I looked at Zayden, not wanting to believe what the guy just said. Then I thought, maybe I imagined it or misheard it.

“Zayden, did you hear that?” Zayden seemed less surprised than me. He acted calmly, like he already knew what was going on.

“Relax, Achilles. He might be lying,” he said, trying to calm me down. He knew I might not be able to handle the information right then, so he tried to distract me.
