You too!”“What?!” He asks, not trying to hide his laugh.“You are not allowed to call me that, so knock it off.” I look out my window to hide my smirk. I don’t hate the title. I hate that Finn says it like it’s an insult.“You let Finn call you that.” My head whips over my left shoulder to make sure Finn is still sleeping.“Shh! I do not. He just doesn’t listen and it isn’t worth the fight.”“Sure, that’s what we’re gonna go with.”I smack his chest. “Since when are you so talkative? Don’t you normally just sit here all stoic and sh*t chauffeuring us around.”“I like to refer to it as defensive driving, ma’am. And, for your in, I

20 - FinnListening to Greta joke around with Grant should make me jealous. That was always the case with Amy. I hated every guy she talked to or smiled at. I never knew or trusted her motives. She would constantly check to see my reaction. After a while, I had nothing to give outwardly, but inside my wolf and I were dying. I don’t get any of that with these two in the front seat. They are friends and colleagues joking about nicknames they have been given. I have heard Kennedy call him Jeeves and he just smiles and lets her. It’s not for the same reaction I am looking for from Greta when I call her ma’am.She’s been quiet for a while, but snorting and huffing means she’s probably giving Ryker a run-down of what happened. She seems more relaxed thinking I am asleep and her voice wraps around me like silk without the harsh undertone she normally directs my way.“Bossman said meet him at the hospital. Kennedy is losing her mind over what happened to Finn and I want a sample of his
21 - Finn“No, I can’t. Please.” She whispers to me trying to squirm out of my hold.“Stop.” I pull her face back to mine. “Look at me.”She opens her eyes and immediately starts to scan. I haven’t pulled her out of the elevator yet, but there is something she doesn’t want to see down here.“Stop looking for an exit. Look at me.” I slide my hands up like blinders.“I can’t, FInn. Please…” She trails off, finally looking into my eyes. “Please.” It’s barely a whisper. She rarely uses my name and she never begs.“Talk to me. You laid with me for two days. You made sure I came out of that battle. Let me help you with this one. Talk. To. Me.” I can feel her chest heaving against mine.“I can’t be down here, not again. I don’t do underground.”“Tell me why.” I try to pull us out of the elevator, but she locks her hands around my wrists and digs her heels in.“No!” Her body is afraid. But her eyes are sharp and determined. Something happened and muscle memory is kicking in. I can’t imagine
22 - GretaI swore a long time ago that I would never relive those days ever again. Even Ryker doesn’t have the whole story. And now I have this massive guy using the mate bond against me. My wolf is ready to just spill her guts to this pretty boy and his wolf just for being so stubbornly sweet.“They can help us. They are already helping. This human is nothing like the rogues who took your pack.”“I know, I know. But it doesn’t make it easy. I haven’t talked about this in a long time. I don’t want the nightmares again. I just started sleeping well.”“You sleep better after you have been in close contact with him, you know that right? The last two days have been heaven.”I have to fight a growl at her. She’s not wrong, but I don’t want to admit I noticed the same thing. Even in the cave, he was able to wake me from a nightmare. No one has been able to do that, not even Ryker. It took seconds for me to recognize him. Normally those memories take hours to fade and I see shadows
23 - GretaI sit and stare at the door for a long while. There’s no sound on the other side. He’s not showering or anything, just waiting for me to leave. I should feel relieved. He told me to go and I wish I could make my body do just that, but I’m locked here in place, my wolf is willing him to come out. His wolf is blocking her and I can feel her heartbreak. Something’s changed and she’s hurting. Add it to the list of things for me to feel guilty about.I stand, frustrated, and take a deep breath of his lingering scent, then get an idea. I run my hands on the pillows and blankets. Anything soft in this room I touch. At the very least, maybe he will sleep okay tonight. I need to talk to Kennedy, this is something I don’t know how to navigate. I still don’t want a mate. It’s not fair to Finn that I am broken and can’t be fixed. I don’t like the idea of him hurting over it either._It has been weeks and FInn is nowhere in sight. I can feel him when he’s near, but he is avoiding m
24 - FinnI slide out of the SUV looking around. This feels like a trap, and yet none of the usual alarms are going off in my head. My wolf and I have established a decent radar for bad situations. Avoiding them is our top priority. I’m not sure what it is about Kennedy and Ryker, but I have not had one single instance of distrust with either of them the entire time we have been in the Dark Moon pack.“Greta! Finn!” I whip around to see Kennedy at the top of a ridiculously tall staircase. “Well, don’t just stand there, come on!” She waves us up excitedly. It’s almost strange to have someone excited to see me. Nan was it, as far as I can remember, other than the pups at Dark Moon. But, they are excited to see most people, so they don’t really count. I always have Sammy and some of the other guys. We fight side by side and hope each one makes it out alive. We have had to leave guys behind and move forward, move on to the next location. I couldn’t tell you where we laid those people to
25 - FinnDeal. That’s all we were told, to deal. I am now stuck here, for who knows how long with her. I can’t deal witht this right now, I have to get out of here.“I’m going to go look around.” I drop my bag and scurry to the door.“Finn, wait..”I don’t hear anything else she says as I spring like a coward down the hall, down the stairs, past a confused Kennedy and out to the massive patio. I’m panting, my lungs won’t take in air. I can’t do this. I can’t be around her. Her scent in the car was difficult enough to deal with. I am the most relaxed and at the same time the most tense than I have been in weeks.“You need to calm down. This is a good thing.”“How can it be a good thing?! I was just getting used to not being around her.”“You get another shot, that’s why it’s a good thing!”“I don’t want it. She doesn’t want me. I am a rogue with nothing. Just let me reject her and we can move on. The rest of our group is settled and Ryker is going to make them all pack soon.”“NO!
39 - FinnToo excited to do anything else Greta and I cuddle on the couch talking into the early hours of the morning. Ryker said he has ideas of how to make this happen quickly for us, but he needed to catch some zzz’s before Rosie wakes up from her latest nap. He’s doing his best to support his mate through these early days, which I commend and envy him a little.Greta sighs deeply, but doesn’t say anything. I feel a wash of sadness come over her through the bond, but she is curled up against my side with her head tucked under my chin so I can’t see her expression.“Hey,” I whisper, squeezing her hip gently, “Talk to me.”Another sigh and then a sniffle and I can’t take the suspense anymore. I pull her up into my lap so she’s forced to look at me even though she keeps her eyes closed like it’s going to stop me from seeing how red they are.“Greta, babe, you have to talk to me.” I plead. “What’s going on in that stubborn head?”She’s trying to calm her breathing, but it's ragged an
Hi all. I apologize for being absent the last week. I was a much needed break from all things electronic and somewhat out of my control. I am back, diving into the conclusion to The Warrior's mate and concepts for new stories to follow once I am done here.I appreciate all of the readers who have been following me since the beginning and any new readers just joining in.
38 - FinnThe living room is good and full of people when we finally make it inside. I am not a fan of crowds, but there is so much excitement around the birth of Kennedy and Ryker’s baby, I can’t help but smile along with everyone else. Trinity wiggles out of my arms, but grabs my hand in her tiny little fingers. She is clearly in charge here.I look over my shoulder at Greta, but all I get is a smile and a shoulder shrug as she walks off towards the kitchen and I am dragged closer to the crowded couch where I can see the top of Kennedy’s head through the mass of wellwishers surrounding her.“Come on Finn, look at, look at!” Trinity moves like our bodies are the same size and I can wade through the legs of adults like she does. “Come on Finn!” She says, annoyed at the slow pace. A few people move at her fireceness, smiling at the demands of a determined child. When I finally get through, the sight stops me in my tracks. Kennedy is glowing holding a tiny pink blanket. All I can make
37 - FinnGreta takes me by Ryker’s packhouse to shower and change. The perks of having clothes and supplies at my fingertips still surprises me sometimes. Cindy, this tiny little kitchen omega, packs us meals to go and we start our drive.“Uh…so how is this going to work?” I ask tentatively. We obviously have the physical part of being mated under control. Greta has even let me hold her hand most of the drive.“What do you mean?” She asks, but it’s not convincing. I know she’s been thinkin logistics too.“Well we are mated now and there is no way I’m going to sleep separate from you, but my apartment won’t fit you, me and up to four kids. Will your place fit all of us, or do we need to talk to Ryker about something else?” Her eyes go wide. Maybe she wasn’t thinking about the same logistics I was.“What makes you think that we are going to have up to four kids with us?” Her husky voice squeaks and it’s adorable. I can’t help but smile at how nervous she is. Kids were never on her
36 - GretaI am so full of mixed emotions. On the one hand I want to beat Janelle’s ass. I never really liked her anyway. Her and Amy were always too good to do any actual work or put effort into anything but chasing the leadership. Now I know why, but it doesn’t make them any less irritating. She will suffer for all of their crimes even if she isn’t the brains behind this operation. Everyone in this pack will put the most responsibility on her. It’s one hundred percent personal.I’m pulled out of my thoughts by a kiss to the neck. I suck in a breath at the sensation. “They have this handled. Grant said to get out of here before he throws up.” Finn whispers against the shell of my ear causing a wave of goosebumps to trail over my whole body. I just now notice we aren’t alone with Janelle and her other teammates. Finn really is distracting, I’m going to have to watch out for that.Finn lifts me by my thighs and I naturally wrap them around his waist when he starts walking. It seems
35 - FinnI can’t even begin to describe how good Greta feels in my arms. But I can’t think about that right now, we have a fight to finish. So I thread my fingers through her hair and kiss her gently one more time before pushing her off my lap and standing. She takes the hint and then takes my hand and we both run into the forest or we can still hear growls and snapping of wolves fighting.“They knew we were coming.“ Greta says, a little bit more worry than I’m used to in her voice. “I know, I think your Warriors got played.“ I say exsasperated. Ryker’s team is so good though, I don’t know how it is possible. “Could they be using any of your old hideouts or old methods to get into the pack?” She asks. “I don’t think so, because Amy‘s dad was very secretive about how we moved from place to place. There was a lot of magic involved, so I don’t think anyone actually knew how and where we were traveling until we finally got to where he wanted us to stop.“ “He really pushed for the mag
34 - FinnWe are a tangle of fur and fangs. The stench of this rogue is enough to make me want to gag, but I continue to bite at him. He’s fast but sloppy. His claws don’t hit their mark because he’s fighting angry, not controlled. His wolf rears back and mine lunges to the side and whips around to grab his flank. He rips at the muscle and we are rewarded with a howl as he hits the ground and tries to limp away. There’s no way my wolf is standing for that. He jumps on his back and bites at his throat again and again, until he finally collapses. When my wolf feels the pulse in his neck completely stop he drops him to the ground and we go in search of our mate. I hear the sounds of fighting all around me. This group wasn’t dumb, but I’m not sure what their plan is. They haven’t gotten past our defenses to get further into Dark Moon. I haven’t heard of any demands of threats or what they want. I keep following the sounds and my pull to Greta. Another two grey wolves dodge out towards
33 - FinnAs we reach the SUV a blood curdling scream in the form of Finn’s name comes from behind us. We both turn around, he catches the child flying at him easily.“No, don’t go.” She keeps repeating through sobs, holding onto him as tightly as her little fingers will allow.Finn looks at me, but I don’t know what to do either. We are both so out of our depth here. Part of me hopes that Ryker is wrong about her parents, because neither of us knows the first thing about raising a pup or dealing with emotional outbursts like these.“Hey.” I step closer and try to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear. I get a ‘humph’ and she burrows into Finn’s neck further. Taking a quiet breath in and out, I look at Finn. We have to go, Janelle is our problem, but Trinity is our responsibility. I don’t know what to do.Finn rubs her back, consolingly. “Trin, why can’t we leave?”“Cause you won’t come back.” She blubbers out. The sound is extra muffled against his neck.“What makes you think that?” I
32 - GretaA blast of sunlight hits me right in the face. I gasp, but I can’t move. What is going on? My eyes peel open slowly and I take in the surrounding bedroom. I see immediately why I am stuck. I am in the middle of a four human pretzel. Gabriel’s head is on my stomach with his butt towards Finn, who still has my right hand laced with his resting on his chest.Tilting my head a little further, I see Trinity woven into my legs. Her head is on my left thigh, but she’s under my right leg. Her feet are tucked under Finn’s leg. It explains why I no longer have a blanket on me, their body heat is plenty.“How did you not get wound into all of this?” I whisper to Finn.I hear a huff before he answers. “I was, but I had to pee. When I got back they had you locked down. They haven’t moved since.”“Did you hear what Ryker said about their pack?” I’m not bringing up the part of the conversation about me.“I did. I think we let him and Josh do their thing and we have a discussion with the
