my love. My father has recordings that you can listen to. I have them on my phone.” He said and took out his phone before I could stop him. We were seated on a two-seater couch in the small sitting room in the cabin after two more rounds of banging each other. I listened to the recording and when I heard

Lewis “Alpha, I’m leaving. I’ll only come back when I find my mate.” Alpha James raised his brow. “Are you sure? You’re going on a wild goose chase man. She could be anywhere.” Anger surged within me and I growled. “Are you saying I should give up on my mate? No way man… she’s mine and I’ll find her.” “How? By running around aimlessly like a headless chicken? Do you even have a clue where she is? If she doesn’t want to be found, do you think you can find her that easily?” I curled my hand, clenching it into a fist. He was right. I couldn’t just go searching without having a clue about Ariana’s whereabouts but what other choice do I have? Wait for her to calm down and come back on her own? What if she never comes back? What then? Being without her would kill me and my wolf. “I have to find her.” I said in a low voice, sounding defeated. “Come on man. We are wolves. We work smart, not harder. What’s the fastest way of finding someone in our supernatural world without using

Ariana I steeled my heart and chanted the teleporting spell while avoiding making eye contact with Lewis. I just couldn’t bring myself to look into his eyes. If I did, I was afraid I would decide to stay with him. But that was out of the question. Not after what I had found out. I had to leave for my parent's sake. I wouldn’t be able to face them knowing I had stayed with the people who took their life. Lewis just stood there, staring at me. And from my peripheral vision, I could see he was crying. My chest constricted seeing him like that. It hurt more that I had to leave him this way. I was punishing him for his father’s mistakes. It didn’t take long for the spell to take effect. As I was slowly getting sucked in, I snuck a look at Lewis. I wanted to see his enchanting face for one last time. I wanted to have it embedded in my mind forever. But the look of despair on his face crushed my heart. Now I would be stuck with his sad expression for the rest of my life. I shouldn’

  • The Alpha's rejection   82~ An explanation

Lewis I don’t know how long I had been staring at the spot where Ariana had vanished. My heart just couldn’t accept the fact that she was gone. She had left and this time I’m afraid, it’s forever. With the bad blood between us, there’s no way we could be together. For most of my life, I had never regretted any choices I made. Bad or good. Because I believed if you’re hesitant about something, you would still end up regretting whatever decision you make in the end. You would always ask yourself. What if? Could things have been different? I never wanted this type of uncertainty in my life so I was always decisive. But now, looking back, I deeply regretted bringing my mate to the pack. Perhaps I should have stayed with Ariana in the human town. I would be a CEO and she would do the work she loved. We would go back home together after a busy day at work, cook together, make love and do the same the next day just like normal people do. Most times people take advantage of thi
