—Lena's POV— The day had finally come, I had taken care of everything I needed to back at my lab, asked for a leave of absence and handed over my patients, there was nothing more left for me to do other than to pack up and also explain to the kids that we are leaving, I still haven't figured out what I'm going to tell them, thankfully Zoey is coming with us, so she'll be able to stay with the kids while I'm working, I really don't know what I would do without her. I lock up my lab, leave the building, get into my car and drive home. I still have to pack for me and the kids, this disease, I don't know how bad it is and so I have no idea how long I'll be at the pack. I get home and I see Zoey's car is already there, which means the kids are back from school. I park my car and head into the house and a fee seconds later, I hear their little feets running down the stairs. “Mummy!” All three of them scream when they see me. I squat down and ooeny arms as wide as I can and
—Lena's POV— We were packed up and kids were excited about the road trip, I decided to drive instead of taking a plane, the drive down is about six hours and between me and Zoey it shouldn't be a problem. The truth is that with a flight, we would've gotten there in two hours and then the drive down to the pack would've been about thirty minutes, but I wanted to postponey reunion with Leo for as long as possible. So the kids were buckled up in the back, Zoey took the passenger seat, I was going to drive for the first three hours and she would finish the journey. Zoey talked on the phone with Zeo, Leo's Beta, so they know to expect us, Zeo said that all my requirements have been met and our house is ready. My lab assistant would be joining us in two days, he still had some things to wrap up. “Are you ready kids?” I asked them, and I managed to even sound excited. “Yes!” Liam shouted. “Let's go!” Luke shouted as he pumped his fists in the air.
—Lena’s POV— The shock was clear on his face, he looked like he had just seen a ghost. I look back into the car and see that the kids are still asleep, I have to get rid of Leo before they wake up, I know sooner rather than later he's going to see them but I'd like it to not be today. I take a deep breath, I look to Zoey and she nods her head at me and I walk towards Leo and Zeo while Zoey stays back so she can keep an eye on the kids. “Alpha Leo I presume?” I asked him even though I knew it was him. He looked so confused it was almost funny. “Selene? What are you doing here?” He asked as he stared at me, not even blinking. “I'm here to help, you asked for my help so here I am and my name is not Selene, it's Doctor Lena Everhart.” I tell him. “You? You're the doctor?” He asked. “Yes I am, now I appreciate the both of you coming here to welcome us but I've had a long journey and I just need to get some rest, we can talk after I'v
—Alpha Leo's POV— I couldn't believe it, if Zeo wasn't there, I would've thought that maybe my eyes were deceiving me, but they weren't, it was her, it was Selene. She was older but she was even more beautiful than the last time I saw her and it was clear to me that she wasn't the same girl I rejected six years ago. No, in her place was a woman, a strong, confident woman. The way she talked to me, I mean she wasn't rude but she had this authority in her voice. And she was a mother, a mother. At first when I saw that little boy run towards her and call out to her, I had this shock and dread run down my spine, before she left she told me she was pregnant but I didn't give a fuck, I was so caught up with Scarlett coming back to me. But the children weren't mine, which only meant one thing, she had moved on, she had someone else in her life and for some reason that made my blood boil. Somehow we made it back to my house and back into the office, I took my seat and
—Lena's POV— “Uhmmm….” I trailed off, trying to think of what to say, that's the thing with kids, they hear everything and they're not scared to call you out. “His name is Leo, he is the Alpha of this pack. Remember I explained to you and your sibling who an Alpha is.” I remind him. “Yes I remember, but why did you tell him we were four years old, we are five, not four mummy.” He says as he tries to give me a stern face but he just ends up looking so cute. “I'm sorry baby, I must've mispoken, the next time I meet with him I'll make sure to correct it alright.” I tell him and then he smiles and nods his head. Thank goodness, crisis averted. I take Luke out of his car seat and Zoey carries Karla, I'm just happy that it was Liam that woke up and not Like, Luke would've not been satisfied with the answer I gave to Liam. Because my hands are full with carrying Luke, I hand Liam the keys and he opens the door to the cabin. I still can't believe that t
—Alpha Leo's POV— It took everything in me not to go over to the cabin last night and demand answers from Lena, because Zeo was right, I couldn't do anything to sabotage this. Lena was our last chance, but what if the triplets were mine, what if I was their father. I went down a rabbit hole last night, Scarlett came home drunk again and tried to start a fight and I regret to say that even though I saw it coming, I fell into her trap. We had a huge fight and I left the room and spent all day in my home office because I couldn't sleep and it wasn't because of my fight with Scarlett, no she wasn't the woman that was on my mind. It was Lena that I couldn't get off my mind and her kids, I had to know if they were mine, maybe this was the reason Scarlett and I couldn't have kids. Because I made a mistake and maybe I'm meant to be with Lena and the reason Scarlett can't get pregnant is because I already have kida out there. I stayed up all night pondering this and all
—Lena's POV— I've had a long night, I barely slept. Karla woke up screaming because she was in a new place and she was scared that she had been kidnapped, after that her brother's woke up and we had lunch and when it was time to go to bed, they all slept with me and I stayed up to watch over them. So you can only imagine after driving sic hours and barely getting any sleep, I'm really not in the mood for any confrontation today but it's just my luck that she's here today. I still don't understand how or why we look so alike, it's like looking into a mirror. The only way you'd know the difference was the scar that I had on my hand and Scarlett's hair is longer than mine, but that's it. “Scarlett, I would say it's nice to see you again but I would be lying.” I snapped at her. “How dare you talk to me like that?” She snapped back. “I apologise, I didn't get much sleep last night. To answer your question, I'm here to hopefully find a cure to the illness
—Lena's POV— “Ok then, hopefully the kid is still alive.” He says. “Yea, hopefully.” I say but I don't say what's on my mind who's is that the kid is probably dead. We continue walking and I can feel him watching me, I know he has questions but he better come out and say it because I'm not going to help him. “Can I ask you something?” He asked. “It depends.” I tell him. “On what?” He asked. “Does it have to do with work?” I asked him. “No, it doesn't.” He tells me. “Then it's my personal life then, well you can ask but I make no promises to answer.” I tell him. “It’s about your children actually, is their father in the picture?” He asked me. I knew he was going to ask me this and I already prepared an answer for him. “Yes, he is. He didn't come with us because he has a big project back at work, but he'll come visit them when he has the chance.” I tell him and the lie just slips easily off my tongue.
