ZIRA
I watched as Isaiah left the room with Isabella on his heels. I knew how he felt about all of this, and I wished there was a way to make him feel better, but who could? Who would feel great talking about the best way to kill their crazy mate? Hell, I might even hesitate if it was James.
From Isabella’s face when she came back in, I knew Isaiah must’ve said something devastating. I wanted to go after him but didn’t want to cause any problems with James, especially after what happened at the hospital. So, I’ll wait until we figure out how to kill the person behind all of this.
“Mary said Alaia had amassed a lot of rogues by her side. So, we’re going to need someone inside. First, figure out what we’re dealing with. Then, we need that person to find a way to lower the gate. There are two,” Alpha Zack motioned aroun
ISAIAHI stared at the note from my father as I sat in my office. My mind was tormented by the painful realization that I had failed yet again to protect those I loved. How could I be so blind, so naive, to not see the darkness lurking in my pack? The guilt was gnawing at my soul as I thought of Arias. He was innocent in all of this, and still, Alaia managed to dig her claws even deeper. The thought of my son enduring any kind of suffering inflicted by the hands of the woman who had vowed to love and cherish me was a burden too heavy to bear.“Fuck!”I threw the chair across the room, lodging it into the wall. How could I call myself a father if I couldn’t do that? How could I call myself an Alpha if I couldn’t make the necessary decision to protect my peop
ZIRA *Sexual content* I froze by the door when I approached my room. He came back. I smiled to myself. He was blocking me, so I couldn’t feel his emotions through our bond. I didn’t know what mood he was going to be in. I cautiously entered the room and quietly closed the door behind me. I saw James exiting the bathroom, wearing only a towel. My breath hitched in my throat as we looked at each other momentarily, not knowing what to say. “James?” By his stance, I could tell he was still angry. Shit, I could feel it in the air in the room. Of course, it didn’t help that Isaiah’s scent was still on me, and I knew
ISAIAHThe next day, everyone gathered outside the pack house to get ready to leave. Alpha Zack and his crew left early to prepare his warriors. Everyone would meet there before heading to the castle Alaia was holding up.I walked to one of the cars and saw Zira and James talking to her parents. My chest tightened at the look on Mrs. Lake’s tear-stained face. I knew it would be hard for her parents to let her go again, but Zira was adamant about saving our son.“I need to start acknowledging my responsibility in all this,” I heard her say. I couldn’t help but watch her with admiration.“Take a picture, and it’ll last longer.”
ZIRAI pushed against Isaiah’s chest to escape his embrace, but he held tight.“What the hell is your problem?” I whispered to him while keeping my eyes on James, who was surprisingly calm. “Let me go, Alpha Isaiah.”Isaiah ignored me and pulled me closer to his body as he glared at James. This display only worsened my anxiety since we were out in the open. What if she sees this? What if she takes it out on Arias? So I tried a different approach. As I cleared my throat, I thought I saw his eyes change to green.“Isaiah,” I said, slowly trying to get his attention, “you have to stay hidden before anyone sees you. Before she sees you. We have to stick to the plan.”
THIRD P.O.V.Zack and his group made it to the far side of the waterfall. The cobblestone was slick with water, making it difficult to get across, but they made it. The hidden cave was behind the waterfall, covered with vines and rusted bars. Zack and Bronx grabbed a hold of the bars and pulled. The motion shook the entire cave, with debris falling in multiple places.“We can’t pull this out without bringing this whole thing down,” Zack said, stepping back. Mary walked up to the bars and examined them before squeezing right through. “Well, that’s one way to do it.”“Alright, let’s do this,” Mirja said excitedly. It’d been a while since she’d seen some action, and she was getting tired of being cooped up in a p
THIRD P.O.V.This was a stupid plan.Isaiah thought as he watched Zira walk across the bridge with James. He hated this stupid plan. It should’ve been him going with her and saving their son, not that prick of an Alpha. When James and Zira disappeared inside, Isaiah went back to his group. George plopped beside him from one of the trees and placed his hand on Isaiah’s shoulder.“I know how you feel, man. You know, Harry is the biggest flirt in the pack. Even though he says, he’s just being super nice. Mates, right?”“I don’t want to think about it,” Isaiah growled. “Let’s just keep up with the plan. The faster we do this, the closer we get to getting inside so I can protect her.”
THIRD POVMary gripped the bottle behind her back as the rogues glared at her. She tried controlling her fear as she approached them, but it slowly took over as she felt her legs shaking slightly. She was still just an Omega with meager fighting skills.“No one should be in this area,” growled the she-wolf as she gave Mary a once-over, noticing the shaking. “Why are you here?”“Luna Alaia,” Mary squeaked out before clearing her throat and failing to stand tall. “I’m here at Luna Alaia’s request. She wants me to check on the baby.”Mary tried to step through them, but the she-wolf held her back. Mary was able to get close enough to spray the pheromones on the she-wolf.
THIRD POVThe sounds like that of beating drums echoed throughout the woods as werewolves collided with each other. More rogues descended upon them as they tried to hold the line. Deacon maneuvered as best as he could, taking down a rogue every step of the way, but they seemed to be multiplying. He did his best to concentrate, but he felt pain spiral throughout his body occasionally.Zira. He had to get to her, but there were too many obstacles.“Portals are open,” George linked him.Deacon immediately started running towards George when a rogue jumped right before him. Maybe it was because he was only a few minutes away from her, but he felt a new kind of energy surge through him.
