Lyra's POV It was shocking to see Steven there, all this time I have never seen him in Macy's shop before but thinking about it, maybe he has been here the days when I wasn't here. He was looking at me with a smile, like we were very acquainted with each other when it wasn't the case. As he made his way over to where Macy and I were standing, I shifted in my.seat and shifted a bit away from him just so I wouldn't be intruding on his personal space. He smelled good, almost like Asher but there was an obvious difference. He smelled like the forest after a downpour, the leaves after the sun had shone on them. It was indeed mesmerizing. Macy's aura changed, she donned the look of a professional, looking like she indeed knew what she was doing running a business such as this. She grabbed a notebook and a pen and smiled politely at Steven, he returned the smile with a crease appearing beside his eyes. "What can I get you please?" Macy asked. Steven thought for a while, or rather l
Asher's POV. I hadn't expected that coming into this store I would come face to face with Lyra again, especially after seeing her just minutes ago and fighting about what had happened between us. She had said so many things to me, making me feel that maybe I was also at fault for everything that happened between us that night. It seemed far-fetched that she smelled like Devlin but there was no way that I would have no clue about how Devlin smelled like. J couldn't stop thinking about how similar they smelled like, there was not even a little disparity between their smells. They both smelled the same way and it was understandable that Lyra would not believe my words. She thought everyone was like her, she thought we were all as dirty and disgusting as she was. Seeing her again, I was utterly disgusted, everything about her was giving me a headache and I hated that she was walking the face of the earth just like me. It would've been more bearable if she was millions of miles away
Lyra's POV. The minute I saw Asher I knew that the day wouldn't bode well for me. He walked into the shop and I was the first place where his eyes fell on and I could see that he wasn't exactly happy to see me. There was an anger in his eyes, there was also disgust as he looked at me. His eyes moved to my hand that Steven was holding and instinctively, without even thinking about it, I removed my hand and even further created a distance between Steven and I. It was after I had done all that I realized that I did something quite stupid. Asher didn't like me, he didn't care who I was with and I was pretty sure my whole existence disgusted him so why would I even bother to try to make him understand that there was nothing going on with Steven. If he wanted to assume that Steven and I were going out or doing anything other than being mere acquaintances, it was cool with me. I owe Asher no explanation whatsoever. The only explanation I owed him was the one from sleeping with him withou
Lyra's POV As those words left Asher, I was dumbfounded, I had wanted to beg him, to plead with him for forgiveness but he said those words and moreso in the presence of so many people. It didn't take long for then to open their mouths and start laughing at me, they laughed for a long time while I stood there as the object of their entertainment. I was dejected, I had resigned to understand thatbthis was yhe life Asher wanted me to live for the rest of my life. This was what I had become just because of one mistake. My kife had never been roses and daffodils, but it was never so painful, it didnt hurt kike it was hurting me right now. I wanted to die, I wantes to end everything because I was embarrassed, heartbroken and regretful. Asher had every reason to hate me, Asher could run his dager through me and I would understand that it was all my fault bexause really, it was. My kife was a shit show and it was nobody's fault but mine. I wanted to wail, to cry, to scream and beg Ash
Lyra's POV My heart skipped a beat as he said those words. I had been a bit relieved that he hadn't mentioned anything about that night and from the looks of it, he wanted to keep it a secret from the people that shouldn't know kf such things. Somehow, I was surprised he was smart enough to make such a decision but then I thought that even though he did tell everyone that it was my fault, there may be people who woukd blame him too. People who woukd see that he wasn't without fault. It was unexpected when a figure came in front of me and knekt down to Asher. It was Macy, she went on her knees as she begged Asher, with her hands together and tears jn her eyes, she began to olead with Asher: "I promise you Asher, Lyra knows her place. It was her faukt for talking to you in such a rude tone and please I plead for her sake. Please do not punish her, do not punish her. She is a good person". Asher kaughed out loud as if Macy had cracked a very funny joke. "Lyra is not a good person".
Lyra's POVAsher knelt down on one knee in front of me, I had no idea what he was planning to do but I was honestly expecting the worst. He leaned into me slowly, his smell was affecting my senses making me feel very drowsy like I had not been crying a few minutes ago. He brought his lips dangerously close to my skin and I was forced to remember how soft they felt and how amazing they were against my own lips.I heard him swallow. It seems as much as I was affected, he was too and I liked it so much. I liked it so much that I had momentarily forgotten about what was going on, about what he was planning to do to me."I have seen how your mother treats you," he whispered into my ear.I was totally lost in how his breath caressed my skin that I wasn't even paying attention to what he was saying. I was feeling shivers all around my body and I knew it wasn't the appropriate reaction to such a threat but I couldn't help it, my body desired him and I could not help it."What are you thinki
Asher's POV"What are you thinking about?" I had asked her when my lips were dangerously hanging beside her ear. I had moved closer to her to make the threat regarding her mother because I knew it was somewhat private, not everybody could know of the problems she had at home. Whether or not she was a deceitful bitch, I was still somehow considerate.Maybe this issue with her started because of her mother's neglect or the hateful words she used to address her daughter. However, it was when I found my lips next to her ear, my skin almost touching hers did I realize that it was a bad idea to have moved closer to her.My heart was racing and I could feel her shuddering as well. It seemed I wasn't the only one feeling affected by what was going on.However, I was angry at how my body was reacting. It was just sex, I knew it was just sex, she wasn't my mate, I shouldn't feel this way for her. My body should not be reacting the way it was.I couldn't do anything about it but it didn't help
Lyra's POVJust like Devlin wanted, I walked behind them, with my head bent and my confidence stolen away from me.But the thing is, something cannot be taken from you when you never once had it.It was funny how this day turned out to be. If I had known, I would have never left my room this morning. I would've refused to help them clean up because that was what led to this quagmire that I was in.I have lost my freedom and I was being taken as a slave, even worse, as Asher's slave.I knew he wasn't as terrible as he made himself out to be but I knew the hatred burning in him towards me could morph him into something else, something extremely unrecognizable.I had nothing to say and no tears to cry anymore. I couldn't even rely on my mother to rescue me because she wouldn't. She would sell me off to Asher in return for a smile from him.I was unimportant to her and so she wouldn't think twice about selling me off.I shuddered lightly, I had been crying for a while now and my body was
