LISA'S POV

"I don’t know how this whole thing happened, but she’s pathetic. I don’t know what lie she told you to make you believe she’s an angel, or whatever, to the point that you feel safe enough to kiss her cheek, much less eat from the same plate as her!" Astrid sneered, her voice dripping with venom.

“Astrid,” Ronan cautioned, his voice low, “whatever—”

“Whatever Astrid thinks is none of my business,” I interrupted, cutting him off before he could finish. I was done with him and Gemma trying to speak for me like I was deaf or incapable of standing up for myself. I have my own voice, and I can speak for myself just fine.

I turned to Sergei, who was seated comfortably on his father’s lap. "Hey, Sergei, can you go play with your brothers?" I asked him gently. Without a word, he nodded and hopped down from Ronan’s lap, running off without hesitation.
