Sheera regained consciousness, not knowing how long had passed. At first glance, she discovered she was in a dim, cramped room that smelled of stale air and dust. Rough stone walls surrounded her, and cold, uneven floors pressed against her palms.

Her head throbbed with the ache of fresh wounds. She felt... different.

"You!" Someone growled behind her.

Sheera turned swiftly to find Luna Valkyrie on the floor, mere steps away.

Her eyes flared in shock, her mind reeling. The Luna was hurt, her neck bleeding.

"Explain this! What are we doing here?"Valkyrie barked.

Sheera was as confused as the Luna, but she was more terrified of the blood running from her neck. Ohgods. Ohgods. Ohgods. She couldn't be here. She couldn't be here.

She scrambled to her feet, running to the door, but it wouldn't open. And without her wolf strength, she couldn't break it open.

She turned to the Luna, breathing heavily. "You... We need to break the door. You need to get out of here."

Valkyrie rose slowly,

"How have you been?" Thessaly asked, her voice soft. When Sheera tried to speak, she realized how heavy her throat was. She swallowed against the dryness. "What are you doing here?" Thessaly shrugged. "What does it look like? I'm visiting." She pointed at the food. "Not hungry?"Sheera was starving. They had brought her food only once since her imprisonment."You don't have to worry, Sheera. I didn't poison it." Thessaly's lips curled up. She plucked a piece of steak from the plate, taking a deliberate bite. "See? It's safe."With a hunger sharpened by days of deprivation, Sheera devoured the food, her fingers trembling as she ate, barely tasting the meal as she tore through it. For the moment, all else faded."You know, me and you are alike in many ways," Thessaly began. "I was looked down upon where I come from and really did suffer. I didn't grow up with my family. The people I grew up with, they hated me and treated me like a slave." She looked down, a shadow of old pain crossi

"Is it hot enough?""Yes, thank you."Malkar took a long swig, enjoying the taste of the steaming spicy soup. He exhaled, running his eyes around the vast space before him. It was nothing like where he came from, but it was beautiful. "You said you've been traveling for long now," the man seated beside him asked. "More than a week," Malkar answered, taking another taste from his bowl of soup. "Where are you coming from?"He hesitated, blinked and took another sip from the bowl. "I'd rather not say."It's been a rough journey for Malkar. He'd managed to get to the south. He was ambushed on the way and all his valuables taken from him. For two days, he'd gone hungry. He stopped by a market, hoping to steal something without being caught. But they did, and he was beaten by a mob. It was the old man beside him that had helped him, brought him to his tavern and served him a hot bowl of soup.Malkar hated that his life had been reduced to something so insignificant. • The Alpha's Third Mistress   The Cottage By The Lake

For seven days, Sheera and Keegan journeyed, stopping only at nightfall for food and rest. They could count the words they'd spoken to each other the whole time. Most of the time, it was "we're stopping for a break." Or, "You can eat this."Or other little customary statements. Sheera was still on edge, and there was a part of her that wondered if the Alpha had only saved her from the execution because he wanted to kill her himself. Because why else would he save her? He didn't have a reason to. On the second day when they'd left Howling Ridge, Keegan had removed the chains and Moly ropes from her. Gradually, her strength and power returned. On the seventh day, they got to their destination—or Keegan's, rather. It was a place that was so beautiful, it left Sheera stunned for a moment. It was a cottage by a gleaming lake, a small farmstead complete with a modest barn and a bustling coop of hens. The serenity of the scene left Sheera breathless, the place resembling a world remov

"Must be so lonely for you, right?" Odessa said, joining her. Thessaly rolled her neck and let out deep breath, her hand still on her belly. "Go away, Odessa. I'm not in the mood to talk.""I mean, imagine being pregnant for a man who ran off with a witch that killed his mother," she tsked. "How pathetic that that lady is more important than you and your son."Thessaly looked at her, offering her beautiful smile. "I'm not bothered. Unlike you, I am used to being ignored by the Alpha."Odessa cocked a brow. "Is that so?""Yes. And if you ask me, I'd say you are more affected than me. • The Alpha's Third Mistress   At The Abandoned House

She'd seen Thessaly as well and didn't tear her gaze away. Thessaly was befuddled, a thousand questions running through her mind at once. What was she doing there? She was banished. There was no way she could have made it into Howling Ridge without being spotted by a Keeper or any of the Pack members. She shouldn't even be 'here'. Only Elke knew of this location. For several minutes, the two was silent, simply staring at each other. "Hello, sister." Sheera finally said, releasing a smile that was more sad than real. Thessaly's heart caught in her throat. She knew. She gave Sheera a head to toe stare, wondering if the labour pain had somehow taken her into some sort of trance. "You do not look too excited to see me," Sheera pressed. "Too bad. For five weeks, I anticipated this moment."Thessaly was too stunned to speak. But she forced herself to composure. "What're you doing here?" Her eyes darted around, wondering if she had come with someone else. "If you're looking for Elke,

"It's not what you think." Her voice wavered."Not what I think?" Sheera scoffed, staring down at the crumpled figure of the woman she once loved like family. "Of course, it's what I know, Elke. And what I know is the fact that you betrayed me! You were... You were more than a friend. You were like a mother!"She looked around the room, taking in the familiar sights that now felt foreign and cruel. She recalled when she and Elke would work on herbs together. It took several moments for Keegan to reign in the tempest within him. But he wasn't done with her. No, he was far from finished. He had a search to lead and also wanted to know what she was doing in Howling Ridge despite her banishment. When Sheera told him what she'd discovered about Thessaly, he snapped, being in denial. "So, you take away my will, then return six months later to accuse my pregnant Mistress of being a witch?" He had asked maliciously. "I wouldn't risk my life coming here if any of these were false.""No. Maybe your life was worth risking because you think I'd believe you and punish Thessaly.""Then find her, Alpha. Find her and see if I'm lying."After a moment of silence, Sheera had added. "I swear on the moon, I am telling the truth. Thessaly is not missing. She sent into hiding, waiting for the Eclipse Moon which is only three nights from now."It took some more argument before Keegan gave into Sheera's words. he confirmed they were going to find Thessaly an

  • The Alpha's Third Mistress   What She Took From Him

Keegan was just about leading a group of Keepers and warrior Hounds out in search of Thessaly when he noticed the Keepers dragging someone in. There was a small crowd behind them, indicating whoever had been captured was someone very important... It didn't take him long to realize who. It wasn't one of those moments when it felt like time had stopped moving and no one else existed but the two of you. For Keegan, time seemed to be moving faster than normal—the scene unfolding too quickly in his eyes, moving in a blur with the wind. Before him was the face of the woman he's made up his mind not to see again. It was the face of the woman he 'hated'. The one he wished to punish, the one that had tormented him all these months. She had her eyes locked on him as she got closer, and in that moment, he felt a heat that ran all the way to his heart. His frozen heart. His face twisted in fury, his silver eyes turning as deadly as tempered steel.Everyone was taken aback by Sheera's appear

ONE MONTH LATER. A lot had changed with Howling Ridge. Something different had taken place. Something dark. People were hardly ever happy. The Fortress was even worse—filled with gloominess at all times. There was just something that didn't feel good about the place anymore. Odessa and her mother were still missing. Keegan had searched desperately for them, but it was fruitless. It was concluded that she was either dead or had fled. A part of Keegan considered the fleeing part. He'd been very hard on her—physically, sexually and emotionally. He wondered if that was the reason she decided to run for her life. But a part of him rebelled against the notion. Odessa was not a woman to shrink from a storm. She had stood firm where others would falter. The thought that she might have run seemed like a betrayal of her very essence. He'd grown harder, the thought of everything weighing down on him—all he's lost and endured for the past year. The Eclipse moon was now but four nights awa

  • The Alpha's Third Mistress   The Mother And Daughter

It had been a week since Sheera, Morginna and Ravyn embarked on their journey. The journey had been smooth, but it wasn't on that seventh day that Sheera realized her mother still had her powers. They'd been riding in the woods when they encountered bandits. Like they'd done to Sheera, they tried taking their valuables from them. The bandits outnumbered them, so confronting them wasn't much of an option. And that was where Morginna proved herself. To Sheera and Ravyn's surprise, she used her powers on them, defeating them easily. Of course she was a witch. It was just the first time Sheera was seeing her use her powers. When they'd finished with the bandits, Morginna glared at Ravyn. "I hope you know how to keep a secret." At nightfall, they camped as usual. Sheera and Morginna sat in front of the burning fire while Ravyn busied himself behind, laying on his back while munching on some berries. The mother and child were silent for a while, their eyes simply staring at the fire

Thessaly shrugged, resting a hand on her belly. "After the hunt, she said she needed to go somewhere. She said she'd come to the Fortress later." Kalaril appeared surprised. "Did she mention where she was going?" "She wouldn't say. When I insisted, she snapped at me. I feel a little bad that she might have used me to get out of the Fortress without raising suspicions. You know, it was her idea that we didn't go with any of the Keepers or maids." A Keeper came forward, taking the deer from her horse. Thessaly took a deep breath. "I am exhausted, Beta. What I need right now is some soft hands on my back." Kalaril chuckled, nodding. "You go ahead, Thess." She bowed before walking away. .... By nightfall when Odessa was still not back, it became a cause for concern. Her mother wasn't questioned, but she claimed she didn't know anything on her whereabouts. Keegan ordered Keepers to go look for her. It was a thing to worry about as Odessa had never stayed out that late before. Thes

Sheera's voice was resolute, not looking at her."But you told me you've been banished. They'll kill you if you set foot there!""I'll find a way."They were almost out to the part where people could see them when Morginna grabbed her hand, bringing her to a stop."Think about this. You do no longer have a wolf. Whatever Thessaly does will not affect you. You'll be fine, Kathryn.""So, what?" Sheera scoffed, pulling her arm free. Her face contorted in a mix of frustration and pain. "I have friends, people I care about! I can't just... I can't just leave them there to die!"She attempted to leave, but Morginna grabbed her hand again."Wh
