Chapter 88

Lyra's POV

I was stupefied. My eyes glued to the servant who had said those words, I wondered what she could have seen that made her give such testimony. Of course her words were untrue, I never pushed Devlin down from the terrace. What reason could I possibly have for committing such a crime?

Devlin was a bitch, she was a very horrible and selfish person and I have received such cruelty first hand but it wasn't enough reason to push her down when she might likely fall to her death. I wasn't a monster, I wasn't cruel. I hated her but not to the point where I'll kill her.

I do wish her a horrible life worse than death but I wasn't going to be the one to deliver it.

The maid's words had been influenced by something, although I had no idea what, but I do know that she couldn't have made such a bold accusation without someone backing her up.

I wasn't the only one pissed about the maids' words, Philip who was standing behind me seemed to have his feathers ruffled.
