As Demetrius' mother, Miquel, and Demetrius made their way through the throng of well-wishers, they were stopped by a group of children from Demetrius' school. They had all drawn pictures and written letters expressing their thanks to Miquel and Demetrius.

“Thank you for everything you've done for us,” said a woman, her face lit up with gratitude.

Miquel smiled and accepted the gift, a small pouch of herbs and spices. “It was the least we could do,” she replied.

“We are happy to have been of service,” added Demetrius.

“Thank you for teaching us, Lady Miquel,” said a little boy, holding out a drawing of a wolf. “I will always remember what you taught me about the spirits of the forest.” Those memories made Miquel laugh. She didn't spend many days in the school, but she was happy they were able to hold on to something.

Miquel took the drawing and hugged the boy, feeling a lump form in her throat. “Thank you,” she whispered.
