2022-08-24 04:44:23Tessa turned the omelet in the pan again before placing it on a clean porcelain plate. Then, she grabbed the two plates of omelet and left the kitchen.
As she stepped into the dining room, she could see two figures seated around the table. Chris was seated at the head of the table while her sister, Mona sat on the seat on his left.
They were smiling as they chatted. Their voices were low in a whisper and Tessa couldn't hear their words clearly but she was sure they were flirting. Sure enough, Chris lifted his palm which was initially on the table and he reached for Mona's lap.
Tessa's heart stung and a deep sense of anger arose within her. She felt stupid. They had been acting like that a long time back. The discreet touches and the flirty winks. But, how did she manage to miss those actions?
It was the day before that Tessa found out about their affair and she left home in denial. But after a few hours of walking around the beach and crying to vent her anger, she eventually calmed down.
She realized that she shouldn't hurt herself because of a scumbag like Chris. He was having affair and it wasn't just anyone. It was her sister.
She felt betrayed and cheated. She had been Chris's mate and Luna for five years and all through those years, she had maintained a good status. She has been a good wife and a capable Luna at the same time.
Chris had always wanted an heir to succeed him. But, Tessa was unable to get pregnant. They didn't know what was wrong.
But, he had always been patient and didn't blame her. Tessa loved him a lot due to this and it was why she was so devastated by his adultery. She thought he genuinely loved her and was willing to wait. But, it turned out she was just a breeding machine to him.
Tessa's eyes misted. Her gaze veered downwards and she subconsciously reached out to run her stomach. She wasn't sure if she was imagining things but she seemed to share a
connection with the little life inside of her.
She breathed heavily before glancing at the cheating couple again. Then, she made up her mind. She was going to stand tall. She couldn't put up with betrayal and she hated being betrayed. She would never forget what she saw on the door before.
Her fingers rubbed her belly. She would give birth to this child since it was hers. But, it would only be hers. Only hers.
It was then the duo at the table noticed her standing there. They immediately sat up straight and acted as though they hadn't been the ones acting intimately earlier.
Tessa scowled at this but she didn't show any reaction. She merely walked in and placed the plates on the table. There were only two plates. One was for Chris and the other was for…
Mona beamed and immediately reached out to pull the other plate of the omelet to herself. She smiled cheekily, "Thank you, sis. As expected, only my sister treats me so well."
Tessa's face turned cold. Immediately, she pulled the plate back to herself and sat down. Then, she gave Mona a look.
"If you're hungry, go cook for yourself."
"Sis…"
Mona's face was scrunched up and she seemed pitiful as though she had suffered a grievance. It made hearts melt and ignite the urge to protect her.
It had always been that way. Whenever Mona wanted something that belonged t9 Tessa and even if it was very important to the latter, she would act pitifully to get it. Tessa was helpless as she didn't want people to think she was bullying her. She would always give in to her.
Tessa felt that her actions were laughable. She had given so much to their sisterly bond. But, it was all for naught. Her sister was having an affair with her husband.
Tessa didn't say a word to her pitiful expression and instead grabbed her cutlery to begin eating. It was then Chris looked up from his food.
He gave Tessa a mere glance. But, no matter how she looked at it, Tessa only felt a threat by that glance as he asked, "Why didn't you cook for your sister?"
Tessa wasn't surprised by his question. Of course, she already expected him to act that way. So, her gaze was calm and steady as she looked at him.
She asked directly, "Am I her sister or nanny?"
Chris was taken aback. He hadn't expected her to react that way so he was momentarily speechless.
Tessa couldn't care less about his silence. She turned to face Mona and added, "I'm your sister. Not your nanny or cook. I was cooking in the kitchen and you were here relaxing. Do I look like your maid?"
She raised her chin and leveled Mona a glance. "Even if I ur food, were you expecting me to deliver it to the table for you?"
Tessa was calm but all her words were on point. The other two were unable to react. They didn't expect such an outburst from her. After all, she had always done so and never complained.
Tessa grunted before she continued to eat. The other two could only watch. Chris was especially furious. Tessa didn't face him but he had a feeling her words were directed at him.
Moreover, he felt that since he had intervened, she should have given him face and not picked a fight with Mona. He couldn't understand her actions.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. Eventually, he slammed his fork on the table and clicked his tongue with distaste.
"Such poor food. You can't even cook a decent meal yet you're acting so arrogant."
