Catherine POV

"It was the Rogue King, he was nearer than any of us can imagine," Curtis said after catching his breath.

He had examined me and his eyes turned white while going through my head and I guessed he had seen what I saw when he released his hands.

"We need to speak with my father" Stanley announced almost immediately.

"Why are we meeting with him?" Rose asked. I was certain she hadn't gotten through her fears from the last encounter with him.

I wouldn't say I had gotten over mine with him. He was really powerful no doubt.

"He needs to know. We need to find a way forward after now. If she had the dream that the Rogue king is near, then we can't take it lightly" I wondered what he looked like.

I was hoping I would catch a glimpse of what he looked like in the dream, but Rose had been so generous to wake me up and note the sarcasm.

Curtis and Stanley head out of the room and we had no choice but to follow them.

We arrived at the throne room and the entire place was utterly q

Have you shifted before?""No, I haven't" He raised his eyes in surprise and uttermost disbelief at what I had just said."Well...It's not that easy, I have tried to shift plenty of times, but it's not just working" I said trying to hide my embarrassment.

Let's try it" He said turning to look at Rose and then me.We laid out swords at each other and watched him do his moves, while we followed suit. The entire training was ongoing, when I felt something flare up within me.'Lily is that you?' I asked hoping it would be her, but there was no reply from her.All I could think of at that moment was to get air as I was beginning to lose so much of it. I dropped my practice sword on the floor and fell to the floor.

I hope you are enjoying your stay in school" He wasn't interested in all the talk he was spitting and just gave him an apt nod."Why do you have that face on? You seemed trouble." I looked up at him and then my mind linked him to the exception of others.'I need to speak with your father privately''That's why I called you in the first place. So we could talk privately' He replied through the mind link."Alright people, I would like to have a word with my son" Everyone stood up immediately and head their various ways, leaving me with my father.Once alone, my father stood up from his sit with so much grace.I couldn't deny the fact that he was aging fast and his knees are getting weak."You seem to be looking at me with the same face that shows pity to a wounded lion," He said observing my reaction."Father, age

Kevin POV "Where is she now?" He asked ignoring my previous comment. I couldn't say it, I couldn't let him know the truth. The truth was that I had hurt her so bad that she had to run away. "Answer me!" He demanded with so much authority in his voice. "She..ran...away!" Those three words would cause me so much guilt. My father wriggled free away from my grasp and stood up "What sort of a person are you? Who in their right frame of mind rejects their mate? How do you think you can cope in the world without your mate." He was hurt and I could see it. I knew I had done the abominable by having to reject my mate.

Everything that Williams had told me was too much to process. I was the chosen one, the one prophesied to save everyone from the rogue King. It was a lot to take in."What sort of training will I have to do?" I asked, my voice wavering. Catherine POVFor a moment I felt peace, my body felt at its lowest point, and in that moment, I realized life is meant to be like this; a place or a moment where you don't have to be bothered by anything. However, what became peaceful, became worrisome as time flew. It was rather much too peaceful not to even listen to the sound of my heartbeat or even my breath. While I thought through these things, a scream pierced through my ears and propelled me to shut them, almost immediately. The scream was feminine and the moment I opened my eyes to get a glimpse of where it was emanating from, I realized I was in the middle of a battlefield. The question of how I transcend to this place was kept at the back of my other numerous thoughtful questions. Catherine POV"Whatever happened to you?" Philip questioned as he gets closer to her, pointing out the bruises I had not noticed. I stared at Rose and realized that she was only out here because of one single reason."The Pack is in danger!" I spelt out and she shook her head affirmatively to my statement."We never expected an invasion to happen, but it did happen and what was more shocking, was the fact that the person behind the invasion is the Rogue King. She had broken the age-long relationship the pack had and if I am been real, it's beyond horrifying, the things they did to our pack. Right now, Queen Zara is dead!" I froze at the shocking revelation.Regardless of my stance with Queen Zara and her prejudicial judgment, I still took her as a leader and

CATHERINE'S POV As I entered the community meeting area, where pack members gathered for talks and declarations, I could feel a sense of anxiety in the air. As soon as I walked in, whispers and whispered talks stopped, and interested eyes looked at me. Skepticism and uncertainty weighed heavily on the air, like an unsaid query demanding a response.I felt the wave of unease that went through the group, a sign of their misgivings about my abrupt promotion to a leadership role. Many were confused by the swift change from a Luna behind confinement to a leader guiding the pack's future, and the doubt that pervaded the atmosphere was reflected in their gazes. The scrutiny became more intense as I got closer to the temporary platform where pack leaders normally addressed the members. The looks on the sea on faces ranged from mistrust to flat-out incredulity. As we sat opposite from one another, the weight of duty falling on our heads like a thick blanket, the environment crackled with a feeling of purpose."I had not signed in for this one," Lizzie said, her resolve and doubt visible in her eyes. I sympathized with her; the unanticipated course of events had thrown us into unanticipated roles."Not a single of us did," I said, looking her in the eye. However, we have been given the responsibility of keeping this pack together. We must figure out how to make it function."The stone walls of the study, covered in the understand

Lizzie was sitting at the dining table staring at me expectantly and with anxiety in her eyes.I said, quietly but firmly, "Lizzie, we need to talk."A frown began to develop on her eyebrows as she lifted her head from her plate. Our dining room was spacious and well-furnished, which only served to heighten the significance of the talk that was about to take place."What's happening, Philip?" she said, searching my eyes for information.I sat down across opposite her, the enormity of the speech I intended to utter amplified by the oppressive quiet of the room. "I've accepted a choice, and that's significant because it includes the pack's safety and the possibility of Stanley's treason."Lizzie's eyes narrowed, a mixture of worry and fascination. "Exactly what somewhat choice?"Leaning forward, I placed my palms on the shiny dining tabletop. "I'm about to fa

PHILIP'S POV As I left my house and the small comforts of the family behind, I was met by lengthy shadows from the rising light and relentless trials ahead. Dissatisfaction echoed like spirits in the air, and the familiar smells of the complex told narratives of a pack in disorder.I couldn't stop thinking about Catherine's captivity in our house; the conflict between my responsibilities as an Alpha and a parent kept me restless all the time. I was having trouble sifting through the complicated web that had been created by the pack's requirements, Stanley's lurking danger, and Catherine's deceit.I could hear the pack members' disgruntled whispers as I strolled around the complex. With each second of hesitation that went by, the once-unwavering loyalty that held us together appeared to wane. An eerie silence had descended upon the pack ever since Catherine's duplicity was exposed, leaving me to deal with the unnerving fallout from my choice to reveal her.I had known all along just what I wanted to do: expose Catherine's betrayal, provoke Philip's fury, and see as he banishes her, cutting the treacherous thread that jeopardized the cohesion of our pack. However, when the days grew into evenings, the anticipated removal never occurred. Rather, Catherine stayed imprisoned within our Alpha's house, a live symbol of the treachery that hung over us like a shadow. My thoughts were tinged with doubt. Why was Philip so attached to Catherine, the beast who had woven a false web to get within our pack? Was he unaware of the threat she created, or was perhaps a more nuanced reality at play that I was unable to discern?I walked erratically into the center of the courtyard, a raging sea of questions racin
