For a brief moment, Eli went completely still. I felt the rise of his chest as he took a deep breath.

“I wish things were different too, Ivy,” Eli murmured after a beat. “But they are not and you are my…Luna.”

“I am your…friend too,” I said, inhaling his warm scent as sleep started to lull my brain.
