JAMES

I could barely look at her, knowing the following words out of my mouth would be hard for both of us to swallow.

“I would love to be your mate, Zira, seriously, but…I…I…already have one.”

“What!”

I could immediately feel a pull on my heart. I knew this wouldn’t be easy, but I couldn’t prolong it to worsen it later.

Zira looked at me, shocked, before quickly recovering to a blank expression. We stared at each other for a few more minutes, and I could see she was conversing with her wolf.

“Just great, James. Why not just rip her heart from her chest while you’re at it?” Deacon growled.

“Deacon-”

He quickly shut me out. We’d been arguing for the past week when I brought it to his attention that we would have to reject them. I didn’t want to hurt Zira, but she needed to know the truth.

When she returned, she looked at me confused, then walked to the bathroom. I had the urge to follow her, but I stayed put. Following any she-wolf after what I just said wouldn’t be wise.

JAMES Alpha Fiona pulled me out the door while Trixie confronted Zira. That’s when I started to get irritated. “Of course you are. That should be us consoling our mate, numb nuts,” Deacon growled. “Shut up,” I snapped at him. She just needed a day or two to get over this. Some space might help both of us. “Let’s go for a run,” Alpha Fiona suggested while leaving the pack’s hospital. I nodded and blindly followed her into the woods. Deacon liked the idea of running off his frustration. So we both shifted and took the route that led to a little forest alcove some miles away from the pack. It’s the place I come to when I need to think out loud. The place where Alpha Fiona found me those years ago. I shifted and climbed one of my favorite trees. There was something peaceful about lying in a tree. Alpha Fiona took position near the base of the tree. Probably waiting for me to start. Well, it’s going to be a while. We stood like this for a minute before hearing her sigh down bel

ZIRAI don’t know how long I was out of it. Still, somehow, I was in another room, sitting on a very comfortable bed with the most obnoxious fairy in the world. Trixie talked about the bare walls and adding something to make the room brighter while I stared straight ahead at nothing. Her bubbly attitude was making me feel worse. My brain was trying to catch up with everything that had just happened. But, for some reason, I couldn’t believe it. I just...I couldn’t believe my luck. Death, birth, death again, and then rejection. Tears fell down my face onto Zacharias’s face. I quickly wiped my face and tried to think about the bright side. A bright side? That’s laughable. Though the one I had was pretty worth it, and he was cooing in my arms. Zacharias was the only good thing in my life, but now I’m just waiting for that to change. “So, what do you think, Zira?” Trixie asked, breaking me out of my trance. “Yeah, it sounds great,” I said plainly. Trixie looked as if she was hurt by my

ZIRA“Zacharias! Zachar-” A door opened, and James walked in with Zacharias in his arms. He was smiling down at him, making stupid baby noises. How dare he hold my baby like he was a good person? Immediately, anger overcame my anxiety as I glared at him. I walked over, took Zacharias from him, and placed him back in the bassinet. “Zira, if I could say something,” James started, but I didn’t want to hear it. “No, you need to leave. I don’t want to hear anymore.” “Please, let me explain….” I reached out and grabbed his arm, which was a mistake. We both froze and gasped at the sudden touch. I closed my eyes to take it in, and the moment I opened them, James’s eyes were dark gray. It must have been his werewolf because Nina was pushing to come forth, but I held her back. I was still in a towel and didn’t trust her, let alone James’s werewolf. “James,” I whispered through shallow breaths. I was still touching his arm, and the longer I held on, the quicker my breathing got. Finall

JAMESI stood there facing the door, rubbing my poor ear. Man, Zira has a firm grip. My hands were sweating, and my body tingled from her touch. My feet were rooted to the floor, refusing to leave, or it could have been Deacon. Her little stunt excited him even more. Horny bastard!Though I didn’t blame him. Her scent was overpowering, and it was a struggle to keep it out. I knew this would be hard, but she was driving me crazy. I wanted to be near her and keep touching her, and of course, Deacon made it worse.“At least I was brave enough to go after what I wanted. Can’t say the same for you,” Deacon growled.“Yeah, and look at where it got us.”

  • The Alpha's Triangle   Crossroads

JAMESI woke up in a bank of snow. It’s cold but soothing to me. I sat up and looked at my surroundings. I was in the middle of a forest. As I got up, the most intoxicating scent caught my attention. It smells of juniper berries and something else...fir or sandalwood. It kept changing, but I knew it was her.I started to make my way through the forest. I needed to find her. Maria? No, Zira? I couldn’t tell who I was going after. I ran for what felt like hours until I came to a crossroads. How cliche? Their scent surrounded me like a cloud as I looked back and forth between my options. Then I heard her voice. It was…Maria.“Jamesy-bear.” Her nickname for me. I hated it, but it made her smile, and that was goo

ZIRA It’s been a while since I had a nightmare like this. I was lucky that James decided to check in on us. I don’t know what I would have done. After a few minutes of crying into his chest, he got up to get me something to clean my face. I walked over to check on Zacharias, who was awake and probably hungry. I checked the time; it was close to three in the morning, meaning I only got two hours of sleep. James returned with a warm towel I used to wipe my face with. “Thank you.” “Of course,” he replied, sitting at the edge of my bed, ensuring distance between us. I picked up Zacharias and walked around the room. I saw the door joining our room flat against the floor. Can’t

ZIRA James’ words shocked me, but I wasn’t ready to trust him yet. “Why should I tell you? You seem to know more than you let on.” He laughed as if there was some inside joke I was missing. “I told you about Maria and how she was killed by a jealous witch.” I nodded even though I knew he wasn’t waiting for me to answer. “That witch was Alaia. I grew up with her, and during that time, she grew an attachment to me. Unfortunately, it made her vindictive towards anyone who showed me affection. Even after I took Maria as a mate, that didn’t stop her from her ridiculous ideas of us being together. Those ideas led her to kill the only woman I’ve ever loved.” He sat closer to me and grabbed my hands. “Then you came into my life, and everything that happened to Maria flooded my b

JAMESWhen I returned home from the Black Moon Pack, my first instinct was to search for Zira, and I found her on the warriors’ field. I watched as she sparred with one of the warrior women. I refused to let any men near her and was glad Alpha Fiona understood. Like any other day, she held my attention. The connection between us has been getting stronger, even with my absence. She was wearing tight black sweatpants that showed every delicious curve. She had on a matching black crop top, showing off her stomach for the first time since she gave birth. She was getting stronger, which meant it wouldn’t be long until she rejected me and left. Deacon didn’t like the idea, and now, neither did I.“Then let her mark us and complete the bond,” Deacon said.

ISAIAH Water splashed on my face for the hundredth time as my son’s laughter filled the bathroom. I looked down at Arias, who apparently got a kick from throwing soap in my face. Each time seemed to make Arias laugh more. “Arias, we’ve been in here for twenty minutes. You have to let me wash you,” I said, trying to grab him, but Arias slipped out of reach. “That’s it. I’m coming in.” Arias shrieked, trying to get away from me. I couldn’t help but laugh. Who knew bath time could be this fun? After another ten minutes or so, I was able to thoroughly wash and dress Arias for bed. I laid Arias down in his crib and grabbed a book to read from the bookshelf. Arias climbed out of his crib and

He cocked an eyebrow, with a smile playing across his face.“What?”“I thought,” I said, trying to catch my breath. “I thought you were gone.”James laughed. “Where would I go?” James asked sarcastically. “You barely let me pee without hovering over me. THIRD POV After her little laughing fit, Alaia turned her attention back to Mirja, who was trying to claw her way out of Alaia’s grip. Alaia could see her brother stalking back and forth beyond her little shield, looking just as helpless as his little mate. “You know,” Alaia started with a malicious smirk, “it tickled me when I found out you were my brother’s mate. All this time, I couldn’t figure out why you always dismissed my plans of wanting to kill him. Subconsciously, you were always on his side. You just didn’t know why. So now I’m going to enjoy killing you while he watches.” Alaia tightened the hold around Mirja’s neck as Mirja gasped for air. Alaia was so wrapped up in her fury to kill that she didn’t notice anyone entering her space until the last moment. She whipped around and came face to face with James.
