Lyra's POV.

The bullet pierced his shoulder, sent him jerking backwards and resulted in the gun flying out of my hand.

I was bewildered, I didn't know the kind of power that had overtook me because I couldn't believe that I shot someone. I looked over to the guy in the river.

His blue shirt was stained with blood and he was flinching due to the pain. He didn't look as scary as he once did when he held the gun, he looked rather calmer but in pain.

I instantly felt pity towards him but of course I couldn't jump into the river to help him. Staying right there in the river was safer for me. Even though I wanted to help, I wasn't going to be stupid about it.

Footsteps appeared behind me and then I saw Philip making nis way towards me, as he saw me, he quickened his footsteps and wrapped his hand around me in a tight hug.

"Fuck, Lyra, I was so scared".

I chuckled, "you didn't have to be, I'm okay, I'm fine".

He hugged me once again like the thought of anything happening to me was his worst
