Kayden's POV
Morrison handed the key over to me.
"Thank you for coming out here. You don't know how much I appreciate this."
He bowed. "I do as my Prime Alpha wishes."
I squinted my eyes as I observed the old council house. Wyoming was a beautiful place, but the estate here has grown too small to occupy our growing numbers. I unlocked the gate and Brandon and Morrison passed me, entering inside. Before Stefan could make his way past the gate, I grabbed his arm and pulled him back to face me.
"Yes, Prime Alpha?" He looked at me warily.
I punched him square in the jaw, his neck turning sharply to the right from the impact. "That's for speaking so ill of Lisa. Next time you decide to go on a drunken adventure in the maze, make sure to stay off your phone."
He didn't grab his face out of pride, but I could see him resisting the urge to rub his jaw. His cheek turned red as he glared at me. Fo
Lisa's POVThe sun was shining brightly in the sky when I walked into the kitchen and slid a piece of strawberry syrup-covered French toast from the kitchen table into my mouth. I drew out a chair and settled down to dig into my breakfast when Jonas walked in the door. What about Lisa?"Yes?" I wipe the powdered sugar off the side of my mouth with a napkin."Can I talk to you outside for a bit?" He asked.I gazed down regretfully at my breakfast, which I had barely eaten, and pushed back my chair. "Yeah, I'll be right outside in a moment." Walking out, I noticed I had a drop of strawberry syrup on the tank top I borrowed from Lilo. "Dang it."Jonas looked over his shoulder. "What's wrong?"I rub at the spot, trying to get rid of the stain. "It's no big deal; I just made a mess."He stopped at the pond. "Your uncle talked to me and managed to scare me, so I talked to your aunt Olivia, and she said
Lisa's POVI know I had told him beforehand that this wasn't a date, but yet the drive felt awkward. I should be used to driving with him after the long hours we've spent inside of a car together. The drive was usually filled with silence, very much like this one, but tonight there was tension in the air and I needed to break it.
LISA'S POV"You don't mean that.""I do.""Take that back."
LISA'S POVI'm burning...I could feel my body heating up rapidly, but I don't know where it originated from. I'm not sure where it begins or where it ends; was it my neck? My wrist? My lower abdomen? I couldn't manage to figure it out. All I knew was that it was there and it was growing hotter by the second, becoming more and more prominent. I tried pushing myself up, but my muscles refused to heed the command my brain was trying to pass through. I fell back onto my back. My eyes had refused to open or were they open and I was surrounded by total darkness? There was no Jonas or Kayden to rescue me this time. I was all alone in this.I wanted to writhe in pain. It was the only normal reaction to perform given my present condition, but I couldn't even bring myself to do that. I tried to look at my arms, but in the dark it was futile. I don't even know where my arms were in this darkness. I felt hot. I was
Lisa's POVI hear my name being called over and over again, pulling me close like a moth to a flame. Struggling to open my eyes, I eventually end up finding enough muscles to pry my eyelids apart. As soon as I finally managed to do that, it was like a switch was flicked on in my head and my entire body started waking up, each part after the other. And as I see him standing next to me, my clouded mind starts to clear up. He held my hand tightly, staring at me in disbelief.I had yet to regain full control of my body, but I was quite certain that if I did, my face would mirror the expression on his. I remember telling him that I forgave him for what happened and that I didn't hold it against him. There was no way I could be mad at him for what happened
Lisa's POVIt felt like one of those nights again. After having a nightmare that left me too scared to go back to sleep and too afraid to stay awake, I usually stared up into the darkness, trying to find peace in it. Kayden snores softly beside me while my nightmare plays in my head, over and over again. I glide my hand up over my arm and to my chest where the bandage covers the bullet wound. Now that I was alive, the Council was bound to come for me again, no matter who was in charge. It didn't matter if their leader was fast asleep in a chair right next to my hospital bed, acting as a guard.I could attempt to flee the country on my own without Jonas helping me. Kayden couldn't come or know my whereabouts. I couldn't ask him for it or tell him wher
KLAUS' POVI nearly gagged at the smell as I walked inside the building to a mixture of smoke and beer. I was seriously contemplating having this place sued for violating several counts of the health code. How did people manage to survive living in a place like this?Behind a wooden desk that was already falling apart, a woman slumped forward, her eyes shut as she snored lightly. One of the sleeves of her bright pink blouse hangs off her skinny shoulders. Eyeshadow was smudged out to this side of her head. Her frizzled mass of black hair was tied in a bun, but it looked unkempt. This was the ghetto definition of classy.I pressed the bell, but it only made a pitiable sound. I slammed my fist on
Lisa's POVA man wearing a blue uniform runs towards me. His hair was rather unkempt. When he stopped in front of me, he was already out of breath. "There you are. Everyone in the hospital has been searching for you everywhere. He bent and rested his hands on his thighs. "The Prime Alpha is already freaking out. Let me take you to him. " Without asking for my permission, he pushed my wheelchair to the elevator.Thank you for helping me."No problem, miss. I was only trying to save my job and that of others. "Fortunately, no one else was on the elevator when we boarded. I was hoping Klaus wouldn't return like the last time. The trip to the floor wher
