The headmistress walked in, “come on Jamie, time to go” she said while pointing to the doorway.
“But he said I needed to wait here” I responded, not moving an inch.
The head mistress looked annoyed and walked towards me, she gripped my arm and lifted my op on my feet, “move you little brat” she said while pushing me in front of her.
I walked out of the room. Waiting for her to follow. She walked down the stairs and I followed. We walked towards the basement. Great, I have to sleep in the basement. She opened the basement door, “you can sleep down there with the rest. There are some new clothes for tomorrow.”
I nodded and walked downstairs. Everyone was already there. I saw Liza and ran over to her.
She hugged me tightly, “how was your day?” she asked.
“Weird but fine and yours?” I replied.
“I needed to clean like everything, this man has some sort of OCD. The only thing I did all day was clean” I laughed at what she said. I know how much she hates it.
We both took some clothes and walked over to the shower area. I quickly washed my hair and scrubbed my whole body. I don’t know what they smelled, but no way I’m smelling bad tomorrow. I dried myself off and noticed some bruises on my body.
“what are those” Liza asked while looking at my waist, “It looks like hands.” she said, confused. Her eyes looked shocked, “you said it was fine, what did he do?”
“It’s nothing, you know I bruise easily. He didn’t mean to hurt me”
Liza didn’t look convinced. But left and went to bed. I started blow-drying my hair, hoping it would be less messy tomorrow. When I got into bed, Liza was already asleep. It didn’t take long for me to fall asleep either. With this weird day I had.
I woke up to a screaming headmistress. Yelling that we should hurry up. I put on the clothes that she put out for us. What is it with dresses? I walked over to the shower area, I brushed my teeth and fixed my hair. It was a lot smoother than yesterday, thankfully.
We were all assigned the same alpha, like yesterday. Except for me.
“You can go back to the orphanage Jamie. You can help out there” she said with a grin.
I nodded and walked back upstairs to the front door, making my way back to the orphanage. I was walking on the driveway until Carson stopped me.
“where do you think you’re going?” he asked me with a cocked eyebrow.
“The headmistress told me I was no longer needed”
“Are you sure?”
“What do you mean? I don’t have a say in where I go” I said, annoyed.
He lifted his hands up “okay if you say so. See you later than”
He turned around and walked back to the packhouse. What doesn’t he understand when I say I’m leaving? He’s not seeing me later. I saw him walking back. I sighed and continued my way to the orphanage. I was almost at the end of the driveway when I heard a loud growl.
The same shiver I felt yesterday, ran down my spine. I heard a lot of yelling coming from the packhouse. When I saw this massive wolf running out of the packhouse, I never saw a wolf that big. I felt my own wolf stirring in my mind. I haven’t shifted yet, because she hides from me. I don’t know why, I’m the only one who hasn’t shifted. If felt weird to feel my wolf for the first time. But at the same time, I felt relieved I had one.
The huge black wolf started running towards me, growling and howling. Like he was calling someone. I didn’t know if I should stand still or run away. I debated for too long when the wolf jumped me. Making me fall on my back. I could feel my dress rip. He towered over me, he looked furious. But his eyes gave him away.
“Ares?” I whispered.
He started sniffing my neck. I took his wolfs head and pulled him out of my neck.
“Again with the sniffing.”
He growled at me. I trusted he wouldn’t hurt me, but I still felt scared. I felt my wolf pressing forward, my sight started to change. All the colors looked more vivid. I felt a surge of strength running through me. I saw Ares notice. He jumped off of me, pacing back and forth. I got up and looked at my bruises. They were all gone.
I walked over to Ares, gripping his head. Hugging him closely, “thank you, I thought she abandoned me”
He shifted back in my arms. I didn’t let him go. He lifted me up, I pressed myself against his naked body. He walked back to the packhouse, with me in his arms. I kept my head on his neck. I felt everyone’s eyes on me. Or maybe it was because of Ares’s god-like naked body.
“told you” I heard Carson whisper.
Ares took me back to his room, placing me on his bed. His body was perfect. I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t perfect. I couldn’t stop my eyes from wondering, lingering down. Before I could get a glimpse, he turned around and walked over to the bathroom. I heard him filling the bath.
“Maybe we should join him” I didn’t recognize the voice. I looked around in the room.
“Who’s there?”
“you’re not that bright, are you?” I heard a small growl, ‘’I’m Rhys, I’m your wolf.’’
“Wait, what, really? What took you so long?” I replied to her.
“You weren’t ready. Not my fault”
I felt her moving back to the back of my mind, “where are you going?” I asked her
“I think you have other things to do than talk to yourself” she replied.
I looked up at the bathroom door. I walked over and opened the door, I saw Ares already in the tub. He looked at me over his shoulder, but didn't say anything. I walked in and closed the door behind me. I took the already ripped dress off and my bra and panties. I walked over to the tub. Dipping my toe in.
I kept my eyes on Ares, but he didn’t move. I moved in next to him. Hoping he would say something. I saw his eyes flicker at his wolf.
“what is he saying?” I asked him.
He cocked his eyebrow at me.
“Sorry, what is he saying Alpha”
He let out a chuckle, “you don’t have to call me Alpha”
His eyes kept flickering back and forth. I placed myself in front of him. Moving in closer, resting my head on his chest. He let his arms fall around me. Holding me close. I curled up in his embrace. I felt safe in his arms, his warmth and scent soothed me.
The moment was broken by Carson.
“You really can't wait another day” he said disapproving, “Come on you, out” he gripped my arm, pulling me out of Ares embrace.
A vicious growl filled the room. Carson quickly released my arm, making me slide back in the bathtub. I saw them mind linking to each other.
Ares got up and stepped out of the bath. He gave one last glare before leaving the bathroom.
“We weren’t doing anything” I said, annoyed.
“Sure, you weren’t” Carson said with a disapproving tone.
"Come on get out. We need to go shopping," Carson said, annoyed. "Shopping?" I said, confused. "Do you have anything other than those stupid dresses? And I think we should get something for your birthday tomorrow." I gave him a death stare, "fine." "Are you going to leave the bathroom, or do you want to hold my hand?" I asked him. He gave me a small growl and left the bathroom. I walked out of the bathroom in the ripped dress. I saw some clothes on the bed. I walked over and grabbed them. I took the dress off, I didn’t even notice Carson was still in the room. He startled me. "F*ck why are you still here?" I placed the dress in front of me, covering myself. He moved closer, "it’s not like I haven’t seen it before." He gave me his devious smile. "Just wait outside," I said with an eye roll. A sigh left his lips before he walked out of the room. The shopping was kind of fun. We went to one of the big towns nearby. The shops we went to were way too expansive for me, but Carson
When I woke up, Ares was still asleep next to me. I felt my wolf stirring in my mind. I tried to reach her. This was the day I could find my mate. I never thought about it before, “stupid Carson,” I mumbled under my breath. I know the stories, how you recognize your mate instantly. I looked over at Ares hoping everything would fall into place, but nothing happened. I sighed in disappointment. With how he acted, I hoped I was his mate. I quietly got out of bed and got dressed. Maybe Carson is my mate, but then again. Why would Ares be like this? Why would he claim me as his own if I’m not his mate? I gave Ares one last look before I left his bedroom, hoping again for some sort of mate bond. I walked downstairs towards Carson’s bedroom. But was stopped by the head mistress. A small growl left my lips when she grabbed my arm. I saw I startled her with my growl. “Don’t you have that tone with me, missy,” she said disapproving, but with a hint of fear in her voice. Something I have neve
“But you are also mine. You have to be.” Ares followed quickly. He looked annoyed at Carson. My body started to itch because of the warmth, “can someone please open a window,” I said. Ares walked towards me, lifting me up in his embrace. I felt my body relax again, the warmth slowly settling down. “How do you recognize your mate?” I asked Ares. “Your wolf recognizes your mate instantly” Ares responded, keeping me in his tight embrace. “Hasn’t your wolf said anything?” Carson asked. I shook my head, “she’s been quiet.” I looked up to Ares, “does that mean I can choose, that it’s my decision?” I saw Ares’s eyes started to fill with anger “Yes, it is,” Carson said. “I’m not sharing,” Ares growled to Carson “It’s her choice, not yours,” Carson growled in return. “stop it! It’s my choice Ares. You can't make me,” I buried my face in his neck, inhaling his scent. I felt his heart beat slow down again. I heard my stomach rumble. I could heard Ares chuckle, “Hungry?” he asked. I l
I walked towards the edge of the forest behind the orphanage. I looked around, making sure I was alone before taking off my clothes. I was waiting for Rhys to take over, I was completely naked and nothing happened. ‘What are you waiting for,’ I said, annoyed at Rhys. I could hear her laugh before I could feel my bones breaking. I fell to the ground. I know the stories of the first shift. The pain you have to go through. I screamed out. My bones started to realign. My body covering in fur. My breathing was heavy, and my sight started to change. My hands were replaced by paws. The ground felt different. Everything felt different. It felt empowering being in this form. My fur had a gold shimmer running through it. I started running through the forest. I never felt freer than at that moment. The wind brushed through my fur. I had never been this far out before. I could hear water running. I tried following the sound. I gasped at the sight of this beautiful waterfall. I heard something
He looked at me with a smile, “do you really have to ask? I think you know by now how he is. Especially when it comes to you.” “I thought you mind linked him back.” Confusion was written all over my face. “I did, but he was still mad,” he said with a chuckle. “Did he hurt you this morning?’’ I asked him, concerned. “I believe he would never kill me, but he is still the god of war,” he said with an eye roll. “So, it’s true?” I asked. “It's not my place. You should really talk to him,” he said with a sigh. We walked inside. I wanted his touch. But he wouldn’t let me hold his hand. He was right, I shouldn’t have annoyed Ares this much. The entire packhouse looked like a mess. As if he tossed everything around. Carson pointed to the stairs. “Is there anywhere else than his bedroom I could talk to him?” I asked with an eye roll. I could hear Carson laugh at my comment. “He’s not as romantic as me,” he said with a wink. I made my way upstairs, and when I reached the top of the sta
I saw Carson running toward us, gripping Ares’s. I tried pushing Ares off me. Squirming underneath him. I felt his canines piercing my skin. The tingling sensation became stronger, running through my body like a fire that had awoken. When his canines pierced through my bone I felt my body go numb and weak. I saw Carson stepping back, while a tear ran down his cheek. Ares took my choice away. It was my decision, not his to make. Ares retrieved his canines and sealed the marking with his tongue, instantly healing it. He slowly moved off me. I knew he could feel my anger towards him. “I'm sorry, I had to do it,” he mumbled with regret. I pushed myself up, walking towards Ares and slapping him full in his face. “How could you? It was my choice. You knew what I wanted,” I said, trying to control my anger. A small growl left his lips, “I won’t share, you know that. You’re mine, only mine.” “I’m not yours, this mark doesn’t make you own me. It means nothing when it’s not done out of lov
Ares POV Maybe I shouldn’t have done what I did, but I need her to remember. She needs to see who we are to each other. With every life I lived, I lived in search of her, and every time I died alone. Waking up again in the same body, living the same life. I’ve seen everything, seen kingdoms rise and fall. But never my love. Until now. I won’t share her. I had to share her with her husband before. To be honest, without his knowledge. I chuckled at the thought. “He was never good enough for her,” my wolf, Gideon, said with a growl. “No, he wasn’t,” I mumbled. She will see that we are meant for each other. We are each other’s redemption. To get out of this life and be gods again. I never loved anyone else before or after her. And I never will. Nobody can compare to her. We are meant for each other. She always challenged me. Even now, before she knew who she was, of who I am to her. She never feared me, only loved me. Accepted every part of me. There was a loud knocking on my door. I
Jamie (Aphrodite) POV My whole body was aching as if I had been hit by a train. I felt myself slowly waking up. I could hear Ares calling for me. However, my throbbing heart made the sound of his voice hurt my ears. “Can you please be quiet,” I mumbled. He responded with a small growl. I tried opening my eyes, but the sun was hurting my eyes. I noticed we weren’t in the packhouse anymore. My eyes started adjusting to the light. Only then did I notice we were in the same car as the day I went shopping with Carson. I found the scent of Ares southing me, making the pain slowly subside. I was still mad at him for what he did. But with everything I saw, I understand why he did it. I noticed him staring at me. I laid back down, placing my head on his lap. “I’m not forgiving you, but I do understand.” I looked up, meeting his eyes. I felt the mate bond snap into place. I could hear my wolf Rhys screaming, MATE MATE MATE. I chuckled, I could feel how happy she was she could finally rec
Jamie POV Years had passed in the blink of an eye, and I was happier than ever. All the struggles we went through, were worth it in the end. I was immensely grateful, that Ares choose this life with us, instead of power. That he choose this mortal life, instead of moving back to the god's lands. “Not so fast, you two,” I yelled after Kaitlin and Nathanial, who seemed to be ignoring me while they increased their pace. I softly caressed my bump, enjoying the sight of my rascals. How could you love someone so much that it almost hurts, was more than I could ever wish for. “Happy birthday, love,” Ares whispered, wrapping his arms around me and resting his head on my shoulder, inhaling deeply. “Have I told you how much I love you?” He asked while his lips brushed over his mark, making a pleasurable shiver move through my body, awakening my core. “Hmm, maybe you should remind me,” I murmured. “Knock it off, you two,” Ripley’s voice snapped us out of our moment, and I couldn’t h
With hollowed cheeks, I let Carson gently trust inside my mouth. His pace was slow and deep, making my sexual frustration rise. I glanced up, and I almost came when I saw Caron’s parted lips and flushed cheeks. Fuck, he looks so delicious. I tried to pick up my pace, but the hold he had on me, made it impossible. There was no way I could hold back the orgasm that was crawling at the surface. I whimpered and moaned around Carson’s cock when Ares picked up his pace, attaching my sensitive clit until my body shattered, and my juices spilled out. I was a mess, riding the aftershocks of my orgasm, when Carson’s pulled himself out of me and gently brushed his thumb over my lips. “Perfect,” he said. I took a couple of deep breaths, trying to calm my body, but the moment of peace was quickly stopped when Ares claimed my lips, making sure I would taste myself on his tongue. Our position changed, without parting our lips. He lifted me in his arms, and I instantly wrapped my legs around his
Ares POV The moment Carson stepped inside, his eyes slowly wandered over my naked body. “Is this your plan? How is this going…” he stopped midsentence when he realized what the plan was. “How didn’t I come up with that sooner,” he mumbled more to himself than me. “Do you need help getting undressed?” I asked, pulling him back to the present. A small blush formed on his cheeks while he tauntingly slow started to remove his clothes. “We have to make sure she feels it right?” he asked with a hint of mischief in his eyes. Of course, this wasn’t going to be quick. I knew they were at it for hours to make sure I felt it when I wanted to kill Aegon. I groaned when he stood before me, naked. Who would have thought I would fall in love with another man? I closed the distance between us and brushed my fingers over his throat, while this need to choke him while fucking him senseless came into mind. My cock twitched because of the thought. I licked my lips before I pressed them on his
Ares POV “How much longer?” I roared for the millionth time. It has been two agonizing weeks. Jamie still hadn’t woken up, and the longer she stayed like this, the more I worried she would never wake up. “Alpha, I don’t know. The poison has left her system, and her wolf is fine. I don’t know why she won’t wake up,” her voice trembled with every word she spoke. “Isn’t there anything I can do?” I was desperate. This feeling was almost worse than the feeling I had when her soul was trapped in that world Hephaestus created. “You can try to reach her through the bond by pushing heightened emotions through it. Terrible fear, rage. As long as the emotion is strong enough, it could wake her up,” Matina said with care. I slowly nodded, and she left without another word. We hadn’t closed off our bond to Jamie, so she must feel our despair and fear. And seeing she wasn’t waking up, it wasn’t enough. “I know,” Gideon said, sounding smug. “Care to share?” There was a moment of silence whi
Carson POV I could feel myself becoming stronger with every passing second, but the pain remained. I knew it wasn’t my own that I felt. It was Jamie’s. My heart ached for her. All I wanted was to hold her in my arms. However, she only had eyes for our pups, and I can’t blame her. They looked so peaceful in her arms. As if nothing had happened. I softly brushed my finger over Nathaniel's cheek, letting the warmth of his skin seep into mine. “Do you want to hold him,” Jamie whispered. She didn’t have to say that twice. I picked up Nathaniel and let him rest against my chest. I hated that I was covered in blood, my own and Aegon’s. “Are you tired?” I asked Jamie when I noticed her eyes slowly closing. She only hummed in response before she fell asleep. I could feel her becoming weaker. The feeling alone made a tear stream down my face. Ares gently grabbed Kaitlin before he let Jamie rest against him. “We’re going to make it,” he whispered, but the fear in his eyes. The worry behi
Ares POV My breath hitched in the back of my throat when I saw what Jamie was about to do. I didn’t want her to drown in the darkness. She shouldn’t be the one that takes their lives. Aegon wasn’t strong enough to help Charlotte fight the command. He didn’t even respond to Jamie’s truthful words. He knew they made a mistake going down this path. A mistake that would cost both of their lives. “Jamie, let me do it,” I whispered when I stood beside her with our pups in my arms. “No, I made a promise, and I’m keeping myself to that,” she hissed while her eyes remained locked on Charlotte and Aegon. I didn’t know what she commanded next, but the change in the air told me enough. My eyes snapped to Charlotte, and before either of us knew what was about to happen, her claws formed on her free hand, and she pushed her claws through Aegon’s chest. Aegon cried out in agony while a stray tear moved down Charlotte’s cheek. Aegon had to release his grip on the hand she still had on her throa
Jamie POV Rage. All-consuming rage. My blood was boiling while my skin tightened. How dare she? It all happened in the blink of an eye; I was thrown against Carson while I felt something puncture my side. I coughed rapidly to get the air I desperately needed. The scent of my own blood surrounded me, and I knew I was injured. But I had to push forward. I pushed myself off Carson and let the same pull as before lead me to my pups. There was no escaping me at this point, and I would have back what was mine. I sprinted out of the room and headed into the forest. Before I even realized Ripley’s wolf running beside me. Ares and Carson’s concerned voices filled my mind, but still, I wouldn’t slow down my strides. “I need you to take out the witch. Otherwise, I can’t command Charlotte,” I told Ripley. Ripley lunged for Tara when Charlotte was about to step inside a car. Ares and Carson stood next to me before another breath could leave my lips. Tara screamed at the top of her lungs w
Ares POV The turmoil in my mind slowly settled when all I could feel was rage and this primal need to protect what is mine. We were hiding in the shadows outside of Charlotte's packhouse, waiting for her warriors to leave. Still, we would be outnumbered, but our odds were better with fifty of her warriors gone. “They are here,” Jamie mumbled. Only when my gaze met hers did I notice the glimmer that moved over her eyes. It wasn't the same as I saw her wolf press forward, but something else. I took her hand in mine and gave it a reassuring squeeze. One that we both needed. The soft rustling around us made me freeze on the spot until Carson’s scent wafted around me. “We can use the tunnel. It’s unguarded. It doesn’t seem she knows we were coming here,” Carson whispered. No one spoke another word when we turned around and let Carson lead us to the underground tunnel. The same we used when we ran away from Hephaestus We still had to choose which of Charlotte’s pack houses we shoul
Ares POVIt took us longer than I wanted, but the moment we stepped over the border, Jamie’s voice echoed inside my mind.“Did you find them?”I wanted to tell her that we did, but we only had a lead. “We are going to Litochoro.”Carson was in charge of gathering the warriors while I made my way to the packhouse. I was in desperate need of holding my mate in my arms and when I heard her voice inside my mind seconds ago, I knew she needed me too.I quickly shifted back and rushed inside. When my gaze met hers, a small smile formed on her lips. After I put some clothes on, I made my way to her and wrapped my arms around her small frame.“Are you okay?” I whispered while I held her close.“The poison is… I had some trouble with my sight, but now that you’re here, I’m fine,” she said with a small smile that did nothing for the pain that roamed through her eyes.I didn’t know what to say, but I’m glad that my presence helps her wolf fight the poison.“We are leaving in fifteen minutes. I’m
