Thank you for reading
Ariana "So where exactly is home?" I asked Lewis as we drove to work. His sister and her boyfriend had left to go home but they hadn't mentioned a place so I was curious. "It's farther from here… about a 9-10 hours drive. I'll take you there soon. Then you can meet the rest of my family." I heard him say. One of his hands was entwined with mine, resting on my lap, while he steered the car with the other. "Ok.. but what's the place called?" I probed. "Um… it's… um… in the woods. We live very far from town and that's where you will be living too, with me." I furrowed my brows, They lived in the woods? Were they farmers or they wanted privacy? And what did he mean by I'll be living there too? "Why would we live with your parents? Isn't the town fine? I don't think I can manage to live in the woods." I blurted out my thoughts and I saw his jaw tick. Did he really think I would leave my home? "Ariana… let's not be quick to make decisions. We can talk about it later." Lewis said
Lewis I clenched my fists, the smell of blood hitting my nose when I pierced my palms with my claws. My heart ached, watching Ariana run away in tears. I wanted to go after her but I let her be. It wasn't time to tell her the truth yet. What she said confirmed my fears. She was so used to this place and it was selfish of me to want to take her away from the life she's always known. But would I give up on her because of that? Never. She was mine and I would move heaven and earth to be by her side. Heck, I would even give up my beta title just to be with her. But I will try to convince her… I swore an oath to protect my people as their beta and that's not something I can run away from. Going up to my office, I texted Ariana just to assure her that I wasn't abandoning her. 'Will mate refuse to go to the pack with us?' Wesley asked in my mind. I could sense the worry in his tone. For me, it was okay but as a beta wolf, he loved being in a pack. 'Don't worry… she's just scared of
I was in denial. There’s no way Ariana would leave me just like that. She said she didn’t want to leave this place. Something must have happened. But as time passed, I was beginning to lose hope. I drove around the City, walking around, searching like a fool but she was nowhere to be seen. I even went to the fucker’s house and her former friend who boiled in jealousy after finding out Jace had come for Ariana. Wesley had gone quiet after I refused his request to lead the search. The only way my wolf can be in control is in his true form and I didn’t think the City authorities would appreciate a large wolf moving around the City. I groaned, my chest constricting as I looked at the time. 9 pm. I was on the verge of giving up. Was it worth it to look for her if she really chose her ex? I can’t force her to come with me if she doesn’t want to, right? My phone started ringing as I was rounding a corner, heading outside the City. I wanted to check if I could scent her leaving the
Ariana I woke up feeling weak, wondering when I had fallen asleep. The bed wasn’t as comfortable as it usually is, making me frown. I looked around, realization dawning upon me when I saw the different room I was in. My heart thumped loudly. Where was I? “... Lora the Alpha instructed me to take her to the pack. This was not what we planned.” My ears perked up, hearing voices outside. Jace? Was he the one who brought me here? Why? Who was he talking to? I wondered. “Oh forget about that old man. I didn’t plan on following his plan anyway. I’ll have her all to myself.” A woman’s voice reached my ears. “But she doesn’t even know what she is…” “Oh she will…that’s why I told you to bring her here.” I frowned, putting the pieces together as I recalled how I might have found myself here. ~Flashback hours prior~ I rushed out of the company and took a cab to the cafe that Jace was at, hoping he hadn’t done anything stupid. The moment I walked through the cafe doors, I was sudd
I have been here for a week. Every night, Jace would drag me outside for Lora to perform her spells on me, making me drink the bitter stuff she called potions. Each time she would get angry when she didn't get what she wanted. It seemed she was a witch and was trying to extract some power from me to make herself powerful. I was shocked that there were people who practiced witchcraft, thought it was just a myth. What was more baffling was they thought I was a witch with special powers. She said something like a person who could tell the future could conquer the world. But they got the wrong person. I had no such powers. I thought she would have known that by now since whatever she was doing wasn't working. The past few days have been hard. I would sleep off the day, trying to escape from reality, hoping when I woke up I would be back in Lewis’s arms. Gosh, I missed him and I wondered if he was looking for me or he had given up. Did he really believe that I had eloped with Jace? I
“Ariana.” Someone was calling me. It was a female. The voice was so soothing and I couldn’t help but smile to myself. “Ariana, child wake up.” My eyes flew open. I knew that voice. “Mama?” I called out, my heart racing as I looked around but I saw nothing. Where was she? “Baby girl… you can’t see me. I’m not really here. I just begged to talk to you briefly when I saw your spirit trying to cross over.” My mother said and tears streamed down my face. I wish I could see her. “I miss you mama.” My voice croaked. “I know my love. I miss you too. Ariana, don’t give up. You will understand everything once you read the letter, you’ve found him sweetheart. Your soulmate, he’s on his way to you. Now wake up… read my letter and destroy the darkness that looms in the Kim family…..” “What? Mama? I don’t understand!” I screamed out, panicking when her voice faded towards the end. “I love you….” Her voice echoed in my head and I ran around, calling out to her desperately. I was suddenl
Lewis I rushed to the airport with Tyson. Ariana's phone was found in the restroom. I wanted to see if we could get more information or ask around if they saw anything. "I pulled some strings. We can get the list of people who had actually boarded the plane and their profiles too." Tyson said as we entered the building and I gave a curt nod. I would do anything to find her and I just hope I'm not too late. We went to the office of an officer and I showed him Ariana's picture. "Can you scan this face and see if the person boarded the plane a week ago?" It was rude to just go straight to the point but Tyson had already talked to him prior. We didn't have time for pleasantries. "Um… sure sir." The man said and began to work. I paced around the room anxiously. It would be my fault if anything happened to her. I should have searched for her. Guilt welled up in me as I thought about my mate. After about 30 minutes, the man was done and he shook his head. "No Sir… our system can't
Ariana I was officially dick-whipped. If there was such a term. Heck, Lewis and I hadn't reached the last phase of our relationship yet but a single word from him would make me melt in his arms. I couldn't stay mad at him. I kind of understood why he kept it a secret. Who would believe someone who just went up to them and claimed to be a werewolf? If Jace didn't freak me out in advance, I would have probably lost my mind seeing Lewis shift from a wolf to a human. I couldn't believe Jace is a werewolf. He didn't look like one. I mean, look at Lewis. That man was smoking! His beauty was otherworldly… his blue eyes were like two deep pools, I could drown in them willingly. Hot water poured on me as I took a shower, washing off the blood on my body. We had returned to our home an hour ago. Lewis wanted to help me bath but I declined, I needed time alone to think. Everything that happened in the past week had drained the life out of me. I sighed, wondering when Jace and the crazy witch
Hi lovely readers. For those that have read this book till the end, thank you so much. I appreciate your support. For those still reading it, I would like to notify you that I'll be merging this book with book one, The Alpha's Rejection. You can still continue reading the book by checking the chapter title you left it at. And if you do happen to read the Alpha's Rejection when you've already read this one, do not read past chapter 50 because that would be the beginning of the Beta's Turmoil. Thank you so much for reading my work. I hope I keep bringing out content that would be worth your time. With love, Natie.
THREE YEARS LATER Lewis It was funny how time flies. One minute you’re a child and the next, you’re an adult who’s responsible for yourself and other people. In my case, I was a mate, a beta and a brother and a soon-to-be father. That’s right, Ariana and I had our wedding 4 months ago and now she was carrying our pup. A boy. She was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen and on that day, when she said I do, it was one of the best days of my life that I’ll cherish forever. The last three years have been nothing but blissful. Life was great. We would have problems here and there but nothing that was not solvable. After all, this is real life and not everything can be perfect. Alpha James and Zoe left on a honeymoon tour a month ago and left their pups in our care. They were living with us at our mini-mansion that I built for Ariana and I and boy, they were a handful. We had a nanny for all four of them. Matteo, Alpha James’ baby brother thought he was his brother’s son
Ariana I’ve been living in the blackmist pack for three months now and I can attest that it’s much better than the human town. I liked it here. At first, when I learnt that werewolves exist I thought they would be primitive and living like cavemen but they surprised me by being more modern than ordinary humans. The pack was designed like a small town. It had shopping malls, residential homes and a large packhouse where the majority of the wolves stayed. Mostly unmated ones stayed there. Despite the modern setup, the flora and fauna were not tampered with. We were still surrounded by a big forest. On full moon nights, we would go for pack runs which were led by the Alpha and Luna. And then most times, I would go on a love run with Lewis, my mate who had been nothing but lovely ever since I settled here. The only thing I missed from the human town was my aunt Judy. “Can you get me another dress? Where’s the red one I chose earlier? I look good in red.” Zoe asked one of the o
Lewis I ditched the car and ran to the orphanage since it would be faster that way. The Alpha had already begun running back to the pack after I called him to tell him his Luna had gone into labor. Taking off my clothes, I shifted and carried them in my mouth then I began to run as fast as I could. From the way Ariana kept poking into my mind every second, I knew she was freaking out. ‘Dr. Anthony prepare the Luna’s VIP ward she’s in labor.’ I mind-linked the doctor at the pack’s hospital. ‘What? That’s too soon. I’ll work on it right away.’ I continued to rush forward with Wesley in the lead. Being a beta wolf, he wanted to protect his Alpha’s pups. ‘Lewis! Hurry! I can see a head… oh my God! I don’t know what to do!’ Ariana’s shriek echoed in my head. ‘Calm down baby… You will scare Zoe. Take a few deep breaths and guide her… tell her to push as hard as she can. If the baby stays like that it will suffocate.’ ‘But I’ve never done this before.’ She responded, sounding sc
Lewis I felt like I was in paradise. At the break of dawn, I opened my eyes and found Ariana sleeping peacefully in my arms with a smile on her face. We were happy. And I hoped it remained so for the rest of our lives. I stroked her curly hair and leaned down, placing a kiss on her forehead. Ariana stirred, scrunching her eyebrows then inched closer to me, burying her face deeper into my chest. Having her back made me whole once again. I wouldn’t have survived without her and to think she had watched me die and had to experience the agony of the bond breaking filled me with intense guilt. That was not something I wanted her to go through. Ever. She had even gone as far as stabbing her heart to perform a dangerous spell to save me. That was the extent of her love for me. I could see it. I could feel it. A love so pure and true. What more can I ask for? I loved her just as much as she loved me and with each passing day that we are together, our bond grows stronger. All
Ariana I stared into Lewis’ eyes to check if he was telling the truth. Not that I didn’t believe him. It’s just that with our current situation, even I could come up with any reason that could help us be able to be together. He had just told me about how my mother and his father were childhood friends and that day, he was actually going to save her due to her call for help but unfortunately, he arrived late. “I have proof, baby… I can’t lie to you. You know that.” Lewis said with a pained expression. I cupped his face with my palms and pecked his lips. “I believe you. Even if you made something up I would always believe you.” I said and I meant it. “But I didn’t make it up my love. My father has recordings that you can listen to. I have them on my phone.” He said and took out his phone before I could stop him. We were seated on a two-seater couch in the small sitting room in the cabin after two more rounds of banging each other. I listened to the recording and when I heard
Lewis “Alpha, I’m leaving. I’ll only come back when I find my mate.” Alpha James raised his brow. “Are you sure? You’re going on a wild goose chase man. She could be anywhere.” Anger surged within me and I growled. “Are you saying I should give up on my mate? No way man… she’s mine and I’ll find her.” “How? By running around aimlessly like a headless chicken? Do you even have a clue where she is? If she doesn’t want to be found, do you think you can find her that easily?” I curled my hand, clenching it into a fist. He was right. I couldn’t just go searching without having a clue about Ariana’s whereabouts but what other choice do I have? Wait for her to calm down and come back on her own? What if she never comes back? What then? Being without her would kill me and my wolf. “I have to find her.” I said in a low voice, sounding defeated. “Come on man. We are wolves. We work smart, not harder. What’s the fastest way of finding someone in our supernatural world without using
Ariana I steeled my heart and chanted the teleporting spell while avoiding making eye contact with Lewis. I just couldn’t bring myself to look into his eyes. If I did, I was afraid I would decide to stay with him. But that was out of the question. Not after what I had found out. I had to leave for my parent's sake. I wouldn’t be able to face them knowing I had stayed with the people who took their life. Lewis just stood there, staring at me. And from my peripheral vision, I could see he was crying. My chest constricted seeing him like that. It hurt more that I had to leave him this way. I was punishing him for his father’s mistakes. It didn’t take long for the spell to take effect. As I was slowly getting sucked in, I snuck a look at Lewis. I wanted to see his enchanting face for one last time. I wanted to have it embedded in my mind forever. But the look of despair on his face crushed my heart. Now I would be stuck with his sad expression for the rest of my life. I shouldn’
Lewis I don’t know how long I had been staring at the spot where Ariana had vanished. My heart just couldn’t accept the fact that she was gone. She had left and this time I’m afraid, it’s forever. With the bad blood between us, there’s no way we could be together. For most of my life, I had never regretted any choices I made. Bad or good. Because I believed if you’re hesitant about something, you would still end up regretting whatever decision you make in the end. You would always ask yourself. What if? Could things have been different? I never wanted this type of uncertainty in my life so I was always decisive. But now, looking back, I deeply regretted bringing my mate to the pack. Perhaps I should have stayed with Ariana in the human town. I would be a CEO and she would do the work she loved. We would go back home together after a busy day at work, cook together, make love and do the same the next day just like normal people do. Most times people take advantage of thi
