Alpha Austin immediately released me, then turned away leaving my back feeling cold and empty. It was weird how used to his warmth I got in a mtter of minutes, and how much I craved to have him back. Hell, I needed him back. But I was just the chanced Luna. The Omega who is going To depend on a man who isn't even hers for her title in the pack.

"Al..."

"You can go now." He said, cutting me off.

I nodded meekly and left, the same way Catherine did. She had this effect on him that I wish I had, this hold on the reins of his neart that I would go to the ends of the world in order to get.

But it wasn't happening, and I knew.

I walked back slowly to the now dispersed gathering. Simon and Eve were still there, probably waiting for me, and Eve ran to me the minute she saw me. Simon followed, but much slower.

"How was it?"

"It was perfect." I answered with a small smile.

"You are one lucky omega, you know that? Alpha Austin dumped that stuck up she-wolf Catherine for you. It sure is a love meant to be. If I recall, you were always in love with him ever since you saw him at his introduction." She clapped her hands heartily, and the happiness was evident on her face.

I was however, distracted by Simon's rather annoyed expression.

"What's wrong, Simon?"

He looked at me, then at Eve, and without a single word, stormed away.

Eve and I made eye contact, and in that an agreement was made. I would go after Simon and she would go back to the room where I will meet her later, ready to spill all the juice.

"Simon?" I called, walking briskly towards the path I thought he had taken. He was nowhere and it only led back to the pack house from where I stood, so I decided to go the opposite direction.

I walked briskly through the small clear path bordered by trees around. The full mood peeked over the branches, illuminating the path like some pointer instructing me on the directions to take.

"Why are you looking for me?"

I heard suddenly, and I immeidately turned to Simon. He was still the same tall, handsome Simon, but his broad chest was sunken, his straight back hunched and his broad shoulders slacked. His hair looked like he'd been running his hands through it.

"Why are you here?" I asked him instead, walking closer.

"So, Hazel...Austin? I thought You would tell me as your closest friend. I thought you were my friend."

"It just happened, Simon, I didn't even have the chance to. And of course, you are my..." My voice suddenly hitched im my throat as he pulled my by the waist, his hand cupping the edge. "What are you doing?"

He didn't reply, just let his other hand run towards to my cheek, then spread his fingers as he cupped my face.

"Stop, Simon." I said, trying to move out of his grip, but he only held me tighter.

"Don't you even see me?"

I scoffed a little then pushed him hard with all the strength in me. He lost his grip on me as he stumbled backwards a little. "See you? Simon, you were with Lily up until a week ago. You were crazy over her and now, what do you mean see you?"

"Is that why you won't let yourself see the man in front of you? Do you think I broke up with Lily because I wanted to be just friends with you?"

I looked at him, unable to find any traces of my friend in the face I saw.

"So, you mean I was some reserve? The woman you come back to after exploring all others?"

He shook his head, then came back to me, extending his hand to my shoulders. I immediately moved away, my breathing coming out in short ragged bursts. So much in just one night, and it looked like I was about to lose my best friend too.

"Look, Hazel. I don't know what's happening to me. I don't know why, but...I really don't want to share you. I don't want to see you being with another man and...I kind of...just want you to...stay with me all the time. I hate that mark on your neck..." He stopped and took in a small breath, closing his eyes for a brief moment.

"Simon, can you please stop this? We have been friends for eleven years and I have seen you infatuated with different girls, till you finally dated Lily. How can you just suddenly realize that I am the only you want?"

He said nothing, even as I waited for him to answer me. His head was bowed, and I couldn't see much of his expression.

"I will take my leave now, Simon. I hope next time I see you, we have both forgotten tonight happened."

I turned and started to walk away, but was suddenly dragged back so violently, I couldn't catch my breath.

"Don't go, Hazel."

"I think it's best if you let her be."

We both turned at the same time, my hair still in front of my face and my heart racing crazily.

Alpha Austin was standing behind us, his face expressionless.

"Aloha." Simon breathed.

"Yes, me. I will take my mate home now, so excuse us."

He was still going to keep up with the mate act even here?

He came forward to me. He looked tired, yet he stood tall.

Simon looked at me, and his eyes held some sort of fear.

"I'm sorry." I said, just as I felt Alpha Austin's electrifying touch spread through my skin as he lightly held my hand. He didn't even bother saying a word to Simon as he pulled me gently away.

My hand that was still in Simon's grip held me back as simon tightened his hold on it.

"Simon."

Alpha Austin turned back, obviously not expecting the resistance.

"I am sorry, Alpha. You can have anyone else, just not her."

Alpha Austin's brows furrowed, and a smile played on his beautiful lips as he tucked his other hand into his pocket and turned his body to Simon.

"She is the one I want." He said simply.

I didnt know if he was asleep, and I didn't even know where to go to. Should I go back to the pack house?I am sure the grand alpha and Lily would be around this morning. And the countless omegas that worked in the house too.But I couldn't stay here and watch his tattooed back like this. I sat there, lost and my palms covering my face. I suddenly heard himmove, and I lifted my head up."You're awake." He said to me."Just a minute ago." He stood up from the bed, and grabbed his shirt. I had been the one to remove it last night, but after that..."Alpha...last night...""You called me Austin last night, I am sure."I swallowed. "Yes. He lifted his eyes to hers, and raised a brow."This is what you wanted to see?" He asked her, then stood up. "Now that you have, can you leave?""Austin. Probably in ways I have never imagined."You should go to the store now," Austin suddenly said from behimd me. "Wear something sexy."I turned to him, then walked closer as Liam walked away in the opposite direction. "What is this about killing someone?""Don't you know about the series of omega killings? "A little play thing?" Duncan asked, sizing me up, but I could see where his eyes lingered. I was sure Austin could see too, judging from the smile on his face."I hear you like them lots. Duncan remarked, then leaned towards me. I immediately closed my eyes as he trailed a rough finger down my face to my neck, then lingered at the clothe's neckline."You have enough time to do that, Duncan." Austin's voice cut him off from his exploration, saving me from the monstrous wolf."I guess I do. It seemed you took some time to do your research before bringing her to me."Austin looked at me, and I thought back to that one kiss we shared. "Of course. But I kept her exclusively for you. For your entertainment." He added the last part simply for the effect. I struggled to a seating position finally, then lo

I stayed there, watching his eyes. Deep blue that somehow knocked the breath out of me. Not in the way Austin's deep red ones did, but in a different way. In a way that had me almost tripping over."Hazel! What are you doing?" Austin whispered harshly, his voice a small hiss.I turned to him, blinking a little, then turned back to Duncan. He seemed just as frozen in place as I was, and for some reason I found the hand that held the syringe becoming a little weak."Hazel!"I blinked again, snapping out of my reverie only for a small moment, before quickly going back, my lips parting slightly. How had I not noticed how beautiful he was? Not like Austin, he didn't have the sheer perfection Austin had, but there was something...the more I looked at him, the more I felt like I was being pulled to him. So angry."Hazel, you seem to always forget. In the eyes of the world and mine...you are the woman the moon goddess has given to me. Don't go around saying things about Catherine because I don't want to have to deal with any mess." He sighed and raked his hands through his hair."It is so easy to do that, I guess." I answer in a small voice. I wasn't even sure if I was sarcastic."About Duncan..." He sucked in his lower lip. "Let it stay between us. Since he is already dead, the mate bond doesn't stand for anything any longer. It is already severed and you are a free wolf now."I took in a deep breath. Why can't we just keep it that way? Why can't you stay my friend?"His brows furrowed. "Is it not obvious, Hazel? Austin's P.O.V.I took the remaining steps towards the large burial ground, the single rose I had plucked from my recent gardening hobby dangling from my fingers. It will wilter and dry up, unlike my love for her. Unlike this undying love I still feel after so long. The headstone had only three letters written in cursive. "I love you."Nothing more. Because I had no words at all to say to her. In front of her, I am a sinner, and I will probably always be. I have no chance for forgiveness with her. She left, long ago, and in her wake a gaping hole.I let out a long sigh. If Hazel were here, she would have said I am a little too young to sigh like that. I smiled, shaking my head a little.I touched the grave again, my fingers sl

9 MONTHS LATERHow long can nine full months be? Probably a little too short when you are anticipating to die. But even shorter with a husband who dotes on you like Austin does.Austin received the congrats half heartedly, and brought in some of thbest healers across different packs to wait on me. Sometimes, I felt a little too protected, but I knew he just wanted to keep me safe.Everyday as I watched my pregnancy grow bigger, I felt the fear surge higher. How would things be for them after I die? Would Austin be able to look past my sacrifice and love the children because they belong to him? It sometimes made me wonder, but I also, learned to push it behind me.Sometimes, I caught him just spaced out a little, and sometimes after I slept, he would hold my hand and end up sleeping on a chair. He didn't seem to mind any of it at all, and didn't show me how worried he was also. For that, I was utterly grateful, more than he knew.I stood in front of the open door, watching the sunset.

The hall looked nothing like the unfinished one that Austin had shown me just yesterday, and I knew there was definitely no way it could have been done without having to pull all nighters.Dark red and black roses adorned a cleared path, and petals filled the floor I was supposed to walk on. Most of the pack were there, and in the front I could see Catherine, tears glistening brightly in her eyes, yet a small smile on her face.I smiled back at her as Austin slowly accompanied me, the train of my dress behind held up by an omega, and the scroll of the Luna's oath waiting on an elevated stand on which Austin would leave me to go to.He gave me a small reassuring smile as he left my side and then made his way to the stand, a happy smile playing on his lips. The standing ovation that had welcomed us was still ongoing, and Austin let it go on for a few more seconds, before he finally raised a hand and firmly clenched his fist. It immediately died down and he lowered his hand."It is an ho

It was rather convenient, and I found it easier. We retired to bed after a tired dinner, his hand clasped around my waist, drawing me into him, while his other hand stretched under my head to support it. How can an entire pack be so nonchalant towards a mate bond, especially that of the alpha? What were you thinking?"My breath hitched as her eyes thinned in a little judgemental look. I could tell she didn't have good news for us. My eyes lifted to Alpha Evander behind us.
